DUDLEY -- Cecelia T. (Piasta) Milas, 86, of 14 Short St., Taunton, formerly of Dudley, a former winder, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Morton Hospital and Medical Center, Taunton.

Her husband of 60 years, Walter A. Milas, died in 1993. She leaves a daughter, Sylvia A. Medeiros of Taunton; a brother, Joseph Piasta Jr. of Webster; three sisters, Theresa Zabka of Dudley, Barbara Nowak of Webster and Josephine Wagner of Florida; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nephews and nieces. She was born in Dudley, daughter of Joseph Piasta Sr. and Anna (Papierski) Piasta.

Mrs. Milas worked at Stevens Linen Co. and then was a winder at Elegant Yarn Co., Webster. She was a longtime member of St. Andrew Bobola Church.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, from Scanlon Funeral Home, East Main Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Webster. A calling hour is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in the funeral home.

Ralph F. Norton Sr., 77

OXFORD -- Ralph F. Norton Sr., 77, of Highland Avenue, a World War II veteran and a retired machinist, died Thursday, Feb. 22, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Eleanor L. (Gardner) Norton; three sons, Richard F. Norton Sr. of Webster, Raymond A. Norton of Worcester, and Ralph F. Norton Jr. of Dudley; two daughters, Janet L. Norton and Jean A. Brousseau, both of Oxford; four sisters, Melva Pickett, Marietta White, and Mildred Brosnihan, all of Millbury, and Margaret Smith of Oxford; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Four brothers, Raymond Norton of Las Cruces, N.M., Eugene Norton of Richmond, Va., George Norton of Englewood, Fla., and Robert Norton of Millbury, predeceased him. He was born in Millbury, son of Ralph E. and Melva (Hutchinson) Norton, and lived in Millbury before moving to Oxford 53 years ago.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he participated in the invasion of Normandy.

Mr. Norton was a machinist more than 30 years for George Meyer Co., West Boylston, retiring in 1981. He was a member and former treasurer of the Steelworker Union, a longtime Little League manager in Oxford, and a former member of the Oxford Recreation Commission. He enjoyed camping and square dancing.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St. Burial will be in North Cemetery. A calling hour is 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clark Manor Nursing Home, c/o Lauren Ota, Activities Fund, 1350 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603.

Barbara Philbrick, 44

FITCHBURG -- Barbara Ann (Morris) Philbrick, 44, of 37 Wanoosnoc Road, died Sunday, Feb. 25, at home after a long illness.

She leaves a daughter, Katelyn M. Philbrick of Fitchburg; her mother, Mary (Coleman) Morris of Fitchburg; two brothers, Peter F. Morris of Plainfield, N.J. and James P. Morris of Virginia Beach, Va.: a sister, Carolyn St. Louis of Huntsville, Ala.; four stepchildren, Tracy Griffin of Ayer, Terry Philbrick in Nevada, Melissa Ford of Littleton, and Robyn Chapman of Fort Campbell, Ky.; many nieces and nephews. A son, Robert Philbrick, died in 1982. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Harold Morris, and lived in Townsend many years, before moving to Fitchburg 19 years ago. She graduated from North Middlesex High School in Townsend in 1974.

She was a former member of St. John's Parish in Townsend.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, in Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Katelyn M. Philbrick Trust Fund, C/O HMEA, 101 Constitution Bvld., Franklin, MA 02038.

Doris L. Plante, 87

MILLBURY -- Doris L. (Sharon) Plante, 87, of 29 Main St., a retired winder, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Providence House Nursing Home after a short illness.

Her husband, Arthur Plante, predeceased her. She leaves a sister, Ethel I. Schunmann of Millbury; several nephews and nieces. She was born in Millbury, daughter of George and Eva (Lachapelle) Sharon, and lived most of life in Millbury and several years in Worcester.

Mrs. Plante was a winder many years at the S & D Spinning Mill, retiring in 1978.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 10 Waters St. After cremation, burial will be in Notre Dame des Canadiens Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers. Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., is directing arrangements.

Joseph P. Shea, 35

WORCESTER -- Joseph P. Shea, 35, of 7 Vivian St., died Saturday, Feb. 17, at a friend's residence in Worcester after an illness.

He leaves three brothers, Francis “Rico” and Edward L. Shea, both of Worcester, and Richard S. Shea of St. Petersburg, Fla.; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Richard H. and Anne (Maneely) Shea, and lived many years in Worcester. He attended North High School.

Mr. Shea was an electrical worker in the construction field and formerly owned Proteck Communications Co. He enjoyed sketching, painting and weightlifting.

The funeral service and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St., is directing arrangements.

Patricia Silkman, 71

Saturday, February 24, 2001

DENNIS -- Patricia (Hargrove) Silkman, 71, of East Dennis, formerly of Worcester, who was active in area medical organizations, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, in Eagle Pond Rehabilitation & Living Center, after a long illness.

She leaves her husband of 50 years, Dr. Robert J. Silkman; two sons, Richard H. Silkman of Yarmouth, Maine, and Jeffrey R. Silkman of Worcester; a daughter, Toby S. Mooney of Taunton; a brother, Theodore Hargrove of Sanford, Maine; eight grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Mary (Cerasale) Hargrove, and moved to East Dennis in 1984. She graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Silkman was president of the Worcester City Hospital Aid Society and Fairlawn Hospital Auxiliary, treasurer of the Massachusetts Women's Auxiliary to the Medical Society, and director of Health Career Mobile Studies. She was a gardener, artist and homemaker, and enjoyed water aerobics and travel.

The memorial service will be held in May. Private burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675; or to Make-a-Wish Foundation, 50 Milk St., Boston, MA 02109. Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main St., West Harwich, is directing arrangements.

Alexandria Soares, 77

MILFORD -- Alexandria C. Soares, 77, of 53 Lawrence St., a retired floor person, died Sunday, Feb. 25, in Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital.

She leaves her husband of 37 years, Joseph Soares; a stepson, David Soares of Milford; two sisters, Lourdes Alemedia and Maria dos Anjos, both of Portugal; nieces and nephews. She was born in Corticou Da-Serra, Portugal, and moved to Milford in 1964.

Mrs. Soares was a floor person at the former Anthony Robert Co., retiring in 1980.

She was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Winter Street. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cedar Street. There are no calling hours. Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., is directing arrangements.

Eric P. Tully, 33

SOUTHBRIDGE -- Eric P. Tully, 33, of Breckenridge, Colo., formerly of Southbridge, died Saturday, Feb. 24, in his home.

He leaves his parents, Michael and Gloria (Cabana) Tully of Quinebaug, Conn.; a brother, Michael Tully of Windham, Conn.; two sisters, Lisa Anderson of Southbridge and Barbara Tully of Tampa, Fla.; his maternal grandparents, Normand and Lorraine (Proulx) Cabana of Southbridge, nephews and nieces. He was born in Southbridge and has lived in Breckenridge for the past few years.

Mr. Tully was employed by the town of Breckenridge. He enjoyed snow boarding and outdoor sports in the Colorado mountains.

The funeral will be held Thursday, March 1, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 30 Charlton St. Burial will be in New Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the funeral home.

William F. Tully, 78

MARLBORO -- William F. Tully, 78, of Marlboro, a World War II veteran and a retired postal clerk, died Saturday, April 28, in Leonard Morse Hospital, Natick, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife, Barbara (Myles) Fabens Tully; a daughter, Dianne Leland of Marlboro; a brother, A. Rodney Tully of Brockton; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. His first wife, Shirley (Green) Tully, died in 1983. He was born in Boston, son of William and Isabel (McClellan) Tully. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving overseas as a military policeman.

Mr. Tully was a clerk at the Framingham Post Office before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion post in Plymouth.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, in Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Burial will be in Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth. Calling hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 30, in the funeral home.

James W. Wahlig, 86

Albert J. Bourassa Sr.

AUBURN -- Albert J. Bourassa Sr., 75, of 25 Shore Drive, a World War II veteran, died Saturday, March 3, at St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center in Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 23 years, Jean M. (Miller) Bourassa; three sons, Albert J. Bourassa Jr. of Hockley, Texas, Ronald Bourassa of South Portland, Maine, and Victor Bourassa of Napa, Calif.; three daughters, Sandra Richer of Leicester, Linda Early of Brimfield, and Theresa Grant of Charlton; two brothers, Robert Bourassa of Brookline, N.H. and Leo Bourassa of Auburn; two sisters, Doris Vigeant of Auburn and Claire Spillane of Worcester; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A brother, Ernest Bourassa, died in 1995, and another brother, Henry Bourassa, died in 1967. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was born in Worcester, son of Albert E. and Dora (Roy) Bourassa, and lived in Charlton, Rochdale, Hubbardston, and East Brookfield before moving to Auburn in 1984.

He was a carpenter and cabinetmaker many years, and owned Custom Carpentry, retiring in 1986. Along with his wife, he also owned Jay's Package Store in Hubbardston from 1978 to 1983.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the Worcester Lodge of Elks, and was a past member of the Warren American Legion Post.

He enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing, and reading.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Mar. 8, from the Morrison-Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., Leicester, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery, Rochdale. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn, MA 01501 or the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

George H. Mongeau, 71

STERLING -- Mark A. Antul, 45, of 123 John Dee Road, died Friday, March 2, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 22 years, Marian J. (Allen) Antul; two daughters, Jessica M. and Laura E. Antul, both at home; his parents, Stanley B. and Janet A. (Matejko) Antul of Worcester; two brothers, Henry J. Antul of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Robert J. Antul of Worcester; three sisters, Mary A. Walters of Worcester, Cheryl A. Tomaiolo of West Boylston, and Christine M. Antul of Worcester; and nephews and nieces. Born in Holden, he graduated from Burncoat High School in Worcester. He moved 23 years ago to Sterling.

Mr. Antul worked 25 years for Norton Co.

He was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church. He enjoyed boating.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 7, from Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St. Spring burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Why Me? Inc., 316 Main St., Worcester, MA 01608.
