GARDNER -- Konstanty Ambrozewicz, 82, of 33 Beckey Ave., a retired assembler, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, in Heywood Hospital, after an illness.
His wife, Lillian (Tarmasiewicz) Ambrozewicz, died in 1990. He leaves two sons, John Ambrozewicz of Gardner and Michael Ambrozewicz of Winchendon; two daughters, Susan Leblanc of Gardner and Paula Duplessis of the Baldwinville section of Templeton; and seven grandchildren. He was born in Poland, son of Konstanty and Michalina (Zukowski) Ambrozewicz, and came to the United States from England in 1949. During World War II, he was a member of the Polish Liberation Army.
Mr. Ambrozewicz was an assembler at Simplex Time Recorder Co., retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the Polish-American Citizens Club and Country Club, and the Gardner Golden Age Club. He enjoyed playing bingo.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, from Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, in the funeral home. WESTBORO -- Ida A. (Mattson) Anderson, 93, of 39 Adams St., died Monday, Feb. 5, in Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston.
Her husband, C. Emil N. Anderson, predeceased her. She leaves a son, Leonard E. Anderson of Westboro; two daughters, Sylvia I. Johnson of Westboro and Judith A. Whitmore of Sterling; a sister, Alma Lund of Sweden; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Vieryd, Blekinge, Sweden, daughter of Edvard and Anna (Abrahamson) Mattson, and came to the United States at age 20. She lived in South Yarmouth and Northboro before moving to Westboro 10 years ago. She was educated in Sweden.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and enjoyed crocheting.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 185 West Main St. Burial will be in Dodge Hill Cemetery, Sutton. FALMOUTH@ -- Norma I. (Wheeler) Andrews, 69, of 247 West Edgewater Drive, East Falmouth, formerly of Berlin and Westboro, a former health industry worker, died Monday, Jan. 29, at home after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, Leon N. Andrews; three sons, Wayne L. Andrews of Marlboro, Bruce D. Andrews of Milford and Mark B. Andrews of Hubbardston; two daughters, Leah J. Veazie of Marlboro and Jennifer E. Parker of Woonsocket, R.I.; two brothers, Roger E. and Frederick R. Wheeler, both of Berlin; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Clinton, daughter of Roland E. and Freda B. (Stone) Wheeler, and lived most of her life in Berlin before moving to East Falmouth four years ago. She lived 10 years in Westboro. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1948.
Mrs. Andrews was a home health care aide. She was a member of John Wesley Methodist Church and a former member of First Parish Church of Berlin. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and was active with church fair committees.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in First Parish Church, 24 Central St., Berlin. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Berlin. John P. Ankstitus, 83

WORCESTER -- John P. Ankstitus, 83, formerly of 597 Millbury St., a World War II veteran, athlete, and former engineer, died Friday, Feb. 2, in Salisbury Nursing Center.
His wife, Irene B. (Kozlowski) Ankstitus, died in 1977. He leaves a son, Robert J. Ankstitus of Marlboro; two daughters, Patricia A. Cerrone of Sterling and Carol F. Sednek of Kersey, Colo.; a brother, Peter Ankstitus of Worcester; a sister, Mary Doucette of Duxbury; nine grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Michael and Mikoda (Mankstutis) Ankstitus. He a graduated from Classical High School and from Northeastern University, Boston, where he played football. He was an Army Signal Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Ankstitus was a truck driver for Sweet Life Foods, Northboro, retiring in 1979. He previously was a registered professional mechanical engineer at Norton Co. for 25 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, the Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers, Green Hill Golf Club, and Norton Co.'s golf, softball and bowling leagues. He participated in local and New England senior golf tournaments, and in qualifying rounds for the Senior Professional Golf Association.
The funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 5, from Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, in the funeral home. UXBRIDGE -- Joanne A. (Argalli) Johnson Apisso, 63, of West Hartford Avenue, died Monday, Feb. 5, at home.
Her husband, Anthony Apisso, died in 1998. She leaves two sons, Dr. Ryne S. Johnson of Dartmouth and David J. Johnson of San Diego; a daughter, Donna M. Farrell of Northbridge; a sister, Madelyn Durand-Brown of Harwich; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her fiancee, Donald J. Garnier of Sydney, Nova Scotia. Her first husband, Donald C. Johnson, died in 1990. She was born in Marlboro, daughter of John and Alice (Senecal) Argalli, and graduated from St. Anne's Academy in Marlboro. She attended Anna Maria College in Paxton, and graduated from the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester. She moved to the Northbridge-Uxbrdige area in 1995.
Mrs. Apisso was a professional aide six years at the Kane School in Marlboro. She previously worked in a day surgery center in Florida. She also worked at the Fallon Clinic in Worcester, New Britain Hospital in Connecticut and Marlboro Hospital in Marlboro.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish in Linwood and its Women's Guild. She was an accomplished knitter, and enjoyed needlepoint and crochet.
The funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, from Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish, Linwood Avenue, Linwood. WESTBORO -- Rose K. (Flaherty) Arnone, 86, of Westboro, a retired night supervisor and former nurse, died Friday, Jan. 26, at home after a battle with cancer.
She leaves her husband, Frank S. Arnone; four daughters, Rose A. Cibula of Northboro, Mary E. Cahoon of Hancock, Maine, Kathryn Arnone and Loretta Arnone Jaksic, both of Wellesley; two sons, Harry J. Arnone of Philadelphia and Stephen M. Arnone of Dennis; a brother, David Flaherty of Lenexa, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was born in Rockland, daughter of Harry E. and Frances “Lettie” (McDonnell) Flaherty, and lived in Brockton before moving to Chatham in 1963. She lived in Bradenton, Fla., before moving to Westboro. She attended Rockland public schools and graduated from Massachusetts Women's School of Nursing in 1935.
Mrs. Arnone was a private duty nurse and a floor nurse at Brockton Hospital for more than 20 years. She later worked at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, retiring as night supervisor in 1978. She enjoyed reading, backgammon, oil painting, and travel.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St., Northboro. Burial will be private. LEOMINSTER -- Philip J. Arsenault, 73, of 200 Atlantic Ave., a retired paper company worker, died Thursday, Jan. 25, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Rita (Nicolas) Arsenault; a son, Gary Arsenault of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Donna Lee of Leominster and Rhonda Arsenault Raheja of Fitchburg; two brothers, Gerard and Francis Arsenault, both of Fitchburg; a granddaughter; nephews and nieces. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Oswald and Modeste (LeBlanc) Arsenault, and lived most of his life in Fitchburg before moving to Leominster a year and a half ago.
Mr. Arsenault worked 37 years for James River Paper Co., retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and St. Joseph Club.
The funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 29, from Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home, 132 Woodland St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 46 Woodland St., Fitchburg. NORTHBRIDGE -- Ethel (Varteresian) Asadoorian, 78, of Church Street, a retired department manager, died Monday, Jan. 29, in Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital, Milford.
She leaves her husband of 46 years, Abraham Asadoorian; two sisters, Joy Kelliher of Centerville and Anna Hagopian of Falmouth; a brother, Varteras Varteresian of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Karen Cervizzi of Mansfield, Conn., died in 1987. A sister, Alice Garabedian of Whitinsville, also predeceased her. She was born in Newton Upper Falls, daughter of Marderos and Ojenie (Havandjian) Varteresian, and lived more than 60 years in Whitinsville. She graduated from Newton High School in 1940.
Mrs. Asadoorian was the manager for 23 years of the men's department at The Fair department store, Whitinsville, retiring in 1988. Previously, she worked on the screw job at Whitin Machine Works, Whitinsville.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Whitinsville, and was formerly active with its Ladies Guild. She was a former troop leader with the Brownies and Girl Scouts of America, and a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Moran Post 6145. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and knitting.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, from Buma Funeral Home, 480 Church St., Whitinsville, with a service at 11 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 33 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville. STURBRIDGE -- Eileen F. “Irene” (McComiskey) Atwood, 85, of 60 Main St., a retired optical company worker, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.
Her husband, Arthur J. Atwood Sr., died in 1974. She leaves a son, Arthur J. Atwood of Avon, Conn.; a daughter, Gladys Santelli of Sturbridge; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was born in Boston, daughter of Walter and Rose McComiskey, and lived many years in Sturbridge and 10 years in West Palm Beach, Fla., before returning to Sturbridge 20 years ago.
Mrs. Atwood worked more than 13 years at American Optical Co., Southbridge, before retiring. She and her husband co-founded the Disabled American Veterans Post 38, and she was past commander and past Massachusetts state commander of its auxiliary. She was a member of the Gold Star Wives and the American Legion Auxiliary, and a former member of the Sturbridge Senior Center.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, from Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 16 Church St. Burial will be at the family's convenience in St. Anne's Cemetery. GARDNER -- Daniel A. Audino, 70, of 52 Elm St., a former nurse, died Saturday, Jan. 27, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Nancy A. (Beach) Prentice; three sons, Gregg D. Prentice of Ashburnham, Michael F. Prentice of Gardner and John A. Prentice of Lunenburg; a daughter, Susan E. Halfrey of Hubbardston; a brother, Raymond Owens of New York; a sister, Loraine Snyder of Florida; and 10 grandchildren. He was born in Binghamton, N.Y., son of Joseph and Frances (Morabito) Audino, and lived here many years.
He served with the Army occupation forces in Japan and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Audino was a licensed practical nurse at Gardner State Hospital. He was a member of Ovila Case Post 905, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion Post 129, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed bowling, and was a member of leagues at Gardner Ten Pin.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Lamoureux-Fletcher Community Funeral Home, 105 Central St. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. WESTBORO -- Frederick Baggesen, 83, of Westboro, formerly of Concord, a former chemicals salesman and textile industry worker, died Monday, Feb. 5, in Christopher House, Worcester.
He leaves his wife, Barbara (Johnston) Baggesen; a son, Mark A. Baggesen of Richardson, Texas; a daughter, Jennifer Levesque of North Grafton; two stepchildren, Sandra Tribuno of Falmouth, Maine, and Dana Friis-Hansen of Austin, Texas; a sister, Elizabeth Chisholm of Concord, N.H.; and a grandson. He was born in Concord, son of Andrew and Aagot (Stange) Baggesen. He graduated from Concord High School in 1935 and from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in 1945.
Mr. Baggesen was a technical director at Bell Worsted Mill, Worcester, from 1939 to 1955. He later was a chemicals salesman at Colloids Inc. in New Jersey. In 1995, he was given the Golden Award from the UMass Lowell Alumni Association for his textile and social work. He was a member of the American Association of Textile Color and Chemists and Technical Association of Pulp and Paper; a 50-year member of Quinsigamond Lodge of Masons; and master counselor at DeMolay in Maynard, sponsored by I.D. Wilson Lodge of Masons.
The funeral service will be private. Burial will be in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. There are no calling hours. Joseph Dee & Son Funeral Service, 33 Bedford St., Concord, is directing arrangements.
