Donald Garabedian, 69

WORCESTER -- Donald “Gige” Garabedian, 69, of 46 Roxbury St., a retired laborer, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves a son, Marc A. Garabedian of Worcester; two daughters, Tina M. D'Iorio and Dawn M. Garabedian-Weber, both of Worcester; a brother, Theodore C. Garabedian, with whom he lived; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Kim M. Garabedian, his twin brother, Paul Garabedian, and another brother, Kenneth Garabedian, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Albert P. and Christine (Kaczynski) Garabedian. He graduated from Commerce High School and earned an associate's degree from Worcester Junior College.
Mr. Garabedian was a laborer for New England Power before retiring. He was a former member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and, in the 1950s, he was an AAU Golden Gloves Welterweight Boxing Champion.
The funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 5, from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Cathedral, 15 Chatham St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, in the funeral home.
Dorothy B. Gardiner, 97

DUDLEY -- Dorothy B. (Baker) Gardiner, 97, formerly of Joshua Place Apartments, died Sunday, Jan. 28, in the Masonic Home, Charlton, after an illness.
Her husband of 15 years, George Gardiner, died in 1940. She leaves a son, Walter J. Gardiner of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Eileen M. Jussaume of Dudley; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A son, Donald E. Gardiner of Reading, died in 1998. She was born and raised in Somerville, daughter of Charles and Mabel (Dow) Baker, and lived in Billerica and Penacook, N.H., for more than 30 years. She lived in Wilbraham before moving to Dudley in 1992. She graduated from Somerville Normal School in 1922.
Mrs. Gardiner was a bookkeeper more than 20 years at City Coal Co. in Concord, N.H., retiring in 1965.
She was a member of The Church of the Reconciliation in Webster. While living in Penacook, she was a member of the former St. Mary's Episcopal Church, its vestry and Altar Guild. She was also the church's treasurer. She was also a member and officer of its Women's Guild. She was a life member of Priscilla Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Penacook. She was a former member and past Noble Grand of Rebecca Organization, National Association of Odd Fellows, Penacook.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in The Church of the Reconciliation, 5 North Main St., Webster. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord, N.H. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster. The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct its funeral service at 7 p.m. during the calling hours. James Gingerelli, 85

ORLANDO, Fla. -- James Gingerelli, 85, of 2055 Troon St., formerly of Worcester, Mass., a retired business owner and operator, died Saturday, Jan. 20, in Vitas Hospice Inpatient Care, Winter Park, after a brief illness.
His wife of 50 years, Christine (Garvey) Gingerelli, died in 1992. He leaves a son, James D. Gingerelli of Worcester; two daughters, Michaelene Parmenter and Mary Ellen Budzyna, both of Worcester; two brothers, George Gingerelli of Henderson, Nev., and Frank Gingerelli of Shrewsbury, Mass.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A brother, John Gengarelli, and a sister, Eleanor Nichols, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester and lived there 65 years before moving to Orlando in 1983. He attended Worcester schools and graduated from Wagner Art School, Boston.
Mr. Gingerelli was a commercial artist and owned Shepard Sign Co., retiring in 1983. He wrote short stories and enjoyed golf.
The memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours.
Alfred J. Girard, 90

SHREWSBURY -- Alfred J. Girard, 90, of Shrewsbury, a retired television engineer and a Navy veteran of World War II, died Saturday, Feb. 3, in Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation Center, Millbury.
His wife of 43 years, Gertrude M. (Harnois) Girard, died in 1983. He leaves three daughters, Jeanette M. Perry, Beverly V. Camarra and Shirley M. Fay, all of Worcester; a sister, Viola Tipper of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Napoleon and Flora (Raymond) Girard, and lived most of his life in Shrewsbury. He was educated in Worcester schools, and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Girard was a television engineer for National Broadcasting Co., New York, in the early 1950s. He later worked in the same capacity at WNAC in Boston, and then at WTAG, Worcester, retiring in 1965. He was a member of St. Mary of the Hills Church in Boylston, the Shrewsbury Retired Persons Club and the Ham Radio Operators Club.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, from Nordgren, Carrigan, Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester, with a Mass at noon in St. Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston St., Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home. MINNETONKA, Minn. -- Maxine R. (Reade) Gosen, 69, of Minnetonka, formerly of Millbury, Mass., a retired secretary, died Sunday, Feb. 4, in Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park.
She leaves her husband of 49 years, Richard P. Gosen; three sons, Richard, Timothy and David Gosen, all of Minnesota; a daughter, Glenda Gosen of Minnesota; a brother, John Reade of St. Augustine, Fla.; a sister, Lois Schmit of Orlando, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in North Sidney, Nova Scotia, daughter of John and Dorothy Reade, and lived in Millbury until about 1951.
Mrs. Gosen was a secretary for the Minnetonka Schools Athletic Department before retiring. She was a member of Excelsior Covenant Church, Excelsior.
The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in Excelsior Covenant Church, 19955 Old Excelsior Blvd., Excelsior. There are no calling hours. CHICOPEE -- Joy A. (Mongeon) Gradowsky, 51, of 805 Chicopee St., formerly of Worcester, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Glens Falls Hospital, Glens Falls, N.Y.
She leaves a daughter, J. Tammy Brandt of Glens Falls, N.Y.; four sisters, Britta Worster of Wallingford, Conn., Gay Barrett and Terry Ward both of Spencer, and Patricia Barnes of Bushnell, Fla.; a brother, Eugene Mongeon of East Brookfield; and two grandchildren. A son, Wayne Smith, died in 1999. Her mother, Eldora M. (Barrows) Moynagh, died January 24, 2001. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Arthur T. Mongeon.
The funeral service will held at noon, Saturday, Feb. 3, in the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 44 Gilbert St., North Brookfield. A calling hour is 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 3, in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

WORCESTER -- Rose (Palulian) Greenhalgh, 76, of 55 Botany Bay, a public school system worker, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after being stricken ill at home.
She leaves a son, Richard Greenhalgh of Worcester; a daughter, Jaclyn Greenhalgh of Worcester; a brother, John “Butch” Palulian of New Port Richie, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara Hovanesian of Paxton and Agnes Samara of Worcester; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Asadoor and Nevart (Kazanjian) Palulian.
Mrs. Greenhalgh was a clerk at Norton Co., a secretary at Paul Revere Co., and worked in the bilingual department for the Worcester Public School System until the time of her death. She was a member of Holy Trinity Armenian Church and its Ladies Guild.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in Holy Trinity Armenian Church, 635 Grove St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St. A Dungark service will be held during the calling hours. OXFORD -- Robert N. Grenon, 89, of Charlton Street, a retired laborer, died Saturday, Feb. 3, in Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Margaret R. (Ryan) Grenon; three daughters, Margaret L. Dube of Charlton Depot, Carol M. Hayes of Southbridge, and Barbara E. Butrym of Webster; a brother, Leo Gagne of Parish, Fla.; a sister, Loretta Bacon of Oxford; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. Five brothers, Russell Gagner of Oxford, Donald, Alfred, and Norman Gagner, all of Spencer, and Ernest Grenon of Warren, predeceased him. He was born in Spencer, son of Arthur and Laura (Leneau) Grenon, and lived several years in Webster. He moved to Oxford in 1949. During World War II, he served with the State Guard in Webster while working at Norton Co. in Worcester to provide materials for the war effort.
Mr. Grenon worked 34 years at Norton Co., retiring in 1974.
He was a member of St. Roch's Church and its 334 Club. He was active in the Boy Scouts, and served as Neighborhood Commissioner to Worcester District Commissioner, retiring from service in 1966. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was president of the New England Family Campers Association for several terms in the 1960s and 1970s.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St. Burial will be in St. Roch's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the funeral home.

FITCHBURG -- Donald M. Grier, 76, of 150 St. Bernard St., a World War II veteran and a retired electrician, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Catherine H. (Craigen) Grier; two sons, Thomas M. and Kevin W. Grier, both of Fitchburg; two daughters, Maureen A. McSheehy and Karen M. Powers, both of Fitchburg; two sisters, Margaret E. Markham and Dorothy M. Henault, both of Fitchburg; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was born in Fitchburg, son of William and Margaret (Kilcoyne) Grier. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
Mr. Grier was an electrician 37 years at General Electric Co., retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Bernard's Parish.
The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 2, from Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. David W. Guenther

MILFORD -- David W. Guenther, a Korean War veteran and retired supervisor, died Saturday, Feb. 3, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Eleanor M. (Iannetti) Guenther; a daughter, Debra A. Guenther of Milford; many nieces and nephews. He was born in Green Bay, Wis., son of David and Anne Guenther, and graduated from Oshkosh High School in Wisconsin. He moved to Milford in 1953. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean war.
Mr. Guenther was a supervisor at the former General Motors Corp. in Framingham, retiring in 1982.
He was past commander of American Legion Post 59, and was a financial officer and manager of the Milford Legion Baseball Committee. He received the Larson Family Award, the Outstanding Citizen's Award, and the First Class Citizen's Award. He was a fund-raising volunteer for the Milford St. Jude's Hospital Organization, the March of Dimes, and the Milford Heart Fund. He was an active supporter of the Disabled War Veterans. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, where he was a lector and sanctuary assistant for funerals. He was president of the Ecumenical Council of Churches.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, from Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 5 East Main St. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the funeral home.

WORCESTER -- Michael Guzman, 72, of 13 Eustis St., formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Wednesday, Jan. 24, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus, after a short illness.
He leaves three daughters, Deborah McGrath of West Boylston, and Elizabeth Rodriguez and Jennifer Guzman, both of Worcester; a son, Michael Guzman of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Connie Lamattina, Victoria Torres and Lydia Cabagnot, all of Brooklyn; a brother, Mariano Guzman of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren; nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. A brother, John Guzman, predeceased him. He was born in Brooklyn, son of John and Augustina Guzman. He moved to Worcester five years ago.
Mr. Guzman worked 30 years for Loew's Corp. in New York, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed woodworking.
Funeral services will be held in New York. Burial will be in Pinelawn Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y. There are no local calling hours. Halvorsen Funeral Home, 5310 8th Ave., Brooklyn, is directing arrangements.
