Kenneth S. Thomson, 76

SPENCER -- Kenneth S. Thomson, 76, of 31 Church St., a retired school custodian and former rescue squad director, died Monday at Webster Manor Nursing Home, Webster, following a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Doris M. (Benoit) Thomson; two daughters, Jean M. Klimek of Herndon, Va. and Judith A. Cetrone of Auburn; and three grandsons. He was born in Roxbury, son of Alexander and Catherine (Thompson) Thomson and lived here most of his life. He graduated from David Prouty High School and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Thomson was a custodian at Lake Street School in Spencer for four years, retiring in 1986. Previously, he was a terminal manager for several area transportation and trucking companies. He was a lector at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. He once directed the Spencer Rescue Squad, and was a member of Gaudette-Kirk Post 138, American Legion, Spencer Chapter, American Association of Retired Persons, and the Spencer Golden Age Club.
The funeral will be held Friday from J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary, 7 Church St. Burial will be in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Lillian Torres, 40

WORCESTER -- Lillian Torres, 40, of 37 Constitution Ave., died yesterday in University Commons after an illness.
She leaves a son, Juan Santiago of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Elizabeth Santiago of Columbus; her mother, Cristobalina Martinez of Worcester; five brothers, Ricardo and Louis Martinez and Pablo Torres, all of Worcester, Elias Torres of Melbourne, Fla., and Samuel Torres of Palm Bay, Fla.; four sisters, Luz M. Oquendo, Miriam, Mildred and Maria Torres, all of Worcester; four grandchildren. She was born in Vega Baga, Puerto Rico, daughter of Pablo Torres, and lived here 25 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Sister Mary Immaculata

HARVARD -- Sister Mary Immaculata, 70, with the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, known in secular life as Evelyn J. Uberti, of St. Anne's Convent, 254 Still River Road, Still River. A longtime publishing overseer and schoolteacher, died Thursday night at home after a long illness.
She leaves two sisters, Margaret Baker of Freeport, Maine, and Ruth Arena of Waltham; nephews and nieces. She was born in Jamaica Plain, daughter of Joseph and Grace (Purves) Uberti, and was raised in Waltham. She lived 40 years in Still River. She graduated from Waltham High School. She attended Radcliffe College in Cambridge and graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston.
She entered the holy order in 1949. Sister Immaculata was the overseer of publishing for the order in Still River for many years. She was also a teacher at St. Benedict Center School.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anne's Chapel, 254 Still River Road, Still River. Burial will be in St. Benedict's Center Cemetery, Still River. Calling hours are 2 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the convent. Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, is directing arrangements.
Claire C. Vincent, 73

MILLBURY -- Claire C. (Snyder) Vincent, 73, of 114 Main St., died Monday at home after being stricken ill.
Her husband of 36 years, Eugene E. “Pint” Vincent, died in 1980. She leaves two sons, Michael J. Vincent of Marlboro and Robert J. Vincent of East Douglas; two daughters, Diane M. Greenfield of Millbury and Loretta C. Small of Grafton; a brother, John R. Snyder of Sutton; three sisters, Doris M. Krupinski of Webster, Wilfreda S. Parsons of Worcester, and Eileen M. Desjourdy of East Douglas; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Another son, Gene R. Vincent of Grafton, died February 4; a brother, Alfred R. “Bobby” Snyder of Northbridge, died February 3; and a sister, Mary M. “Toots” Couture, died in July. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Wilfred and Emma (Lazure) Snyder, lived in Millbury six years and Sutton 45 years before returning to Millbury three years ago.
Mrs. Vincent was a member of Charles F. Minney Post 3329, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and St. Brigid's Church. She was an avid bingo player.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Turgeon Funeral Home, 64 Main St. Burial will be in St. Brigid's Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Celina I. Vorron, 75

WORCESTER -- Celina I. (Vassar) Vorron, 75, of 204 Dewey St., died yesterday in Clark Manor Nursing Home after an illness.
Her husband, Charles M. Vorron Sr., died in 1953. She leaves a son, Charles M. Vorron Jr. of Florida; four daughters, Florence R. Vorron of Gaithersburg, Md., Shirley M. LeClair of Worcester, Tina A. Vorron of Silver Spring, Md., and Donna L. Fontaine of Worcester; seven grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Killingly, Conn., daughter of Charles J. and Francesca (LeFebvre) Vassar, and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Millbury High School.
Mrs. Vorron was a housekeeper at Worcester City Hospital before retiring in 1985. She was an avid reader.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Eva Weinberg, 66

SHREWSBURY -- Eva Weinberg, 66, of 36 North Quinsigamond Ave., a retired nurse's aide, died yesterday at home after being stricken ill.
She leaves two sisters, Annie Weinberg and Shirley White, both of Worcester; and several cousins. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Louis and Fannie (Rivlin) Weinberg, and lived in Worcester most of her life. She moved here several years ago.
She was a nurse's aide at Worcester City Hospital for many years, retiring several years ago. She was a member of Tefereth Israel Synagogue, Worcester. She was also a member of Yeshiva Achei Timimim in Worcester.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Holy Society Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Leicester. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity. Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
Cecil R. Wheeler, 89

WEBSTER -- Cecil R. Wheeler, 89, of Webster, former longtime resident of Glenn Street in Douglas, died Monday in Hubbard Regional Health Center.
He leaves his wife, Germaine (Robidoux) Butler Wheeler; five sons, Cecil E., Roy A. and Philip G. Wheeler, all of Webster, Paul B. Wheeler of Clarksburg, and William A. Wheeler of Great Barrington; a daughter, Esther S. Korfhage of Eastpoint, Ga.; four stepsons, Raymond Butler of Charlton, Gerald Butler of Oxford, Jean Butler of Lunenburg, and Donald Butler of Oregon; a sister, Emily Thompson of Jonesboro, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. His first wife, Helen E. (Mefcalf) Wheeler, died in 1973. He was born in Ansonia, Conn., son of Everett E. and Alice (Murtha) Wheeler, and attended Sutton schools.
Mr. Wheeler was a card stripper for many years at Hayward Shuster Woolen Mill in East Douglas. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of North Grosvenordale, and a former member of United Methodist Church in East Douglas. A Mason for more than 50 years, he was past master of Mumford River Lodge in East Douglas and past patron of the Miriam Chapter, Order of Easter Star in Douglas. He was also past master of the Douglas Grange and of the Sutton and Worcester Southwest Pomona Granges, and first president of the Douglas Sunshine Club and Friends of the Douglas Elders. He was an organizer and first chairman of the Douglas Housing Authority, past chairman of the Douglas Council on Aging, and served on the board of Worcester Community Action Council.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main St., Uxbridge. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, East Douglas. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in the funeral home. A Masonic ritual will be held at 7 p.m. tomorrow. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 1, North Grosvenordale, Conn., or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Joan I. Hamilton, 76

NATICK -- Joan I. (Hardacker) Hamilton, 76, of Natick, died Sunday, June 3, in Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Her husband, Ralph P. Hamilton, died in 1998. She leaves two sons, including Glenn Hamilton of Webster; two sisters; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild. She was born in Lexington.
Mrs. Hamilton was a bookkeeper many years for the town, and also worked in the school lunch program at Natick High School.The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 7, in Mitchell Funeral Home, 105 North Main St. Interment will be in Dell Park Cemetery. Helen W. Williams, 67

CLINTON -- Helen W. (Konan) Williams, 67, of 190 Grove St., a retired registered nurse, died yesterday at home after an illness.
She leaves a son, Scott Williams of Clinton; a daughter, Barbara A. Goodwin of Kings Mountain, N.C.; two brothers, Albert J. and Alfred J. Konan, both of Clinton; a grandson; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces; and a long-time companion, James P. Maffei of Clinton. She was born in West Sterling, daughter of Michael and Blanche (Karsonovich) Konan, and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1948 and from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in 1951.
She was the first registered nurse from Worcester County to leave for Gary, Ind., as a specialist during the polio epidemic in 1952 and remained there until 1959. She later worked at Clinton Hospital, Worcester County Hospital, and retired from Worcester State Hospital in 1986.
She was a member of Our Lady of Jasna Gora Church. She was a member of Massachusetts Nurses Association and Worcester City Hospital Alumni Association. She was also a member of Retired State and Municipal Employees Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 523 Ladies Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and American Association of Retired Persons.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Robert J. McNally Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Jasna Gora Church, 124 Franklin St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Edward L. Wise, 79

LUNENBURG -- Edward L. Wise, 79, of 70 Lesure Ave., died Sunday in Birchwood Care Center, Fitchburg, after a short illness.
His wife, Glenna (Rousseau) Wise, died years ago. He leaves two stepsons, Dennis Martines of Lunenburg and Nick Martines of Framingham; a stepdaughter, Sandra Mazzaferro of Leominster; and several step-grandchildren. Born in Boston, son of James F. and Mary E. (McGovern) Wise, he lived many years in Lunenburg. A World War II Army veteran who served in the Pacific, he received a Purple Heart.
Mr. Wise was an inventory clerk 24 years at Selig Manufacturing Co., a furniture maker in Leominster. He retired in 1982. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in North Leominster and the Eastwood Club in Fitchburg. He was an enthusiastic bowler.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from M.A. Simard & Son Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., North Leominster. Burial will be private in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
