Robert E. O'Neil, 79, was dentist, educator

Monday, January 29, 2001

WORCESTER -- Dr. Robert E. O'Neil, 79, of Worcester and West Dennis, a dentist, educator, and Navy veteran of World War II, died Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

He leaves his wife, Katherine (Collins) O'Neil; two sons, Robert E. O'Neil, Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Daniel O'Neil of Somerville; a daughter, Caitlin O'Neil of Cambridge; and a sister, Pauline O'Neil of Stoneham. Two brothers, Rev. Daniel J. O'Neil, C.S.C. and Paul O'Neil, predeceased him. He was born in East Boston, son of Daniel J. and Katherine (McKeogh) O'Neil, and moved to Worcester in 1953. He summered for many years in West Dennis. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Atlantic and the Pacific. He graduated from Tufts University and its School of Dental Medicine, and later received its Alumni Prize in Oral Surgery. He completed his training at Bellevue Hospital in New York City and spent another year at Nassau County General Hospital on Long Island. While teaching at Tufts Dental School, he served on the staffs of Worcester City, Fairlawn, Memorial, and Hahneman hospitals, the UMass Medical Center and St. Vincent Hospital, where he was chief of the dental service until his retirement in 1987.

He was a member of Christ the King Church, Worcester District Dental Society, Massachusetts Dental Society, American Dental Society, American Society of Dental Anesthesia and the American Society of Oral and Maxilofacial Surgery, where he was a board member and a diplomate.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 31, from the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, 559 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605 or to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, 1 Kneeland St., Boston, MA 02111.

Kelsie J.R. O'Neill, 3

HOLDEN -- Kelsie J.R. O'Neill, 3, of Holden, died Thursday, Jan. 25, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, after suffering from Krabbe's disease.

She leaves her parents, William F. and Karen L. (Ducharme) O'Neill of Holden; two brothers, Evan W.S. O'Neill of Holden and Ryan Marcotte of Winthrop; a sister, Elisa Agri of Salem; her paternal grandmother, Susan M. (Fleming) O'Neill of Yarmouthport; her maternal grandparents, Robert A. and Annette (Judd) Ducharme of Amherst, N.H.; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Riley K. and Sean R. O'Neill, both predeceased her. She was born in Worcester.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 67 Chester St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kelsie J.R. Thomas J. O'Neill Sr.

Tuesday, July 24, 2001

AUBURN -- Thomas J. O'Neill Sr., 72, of 7 Buron Terrace, died Friday, July 20, at home after an illness.

He leaves two sons, Thomas J. O'Neill Jr. of North Oxford and John J. O'Neill of Charlton; two daughters, Kathleen A. Beaudet of Auburn and Carolyn Wilson of Charlton; 10 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Millville, son of Raymond J. and Mary M. (Logan) O'Neill.

He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. O'Neill was a grinder for the Norton Co. in Worcester, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Chester P. Tuttle Post 279, the North Alumni.

Burial will be private in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. There are no calling hours. Graham, Putnam, and Mahoney Funeral Parlor, 838 Main St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

Antoinnette O'Reilly, 83

UPTON -- Antoinnette E. “Ann” (Massey) O'Reilly, 83, formerly of Main St., a retired billing clerk, died Thursday, Feb. 1, at Beaumont Rehab and Nursing, Northbridge, after an illness.

Her husband of 55 years, Charles T. O'Reilly, died in 1998. She leaves a brother, Sylva “Benny” Massey, of Northbridge; 23 nephews and nieces; 67 great nephews and great-nieces. Eight brothers, Ovila, Dolar, Henry, Delbert, Eugene, Alphe, Arthur and Gerard Massey; and two sisters, Estelle Turgeon and Jeannette Massey. She was born in Northbridge, daughter of Henry and Rose (Clapin) Massey and lived in Upton and the Whitinsville section of Northbridge. She was educated in the Northbridge public school system.

Mrs O'Reilly was a billing clerk for the Eli Sandman Co., Worcester, for 21 years, retiring in 1983. She previously worked at Graton and Knight, Worcester, in the payroll and sales department. After her retirement, she continued to work part time for Friendly Ice Cream, Whitinsville, and Bed and Bath at the Auburn Mall. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and its Bereavement Group. She enjoyed reading and needlepoint.

Her funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 5, from the Jackman Fuenral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Cross St. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. A calling hour is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Renovation Fund, 7 East St., PO Box 60, Whitinsville, MA 01588.

AnnMarie Ouellette, 20

SPENCER -- AnnMarie Ouellette, 20, of Auburndale, Fla., formerly of Spencer, died Friday, Jan. 26, at home.

She leaves her mother and stepfather, Mary A. Harrison and Joseph W. Harrison Jr. of Auburndale; her father and stepmother, Steven F. Ouellette and Tracy L. Ouellette of Spencer; a brother, Steven L. Ouellette of Spencer; a sister, Amanda Harrison of Auburndale; her paternal grandparents, Francis G. and Gloria Ouellette of Spencer; her maternal grandmother, Patricia Lund of Worcester; her paternal step-grandparents, Patricia and Steven Stockmall of Spencer; her maternal step-grandparents, Conrad and Elizabeth Avery of Winter Haven, Fla. She was born in Spencer, and moved to Florida in 1999. She graduated from David Prouty High School.

Ms. Ouellette was a cashier at USA Minimart in Winter Haven.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Feb. 1, from Nordgren, Carrigan, Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 60 Maple St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in the funeral home.

Della G. Paakkonen, 90

GARDNER -- Della G. (Johnson) Paakkonen, 90, of 95 Pelley St., died Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. The Westminster Chapel of Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main St., Westminster, is directing arrangements.

Theresa E. Pageau, 32

WORCESTER -- Theresa E. Pageau, 32, of 48 Purchase St., a day care center owner, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, at home after an illness.

She leaves her mother, Charlotte D. (Pierce) Pageau; a nephew and a niece. Her father, Francis E. Pageau, died in 1999, and an uncle, Robert Pageau, died in 1998. She was born in Worcester, and attended Quinsigamond Community College. She graduated from Travel Educational School.

She competed in the Miss Teen USA Pageant in 1984. As Miss Worcester, she volunteered at Worcester State Hospital for many years.

Ms. Pageau was a travel agent many years, and was the founder and owner of the Lady Bug Day Care Center. She was a licensed day care provider at the time of her death.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Church.

The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 2, from Arthur S. Manzi & Son Funeral Home and Garden Chapel, 179 Shrewsbury St., with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Heart Transplant Department, 4 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02115.

Armas E. Pakkila Jr.

GARDNER -- Armas E. Pakkila Jr., 58, of 249 South Main St., died Friday, Feb. 2, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital.

He leaves his wife of eight years, Margaret (Sparks) Pakkila; a son, Erick Pakkila of Gardner; two daughters, Tina Albano of Hampden and Cynthia Caron of Sterling; his parents, Armas and Irene (Wiinipainen) Pakkila of Westminster; and two brothers, Richard Pakkila of Georgetown and Timothy Pakkila of Westminster. He was born in Fitchburg, and was a graduate of Gardner High School. He served in the Marine Corps.

Mr. Pakkila worked 20 years at Simond Saw & Steel Co.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1200 John Fitch Highway, Fitchburg. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Hospice Care, 69 High St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

Elaine B. Parnell, 93

WOONSOCKET, R.I. -- Elaine B. Parnell, 93, of 303 Rhodes Ave., formerly of Millville, Mass., a retired post office worker, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Friendly Nursing Home after an illness.

She leaves two nephews, Dr. Francis W. Parnell of Ross, Calif., and Frederick W. Harnett of Woonsocket; and three nieces, Thelma A. Kroll of Northboro, Mass., Roberta J. Coady of Holliston, Mass., and Joanne Mungeon of Onset, Mass. She was born in Millville, daughter of William P. and Catherine (Bryan) Parnell, and lived more than 70 years in Millville.

Miss Parnell was a secretary at Masurel Mills and worked at the Millville Post Office, retiring in 1971. She was a member of St. Monica's Guild at St. Augustine's Church, Millville, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

The funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, from James E. Kellett & Sons Funeral Home, 38 Main St., Blackstone, Mass., with a Mass at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, South Main Street. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Blackstone. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Parish Restoration Fund, 414 South Main St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.

Manfredo L. Pascarelli

LEOMINSTER -- Manfredo L. Pascarelli, 80, of 571 Union St., a retired mold maker and Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, died Saturday, Feb. 3, in the Highlands, Fitchburg, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth A. (Rocca) Pascarelli; a son, Mark S. Pascarelli of Marlboro; two daughters, Cheryl A. Starek of Shrewsbury, and Andrea M. Vaillette of Leominster; four sisters, Dionizia “Dionne” Farinelli of Fitchburg, Italia Bottalico, Cornelia “Connie” Ingemi and Edonia “Patty” Ingemi, all of Leominster; and five grandchildren. He was born in Leominster, the son of Luigi and Teresa (Grasso) Pascarelli. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, serving as a B-25 flight engineer and gunner.

Mr. Pascarelli was for many years a mold maker at the former Burton Tool and Die Co., before retiring in 1984.

An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Leominster Sportsmen's Club.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7, from the Silas F. Richardson and Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster St. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or to the Parkinson's Disease Association, 720 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118.

Olga Passios, 78

LEOMINSTER -- Olga Passios, 78, of 49 Stuart Ave., a retired technical secretary, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester.

She leaves four sisters, Alexandra Ripperton of Chapel Hill, N.C., Athena Grant and Dorothea Passios, both of San Diego, and Anne Ashare of Brookhaven, N.Y.; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. A brother, Thomas C. Passios, died in 1977. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Constantine and Constantina (Kalivas) Passios, and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1941.

Miss Passios was a technical secretary for Haynes, Lieneck & Smith, Inc. Architects, Ashby, and its former affiliate company, Construction Development Corp., retiring in 1982. She previously was a director and clerk for both corporations.

At her request, the funeral service and burial will be held at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St., Fitchburg, MA 01420; or to another charity.

Betty E. Patt, 84

FRAMINGHAM -- Betty E. Patt, 84, of 300 West Farm Pond Road, formerly of Worcester, a retired nurse and Army Nurse Corps veteran of World War II, died Friday, Jan. 26, at Apple Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ayer after an illness.

She leaves a sister, Phoebe Solod of Phoenix; many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; great-grandnieces; and a great-great-grandniece. Born in Boston, daughter of Jacob and Yetta (Ostroff) Patt, she was raised in Worcester, and lived 20 years in Randolph before moving 25 years ago to Framingham. She graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester, and from the former Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing in Boston.

She was a lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II, serving in the United States and in England.

After the war, Ms. Patt was a nurse at the Veterans Administration hospitals, first at Cushing Hospital, Framingham, and later at the VA Hospital, Jamaica Plains, retiring in 1976.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in B'Nai B'rith Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Albert F. Pearson, 70

LEOMINSTER -- Albert F. Pearson, 70, of 102 Bel Air Heights, a retired maintenance manager and Korean War veteran, died Monday, Feb. 5, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth (Nadeau) Pearson; three sons, Joseph Pearson of Leominster, Michael Pearson of Athol, and Daniel Pearson of Winchendon; two daughters, Normajean Lucier of Athol and Lisa LeBlanc of Leominster; and a sister, Claire Peterson of Fitchburg. Two sisters, Lucille Shaw and Yvonne Pearson of Fitchburg, predeceased him. Born in Fitchburg, son of Joseph and Eylantine (Marien) Pearson, he served as staff sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. Pearson was a former maintenance manager at Inland Consumer Packaging.

He was a member of the Leominster Sportsmen's Club; the Singletary Rod & Gun Club of Oxford; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Millbury; and St. Cecilia Church.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, 180 Mechanic St. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688 or the Arthritis Foundation, 29 Crafts St., Newton, MA 02158.
