SOUTHBRIDGE -- Margaret P. (Durand) Schwall, 39, of 35 Ellis Road, a nurse, died Thursday, July 5, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident Wednesday, July 4, on I-290 in Worcester.
She leaves her husband of 13 years, Arthur A. Schwall; a son, Cory A. Schwall of Southbridge; a daughter, Jenna Mary E. Schwall of Southbridge; her adoptive parents, Richard and Mary P. (Drummey) Durand of Marlboro; her biological parents, Edward and Barbara (Kenneally) Casavant of Stoneham; two brothers, John Casavant of Beverly and Brian Durand of Millis; two sisters, Jill Ryan of Newton and Trisha Osterhoudt of Marlboro; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Newton, and lived many years in Marlboro. She moved to Southbridge several years ago.
Mrs. Schwall was a licensed practical nurse 12 years at Greenery Extended Care Unit in Worcester. She volunteered at Eastford Road School in Southbridge, and was a Football Mom for Southbridge Pop Warner Football. She enjoyed gardening.
The funeral will be held Monday, July 9, from Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., with a Mass at 10 a. m. in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p. m. Sunday, July 8, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Margaret P. LEICESTER -- Victor S. Cutroni, 81, of 475 Pleasant St., a World War II veteran and a former business woner and operator, died Sunday, July 8, at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of five years, Joan B. (Stockwell) Halpern-Cutroni; a son, Victor M. Cutroni of Oceanside, Calif. ; four brothers, James Cutroni of Holden, Joseph Cutroni and William Cutroni, both of Worcester, and Frank Cutroni of Boca Raton, Fla. ; two sisters, Nina Pearson and Ann Cooper, both of Worcester; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. His first wife, of 56 years, Ruth E. (Melnikoff) Cutroni, predeceased him. A sister, Rose LaBonte, died in April. A brother, John Cutroni, also predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of James S. and Cecilia (Felomena) Cutroni, and lived about 60 years in Leicester. He attended Worcester public schools and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Cutroni was self-employed in the automobile industry since age 20. He owned and operated ACME Auto Sales for more than 40 years and owned and operated Vittorio's Restaurant. He was a member of St. Jude's Chapel, Worcester Lodge of Elks, and the Knights of Columbus. He was an airplane pilot, boxing manager, race horse owner, and gin player.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 11, from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a. m. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Entombment will be in St. John's Mausoleum, Worcester. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p. m. Tuesday, July 10, in the funeral home. ENGLEWOOD, Fla. -- Henry D. Pietrasiak, 77, of Englewood, formerly of Southboro, Mass., died Thursday, July 5, in Englewood.
He leaves his wife, Agnes Pietrasiak; three daughters, Jeane Bruen of Gross Pointe, Mich., Rose Pietrasiak of Southboro and Ann Satir of Amesbury, Mass. ; a son, Henry Pietrasiak Jr. of Shrewsbury, Mass. ; two brothers, Theodore Pietrasiak of the Fayville section of Southboro and Richard Pietrasiak of Boston; a sister, Joanne Cunningham of Marlboro, Mass. ; and eight grandchildren. He was born in Cambridge, son of Dominick and Josephine (Suskie) Pietrasiak, and lived in Southboro before moving to the Englewood area in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Pietrasiak served 30 years with the Southboro Police Department, retiring as a sergeant. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10178, the Council of the Blind, and St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a. m. Tuesday, July 10, in St. Raphael's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Park. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p. m. Monday, July 9, in Englewood Chapel of Lemon Bay Funeral Homes, 2 Buchan's Landing.

WORCESTER -- Katherine (Chesna) Taparauskas, 85, a resident of SunBridge of Worcester, formerly of 127 Millbury St., died Thursday, July 5, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus,
She leaves two daughters, Mary Vucic of Pittsburgh and Theresa MacFarland of Worcester; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Adam and Beatrice (Budnis) Chesna.
Mrs. Taparauskas was a former member of St. Casimir's Church.
After cremation, a graveside service will be held at 1 p. m. Tuesday, July 10, in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster St. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Dirsa-Kazlauskas Funeral Home, 51 Providence St., is directing arrangements.

WORCESTER -- Ann Marie (Hultgren) Brodeur, 42, of 39 Dunbar St., a grant coordinator, died Saturday, July 7, at home after a long illness.
She leaves her husband, James Brodeur; two daughters, Shauna Kimble of Barre and Jennifer Higgins of Kenmore, N. Y. ; her mother, Margaret (O'Connor) Hultgren of Grafton; three brothers, David Hultgren of Virginia Beach, Va., Thomas Hultgren of Dracut, and John Hultgren of Oxford; two sisters, Susan Carreau of Worcester and Margaret Silva Sa of Grafton; a grandson; several nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of David Hultgren, and graduated from Marion High School. She attended Eastern Nazarene College.
Mrs. Brodeur was a grant coordinator for the city at Worcester Vocational High School.
She was active in the Worcester Women's Emblem Club and local parades.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 13, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 9 Hammond St., with a Mass at 10 a. m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Road. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p. m. Thursday, July 12, in the funeral home.

WEBSTER -- Christine M. (Boisvert) Gray, 36, of 256 North Main St., died Tuesday, July 10, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus.
She leaves her fiance, Chandler C. Giroux of Webster; two sons, Joshua M. Boisvert and Robert S. Craig, both of Webster; her parents, Richard P. and Dolores T. (Paul) Boisvert of Grovespring, Mo. ; seven brothers, Robert J. Gebo of Webster, Richard Boisvert of Penacook, N. H., David Boisvert of Pembroke, N. H., John Boisvert of Ware, Donald and Jeremy Boisvert, both of Concord, N. H., and Ronald Boisvert of Grovespring; five sisters, Sheila Lavallee of Sturbridge, Linda Betancourt of Miami, Barbara Clark of Pembroke, and Tina Brown and Amy Boisvert, both of Franklin, N. H. ; several nieces and nephews; her former husband, Blaine B. Gray of Dudley. She was born in Worcester, and lived most of her life in Webster. She graduated from Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge, and was a certified nursing assistant.
Mrs. Gray did private duty nursing, and worked for a period of time at Lanessa Health Care and the Southern Worcester County Visiting Nurses Association.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a. m. Friday, July 13, in United Church of Christ Federated, 4 Church St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p. m. WEBSTER -- Anna B. (Zachara) Makarewicz, 92, formerly of Park Avenue, a retired fabric worker, died Monday, July 9, in Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after an illness.
Her husband of 65 years, William J. Makarewicz Sr., died in 1994. She leaves two sons, Robert J. Makarewicz of Webster and William J. Makarewicz Jr. of Kenwood, Calif. ; a daughter, Sandra A. Makarewicz of the North Grosvenordale section of Thompson; a sister, Lillian Korch of Webster; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Judith T. Brodeur of Dudley, died in 1985. Five brothers and a sister also predeceased her. She was born in Webster, daughter of John and Sophie (Pawlak) Zachara, and attended Bartlett High School.
Mrs. Makarewicz was a sewer and mender for 10 years at Anglo Fabrics Co., retiring in 1975. Previously, she was a mender more than 25 years at American Woolen Co. She was a member of St. Joseph Basilica, its Holy Rosary Sodality and its St. Anne Society.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a. m. Friday, July 13, in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are private. WEBSTER -- Stella A. “Babe” (Mitsakos) Nikopoulos, 78, of 10 Days Lane, died Wednesday, July 11, in Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
She leaves her husband of 46 years, Socrates C. Nikopoulos; three sons, Chris S. Nikopoulos of California, John S. Nikopoulos of Charlton, and Charlie S. Nikopoulos of Boxborough; a sister, Helen Waskiewicz of Webster; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was born in New Bedford, daughter of John and Harikla (Morokos) Mitsakos, and lived most of her life in Webster. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1940.
Mrs. Nikopoulos worked at American Optical Co. in Southbridge, and later worked at Ethan Allen Co. in Dudley, retiring many years ago. She was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church and its Philoptokos Society. She was also a member of the Webster Emblem Club.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday, July 14, in Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Lake Parkway. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p. m. Friday, July 13, in Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St. A Trisagion service will be held at 8 p. m. during the calling hours. THOMPSON -- Jacqui L. Steele, 39, of North Grosvenordale, died at home Monday, July 9.
She leaves her father, James L. Steele of Bella Vista, Ark. ; her mother, Carol J. Keelan of Tooele, Utah; a brother, Richard R. Abraham of San Diego. She was born in Philadelphia, and lived most of her life in California before moving to Connecticut.
She was a motor racing enthusiast. The graveside service will be held at 1 p. m. Friday, July 13, in West Thompson Cemetery. Coventry Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike, Coventry, is directing arrangements.

HOLDEN -- Jay E. Nystrom, 61, of 40 Causeway St., Jefferson, U. S. Navy veteran, died Wednesday, July 11, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Susan S. (Brown) Nystrom; a daughter, Barbara A. Nystrom of Jefferson; a brother, James B. Nystrom of Holden, and a grandson. He was born in Worcester, son of Clifford and June (Salmonsen) Nystrom, and lived 53 years in Holden. He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1958 and served in the Navy during the Cuban missile crisis.
Mr. Nystrom worked 32 years at the Reed-Rico Division of PCC Specialty Products, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Rutland Sportsmen's Club and the USS Nitro Association.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, July 14, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p. m. HOLDEN -- Alice B. (Sterner) White, 85, of Holden, formerly of Worcester, a former clerk, died Thursday, July 12, in Knollwood Nursing Home, Worcester.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, Frederick W. White Jr. of Worcester; three daughters; three grandchildren; and two nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Anders and Signe (Blanch) Sterner, and graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester, in 1934.
Many years ago, Mrs. White was a clerk at Associated Charities of Worcester and in the mortgage department of M. P. A. Insurance Co., Worcester. She was a member of Salem Covenant Church, Worcester, the Covenant Women and served twice as financial secretary of the church.
The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, July 14, in Salem Covenant Church, 215 East Mountain St., Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours.
