LEICESTER -- Francis D. Mullins III, 46, of 2 Chris Circle, a company owner and president, died Monday, Aug. 7, at home after a long battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 16 years, Lois M. (Zaleski) Mullins; three sons, Daniel F. Mullins of Webster, Ryan J. and Christopher F. Mullins, both of Leicester; two daughters, Elizabeth Mullins of Webster and Kaitlyn M. Mullins of Leicester; his mother, Edna (McGuire) Mullins of Falmouth; two brothers, Paul Mullins of Rutland and David Mullins of Falmouth; nieces and nephews. He was born in Framingham, son of Francis D. Mullins Jr., and lived five years in Charlton and was raised in Worcester before moving here in 1989. He graduated from Doherty High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College, both in Worcester.

Mr. Mullins was president and owner of Cabco Kitchens Inc., Oxford, for the past 15 years. He also was a certified emergency medical technician, having worked for the Town of Leicester and City of Worcester.

He was a member of St. Ann's Parish in North Oxford, the National Kitchen & Bath Association, and the Small Business Association of Worcester. He was a former Little League coach in Leicester and Ty Cobb Little League coach in Worcester. During his illness, he was involved with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, investigating and researching brain cancer.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 10, from Morin-Morrison Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, 654 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or memorial donations made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Adult Neuro-Oncology Dept., 1309 Beacon St., Brookline, MA 02446, Attention: Gift Processing Dept.

Anita R. Needham, 81

WORCESTER -- Anita R. (Kantakevich) Needham, 81, of Worcester, a retired bookkeeper, died Monday, July 23, in the Hospice Residence.

Her husband of 23 years, John P. Needham, died in 1967. She leaves a son, Gregg J. Needham of Worcester; two daughters, Marianne Lapomardo of Sterling and Karen A. Shea of Worcester; four grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A brother, Joseph Kantakevich, and two sisters, Veronica Armitage and Ruth Kantakevich, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Impolitas and Rosalia (Zilonis) Kantakevich, and graduated from Commerce High School and the Worcester School of Business Science.

Mrs. Needham was a bookkeeper for Painter's Local 48, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of St. Casimir's Church and volunteered at the former St. Casimir's School. She was a member of the Lithuanian Women's Social Club, the St. Casimir's Mothers Guild, and the Lithuanian War Veterans Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and travel.

The funeral will be held Thursday, July 26, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir's Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the funeral home. WORCESTER -- The funeral for Kevin P. Needham, 31, of 35 Ashwood St., will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. His uncle, Monsignor Thomas J. Needham, will be the principal celebrant. Mr. Needham died Tuesday, Aug. 8, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the funeral home.

Florence W. Nields, 78

WEST BROOKFIELD -- Florence W. (Wesson) Nields, 78, of Ragged Hill Road, a former horse trainer and stable owner, died Sunday, Aug. 6, in Quaboag on the Common.

Her husband of 39 years, Robert L. Nields Sr., died in 1980. She leaves two sons, Robert L. Nields Jr. of Lyndeborough, N.H. and Morgan W. Nields of Denver; two daughters, Merrily W. Morgan of Orleans, Vt., and Vicki L. Nields of West Brookfield; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was born in Springfield, daughter of Victor H. and Eleanor (Williams) Wesson, and lived in Hardwick for four years before moving to West Brookfield in 1949.

Mrs. Nields owned and operated the Ragged Hill Stables, where she trained horses for many years.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Ware.

The funeral service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Brookfield Rescue Squad, PO Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585. Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main St., is directing arrangements.

Donald J. Noon, 75

John O'Malley Jr., 83

BURBANK, Calif. -- John E. O'Malley Jr., 83, of 4368 Kling St., formerly of Clinton, Mass., a retired television film coordinator, died Monday, Aug. 7, at home after a long illness with Parkinson's disease.

His wife, Katherine (Kuseley) O'Malley, died in 1999. He leaves three brothers, Walter S. and William J. O'Malley, both of Clinton, and Daniel D. O'Malley of Englewood, Ohio; and a sister, Eileen A. Nekuda of Clinton. A brother, Robert M. O'Malley, died before him. He was born in Clinton, son of John E. Sr. and Anne M. (Schofield) O'Malley, and graduated from Clinton High School, Worcester Academy and Boston College.

Mr. O'Malley was a director of research at Technicolor Studios, Hollywood, until its closing. He later was a television film coordinator for Consolidated Studios, North Hollywood, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, North Hollywood, the Boston College Alumni, the Catholic University Club of Southern California, and the John Wayne Tennis Club in Newport Beach, where he won the senior tennis tournament in 1978.

The funeral was held in North Hollywood. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, North Hollywood.

Virginia A. Parker, 69

WEST BROOKFIELD -- Virginia A. Parker, 69, of Ridge Road, a retired coiler, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Mary Lane Hospital, Ware.

She leaves a brother, Horace O. Parker Jr. of West Brookfield; a sister, Iona M. Lubelczyk of Gilbertville; several nieces and nephews. A brother, Clifford U. Parker of West Brookfield, died in May. She was born in West Brookfield, daughter of Horace O. Parker Sr. and Mary A. (Kennedy) Parker.

Ms. Parker was a coiler for the Gavitt Wire & Cable Co. in Brookfield for three years, retiring in 1991. She was previously an assembler at the former Ware Knitters Co. for 39 years.

She was a member of the George Whitefield United Methodist Church.

The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, in Pine Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Brookfield Rescue Squad Inc., PO Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585. Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main St., is directing arrangements.

Henry C. Pignataro Sr.

WORCESTER -- Henry C. Pignataro Sr., 78, of Worcester, a longtime city educator and World War II veteran, died Sunday, Aug. 6, in the Worcester Medical Center after being stricken ill Thursday, Aug. 3.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Chelestine E. “Chelly” (Buonomo) Pignataro; a son, Henry C. Pignataro Jr. of Princeton; four daughters, Joanne T. Schunder of Ashland, Rosemarie A. Pignataro and Elizabethanne M. Simoneau, both of Worcester, and Diane L. Skov of Spencer; A sister, Rose A. Pingatore of Worcester; two granddaughters. Five brothers, Francis, William, John, Anthony, and George Pignataro, and two sisters, Lucille Napolis and Theresa Celularo, all died before him. He was born in Worcester, son of Michele and Rosaria (Leonetti) Pignataro, and attended Worcester schools. He received a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green University in Ohio, and received a master's degree from the University of New Hampshire. He received a master's degree in education from Worcester State College.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Pignataro was a science and biology teacher for more than 35 years at Classical, Commerce, and Doherty high schools, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Church, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the National Education Association of Worcester, and Pope John XXIII Knights of Columbus.

The funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, from Arthur S. Manzi & Son Funeral Home & Garden Chapel, 179 Shrewsbury St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the American Lung Association, 33 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609.

Mark A. Pollier, 31

DENNIS -- Mark A. Pollier, 31, of West Dennis, formerly of Worcester and Charlton, died Thursday, Aug. 3, at home.

He leaves his fiancee, Jody S. Herman of West Dennis; two brothers, Gary J. Pollier of Hereford, Ariz., and Roland S. Pollier of South Yarmouth; three sisters, Marybeth Dupres of Haverhill, Lisa A. DeBruyn of Hyannis and Cheryl L. Aubrey of West Dennis; grandnephews and grandnieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Roland J. and Patricia A. (Reilly) Pollier, and lived in Charlton before moving to Yarmouth in the mid-1980s. He moved to West Dennis in 1996. He attended Shepherd Hill Regional High School, Dudley, where he played varsity basketball.

Mr. Pollier was a fund-raising telemarketer for nonprofit organizations and local police departments. He enjoyed pool and sports.

The memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Burial will be in Chandler Grey Cemetery, West Yarmouth. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, in Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St., Hyannis.

Colton J. Porter

MILLBURY -- Colton J. Porter, infant son of Shaun M. and Leslie A. (Wagner) Porter of 38 Maple St., died Thursday, Jan. 25, from complications due to congestive heart failure in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus, Worcester.

He leaves his paternal grandmother, Linda G. (Kline) Kline of Millbury; his maternal grandparents, Roger Wagner of Salem and Carol (Yuschalk) Tennant of Windham, Conn.; his paternal stepgrandfather, Leroy Tennant of Windham, Conn.; his paternal great-grandmother, Rose Yuschalk of Storrs, Conn.; his maternal great-grandparents, Jesse and Lucille (DelGrego) Kline of Hamden, Conn.

The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Central Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the March of Dimes, Regional Office, attention Kathy Russell, 114 Turnpike Road, Westboro, MA 01581. Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. is directing arrangements.

Raffaele Protano, 70

WORCESTER -- Raffaele “Ralph” Protano, 70, formerly of 5 Woodford St., a mason and bricklayer, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Holy Trinity Nursing Home after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Anna M. (Setaro) Protano; two sons, Michael Protano of Worcester and Raymond Protano of Sturbridge; three daughters, Donna Protano-Lambutis and Virginia Brunelle, both of Worcester, and Victoria Brunelle of Shrewsbury; a sister, Antoinetta Camarra of Worcester; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; nephews and nieces. A brother, Matteo Protano, and a sister, Michelina Docimo, died before him. He was born in Worcester, son of Domenico and Libera (Bisceglia) Protano. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Protano was a mason and bricklayer for more than 35 years for the Mason and Bricklayers Union Local 6, working for area contractors and mostly for Granger Construction. He was a member of Columbus Civic Association and of the former Italian American Businessman's Club on Lake Avenue.

The funeral service will be held at the family's convenience. A memorial gathering will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at his former residence. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Worcester Firefighters Union Local 1009, 625 Chandler St., Worcester, MA 01602; or to the American Lung Association of Central Massachusetts, 1 Abbey Lane, Middleboro, MA 02346. Antonette A. Cournoyer

PAXTON -- Antonette A. (Antinarella) Cournoyer, 87, of 400 Grove St.,a farm owner and operator, died Sunday, Jan. 7, in the Odd Fellows Home, Worcester, after an illness.

Her husband, Alfred E. Cournoyer, died in 1969. She leaves a son, Lawrence H. Cournoyer of Paxton; a daughter, Blanche C. Haning of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother; three sisters; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nephews and nieces. She was born in West Boylston, daughter of Daniel and Angela (DiSilvia) Antinarella, and was raised in West Boylston and Holden. She lived 60 years in Paxton.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Cournoyer owned and operated Cournoyer Vegetable Farm since 1941.

She was a member of St. Columba Church.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, in St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Ave. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Holden. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, is directing arrangements.

Yolando M. Provencher

HUDSON -- Yolando M. Provencher, 70, of 42 Marlboro St., died Monday, August 7, at her home.

Her husband, Ralph Provencher, died in 1986. She leaves two sons, David Provencher of Hudson and Marc Provencher of Buckely, Wash.; two brothers, Raymond Ouellet and Norman Bergeron; one sister, Yvette Blanchette, all of Nashua, N.H.; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Nashua, N.H., daughter of Arthur and Gabrielle (Beaulieu) Ouellet.

Mrs. Provencher was a member of the Hudson Senior Center and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church Ladies Sodality.

The funeral will be held Thursday, August 10, from Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 21 Manning St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Wayside Hospital, 266 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778.

Robert N. Cormier, 69

GARDNER -- Robert N. Cormier, 69, of 45 Grant St., an Army veteran, died Sunday, July 29, in the Leo P. LaChance Center.

He leaves a brother, J. Rene Cormier of Gardner; two sisters, Louise M. Sontag of Fitchburg, and Lorette Richard of Richibucto, New Brunswick; nieces and nephews. A sister, Bertha Allain of St. Anthony, New Brunswick, died many years ago. He was born in Leominster, son of Amedee and Delina (Richard) Cormier, and lived many years in Fitchburg and 12 years in Gardner. He graduated from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg in 1950, and attended the Shibuya School of Business Science in Tokyo. He was an Army veteran.

Mr. Cormier worked 22 years for the Army at Fort Devens. He also worked in Yokohama, Japan, and Washington, D.C. He retired from the Department of Energy in Washington.

He was a member of the Acadian Cultural Association, the Montachusett Organ Society, the Gardner Golden Age Club, and the Fitchburg Booster Club. He was a past secretary for St. Matthew's Cathedral Club in Washington. He volunteered at the Fellowship Table and Our Father's Table in Fitchburg.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and was a lector and lay presider. He enjoyed reading and line dancing.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, from John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Fitchburg. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, c/o Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner, MA 01440.
