Roger H. Fournier, 74

Monday, October 16, 2000

MILLBURY -- Roger H. Fournier, 74, of 23 Coventry Road in Grafton, formerly of Sycamore Circle in Millbury, a World War II veteran and a retired mechanical engineer, died Thursday, Oct. 12, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife, Rita J. (Wronski) Fournier; a daughter, Lois F. Heiniluoma of Millbury; two sisters, Beatrice Pearl Dufault and Lorraine Rocheleau, both of Worcester; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Lynn Fournier of Millbury, died in 1973. Five brothers also predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Nicholas and Beatrice (Gerou) Fournier, and lived 36 years in Millbury before moving to Grafton four years ago. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.

Mr. Fournier was a mechanical engineer 35 years at Norton Tool Division/Warner Swasey/Pratt & Whitney, Worcester, retiring in 1988.

George E. Gillies, 71

AUBURN -- George E. Gillies, 71, of 5 Simond St., a retired plumbing foreman and a Korean War veteran, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Theresa M. (Picard) Gillies; three daughters, Karen A. Gillies of North Brookfield, and Judith A. Picard and Patricia A. Borowy, both of Auburn; a sister, Marion Leblanc of Chelmsford; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was born in Rochester, N.H., son of George E. Gillies Sr. and Vera May (Radcliffe) Gillies Olson, and lived 48 years in Auburn. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School, Worcester. Mr. Gillies was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a plumbing foreman at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, for 15 years, retiring in 1992. He previously was a plumbing subcontractor for several area builders. Mr. Gillies was a member of the Auburn Lodge of Elks, the Chester P. Tuttle Post American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans in Worcester and the Parkinson's Disease Support Group. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., with a prayer service at 4 p.m. After cremation, burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Auburn District Nursing Association, 191 Pakachoag St., Auburn, MA 01501; or to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 North West 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136.

Edward P. Levell, 45

MARLBORO -- Edward P. Levell, 45, of 596 Boston Post Road, died Monday, Oct. 16, in Marlboro Hospital after a long illness.

He leaves his father, Edward F. Levell of Hudson; his mother, Lorraine J. (Mailloux) Levell of Northboro; three brothers, Stephen and Andy Levell, both of Clinton, and David Levell of Hudson; a sister, Karen Araujo of Hudson; three nieces and a nephew. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived most of his life in the Marlboro-Hudson area. He graduated from Hudson Catholic High School in 1973, where he was a standout athlete.

Mr. Levell was a chef in several area restaurants. He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed fishing and hockey. He was a member of several fraternal organizations.

The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 20, from Merrill-Carleton Funeral Home, 1 Pleasant St., Hudson, with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Restoration Fund, 20 High St., Hudson, MA 01749.

Dawn Marie Pleau, 52

WEBSTER -- Dawn Marie (O'Dell) Pleau, 52, of 35 Whitcomb St., died Saturday, Oct. 14, in Hubbard Regional Hospital.

She leaves her husband of 21 years, Robert L. Pleau; two sons, Allen D. Gavel and Robert J. Pleau, both of Webster; four daughters, Laura M. Cram of Woonsocket, R.I., Christine M. and Tara Ann Pleau, both of Webster, and Michelle M. O'Dell in the Dominican Republic; her father, Nathan C. O'Dell II of Littleton, N.H.; three brothers, James O'Dell of Lyman, N.H., Nathan C. O'Dell III of Blackstone and Walter O'Dell in Arkansas; a sister, Mary Jay O'Dell of Littleton, N.H.; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Natick, daughter of Mary (Riley) O'Dell.

The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Mount Zion Cemetery, Route 12. There are no calling hours. Scanlon Funeral Home, East Main Street, is directing arrangements.

Orian R. Trudeau, 88

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Orian R. Trudeau, 88, of Port Charlotte and North Grosvenordale, Conn., died May 21 in Port Charlotte after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Rita (Savaria) Trudeau; a sister, Irene Weigel of Danielson, Conn.; several nephews and nieces; grandnieces and grandnephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., North Grosvenordale. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. A calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, in Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., North Grosvenordale. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Marion M. Jordan, 74

Roger E. Jordan, 70

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- Roger E. Jordan, 70, of South Jones Loop Road, formerly of Oxford, Mass., a security guard and a former abrasives company worker, died Saturday, Oct. 21, at his daughter's home in Webster, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 45 years, Jeanne L. (Lunt) Jordan; two sons, Scott E. Jordan of Dudley, Mass., and Charles W. Jordan of Clinton, Mass.; two daughters, Deborah H. Bauce of Webster and Sandra L. McCullough of Webster, with whom he was living; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Alan Jordan of Bristol, N.H., died in 1995; and another brother, George F. Jordan of Auburn, Mass., died in 1998. He was born in Worcester, Mass., son of George F. Jordan Sr. and Helen E. (Chambers) Jordan, and lived many years in Oxford before moving to Florida in 1992 and to Webster in August. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Jordan worked at Bay State Abrasives in Westboro, Mass., for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He previously worked for P&A Cleaners in Worcester, and for the past several years was a security guard at Seminole Lakes.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Worcester, and United Church of Christ in Port Charlotte, and was past president of the Homeowners Association at Casa Del Mar. He belonged to Post 103 American Legion, and participated in President Dwight D. Eisenhower's inauguration in 1953. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in First Congregational Church, Center Road, Dudley. Burial will be held at the family's convenience. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Robert J. Miller-Oxford Funeral Home, 247 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Hospice Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.

Julienne LeBlanc, 79

GARDNER -- Julienne (Bastarache) LeBlanc, 79, of 125 Connors St., died Monday, Aug. 6, in Heywood Hospital, following an illness.

Her husband of 35 years, Max LeBlanc, died in 1989. She leaves a brother, Albert Bastarache of Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada; a sister, Connie Leibwein of Naples, Fla.; nephews and nieces. She was born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of Anthony and Evangeline (Bastarache) Bastarache.

Mrs. LaBlanc was a kitchen helper employed by the former Gardner Manor Nursing Home for four years, before retiring in 1993. She was previously employed by the Independent Lock Co., Fitchburg, for 24 years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, and its Ladies of St. Ann Society.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nicholas St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic T.V. Center, PO Box 56, 55 Chapel St., Newton, MA 02160. The Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nicholas St., is in charge of arrangements.

John B. LeBlanc, 75

FITCHBURG -- John B. LeBlanc, 75, of 320 Canton St., died Wednesday, May 30, at home after being stricken ill. Brandon-Simard Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

Ovila LeBlanc, 71

GARDNER -- Ovila LeBlanc, 71, of 89 Richmond St., a retired saw operator, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Heywood Hospital after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Imelda R. (Allain) LeBlanc; two sons, Paul O. LeBlanc of East Templeton and Maurice LeBlanc of Winchendon; two daughters, Debra P. Zarozinski and Denise M. LeBlanc, both of Gardner; three brothers, Albert LeBlanc and George Bourque, both of Dieppe, New Brunswick, and Ernest LeBlanc of Cocagne, New Brunswick; two sisters, Dorilla Richard of Gardner and Theresa Bourque of Dieppe; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. His adoptive mother, Dina (Richard) LeBlanc, predeceased him. He was born in Cocagne, son of Alfred and Amanda (Surette) LeBlanc.

Mr. LeBlanc was a saw operator 44 years for Nichols & Stone Co., retiring in 1995. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church. He enjoyed working with horses.

The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 9, from Boucher Funeral Home, 110 Nichols St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Central Massachusetts Lung Association, 35 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609.

Michael J. Buffone, 18

VICTORVILLE, Calif. -- Michael J. Buffone, 18, of Victorville, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Childrens' Hospital of Los Angeles, after an illness.

He leaves his father, Robert Buffone of Linden, N.J., formerly of Millbury, Ma; his mother, Laura Buffone of Victorville, Calif.; his paternal grandmother, Olive (Laverty) Buffone of Millbury; and his maternal grandmother, Rita McGowan of Yorba Linda, Calif.

A Mass will be held Friday, Oct. 27, in St. Martin Catholic Church in Yorba Linda, Calif. Burial will be in Loma Vista Memorial Park, Fullerton, Calif. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 4560 Fountain Ave., Los Angeles, CA, 90029. McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, Calif. are in charge of the arrangements.

Sadie M. Anderson, 96

WORCESTER -- Sadie M. (Kane) Anderson, 96, of 54 King Philip Road, died Thursday, July 26, in Salisbury Nursing Home.

Her husband of 63 years, William H. Anderson, died in 1989. She leaves two daughters, Meryl E. Witti of Worcester and Margaret J. Schwartz of Ducor, Calif.; two grandsons, Bruce Scanlon of Boulder, Colo., and John Witti of Millbury; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a niece. She was born in Portsmouth, N.H., daughter of Thomas P. and Margaret (Allen) Kane, and attended schools in St. John's, New Brunswick. She lived the past 45 years in the Worcester area.

Mrs. Anderson was a cook at Dodge Park Rest Home before retiring.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity. Nordgren, Carrigan, Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., is directing arrangements.

Edwin D. Sanchez, 34

SOUTHBRIDGE -- Edwin D. Sanchez, 34, of 29 Brookside Terrace, died Friday, Nov. 17, at his home.

He leaves his parents, Oscar Sanchez in El Salvador and Maria Lopez of Southbridge; three brothers, Oscar Sanchez of Worcester, Herbert Sanchez of Los Angeles and Sergio Sanchez in Mexico; four sisters, Elbia Sanchez of Worcester, Erika Sanchez of Southbridge, Mina Sanchez of Los Angeles and Evelyn Sanchez of Washington, D.C.; nephews and nieces. He was born in El Salvador.

Mr. Sanchez worked for Superior Cake Co. in Putnam.

The funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 21, in Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, in the funeral home.
