Roy A. Wahlstrom, 75

MILLBURY -- Roy A. Wahlstrom, 75, formerly of Millbury, a retired funeral director and a veteran of World War II, died Monday, April 23, in St. Mary Health Care Center, Worcester, after a long illness.
His wife of 27 years, Betty M. (Oakes) Wahlstrom, died in 1975. He leaves a daughter, Suzanne Boudreau of Sutton; two sons, Peter A. Wahlstrom of Millbury and David K. Wahlstrom of Thompson; and six grandchildren. A son, Stephen R. Wahlstrom, died in 1957. Born in Worcester, son of Roy A. and Annie S. (Westerberg) Wahlstrom, he attended Millbury High School and graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester. He also graduated from the New England Institute of Anatomy, Sanitary Science and Embalming, Boston. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Wahlstrom was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for many years. He owned and operated the Gochie Mortuary, South Grafton, for several years, and worked for funeral homes in Worcester and the Blackstone Valley.
Mr. Wahlstrom was a member of First Congregational Church and the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge, both in Millbury, and the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association. He enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 26, in First Congregational Church, West Main Street. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, Sutton. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Members of the Masonic lodge will be meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, to conduct their ritual. Ellen J. Wickman, 93

GARDNER -- Ellen J. (Carlson) Wickman, 93, of 44 Keystone Drive, Leominster, formerly of 59 Leamy St., died Monday, April 23, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness.
Her husband, Alexander Wickman, died in 1971. She leaves a nephew, Robert H. Enright of Winchendon. She was born in Gardner, daughter of Frank and Selma (Anderson) Carlson.
Mrs. Wickman was a stitcher at the former Collier-Keyworth Co. and Hedstrom Union Co., retiring in 1973. She was a member of Covenant Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in Smith Funeral Home, 69 Vernon St. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Reginald S. Aldrich, 80

TEMPLETON -- Reginald S. Aldrich, 80, of 146 Baldwinville Road, a World War II veteran and a retired public works department worker, died Wednesday, April 25, at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Marion (Robinson) Aldrich; a son, Steven J. Aldrich of Royalston; two daughters, Linda S. Viitanen of Yarmouthport and Janet B. Williams of Sandwich; three brothers, Ronald Aldrich and Harry Aldrich Jr. of Templeton and Bernard Smith of Kittery, Maine; three sisters, Nancy Savage of Springfield, Mo., Constance Clark of Dover, N.H., and Katherine Winkler of Carlsbad, Calif.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Manchester, N.H., son of Harry and Catherine (Smith) Aldrich, and lived many years in Templeton. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a private first class in Europe.
Mr. Aldrich worked 25 years for Massachusetts Department of Public Works, retiring in 1981. He was a member of First Church of Templeton, where he was a deacon and council member. He was a member of Ovila Case 905 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Gardner.
He organized and became president of Narragansett Regional High School Band Association and participated in the band's spring musicals the past 11 years. He was a past member of the Templeton Conservation Commission and Planning Board. He enjoyed music, boating and traveling.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, in First Church of Templeton, Templeton Common. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. WEBSTER -- Lorraine Biesiadecki, 66, of 25 Eddy St., died Friday, April 27, in Webster Commons-Lanessa Care Facility.
She leaves a brother, Walter Biesiadecki of West Thompson; three sisters, Esther Plouffe of Southbridge, Florence Cote of Nashua, N.H., and Alice Peck of Dudley; nephews and nieces. A brother, Joseph C. Biesiadecki of Shrewsbury, and two sisters, Mary Sugar of Dudley and Helen Plouffe of Southbridge, predeceased her. She was born in Webster, daughter of Joseph T. and Caroline (Hodur) Biesiadecki.
The memorial service will be held at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. SOUTHBRIDGE -- Dale A. Rennell-Bouvier, 48, of 144 Chapin St., a laboratory instructor at WPI, died Tuesday, April 24, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, from injuries suffered Sunday in a fall at her home.
She leaves her husband of 15 years, Paul F. Bouvier; four daughters, Sonia D. Bouvier of Springfield, Tracy L. Hutchins of Dover, Pa., Rachel A. Bouvier of Northampton and Jennifer D. Mahoney of Southbridge; her mother, Doris (Stevens) Rennell of Spencer; a brother, Brian D. Rennell of North Adams; a sister, Terry L. Roy of Brevard, N.C.; five grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. She was born in North Adams, daughter of Clarence A. Rennell, She graduated in 1970 from Drury High School in North Adams and in 1981 from Worcester State College. She received a doctorate in 1988 from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester.
She was a laboratory instructor in the biology and biotechnology department at WPI in Worcester. She previously taught at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Clark University and Assumption College, both in Worcester.
She was a member of the American Society of Microbiology and Sigma Xi, a national biological honor society. She was a published research scientist, and completed systematic studies of protein structure.
She enjoyed gardening.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Magnus A. Carlberg, 93

GARDNER -- Magnus A. Carlberg, 93, of 164 Lawrence St. and of 900 West Lake Road in Palm Harbor, Fla., a World War II veteran and a retired insurance agency owner and operator, died Wednesday, April 25, in Helen Ellis Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Fla., after a brief illness.
He leaves a son, M. Paul Carlberg of Gardner; two stepsons, Stephen T. Sharron of Westminster and Raymond W. Sharron of Florida; and three grandchildren. He was born in Gardner, son of Albert and Botilda (Person) Carlberg, and lived here most of his life. He graduated from Gardner High School in 1925 and attended University of Massachusetts. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a technician fifth grade.
Mr. Carlberg founded Magnus A. Carlberg insurance agency in 1929, which received the 1972 Community Improvement Award. He retired in 1980.
He was active on the Chamber of Commerce Highway Committee for nearly 20 years. He was associated with many civic, service, and fraternal organizations, including the United Way, the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, Gardner State and Heywood Hospitals, Swedish Social Club, Gardner Rotary Club, Gardner Exchange Club, Gardner Fish and Gun Club, Hope Lodge of Masons, American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, National Grange 130, First Lutheran Church, Gardner Veterans Housing Authority, Gardner Cemetery Commission, Vasa Order of America, and the Gardner Republican Committee. He won the Dr. Quimby Prognostication Award presented annually by the Gardner Rotary Club. Professionally, Mr. Carlberg was active with the North Worcester Board of Fire Underwriters, the Independent Insurance Agents of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Insurance Agents Advisory Council, and the Professional Insurance Agents.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, in First Lutheran Church, 209 Lawrence Street. Burial will be in Greenbower Cemetery. WORCESTER -- The graveside service for Calvin A. “Sonny” Confer, 64, of 52 Queen St., who died Monday, April 23, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Jeannine (Pallas) Confer; five sons, Michael Confer of Grafton, John Confer of Worcester, Gregory Confer of Akwasasni, N.Y., Calvin Confer of Spencer and Christian Confer of Oklahoma City; six daughters, Dawn Mongeon of Allegan, Mich., Sharilyn Poston, Gabrielle Saez, Lisette Bain, Nico Confer and Reno Oster, all of Worcester; two brothers, Guy Confer of Erieville, N.Y., and Joseph Confer of Oxford; two sisters, Lenora Jones of Syracuse, N.Y., and Betty LaPierre of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 45 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, James Confer of Akwasasni, predeceased him. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., son of Harry and Julia (Gray) Confer, and lived most of his life in Worcester.
Mr. Confer was a cement finisher before retiring.

WINCHENDON -- Edward M. Delaney, 69, of 70 Mill St., died Thursday, April 27, in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 26 years, Mary I. (Field) Delaney; six sons, Brian K. Robidoux, and Frederick C. and Michael J. Field, all of Winchendon;, Edward C. Robidoux of Princeton, Alan R. Robidoux of Leominster, and Neil A. Robidoux of Page, Ariz.; a daughter, Susan M. Vailancourt of Gardner; a brother, Edward Lewis of Winchendon; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandson. He was born in Boston, and was raised from infancy by Mr. and Mrs. William Hoague. He graduated from Murdock High School. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Delaney was a foreman for the Massachusetts Highway Department before retiring.
He was an avid golfer, and was a former member of the Winchendon Country Club. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He was a past commander of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion, and was a member of Lieutenant Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The funeral service will be held Monday, April 30, from Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce St. Burial will be in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the funeral home. Members of the American Legion will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the funeral home to conduct their ritual. GARDNER -- Ellyn (Cooper) Farnsworth, 83, of Neptune Beach, Fla., formerly of Gardner, died Friday, April 6, in St. Catherine Laboure Manor in Jacksonville, Fla.
She leaves her husband of 61 years, William A. Farnsworth of Neptune Beach; a son, William A. Farnsworth Jr. of Neptune Beach; two daughters, Chandra Farnsworth of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Kathy Gregory of Wickford, R.I.; an adopted daughter, Hiroko Sakai of New York City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was born in Glen Ellyn, Ill., daughter of Wilbur and Leila (Chester) Cooper, and lived 55 years in Gardner.
Mrs. Farnsworth volunteered with the American Red Cross as a driver for the blood bank. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Gardner, the Gardner Woman's Club for 50 years, its Literature Department and the American Home Department. She enjoyed reading, birds and flowers. She was a supporter of Levi Heywood Memorial Library.

WORCESTER -- Michael G. Markarian, 51, of 10 Wrentham Road, a clothier, died Tuesday, April 24, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his mother, Agnes E. (Demerjian) Markarian of Worcester; two sons, Jason M. Markarian of Milan, Italy, and Adam S. Markarian of San Francisco; a daughter, Rachel E. Markarian of Worcester; a brother, Mark N. Markarian of Holden; a sister, Melanie A. Blum of San Francisco; his former wife, Robin B. (Kabian) Markarian; a niece and a nephew. He was born in Worcester, son of Gilbert Markarian who died in 1997. He graduated from Worcester Academy and Dean Junior College in Franklin.
Mr. Markarian operated M. Gilbert Clothiers before retiring because of illness. He began his career with Sarah's Clothes Inc. in Boston. He owned and operated Michael's in Tatnuck Square. He managed Shirt Tails in the Worcester Common Outlets. He later managed A. Wesley Inc. stores in Worcester, Framingham and at the Beechwood Hotel.
He was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Savior and the Worcester Academy Alumni.

WEBSTER -- Julius Maskeliunas, 83, of 2 Golden Heights, formerly of 3 Lenora St. in Worcester, a retired machine set-up man, died Monday, April 23, at home.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Anele (Baliunas) Maskeliunas; two daughters, Sabina M. Spratt of Worcester and Nijole B. Price of Webster; a brother and two sisters in Lithuania; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born, raised and educated in Lithuania, son of Kasimir and Marcella (Maskeliunas) Maskeliunas, and came to the United States in 1951, settling in Worcester. He lived many years in Worcester before moving to Webster 13 years ago.
Mr. Maskeliunas was a machine set-up man more than 30 years for Worcester Chrome Furniture Co., retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Casimir's Church, Worcester, the Lithuania National Guard and the Lithuanian Charitable Society. He was a former member of Our Lady of Vilna Church, Worcester.
The funeral will be held Thursday, April 26, from Dirsa-Kazlauskas Funeral Home, 51 Providence St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir's Church, 41 Providence St., Worcester. GARDNER -- Edmund O. Tunkunas, 83, of 23 Chapman Park, a World War II veteran and a former metalworker, died Monday, April 23, in Heywood Hospital after an illness.
He leaves two sisters, Wanda Sherksnis of Gardner and Ona Budejus of Chicago; two nieces and a nephew. He was born in Waterbury, Conn., son of Jacob and Elisabeth (Inamaitis) Tunkunas, and lived many years in Gardner. He graduated from Worcester Junior College. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal.
Mr. Tunkunas was a metalworker for Travers Welding Co. He was a member of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church, Lithuanian Outing Association, Hope Lodge of Masons, Gardner Shrine Club, Ivanhoe Commandery 46 Knights Templar, Harris Council, and Allepo Temple Shrine, Wilmington.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in Smith Funeral Home, 69 Vernon St. Burial will be in Green Bower Cemetery. A calling hour is 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to a charity.
