TOWNSEND -- Elsie L. (Welch) Deignan, 74, of 1 Ash St., who at one time worked for the superintendent of schools, died yesterday at Deaconess-Nashoba Hospital, Ayer, after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 33 years, James A. Deignan; four sons, David A. Aho of Spencer, James A. Deignan III in Washington, Alan D. Aho of Norwich, Conn., and Robert W. Deignan of Townsend; a daughter, Maureen E. Betses of Southboro; a brother, Robert A. Welch of Townsend; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Robert W. and Laura (Grenier) Welch, and moved to Townsend 25 years ago. She graduated from Spaulding Memorial High School in 1941.
Mrs. Deignan had been a bookkeeper and office manager for Bain Pest Control in Lowell for six years. Previously, she was secretary to the superintendent of schools in Townsend. She also had worked for Townsend Ford and the B&M Railroad. She was a communicant of St. John's the Evangelist Church.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. John's the Evangelist Church, 1 School St. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St.
Margaret M. Derosier, 76

HARDWICK -- Margaret M. (Hebert) Derosier, 76, of 12 Main St., Gilbertville, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.
Her husband of four years, Raymond Derosier, died in 1944, while serving in World War II. She leaves three daughters, Thelma Chmura of Tolland, Conn., Rita Olson of Brimfield, and Mary Duguay of Ware; a sister, Constance Lorenzo of Montvale, N.J.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. She was born in Gilbertville, daughter of Jean B. and Mary (Mullin) Hebert. She attended Gilbertville schools.
Mrs. Derosier was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Gilbertville. She was also a member of Gilbertville Golden Agers and Gilbertville American Legion Auxiliary.
The funeral will be held Friday from Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., Ware, with a Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, Church Street, Gilbertville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
Dorothy V. Doherty, 86

NORTH BROOKFIELD -- Dorothy V. (Stone) Doherty, 86, of Havre, Mont., formerly of 28 Forrest St., died June 12 in Great Falls Hospital in Montana after an illness.
Her husband, Philip H. Doherty, died in 1993. She leaves a son, John P. Doherty of Havre, Mont., with whom she lived. She was born in North Brookfield, daughter of Harry J. and Victoria M. (Poulin) Stone, and lived here before moving to Montana in 1996. She attended North Brookfield High School.
Mrs. Doherty was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 296 Main St. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. A calling hour is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
Rita N. Erkoc, 66

WORCESTER -- Rita N. (Erti) Erkoc, 66, of the Life Care Center of Auburn, formerly of 124 Dorchester St., a licensed practical nurse for 29 years, died Sunday in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.
She leaves a daughter, Teresa Erkoc-Maloney of Charlton; two sons, Richard Erkoc on Cape Cod and Ali Erkoc of Worcester; a brother, James Erti; two sisters, Domenica Bristol and Louise Wright, all of Worcester; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Rocco and Nancy (Lentini) Erti, and lived there before moving to Auburn last year. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and Westboro State Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Erkoc was a licensed practical nurse at Belmont Home for seven years, retiring in 1990. Before then, she was a licensed practical nurse for 22 years at Blaire House Care Facility.
Mrs. Erkoc was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church.
The funeral will be held Thursday from Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Road. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Robert L. Fafard, 60

WORCESTER -- Robert L. Fafard, 60, of 5 Branch St., died Sunday in New England Medical Center in Boston.
He leaves two sons, Mickel Fafard of Worcester and James Fafard of Spencer; sevens daughters, Cathy Ayala, Carol Fafard and Denise Fafard, all of Worcester, Lori Fafard and Sue Fafard, both of Southbridge, and Donna Fafard of Fla. and Michelle Fafard of Spencer; and seven grandchildren. He was born in Southbridge, son of Ernest J. and Rodolphine (Lavallee) Fafard.
He worked at various manufacturing firms.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St., with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. -- Emily I. (Sczepanski) Feldman, 62, of 2155 Laurel Lane, formerly of Millbury, Mass., died Tuesday at home after a short illness.
She leaves her husband of 36 years, Leonard C. Feldman; and several uncles, aunts and cousins in the Webster, Mass., and Putnam, Conn., area. She was born in Worcester, Mass., daughter of Walter and Irene (Jarvis) Sczepanski, and lived in Millbury before moving to Florida in 1960. She graduated from St. Anne's Academy in Marlboro and Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro, Mass.
Mrs. Feldman was a member of St. Joseph Church in Surfside.
The funeral will be held Saturday from Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Putnam. A calling hour is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

BROOKFIELD -- Norman F. “Butch” Flewelling Jr., 40, of 27 Maple St., died Friday in Mary Lane Hospital, Ware, after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife, Brenda L. (Morin) Flewelling; a son, Jason M. Flewelling of Asheville, N.C.; a daughter, Olivia R. Flewelling of Southbridge; a step-daughter, Crystal L. Flewelling of Brookfield; his mother, Lena H. (Greer) Flewelling of Brookfield; two brothers, Paul R. Flewelling of Brookfield and David J. Flewelling of Spring Hill, Fla.; and a sister, Bonita R. Swanger of Asheville. He was born in Houlton, Maine, son of Norman F. and Lena H. Flewelling. He grew up in Maine, and then lived here for 25 years.
Mr. Flewelling worked for ten years at Heitkamp Company of Watertown, Conn., and recently worked for G.L. Finney Company in Brookfield. He was also a self-employed automobile mechanic. He was a member of the Brookfield Rod & Gun Club.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Pillsbury Funeral Home, Old West Brookfield Road. Burial will be at Brookfield Cemetery. Mr. Flewelling, an automotive mechanic, died Friday in Mary Lane Hospital, Ware, after he was stricken ill at home.

Paul M. Francesketti, 75

WARREN -- Paul M. Francesketti, 75, of Highland Street, West Warren, Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and retired office clerk, died yesterday at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Sheila D. (Sullivan) Francesketti; a daughter, Rebecca A. Ebbighausen of Suffield, Conn.; a sister, Margaret E. Hartshorn of West Deerfield; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Palmer, son of Dominic and Ruby (Weir) Francesketti, and lived here most of his life. He graduated from Warren High School and was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
Mr. Francesketti was an office clerk at Warren Pumps for 46 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in West Warren. He was also an avid horse enthusiast.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Warren. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Quaboag Valley Hospice, 103 Fairview St., Palmer, Ma 01069. Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main St., West Brookfield, is directing arrangements.
Louise Garlepp, 90

WEBSTER -- Louise (Schellbach) Garlepp, 90, formerly of Salter Street and Golden Heights, a former health code supervisor, died yesterday in Olympus Health Care, Worcester, after an illness.
She leaves a son, Russell F. Garlepp of Worcester; a grandson, Raymond McElroy of Thomopson; a great-granddaughter; nephews and nieces. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of William and Mary (Hagadorn) Schellbach, and lived there more than 60 years. She then lived several years in Dudley, and more than 25 years in Webster before she recently moved to Worcester. She graduated from a Brooklyn high school.
Mrs. Garlepp was a health code supervisor for 30 years in the Brooklyn office of the New York City Department of Public Health. She retired in 1970.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Bartel Funeral Home, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley. Burial will be in Corbin Cemetery, Dudley. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Bernard J. Gaudreau, 80

LEOMINSTER -- Bernard J. “Bunny” Gaudreau, 80, of 673 Lancaster St., Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, died Tuesday at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Rita B. (Fontaine) Gaudreau; a son, Robert B. Gaudreau of Leominster; a sister, Margaret Lavigne of Worcester; two granddaughters; nephews and nieces. He was born in Burlington, Vt., son of Peter and Mary (Dobson) Gaudreau, and lived here many years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Sea Bees, and of the Korean War.
Mr. Gaudreau worked in shipping and receiving at ESP Lock Co. for the past 20 years. He previously worked in shipping and receiving at Independent Lock Co., Fitchburg, for 40 years.
He was a member of St. Cecilia's Parish. He was also a member of Fitchburg Knights of Columbus Council 99. He was a life member, past president and treasurer of Montachusett Twirlers. He also belonged to several bowling leagues for many years.
The funeral will be held Saturday from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
