Anne Elizabeth Hall
Osterville - Anne Elizabeth (Reid) Hall of Osterville, died at home on May 9, 1998 after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Delton Crosby Hall.
Born in Alexandra, Scotland, she came to this country as a child, living first in Franklin and Topsfield before coming to the Cape with her family. She attended Barnstable schools.
Mrs. Hall was a charter member of the Osterville Garden Club and Osterville Historical Society, She was active in the United Methodist Church of Osterville and a volunteer at Cape Cod Hospital Thrift Shop and Cape Cod Council of Churches Thrift Shop.
Her many interests included gardening and flower arranging, winning many awards for her elegant designs.
Surviving are four daughters, Elizabeth H. "Betsy" McIntyre of Osterville, Alison R. Audibert of Centerville, Leslie H. Rowell of Bellingham and Laurie H. Chase of Sandwich; a sister, Elspeth Hall of Osterville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on May 16 at the United Methodist Church, Osterville. Burial was private.

Charles H. Hazelton, 76
Centerville - Charles H. Hazelton, 76, a retired plumber, died on May 12, 1998 at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville.
He was the husband of Helen (Barry) Hazelton for 50 years.
Mr. Hazelton was born in Hyannis and educated in Barnstable schools. He lived in Hyannis for many years before moving to Centerville 25 years ago.
He was a plumber for P & R Plumbing in West Barnstable before starting his own business. He retired in 1985.
A Word War II Army veteran, he was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church, a former call firefighter for the Hyannis Fire Department and a former member of the American Legion in Hyannis.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Ann Marie Mrozinski of Marstons Mills and C. Scott Hazelton of Bristol, Conn.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on May 15 at Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.

Ruth B. Lattinville, 75
Centerville - Ruth B. (Mahar) Lattinville, 75, formerly of Fitchburg and Las Vegas, died May 7, 1998 at Hospice House, Barnstable.
She was the wife of George Lattinville, who died in 1990.
Born in Fitchburg, Mrs. Lattinville was an accountant for Iver Johnson in Fitchburg for 30 years.
She lived in Las Vegas for six years before moving to Centerville in 1992.
She is survived by two sisters, Helen M. Mahar of Las Vegas and Mary G. Lemay of Centerville.
Services were private.

Helen F. Mullins, 80
Centerville - Helen Frances Mullins, 80, died yesterday in the Cape Cod Extended Care Manor, Hyannis, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Brockton, she moved to Centerville in 1975.
She was employed in the offices of the Knapp Shoe Co. in Brockton for several years, and later by the Massachusetts Division of Employment Security as a principal interviewer in the Brockton and Hyannis offices. She retired in 1980 from the Hyannis office.
Ms. Mullins was a member of the Friends of the Centerville Library and the Centerville Historical Society. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville.
She is survived by her sister, Agnes Mullins of Centerville, with whom she made her home, and several cousins, including John McGowan of Hyannis, Paul Doherty of Centerville, and Mary Lundgren of West Yarmouth.
The funeral began at 8 a.m. on May 20, 1998 from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, Brockton, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Colman's Church. Burial was in Cavalry Cemetery, Brockton.
Bertrand L. Plante, Sr., 84
Hyannis - Bertrand L. Plante Sr., 84, a 19 year Cape Cod resident, died on May 15, 1998 at Deaconess Hospital in Boston of complications from heart surgery.
He was the husband of Rosette (Gagnon) Plante, who died in 1984. They were married for 44 years.
Mr. Plante was born and educated in Fall River and had lived on Cape Cod since 1979. He received an undergraduate degree from the College de Montreal in 1931 and a master's equivalent from the Sorbonne in Paris before teaching college for a year in Poitiers, France.
Fluent in both French and English, Mr. Plante founded a bilingual newspaper, Fall River Contact, upon his return from Europe, and served as editor and publisher of the weekly for two years. He then began a 50-year career as an insurance representative for several companies, including New York Life, Les Artisans and Life USA.
He lived in Worcester from 1954 to 1979 and sang in the choir at Holy Name Church. His hobbies included sports, especially tennis, as well as reading and automobiles.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Y. Boucher of South Dennis; four sons, Bertrand L. Plante Jr. of Fall River, Robert A. Plante of Lincoln Park, N.J., Albert G. Plante of East Bridgewater and Richard A. Plante of Hyannis; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on May 18 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis.

Charles W. Reed, 76
East Longmeadow - Charles W. Reed, 76, who leaves a son in West Hyannisport, died May 6, 1998 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
He was the husband of Charlotte T. (Leahy) Reed for 51 years.
Born in Springfield, he was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and lived in East Longmeadow for 54 years. He retired from the East Longmeadow School Department in 1976.
Mr. Reed was a member of the Passionist Retreat League and the Forest Park Hall of Fame Group.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Stephen F. Reed of East Longmeadow and Matthew B. Reed of West Hyannisport; four daughters, Kathleen R. Woodbury of Milford and Patricia E. Hawley, Nora R. Dion and Maureen R. Sonoda, all of East Longmeadow; a brother, Robert Reed of West Springfield; and 11 grandchildren.
He was also the father of Cheryl M. Reed, who died in 1991.
Services were held in Wilbraham.

Russell Stetson, 89
Osterville - Russell Stetson, 89, a retired engineer, died on May 9, 1998 at his home in Osterville.
He was the husband of Louise (Clarke) Stetson for more than 60 years.
Born in Haverhill, Mr. Stetson was a graduate of MIT. He worked as an engineer for Emerson & Cumming Inc. in Canton.
He retired in 1979 and moved to Osterville.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, David C. Stetson of Naples, Maine, and Robert C. Stetson of Sharon; a brother, Paul Stetson of Lexington; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial was private.

Gladys L. Anderson, 88
West Hyannisport - Gladys L. Anderson, 88, a retired secretary, died on May 17, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital.
She was the wife of Carl G. Anderson for 62 years.
Born in Worcester, she lived in Millbury before moving to West Hyannisport in 1970. She graduated from Millbury High School and Becker Business College in Worcester.
She worked as a secretary for the former F.D. Perry Co. of Worcester for 20 years and then for R.H. White Construction Co. of Auburn for 20 years until her retirement in 1979. She traveled back and forth from the Cape to Auburn.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the South Congregational Church in Centerville, Hyannis Progressive Club, Hyannis Garden Club and a past matron of Stella Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Auburn.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Robert C. Anderson of Auburn and Carl A. Anderson of Webster; a daughter, Marion M. Johnson of South Yarmouth; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on May 27 at the South Congregational Church of Centerville.
A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. on June 23 in the New Swedish Cemetery, Worcester.

Joan Brown, 71
Hyannis - Joan (Bromley) Brown, 71, of Hyannis, a YMCA volunteer in its special needs aquatic program, died unexpectedly at her home on May 19, 1998.
She was the wife of the late William S. Brown Jr.
Mrs. Brown graduated from Dedham High School and received her registered nurse degree from New England Baptist Hospital. She lived in Syracuse, N.Y., for 17 years, where she worked with handicapped children. Mrs. Brown moved to Hyannis in 1983.
She was an avid swimmer at the YMCA and also volunteered at the JFK Museum and the senior day care program at the Centerville Recreation Building.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Janette Anderson of Marstons Mills; a sister, Marilyn Ives of Simsbury, Conn.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the Cape Cod Conservatory, West Barnstable at noon on May 24 followed by a reception at 1 p.m. at the YMCA of Cape Cod. Donations in her name may be made to the YMCA, 2245 Iyanough Rd., West Barnstable, MA 02668.
