Lorie Ann Winstrom, 37

Blairstown, N.J. - Lorie Ann (Garrett) Winstrom, 37, a surgical technician, died unexpectedly April 11, 1998 in Paterson.

She was the wife of Robert Winstrom of Blairstown and daughter of Loring and Marguerite Ann (Mayo) Garrett, both of Centerville.

Born in Cambridge, Mass., she was a graduate of Belmont High School and received an associate's degree from Northeastern University.

She worked in the health care field for many years. Most recently she was a licensed surgical technician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson for about six months. Prior to that, she worked in Hackettstown Community Hospital in New Jersey for 11/2 years.

Mrs. Winstrom lived in Belmont, Mass., for many years before moving to Burlington, Vt. She lived in Vernon before moving to Blairstown about a year and a half ago.

She was a member of the New Jersey Association of Surgical Technicians. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and cooking.

Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Marc A. Brenner of Blairstown; a brother, Van E. Garrett of Belmont, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Paul Brenner of Garnerville, N.Y.

A funeral was held April 16 at the Deane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Our Lady of Victory Church, CenterviIle. Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA O1701.

William H. Adams, 83

Osterville - William H. Adams, 83, a retired caretaker for an Osterville estate, died April 15, 1998 at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community-Pavilion, after a long illness.

He was the husband of the late Sarah (MacDougal) Adams.

Mr. Adams was born, raised and educated in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After his education, he served in the Canadian military. While in the military, he received medals for the Invasion of Sicily, the Defense of Great Britain, the Canadian Armament Division Badge and for the Italy, France and Germany campaigns.

He moved to Osterville in 1946. For more than 30 years, he worked as the caretaker for the Rowland Estate in Osterville until his retirement in 1986. He attended the Osterville Baptist Church.

In his early adult years, Mr. Adams was an amateur boxer. He enjoyed ice hockey and was an avid Bruins fan. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed dogs and being with people.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Anna Morse of Eastham and Carol Akers of Nova Scotia; and a very close friend, Gordon LeBlanc of Osterville.

A graveside service was held April 18 in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Peter James Cardillo, 75

Mashpee - Peter James Cardillo, 75, formerly of Old Bridge, N.J., died unexpectedly April 9, 1998 at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. S.C.

He was the husband of Marie "Mona" (Sacco) Cardillo.

Mr. Cardillo was born in Cambridge. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served aboard the USS Constitution.

He was a salesman for the Pioneer Plastic Corp. of Portland, Maine, working out of the New York office. In 1987 he retired and moved to Mashpee.

Mr. Cardillo was a member of Christ the King Parish and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Peter Cardillo of Cotuit, Paul Cardillo of Old Bridge, N.J., and Phillip Cardillo of Madison, N.J.; three sisters, Eleanor Cologgero of Medford, Carmella Long of Cambridge, and Carmen of Woburn; a brother, Patrick Cardillo of Lancaster and three grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held April 17 in Christ the King church, Mashpee Commons. Burial followed in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

Marian K. Carroll, 87

Hyannis - Marian K. (McDonnell) Carroll, 87, a dietitian and member of the YMCA Wise Walker group for 12 years, died April 19, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community after a brief illness.

She was the wife of Thomas B. Carroll for 58 years.

Born in Mattapan, Mrs. Carroll graduated from Groveton High School in Groveton, N.H. In 1933, she received a bachelor of science degree as a dietitian from Regis College in Weston.

Mrs. Carroll lived in Fitchburg from 1930 until 1940 and then moved to Buffalo, N.Y., where she lived for 35 years before coming to Hyannis.

While in New York, she was active in parish work at St. John the Baptist Church in Kenmore, N.Y. It was the church founded by St. John Newman in 1836.

In Hyannis, she participated in several activities, including the walking group and the Regis College Alumni Association.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Mary Patricia Hettrich of Rochester, N.Y., and Maureen C. Bender of Indianapolis, Ind.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held April 22 in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.

Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Rte. 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Caroline Fermino, 82

Marstons Mills - Caroline "Carrie" (Barrows) Fermino, 82, a former clerk and cashier, died April 15, 1998 at Brandon Woods Nursing Home in Dartmouth.

She was the wife of the late Peter Fermino Sr.

Born in Falmouth, she was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She worked for many years as a clerk and cashier for King's Department Store in Hyannis.

Mrs. Fermino was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and sang with the choir. She also sang at her brother's nightclub in Mashpee, Little Dan's Dine & Dance, when she was younger.

She also loved to travel. Surviving are two sons, Peter Fermino Jr. of Hyannis and Francis Fermino of Marstons Mills; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 18 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Wianno Avenue, Osterville. Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Cape Cod, 895 Mary Dunn Road, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Thomas H. Lyons, 70

Indian Harbour Beach, Fla. - Thomas H. Lyons, 70, a former Centerville resident who has family living on the Cape, died April 18, 1998 at his home in Florida.

He was born in Boston and educated there. A resident of Norwood, Mass., for 25 years, he lived in Centerville from 1983 to 1988 before moving to Indian Harbour Beach.

Mr. Lyons was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict.

He worked for New England Telephone as an installer and in repairs, fixing switchboards in Greater Boston. He retired in 1983.

A former member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, Mr. Lyons was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic.

He was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine (Hastings) Lyons of Indian Harbour Beach; two sons, Thomas H. Lyons III of Livermore, Calif., and Michael Lyons of Centerville; a daughter, Marianne Lyons of Centerville; his stepmother, Alice Lyons of Mashpee; and three grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held April 23 in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Agnes H. Mezzetti, 79

Springfield - Agnes H. (Murphy) Mezzetti, 79, of Springfield who leaves family in Hyannis, died April 20, 1998 at a nursing home.

Mrs. Mezzetti, worked as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1984.

Her husband, Henry Mezzetti, died in 1996.

She is survived by one son, John Mezzetti of Hyannis; one sister, Katherine Bryson of Springfield; and a granddaughter, Mary Kate Mezzetti.

The funeral was held on April 23 at Tazzini Funeral Home in Springfield, followed by a service at the Holy Name Church and burial in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Name Parish Development Fund, 323 Dickinson St., Springfield, MA 01108.

William J. "Capt. Bill" Notartomaso, 47

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - William J. "Capt. Bill" Notartomaso, 47, formerly a longtime resident of Centerville, died April 16, 1998 at the Grand Strand Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was the husband of Barbara (McCabe) Notartomaso.

Mr. Notartomaso was a graduate of Newton Schools and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne. He lived in Newton for many years and in Centerville for 17 years, until moving to Myrtle Beach last year.

He served in the Merchant Marine, retiring as a captain after 25 years of service. He was also a captain with the AT&T Merchant Marine Service.

Mr. Notartomaso was a member of the American Maritime Officers Association and a former member of the Newton Lodge of Elks and the Deer Club Hunting and Fishing Association in Centerville. He was an avid golfer.

Besides his wife, Mr. Notartomaso is survived by four daughters, Keriann, Lauren, Jennifer and Jessica; two sisters, Lynann M. Marston of Cape Cod and Judy A. Wagner of Connecticut; a brother, Robert Notartomaso of Easton; and several nieces and nephews

The funeral was held April 21 in the Andrew J. Magni Funeral Home in Newton, followed by Mass in St. Jean Church, Newton. Burial was private.

Mary Louise Ribaga, 81

Cotuit - Mary Louise (Farrell) Ribaga, 81, formerly of Brockton, died unexpectedly April 17, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.

She was the wife of T. Joseph Ribaga for 57 years.

Mrs. Ribaga was born, raised and educated in Brockton and lived there for most of her life until moving to Cotuit in 1978. She was a 1934 graduate of Brockton High School.

Mrs. Ribaga was a longtime communicant of St. Edward Church and a member of the mothers' club of the YWCA.

She worked for a time at Dunnigan Drug, as office manager at the American Heart Association and for many years as the assistant manager of the classified department of the Brockton Enterprise.

After moving to Cape Cod, she was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Mashpee, a member of the altar guild and a volunteer in the St. Vincent dePaul gift shop.

Mrs. Ribaga enjoyed home decorating, gardening and landscaping and was a patron of the Edmundite Mission in Alabama.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Ribaga is survived by a son, Thomas Jay Ribaga of Middleboro.

A funeral Mass was held April 21 in St. Edward Church, Brockton, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery in Brockton.
