William J. Joyce, 76

NORTHBORO -- William J. Joyce, 76, of 28B Village Drive, formerly of 107 Main St., a World War II veteran and a former salesman, died Monday, Feb. 5, in Marlboro Hospital after a long illness.

He leaves two sons, Michael W. Joyce of Hudson and Jeffrey P. Joyce of Bolton; a brother, Robert Joyce of San Antonio; two sisters, Mary Broderick of Northboro and Beverly Greim of Florida; nephews and nieces. He was born in Marlboro, son of Christopher C. and Delia (Mitchell) Joyce. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.

In the 1970s, Mr. Joyce was a salesman for Fitchburg Gas and Electric Co. He was a life member of American Legion Post 234 and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9013, Westboro.

The funeral service will be private. There are no calling hours. Leland-Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., is directing arrangements.

John Kaddaras, 86

SOUTHBRIDGE -- John Kaddaras, 86, of 43 Blanchard Drive, a World War II veteran and a retired business owner and operator, died Monday, Jan. 29, in Renaissance Nursing Home, Westfield.

His wife, Pauline (Sotir) Kaddaras, died in 1985. He leaves two sons, John W. Kaddaras of Granby, Conn., and Michael J. Kaddaras of Chandler, Ariz.; a brother, James Kaddaras of Wakefield; a granddaughter; nephews and nieces. He was born in Peabody, son of Christos and Pauline (Economou) Kaddaras. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Kaddaras owned and operated Mom's Bakery before retiring. He was a member of AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) and a former member of the Exchange Club.

The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 2, from Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., with a service at 11 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 50 North St. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or donations made to Alzheimer's Support Network, PO Box 839, Southbridge, MA 01550.

Sahag Kalashian, 70

Monday, January 29, 2001

WATERTOWN -- Sahag Kalashian, 70, of Watertown, formerly of Worcester, died Saturday, Jan. 27, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after a long illness.

His wife, Mary (Hartunian) Kalashian, predeceased him. He leaves a daughter, Judie Kalashian of Watertown; a son, Daniel Kalashian of Marlboro; two grandchildren; two brothers, Sarkis Kalashian of Longmeadow and Daniel Kalashian of California; a sister, Theresa Degermajian of Worcester; his mother, Mary (Dadian) Kalashian of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, son of Daniel Kalashian. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Kalashian was an accountant at Boston City Hospital in Boston.

He was a member of St. James Armenian Church and its choir. He was a member of the American Legion Band in Waltham.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in St. James Armenian Church, 465 Mount Auburn St. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in the Aram Bedrosian Funeral Home, 558 Mount Auburn St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sahag and Mary Kalashian Memorial Music Scholarship Fund, c/o Roy Fowler, 45 Hollace St., Waltham, MA 02453-7051.

Patricia E. B. Kane, 59

WORCESTER -- Patricia E. (Cather) Bolan Kane, 59, of Worcester, died Monday, Jan. 29, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

She leaves a daughter, Karen Eckerly of Atlanta; a sister, Dianna Kolesnik of Worcester; and two grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of William P. and Alice H. (Larson) Cather.

The funeral service will be held at the family's convenience. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., is directing arrangements.

Hans J. Kanerva, 91

WEST BOYLSTON -- Hans J. Kanerva, 91, of 88 Horseshoe Drive, a veteran of two wars and a retired wheel maker, died Friday, Jan. 26, in Blair House of Worcester after an illness.

He leaves a son, Ronald H. Kanerva of West Boylston; a daughter, Jolynne M. Kanerva of Worcester; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; and a close companion, Margaret M. Bragg of Auburn. A sister, Kay Anderson of Auburn, died Tuesday, Jan. 9. He was born in Helsinki, Finland, son of Kusti and Emma (Fagerholm) Kanerva. and graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Kanerva was a wheel maker for 35 years at Norton Co., Worcester, retiring in 1972.

He was a life member, past commander and quartermaster of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6907, and a life member of Harold N. Keith American Legion Post. He enjoyed bowling and bowled with the Norton Co. league.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, in Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St. Burial will be at the family's convenience in Mount Vernon Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Boylston Fire and Ambulance Fund, 39 Worcester St., West Boylston, MA 01583.

Allan V. Kaustinen, 73

LEOMINSTER -- Allan V. Kaustinen, 73, of 18 Eden Glen, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, in the Leo P. LaChance Center, Gardner, after an illness.

His wife, Alice M. (Sears) Kaustinen, died in 1992. He leaves a daughter, Donna M. Archambeault of Leominster; a grandson, Alex P. Archambeault of Leominster; a granddaughter, Emily A. Archambeault of Leominster. he was born in Fitchburg, son of Kaarlo W. and Helga (Rauma) Kaustinen, and lived 43 years in Leominster.

Mr. Kaustinen was a custodian 25 years at Fitchburg State College, retiring in 1995. He previously worked at the former Hedstrom Union in Fitchburg and Bates Corrugated Box in Townsend.

He received the Pride In Performance Award in 1987 from former Gov. Michael Dukakis. He was a member of the Leominster Senior Citizens.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in the funeral home.

Eleanor R. Keaney, 82

WORCESTER -- Eleanor R. (O'Leary) Keaney, 82, of 45 Greendale Ave., a retired payroll officer, died at home Thursday, Feb. 1, after a short illness.

Her husband, Paul R. Keaney Sr., died in 1988. She leaves a son, Paul R. Keaney Jr. of Arundel, Maine; a sister, Mary Ford of Worcester; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Maureen P. Johnson of Shrewsbury, died in 1997. Another daughter, Katherine Keaney, a son, Kevin Keaney, and a brother, John O'Leary, also predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John M. and Nellie M. (Foley) O'Leary, and graduated from Commerce High School.

Mrs. Keaney was a payroll officer for more than 20 years in the City of Worcester treasurer's office before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and the State, County, and Municipal Employees Association.

The funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 5, from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children Hospital, Shriners Burns Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114-2699.

Frank M. Kelley, 69

NORTHBRIDGE -- Frank M. Kelley, 69, of 10 Delmar Drive, Whitinsville, died Saturday, Jan. 28, in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 29 years, Joan A. (Richard) Kelley; a son, William A. Kelley of Derry, N.H.; a sister, Kathleen Smith of Sun City, Ariz.; a granddaughter; several nephews and nieces. A brother, Thomas Kelley of Maine, and a sister, Colleen Harrison of New York, predeceased him. He was born in LaPorte, Ind., son of Frank M. and Ethel (Moore) Kelley, and lived in Grafton before moving to Whitinsville 24 years ago. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Currina High School in Michigan.

Mr. Kelley was a custodian 18 years for Data General Corp. in Westboro, retiring in 1992.

He enjoyed drawing and painting.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 1, from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Cross Street. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Providence Road. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in the funeral home.

Frances T. Kelley, 90

WORCESTER -- Frances T. Kelley, 90, formerly of 21 Camp St., died Monday, Feb. 5, in St. Mary's Health Care Center.

She leaves a brother, Vincent P. Kelley of Worcester; a sister, Winifred Greenhalge of Worcester; a nephew and three nieces. A brother, Joseph Kelley of Worcester, died in 1964. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Peter E. and Anastasia G. (Johnson) Kelley, and graduated from South High School.

Miss Kelley was a secretary and receptionist many years for U.S. Steel and Wire, retiring in 1975.

She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the funeral home. Donations may to the Elevator Fund of Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA 01603.

Kennedy service

LEOMINSTER -- The memorial service for Ethel M. (Bonnallie) Kennedy, 89, of 26 Elm St., will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in Unitarian Universalist First Church, 15 West St. Mrs. Kennedy died Wednesday, Jan. 17, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.

Soum Khlot, 68

Thursday, February 1, 2001

WORCESTER -- Soum Khlot, 68, of 92 Lake Ave., died Monday, Jan. 29, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus after an illness.

He leaves four daughters, Oeun Ros of Shrewsbury, Soeub Khlot of Worcester, Phy Khlot and Phanny Try, both of Harvard; sisters and brothers in Cambodia; 12 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born and educated in Cambodia and moved here in 1983.

Mr. Khlot was a member of Pelham Cambodian Temple, Pelham.

The funeral service and calling period will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. Cremation will follow in Rural Crematory.

Muriel King, 80

Sunday, February 4, 2001

DUDLEY -- Muriel (Dutram) King, 80, of 46 West Main St., died Friday, Feb. 2, in Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster, after being stricken ill at home.

She leaves her husband of 55 years, Harold R. King Sr.; a son, Charles B. King of Dudley; four daughters, Mary Lee Koshiba and Linda Cunningham, both of Dudley, and Nancy Cole and Eileen Parenteau, both of Cape Neddick, Maine; a brother, the Rev. Charles J. Dutram of Webster; two sisters, Eileen M. and May Dutram, both of Webster; and five grandchildren. A son, Harold R. “Hal” King Jr. of Dudley, died in 1989. She was born in Dudley, daughter of Clement and Mary (Lee) Dutram, and lived in Webster and Dudley. She graduated from St. Louis High School, Webster, and attended Framingham State College.

Mrs. King was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she was a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher.

The memorial Mass will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 22 Dudley Hill Road. Burial will be private in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Webster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Valley Elder Services, 251 Main St., Webster, MA 01570. Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St., Webster, is directing arrangements.

James G. King, 72

FALL RIVER -- James G. King, 72, of Fall River, a retired electronic technician, died Wednesday, April 11, in Charlton Memorial Hospital.

He leaves his wife, Kathleen (Perry) King; two daughters, including Karen King of Holden; two brothers; three sisters; a grandson, Nathaniel Flynn of Holden; several nieces and nephews. Four brothers and a sister predeceased him. He was a Navy and Air Force veteran.

Mr. King was an electronic technician 33 years at Montaup Electric in Somerset before retiring.

He was a member of St. Michael Church.

The private funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, in Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 North Main St. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
