NORTHBRIDGE -- Douglas C.M. Walsh, 43, of 134 Church St., in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge, formerly of Newport R.I., a printer, musician and composer, died Sunday, July 29, at home.
He leaves his father, John L. Walsh and his step-mother, Nancy J. (McKeon) Walsh, both of Shrewsbury; a brother, J. Christopher Walsh of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Lynda Theriault of Shrewsbury and Lauren Mack of Sterling; 12 nephews and nieces; and 3 great nieces. He was born in Warwick, R.I., son of June E. Crocker. He graduated from Grafton Memorial High School, where he excelled in track and field. He attended Central New England College.
Mr. Walsh worked as a printer for Concept Unlimited, for several months. He previously worked for PDQ Printing, Newport R.I., for many years. He was also a composer and musician and played the drums in several area bands. He was an avid sailor, skier and computer technician.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, from the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Pawtucket Memorial Park, Warwick, R.I. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in the funeral home. WORCESTER -- Sister Elizabeth Ann Quill, Sisters of Notre Dame, 88, of Worcester, died Thursday, Aug. 10, in Notre Dame Long Term Care Facility.
She leaves two sisters, Sister Frances Cornelia, SND, of Windsor, Conn., and Mary Carr of Marblehead. She was born in Cleveland, daughter of Cornelius and Elizabeth (Donohue) Quill, and entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on Aug. 9, 1932. She professed her first vows on Jan. 30, 1935, and her perpetual vows on July 30, 1940.
Her ministries were in Lowell, Waltham, Cambridge, South Boston, Wenham, North Dartmouth, Tyngsboro, Ipswich and Worcester.
The funeral Mass will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey's Neck Road, Ipswich. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Calling hours are 1 to 2:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, in the Sisters of Notre Dame Residence, 30 Jeffrey's Neck Road. Shirley J. Cormier, 69

HOLDEN -- Shirley J. (LeClair) Cormier, 69, formerly of Fitchburg, a former surgical technician, died Thursday, Aug. 2, in Holden Nursing Home after an illness.
She leaves two sisters, Janice M. Pepper of Princeton and Evelyn Cavalieri of Worcester; nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Edward H. and Edith M. (Burroughs) LeClair, and lived many years in Fitchburg before moving to Holden several years ago. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade High School and was trained at Rutland Heights Hospital.
Ms. Cormier was a surgical technician at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, until becoming ill. She was a member of Leominster Assembly of God Church, and enjoyed singing and raising birds.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Princeton. A calling hour is 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in the funeral home.
John M. Reid, 79

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- John M. Reid, 79, of 2021 South Sea Crest Blvd., formerly of 1 Center Drive, Paxton, Mass., a retired buyer, died Friday, Aug. 4, in New England Medical Center, Boston, after a short illness.
His wife, Helen G. (Early) Reid, died in 1995. He leaves two sons, John F. Reid of Cambridge, Mass., and Philip Reid of Worcester, Mass.; two daughters, Paula M. Grenier of Islamabad, Pakistan, and Patricia Bews of Lafayette, Colo.; five grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. He was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, son of Philip and Lillian (Smith) Reid. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.
Mr. Reid was the buyer at Ware-Pratt Co. in Worcester for 35 years, and later worked in Worcester Superior Court.
He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Worcester for 70 years, and a member of its choir. He was a horticulturist. Along with his wife, he traveled to North Africa, Paris, London, the Carribean, and eastern Canada.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, in All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving St., Worcester. Burial will be in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuedsay, Aug. 8, in O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., Worcester. Joseph E. Reynolds, 84

WORCESTER -- Joseph E. Reynolds, 84, of 7 Plantation St., formerly of 18 Pattison St., a World War II veteran and a retired foreman, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a short illness.
He leaves a brother, William J. Reynolds of Natick; a sister, Nona M. O'Grady of Worcester; nephews and nieces. Four brothers, Frederick D., Paul J., Thomas P. and John Reynolds, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Patrick and Margaret (McHugh) Reynolds, and graduated from St. John's High School, then in Worcester, in 1935. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in France and Germany.
Mr. Reynolds was a foreman in the water department of the city of Worcester Department of Public Works, where he worked more than 30 years, retiring in 1980. Before World War II, he worked at the Crompton & Knowles Co. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church, Vernon Hill American Legion Post, and Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association.
The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 2, from Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Robert W. Reynolds, 80

WORCESTER -- Robert W. “Packy” Reynolds, 80, of 22 Utica Drive, and Pine Grove Road, South Yarmouth, a retired business owner and court officer, died Saturday, Aug. 5, in Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Violet A. (Lorusso) Reynolds; two sons, Thomas A. Reynolds of Worcester and Robert J. Reynolds of Auburn; a daughter, Joanne M. Maguire of Placentia, Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Statuta of Worcester and Margaret Giourard of Charlton; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Thomas and Margaret (McKenna) Reynolds, and graduated from South High School. He attended Williams College in Williamstown. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Reynolds owned and operated Reynolds Oil Co. for 30 years, and later served as a court officer in Worcester Superior Court, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Main South American Legion Post 341, the United Commercial Travelers, the Webster Square Merchants Association, Our Lady of the Angels Church, and St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth. He was past Exalted Ruler of the Worcester Lodge of Elks 243, and was a member of Alahambra Council Knights of Columbus 88.
The funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Emily M. Roswell, 83

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Emily M. (Sault) Marshall Roswell, 83, of Meadowlark Drive, formerly of Worcester, Mass., a former hairdresser, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, at home.
She leaves two sons, James L. Marshall of Altamonte Springs, with whom she lived, and William H. Marshall Jr. of Gulfport, Miss.; a daughter, Nancy McNees of Boston; a brother, Louis Sault of Cape Cod, Mass.; a sister, Elizabeth Fox of Worcester; four grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A sister, Marion L. Blokland, died in 1997. She was born in Worcester and moved to Altamonte Springs in 1969. She graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester.
Mrs. Roswell was a hairdresser and a homemaker. She was a licensed pilot and a member of the Civil Air Patrol on Cape Cod. She was also active in the Parent-Teacher Association on Cape Cod, and was a member of the Demolay and the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the Motorcycle Club in Altamonte Springs.
The graveside service was held Friday, Aug. 4, in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
Joseph S. Rucki, 24

WARE -- Joseph S. Rucki, 24, of 25 Church St., an Army Reserves sergeant and a truck driver, died Thursday, Aug. 10, in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, after a long illness.
He leaves his mother, Barbara (McCarthy) Rucki of Ware; two sisters, Jennifer O'Connor of Ware and Sandy Rucki of Warren; a niece and a nephew. He was born in Ware, son of Stephen Rucki. He was a sergeant in the Army Reserves in Springfield, and was the longest serving member of the 470th AG Postal Co. He had served in Germany and Croatia.
Mr. Rucki was also a truck driver for Hardwick Knitters Inc. of Warren.
He was a member of All Saints Church.
The funeral will be held Monday, Aug. 14, from Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, North Street. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Gilbertville section of Hardwick. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, in the funeral home. WASHINGTON CROSSING, Pa. -- Emil Ryll, 78, of Washington Crossing, formerly of Clinton, Mass., a former pro baseball player, died Thursday, Aug. 3, in Coatesville Veterans Hospital, Coatesville.
He leaves his wife, Irma Ryll; three sons, Ron Ryll of Washington Crossing, Randy Ryll of Sterling, Mass., and Jon Ryll of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers died before him. He was born in Clinton. He was an Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Ryll played briefly for the St. Louis Browns Baseball Club.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, in First Church in Sterling, Sterling. Donations may be made to World War II Memorial Fund, PO Box 96766, Washington, DC 20090-6766. Swartz Givnish Funeral Home Inc., Newtown, is directing arrangements.
Beverly T. Sampson, 70

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Beverly T. Sampson, 70, of Winter Haven, formerly of Holden, Mass., and Webster, Mass., died July 26 in Winter Haven after a long battle with breast cancer.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, Donald B. Sampson; a son, Frank B. Sampson of Webster; a daughter, Liz Tilden-Sampson of South Newfane, Vt.; a sister, Ann Whitney of Sarasota; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, Mass., and grew up in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge, Mass. She also lived in Holden.
Mrs. Sampson was assistant to the dean of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester before retiring.
She was a talented artist, and enjoyed reading, quilting, painting (including portraits), and knitting. She was a private pilot, and enjoyed flying her Cessna.
Burial was private and at the convenience of the family in Pine Grove Cemetery in Whitinsville. Donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
Warren R. Sanderson

AUBURN -- Warren R. Sanderson, 78, of 667 Washington St., a retired machinist, died Sunday, Aug. 6, at home after a brief illness.
He leaves a son, Daniel M. Sanderson, Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren; a niece. He was born in Oxford, son of Frank M. and Georgie E. (Thompson) Sanderson, and lived in Worcester for about 50 years. He lived in Auburn for 16 years.
Mr. Sanderson was a machinist at the former Neles-Jamesbury Corp. for 24 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Quinsigamond United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
Clara F. Santo, 88

GRAFTON -- Clara F. (Brodowski) Santo, 88, formerly of 16 Ferry St., South Grafton, a retired stitcher, died Monday, Aug. 7, in Life Care Center of Auburn after an illness.
Her husband, Anthony Santo, died in 1978. She leaves a son, Richard B. Santo of South Grafton; a daughter, Carol A. Bakanas of Spencer; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., daughter of Francis and Victoria (Walitiski) Brodowski, and lived in South Grafton for many years.
Mrs. Santo was a stitcher for 40 years at the former Ozar Manufacturing Co., before retiring.
She was a member of St. James Church.
The funeral will be Wednesday, July 9, from Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, 89 Main Street. Burial will be in St. Johns's Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to a charity.
