L. Raymond LaVallee, 84

PLAINFIELD, VA. -- L. Raymond LaVallee, 84, of Upper Road, died Saturday in the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Lois Merrix of Plainfield; two sisters, Shirley Carroll of South Yarmouth, Mass. and Arlene Winter of Schenectady, N.Y.; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of George R. and Josephine (Snow) LaVallee. He graduated from South High School in Worcester. He lived in Plainfield since 1961. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Colorado, his master's degree from University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio, and his doctorate in economics from Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y. He served in the Army during World War II.
Dr. LaVallee was a professor of economics, and taught most of his life. For ten years he taught at Goddard College in Plainfield, until his retirement. He was an avid conservationist, he enjoyed bird watching and playing bridge.
There is no planned service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, 13 Loomis St., Montpelier, Vt. 05602. The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., is directing arrangements.
Paul LeBlanc, 62,

LEOMINSTER -- Paul LeBlanc, 62, of 1215 Main St., owner of a construction company, died yesterday in HealthAlliance-Leominster Hospital after he was stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife, Lucinda “Cindee” (Reynolds) LeBlanc; two sons, Adam P. LeBlanc and Keith Reynolds, both of Leominster; a daughter, Rebecca LeBlanc; his father, Joseph O. LeBlanc, also of Leominster; two brothers, Normand LeBlanc of Leominster and Gerard LeBlanc of Lancaster; three sisters, Florence O'Malley of Clinton, Marie Freda of Fitchburg and Geraldine Brideau of Leominster; nephews and nieces. He was born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada, son of Rita (Belliveau) LeBlanc, and lived here most of his life.
He owned and operated LeBlanc Construction Co.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in North Leominster and Leominster Council, Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Oak Hill Country Country Club in Fitchburg and Leominster Council 280, Societe de St. Jean Baptiste.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., North Leominster. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. LEOMINSTER -- A funeral Mass for Paul LeBlanc, 62, of 1215 Main St., will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., North Leominster. Burial will be at St. Cecilia's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Mr. LeBlanc died Monday at HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after being stricken ill at home. Isabell L. Lloyd, 71

BOLTON -- Isabell L. Lloyd, 71, formerly of Bolton, an accomplished seamstress, died Saturday in Bolton Manor Nursing Home, Marlboro, after an illness.
She leaves nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. She was born in Boston, daughter of John and Isabell (Green) Lloyd, and lived in Roxbury, Dorchester and Waltham. She later lived many years in Arizona and about five years in Bolton before moving to Marlboro recently.
She was the family seamstress, and fashioned children's play clothes, plus many prom gowns and wedding gowns. She was also skilled in crocheting, knitting and embroidery, and was talented in freehand drawing.
The funeral will be held Thursday from Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Scituate. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Hope Marie K. Marinelli

WORCESTER -- Hope Marie K. Marinelli, infant daughter of Charles M. Marinelli and Colleen A. King, died Friday in Memorial Hospital.
Besides her parents, she leaves her maternal grandparents, Alan D. King Sr. and Lori Anne Chamberland; her maternal step-grandfather, Allen Chamberland; and her maternal great-grandmothers, Shirley A. Hard and Doris R. Learned, all of Worcester. She was born Friday in Worcester.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Hospital, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 119 Belmont St., Worcester, MA 01605. Paul McDonnell, 82

UPTON -- Paul “Slim” McDonnell, 82, of 10 Church St., a longtime volunteer firefighter, and Army veteran of World War II, died Saturday in Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital, Milford, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Eleanor M. (Fenner) McDonnell; two sons, John McDonnell and George McDonnell, both of Upton; a foster sister, Mildred VanderSea of Whitinsville; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of John P. and Annie (Moore) McDonnell, and lived there before moving to Upton 62 years ago. He was a World War II Army veteran. During the war, he was assigned to the 139th General Hospital, Belgium, and saw action in France, the Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. McDonnell worked as a wheel maker at Bay State Abrasives in Westboro for 34 years, retiring in 1981. He had previously worked as a truck driver for Seaver's Express in Milford.
He was a volunteer for the Upton Fire Company for 30 years, and was then an honorary member since 1971. He was the first ambulance driver for the town in 1941, and volunteered on the town ambulance service for over 20 years.
He was a member of the Marshall-Leland American Post and a member of Holy Angels Church.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Central Square. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. George M. Melican, 80, retired firefighter, inspector

WORCESTER -- George M. Melican, 80, of 26 Barbara Ave., Auburn, formerly of 64 Hitchcock Road, a city firefighter for 38 years, died Saturday at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Lillian C. (Langton) Melican; two sons, George P. Melican of Orange, Calif., and Robert E. Melican of Worcester; a daughter, Maureen L. Kennedy of Auburn; eight grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Martin and Nellie (Grady) Melican, and lived here before moving to Auburn about 1993. He graduated from South High School.
Mr. Melican was a firefighter and fire inspector in the Worcester Fire Department for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He served for eight years on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, and a member and past president of the Massachusetts Fire Prevention Bureau.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Pauline P. Michelson, 79

SPENCER -- Pauline P. (Praskievicz) Michelson, 79, of 2 Wildwood Lane, formerly of Worcester, a telephone operator, died Sunday in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after she was stricken ill at home.
She leaves her husband, Arthur R. Michelson; four brothers, Charles Prask, Walter and John Praskievicz, all of Worcester, and Wallace Praskievicz of Anna Maria, Fla; two sisters, Natalie Olson of Worcester and Mary Bisson of Worcester; nephews and nieces. She was born in Holden, daughter of Adam and Sally (Midura) Praskievicz, and lived many years in Worcester and 30 years in Spencer. She graduated from Holden High School.
Mrs. Michelson was a switchboard operator at New England Telephone Co. in Worcester for 27 years, retiring in 1974.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 19 Midstate Drive, Auburn, MA 01501.
Martin Minarik, 84

WORCESTER -- Martin Minarik, 84, of 14 Palace Garden Road, formerly of Webster, a retired industrial worker, died Sunday in St. Vincent Hospital.
He leaves several nephews and nieces and a close friend, Arthie O. Burke of Shrewsbury. He was born and raised in Webster, son of August and Karoline (Durys) Minarik, and lived here 38 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Minarik worked at Ryan & Whitney Co. for several years, retiring in 1976.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Webster. There are no calling hours.
Evelyn C. Mitchell, 82

WORCESTER -- Evelyn C. (Kalil) Mitchell, 82, of 91 Houghton St., a retired clerical worker, died Tuesday in St. Vincent Hospital.
Her husband, Ralph N. Mitchell, died in 1982. She leaves two sons, Dr. Paul R. Mitchell of West Hartford, Conn., and James M. Mitchell of Toksook bay, Alaska; two daughters, Pamela A. Samara of Shrewsbury and Dorothy C. Mitchell of Needham; a brother, Peter Kalil of Flat Rock, N.C.; a sister, Asaline T. Kalil of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Issa and Telgie (Nimee) Kalil, and graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade School in 1934.
Mrs. Mitchell was a clerical worker at Astra Pharmaceuticals for 14 years, retiring in 1979. She previously was a sales clerk at Barnard's Department Store for many years. She also had been a hair stylist.
She was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral and its women's club. She was also a member of Astra Retirement Club.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today and 10:30 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at the cathedral. A Trisagion service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the cathedral. Catherine G. Moitozo, 96

NORTHBORO -- Catherine G. (DeFaria) Moitozo, 96, formerly of Manning Street, died Saturday at Thornton Nursing Home.
Her husband, Manuel Moitozo, died in 1983. She leaves a son, Manuel Moitozo of Stow; two daughters, Mary Forand of Northboro and Frances Mason of Hudson; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her sister, Mary Moitozo, died in January. She was born in Portugal, daughter of Antionio and Maria (Garcia) DeFaria.
Mrs. Moitozo worked for many years at Ascutney Shoe Co. and Hudson Worsted Co.

Paul Mooradian, 65

WORCESTER -- Paul Mooradian, 65, of 91 East Mountain Road, Westfield, formerly of Worcester, a retired produce clerk, died yesterday in Western Massachusetts Hospital, Westfield.
His wife of 38 years, Sally (Der Bedrosian) Mooradian, died in 1997. He leaves a brother, Aram Mooradian of Winchester; a sister, Agnes Egsegian of Fuquay-Varima, N.C.; nephews and nieces. A brother, Murad Mooradian of Marlboro, died in April. He was born in Worcester, son of Anterias and Yester (Aharonian) Mooradian, and moved to Westfield last year. He attended Worcester public schools.
Mr. Mooradian was a produce clerk at the Farmer's Outlet for 15 years, retiring 35 years ago. He was a member of Armenian Apostolic Holy Trinity Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Armenian Apostolic Holy Trinity Church, 635 Grove St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
