John B. Leger, 91

Tuesday, April 10, 2001

FITCHBURG -- John B. Leger, 91, of 29 Merriam Parkway, formerly of 16 Willard Road, Westminster, a retired tool and die maker, died Monday, April 9, in the Highlands Long Term Care Center after a illness.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Maissi (Salo) Leger; a sister Alma Eringi of Fitchburg; many nieces and nephews. A sister, Lucie Moquin, of Fitchburg, predeceased him. He was born in New Brunswick, Canada, son of Andre and Diana (Gallant) Leger. He attended Worcester Boys Trade High School.

Mr. Leger was a tool and die maker for the Sterilite Plastic Co. in Townsend, retiring in 1974. He previously worked for the Great American Plastic Co.

He was a member of St. Camillus Church, the Westminster Friendship Club, The Westminster Bowling League, and the Westminster Retired Men's Club.

During World War II he did civil service work for the U.S. Navy in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for 2 years.

After cremation, burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main Street, Westminster, is directing arrangements.

Walter E. Lemoine, 78

Sunday, April 8, 2001

WORCESTER -- Walter E. Lemoine, 78, of 39 Queen St., died Tuesday, April 3, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

He leaves no immediate relatives in the area. A brother, Roland Lemoine of Woonsocket, R.I., predeceased him. He was born in Woonsocket, son of Joseph and Marguerite (LeBlanc) Lemoine, and lived here several years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Lemoine founded, owned and operated a taxi business before retiring. He then was a security guard.

The memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, in St. Mary Health Care Center, 39 Queen St. Burial will be at a later date in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, Woonsocket. There are no calling hours. Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St., is directing arrangements.

Edward Lesneski, 84

GARDNER -- Edward Lesneski, 84, of 55 Conant St., a retired welder, died Monday, April 2, in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, after an illness.

His wife of 50 years, Nellie (Rukas) Lesneski, died in 1999. He leaves a son, Edward Lesneski Jr. of Gardner; a daughter, Carol Ann Lesneski of Gardner; five sisters, Celia Landry and Jennie Sundnas, both of Gardner, Adele Bockus of Templeton, Irene Lajoie of Fredericksburg, Va., and Helen Nichelson of Sidney, Nova Scotia; a brother, Henry Lesneski in California; nephews and nieces. He was born in Gardner, son of John and Josephine (Chikowska) Lesneski.

Mr. Lesneski was a welder at Simplex Time Recorder Co. for 50 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the Polish-American Citizens Club and Country Club, and a former member of the Gardner Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

The funeral will be held Thursday, April 5, from Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St. Burial will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery. A calling hour is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Eula M. Lineen, 95, registered nurse in Worcester

WAYNESVILLE, Ohio -- Eula M. (Watson) Lineen, 95, of 9680 Collett Road, formerly of 485 Grove St., Worcester, Mass., and 23 Ivernia Road, also in Worcester, died Tuesday, April 10, in Hospice of Dayton.

Her husband, John P. Lineen, died in 1982. She leaves two sons, Paul T. Lineen of Waynesville and Richard J. Lineen of Leicester, Mass.; a daughter, Karen E. Welsh of Worcester; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was born in Carthage, N.Y., daughter of Archie and Elizabeth (Hippauf) Watson. She graduated from Templeton High School in Templeton, Mass., and from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester. She grew up in Templeton, and lived 63 years in Worcester. She moved to Ohio a year ago.

Mrs. Lineen was a registered nurse, and did private duty nursing at Memorial Hospital in Worcester for many years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Memorial Nurses Alumnae Association.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, in Green Lawn Cemetery, Templeton. There are no calling hours. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

Helen L. Lizotte, 91

Monday, April 9, 2001

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Helen L. (Hamelin) Lizotte, 91, formerly of Hudson, Mass., and Marlboro, Mass., a retired supervisor, died Saturday, April 7, in Florida Hospital.

Her husband, Romeo Lizotte, died in 1976. She leaves a son, Charles Lizotte of Castleberry; a sister, Constance Bigelow of Marlboro; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Malrboro, daughter of Charles and Mary L. (Gregoire) Hamelin. She moved to Florida in 1993.

Mrs. Lizotte was a supervisor many years at the former Curtis Shoe Co. in Marlboro.

She was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Marlboro.

The funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, in St. Mary's Church, Broad Street, Marlboro. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Marlboro. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlboro.

Nellie F. Loda, 92

WORCESTER -- Nellie F. (Snarskis) Loda, 92, formerly of 8 Sheridan St., died Sunday, April 8, in Hermitage Nursing Home, 383 Mill St.

Her husband of 50 years, Alfonso F. Loda, died in 1988. She leaves a son, Peter D. Loda of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Albina Golden of West Yarmouth; four grandchildren. A daughter, Carolyn Jones of Lilburn, Ga., died in 1998. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Peter and Petronella Snarskis.

Mrs. Loda was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and Our Lady of Vilna Church.

The funeral will be held Wednesday April 11, from Dirsa-Kazlauskas Funeral Home, 51 Providence St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Laurent G. Loiselle, 83

LADY LAKE, Fla. -- Laurent G. Loiselle, 83, of 2024 Castano Place, formerly of Leominster, Mass., died Wednesday, April 4, in Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Madeline F. (Goodale) Loiselle; two sons, Kevin M. and Bruce A. Loiselle, both of Leominster; two daughters, Sheryl A. Gough of Leominster and Linda L. Kullmann of Westminster, Mass.; two brothers, Albert “Vic” Loiselle of Leominster and and Edward Loiselle of Wrentham, Mass.; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Marcelle Hannaford and Annette Baer, predeceased him. Born in Fitchburg, Mass., son of Albert and Albertine Loiselle, he lived most of his life in Leominster before moving to Florida more than three years ago. He was a World War II Navy veteran who served in the South Pacific. He served two years in the Massachusetts National Guard.

Mr. Loiselle worked at Union Products Inc. in Leominster, retiring in 1979. After retiring, he worked at Il Camino Restaurant in Leominster.

He was a member of St. Leo's Parish in Leominster, the Leominster Lodge of Elks, the St. Jean Club and the Knights of Columbus, all in Leominster. He was a past president and former coach for North Leominster Little League.

He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing cribbage.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, in St. Leo's Parish, 108 Main St., Leominster. After cremation, burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association Inc., 33 Lyman St., Westboro, MA 01581. Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home, 132 Woodland St., Fitchburg, is directing arrangements.

Angelina Lopriore, 85

SHREWSBURY -- Angelina (Montecalvo) Lopriore, 85, of 20B Crescent St., formerly Hancock Street, died Thursday, April 12, at home after being stricken ill. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

Ludger C. Morin, 91

FITCHBURG -- Ludger C. Morin, 91, formerly of 36 Reingold Ave., a retired manager, died Tuesday, April 3, in Birchwood Care Center after an illness.

His wife, Agnes A. (Koski) Morin, died Aug. 28. He leaves three daughters, Jacqueline Paton of Merrimac, N.H., Lorraine Morin of Hyde Park, N.Y., and Donna Bernard of Fitchburg; two brothers, Emile Morin of Fitchburg and Joseph Morin of Leominster; a sister, Rose Morin of Fitchburg; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Gideon and Mary (Paradise) Morin.

Mr. Morin was in management at J.P. Stevens in Dracut and Lowell, retiring in 1968. He previously worked with American Woolen in Maynard.

There are no funeral services planned. There are no calling hours. Lavery Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., is directing arrangements.

Robert Lumenello, 63

Tuesday, April 10, 2001

LOWELL -- Robert C. Lumenello, 63, of Cape Cod, formerly of Lowell, died Thursday, April 5, in Stanley R. Tippett Home in Needham after a long illness.

He leaves a daughter; a son, Scott H. Lumenello of Worcester; two brothers; a granddaughter; nephews and nieces. He attended Northeastern University in Boston.

Mr. Lumenello was an insurance broker for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance and Metropolitan Life Insurance for more than 23 years.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, in McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland St. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours are from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Polly's Place, First Lutheran Church, Route 3A, West Barnstable, MA 02632.

Jeannette Lussier, 85

FITCHBURG -- Jeannette M. (Mineault) “Peg” Lussier, 85, of 137 Clarendon St., a retired clerk, died Wednesday, April 4, in Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Her husband, George A. Lussier, died in 1985. She leaves a son, Steven G. Lussier of Fitchburg; three sisters, her twin, Annette B. Auger, Claire Fletcher, and Marcy McManus, all of Fitchburg; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Prudence M. Fleck of Fitchburg, died in 1995. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Joseph L. and Emma (Isabelle) Mineault.

Mrs. Lussier was an office clerk and secretary more than 50 years at Fitchburg Optical Co.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, in St. Joseph's Church, 46 Woodland St. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St. Donations may be made to St. Joseph's School, 35 Columbus St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

Eric B. MacLean, 18

Tuesday, April 3, 2001

OAK BLUFFS -- Eric B. MacLean, 18, of Oak Bluffs, died Wednesday, March 28, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Oak Bluffs.

He leaves his parents; a sister; two brothers; his maternal grandmother; his paternal grandmother, Ester MacLean of Worcester; aunts and uncles. A maternal and paternal grandparent predeceased him.

Mr. MacLean was a senior at Martha's Vineyard High School, and had plans to join the Marine Corps in September. He played hockey and football, and worked for the Town of Tisbury Highway Department as part of a work-study program at school.

He enjoyed fishing.

A service was held Saturday, March 31, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oak Bluffs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Ghost Society's Benevolent Fund, PO Box 2203, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557 or c/o the Martha's Vineyard Co-Operative Bank, PO Box 766, Tisbury, MA 02568. Chapman, Cole, and Gleason Funeral Home is directing arrangements.
