OAK VIEW, Calif. -- Hazel B. (Eddy) Freudenthal, 86, of Oak View, formerly of Oxford, Mass., died June 1 at home.
She leaves her husband of 66 years, Floyd Freudenthal; a son, Floyd Freudenthal of Medford, Ore. ; three daughters, Marilyn Chase of Newhall, Mary McCubbins of Sunrise Beach, Mo., and Joyce Overbaugh of Oak View; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Judith Cook of Boise, Idaho, a brother, Lewis M. Eddy, and a sister, Bernice A. (Eddy) Freudenthal, predeceased her. She was born in Oxford, daughter of Dwight C. and Mary I. (Turner) Eddy, and lived in Charlton, Mass., Greenville, Mass., Rochdale, Mass., and Spencer, Mass. She moved to California in 1952.
Mrs. Freudenthal worked for Carlton Woolen Mills in Rochdale and Kleven Shoe Factory in Spencer. She worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif., for 20 years, retiring in 1973. She owned Just a Mere Gift Shop in Spencer.
She was a member of Odd Fellows Harmony Rebekah Lodge for 52 years, and was a former member of Greenville Baptist Church in Rochdale and First Congregational Church in Spencer.
The memorial service will be held June 7 in Ojai Presbyterian Church in Ojai. Donations may be made to Greenville Baptist Church, Handicapped Fund, PO Box 396, Rochdale, MA 01542.

NORTHBORO -- Brian T. Kinney, 53, of 12 Shady Lane Ave., died Monday, June 18, at home after a short battle with lung cancer.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Barbara L. (Tagoff) Kinney; two daughters, Kimberly M. Kinney of Worcester and Amanda L. Kinney of Northboro; six grandchildren, including Shana Narcisse of Northboro; three stepdaughters, Jessica Stroker of Dorchester, Shannon Stroker of Shrewsbury and Kristen Willard of Barre; his stepfather, Albert Gerdauskas of Northboro; a half-brother, Teddy Kinney of Mustang, Okla. ; nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Theodore Kinney and Mary (Connors) Gerdauskas, and was raised in Holden. He moved to Northboro in 1993. He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in Holden in 1965, and attended Worcester State College and Framingham State College. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Kinney was a senior software engineer at EMC Corp. in Milford. He previously worked at Data General and Digital Equipment Corp.
He enjoyed camping, gardening, golf, and reading.
The graveside service will be held at 9 a. m. Thursday, June 21, in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p. m. Wednesday, June 20, in Leland-Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the UMass Memorial Home Health and Hospice, 43 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609.

NORTHBORO -- Jillian M. Bertonazzi, 23, of Northboro, died Friday, June 29, in Vencor Hospital, Brighton section of Boston, after a struggle with cancer.
She leaves her parents, Thomas M. and Karen S. (Thorn) Bertonazzi of Northboro; a sister, Kim Bertonazzi of Northboro; a brother, Matthew Bertonazzi of Northboro; her paternal grandmother, Josephine Bertonazzi of Southboro; and her maternal grandfather, Carl Thorn of Northboro. She was born in Worcester. She graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 1996 and with honors from Boston University, earning a psychology degree in 2000.
Miss Bertonazzi was a social worker at the Franciscan Children's Hospital, Brighton. She was a member of St. Bernadette's Church and a charter member of Young Christian Fellowship at Boston University. Between her junior and senior years of college, she went on a six-week missionary trip to Poland.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a. m. Tuesday, July 3, in St. Bernadette's Church, Main Street. Burial will be in Howard Street Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p. m. WEBSTER -- The memorial Mass for Mary E. (Murolo) Albetski, 77, of 53 Granite St., who died Monday, June 25, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, will be held at 10 a. m. Friday, June 29, in St. Louis Church, Lake Street. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Bernard M. Albetski of Webster; a son, Norman D. Albetski of Shrewsbury; three daughters, Janet V. Szacik of Webster, Elaine M. Martin of Dudley, and Bernice G. Hicks of Eric, Colo. ; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was born in Putnam, and lived most of her life in Webster.
Mrs. Albetski worked many years in the Park Avenue School cafeteria. She was a member of St. Louis Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any mental health agency. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School St., is directing arrangements.

WEBSTER -- Michael T. “Kash” Kasierski, 89, of Dresser Street, who as a former professional baseball pitcher was the first to pitch against Jackie Robinson, died Monday, June 25, in Webster Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.
Known as “Lefty” and “Iron Man,” Mr. Kasierski played organized baseball for 21 years, mostly with teams in Triple A leagues.
Although he made the roster of two major league teams, he never saw action in a regular game. He played with Babe Ruth in his last season with the Boston Braves and with Ted Williams in his first season in baseball.
Playing with the New York Giants' farm team in the AAA International League after he was sold to the team upon returning from military service after World War II, he became the first man to pitch against Jackie Robinson as a professional ball player.
“The manager said to throw it at his head,” he told the Telegram & Gazette in 1981. “If not, it would have cost me $25. In those days we were often told to throw at the hitters. ”
Among his accomplishments, he played with Minneapolis, Jersey City, the New Orleans Pelicans, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, and Portsmouth.
He started the 1935 season with the Boston Braves and was on the Philadelphia Phillies roster in 1941.
In 1937 at age 23, he was named the youngest manager in professional baseball with the Jamestown Ponies in the Class D North Dakota Ponie League, and he joined the Minneapolis AAA ball club in 1938.
On five consecutive Sundays in 1947 as a player-manager for the Class B Waterbury Timers (the New York Yankees farm team in Waterbury, Conn. ), he pitched five doubleheaders without relief and won every game -- a performance that put him in Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
He retired from baseball in 1957.
Mr. Kasierski was a production manager for many years at American Optical Co., Southbridge, retiring in 1975.
He leaves his wife of 23 years, Rolande C. (Lavigne) Kasierski; three stepsons, Ronald Plaisance of Shipman, Va., Richard Plaisance of East Boston and Robert Plaisance of Vernon, N. J. ; a stepdaughter, Michelle Plaisance of Amesbury; three step-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Webster, son of William and Maryanna (Borski) Kasierski, and lived most of his life in Webster. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
The memorial Mass will be at 11 a. m. Saturday, June 30, in St. Louis Church, 15 Lake St. Mr. Kasierski donated his body to the University of Massachusetts Medical School Anatomical Gift Program in Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Webster Manor Resident Activities Fund, 745 School St., Webster, MA 01570. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing arrangements.

NORTHBRIDGE -- Edward F. “Ted” Lightbown, 53, of 9 Leland Road, Whitinsville, a letter carrier, died Sunday, June 24, in Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital, Milford, after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife of eight years, Patricia M. (Zywien) Lightbown; his father, Norman L. Lightbown of Whitinsville; a brother, Allan N. Lightbown of Whitinsville; a sister, Doris M. Ducharme of Whitinsville; nephews and nieces. He was born in Northbridge, son of Florence M. (Blaine) Lightbown, and graduated from Northbridge High School. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in Vietnam.
Mr. Lightbown was a letter carrier the past 25 years for the Whitinsville Post Office. He was a member of the Blackstone Valley Vietnam Veterans and a social member of Whitinsville Golf Club. He enjoyed sports.
The funeral will be held Friday, June 29, from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, with a Mass at 10 a. m. in St. Patrick's Church, Cross Street, Whitinsville. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p. m. Thursday, June 28, in the funeral home. SOUTH DENNIS -- Daniel L. Ozioli, 81, of South Dennis, formerly of Worcester, a veteran of World War II and a retired master chef, died Sunday, June 24, in Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.
He leaves his wife of six years, Lois (Campbell) Ozioli; two daughters, Rosemarie Ozioli of Shrewsbury, and Michele Ozioli of Worcester; two sons, Daniel Ozioli Jr. of Annandale, Va., and John Ozioli of Worcester; four stepdaughters, Roberta Palmeri of Sandwich, Elaine Trott of Mashpee, Denise Perry of West Yarmouth, and Deborah Stravato of Dayville, Conn; a brother, Elio Ozioli of South Dennis; two sisters, Jean Popplar of Rochester, N. Y., and Lydia DiSilvestro of East Boston; many grandchildren; and his former wife, Anna (Scola) Ozioli of Worcester. A sister, Florence Marchant, predeceased him. He was born in Gaeta, Italy, son of Carlo and Anna (DiVasta) Ozioli. He came to Massachusetts in 1930, and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Ozioli was a master chef and worked for many restaurants in Worcester and Boston before moving to the Cape in 1972. Until last year, he worked summers at the Poppinesset Inn, New Seabury.
He was a member of the Hyannis Sons of Italy, the Moose Lodge in South Yarmouth, and the Hyannis Elks. He was an avid reader and gardener. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy. He enjoyed archaeology and music.
The funeral will be held at 9 a. m. Tuesday, June 26, in the Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, with a Mass at 10 a. m. in St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p. m. Monday, June 25, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. WORCESTER -- Anita (Chervinsky) Shapiro, 84, formerly of 475 Chandler St., a former salesperson, died Wednesday, June 27, in Academy Manor Nursing Home, Andover.
Her husband of 32 years, Harold Shapiro, died in 1982. She leaves a daughter, Susan Shapiro-Cottone of Windham, N. H. ; a brother, Max Chervin of Long Beach, Calif. ; nephews and nieces. Five sisters, Irene Plone, Laura Chervinsky, Betty Labaire, Bea Coleman and Rebecca Dashoff, and a brother, Albert Chervinsky, predeceased her. She was born in Providence, daughter of Morris and Sarah (Schecter) Chervinsky, and lived 79 years in Worcester before moving to Andover a year ago.
Mrs. Shapiro was a salesperson and, most recently, worked 13 years for Filene's department store. She was a longtime member of Beth Israel Synagogue and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans. She was a member of Temple Emanuel for 17 years.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p. m. Friday, June 29, in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St. Burial will be in B'nai B'rith Cemetery. Memorial observance will be from 1 to 8 p. m. Sunday, July 1, and Monday, July 2, at the residence of Susan and Charles Cottone, 76 North Lowell Road, Windham.
