Phyllis P. Richardson
SACO, Maine - Phyllis P. (Park) Richardson, 85, formerly of Belmont, died Sept. 20, 2000, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Saco. She was the wife of the late James L. Richardson.
She was born in Cambridge and had been a resident of Belmont for many years. She was a former member of the Belmont Dramatic Club and Vokes Players in Wayland.
She is survived by a son, Kennedy P. Richardson and his wife Susan M. of Boston; a daughter, Natalie R. Savage and her husband Breen R. of Kennebunk, Maine; a sister, Natalie E. Park of Kennebunk, Maine; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.

Ruth V. Holmes
BROOKLINE - Ruth Virginia Holmes, 83, of Brookline, formerly of Watertown and Belmont, died Sept. 13, 2000, at the Chilton House in Cambridge. Ms. Holmes was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Louis C. and Helen (Bartlett) Holmes. She grew up in Belmont, and graduated from Belmont High School in 1934, Chandler Secretarial School in Boston in 1936, the Waltham School of Nursing in 1940, and the Boston University School of Nursing with a bachelor of science degree in orthopedic nursing in 1952. She enlisted in the Army Corps of Nurses in 1941, and served until 1946, being discharged with the rank of captain. She served 3 1/2 years in the Asian Pacific (Guam and Saipan) as well as Hawaii. Following her discharge, Ms. Holmes continued her nursing career at the Cushing Veterans in Framingham and later the Boston Veterans Hospital in Jamaica Plain, where she served as supervisor of nursing until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of the American Legion Post 99 of Watertown and was supportive of many veterans affairs. Ms. Holmes is survived by six cousins, Dr. June E. Holmes of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Stanley Robinson of Lebanon, N.H., Mrs. Marjorie Rockwell of Centerville, Mrs. Nancy Depuy of Moultonboro, N.H., Mrs. Jane Crawford of Stratford, Conn., and Mrs. Harold J. Clark of San Diego, Calif. A memorial service was held Sept. 24, in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in Watertown Square. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Conrado T. Fleites
Conrado Tomas Fleites of Belmont died August 31, 2000 after battling brain cancer for 18 months. He was the husband of Maureen Fleites. Mr. Fleites was born in Havana, Cuba. He immigrated to the United States in 1962 and grew up in foster homes in Foxborough. A graduate of University of Massachusetts at Amherst, he received a master's degree from Boston State College in bilingual counseling. In 1984, he teamed with Jaime Tipping and Phil Carvalho to open the Boston Sail Loft Restaurant on Atlantic Avenue. Mr. Fleites was a trustee of Bunker Hill Community College and a member of the Governor's Hispanic-American Advisory Commission. In addition to his wife, Mr. Fleites leaves four children, Conrad, Susanna, Caroline and John, all of Belmont; and a sister, Elsa, of New York City. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Sept. 5, at St. Joseph's Church. Donations in Mr. Fleites memory may be sent to El Centra Cardenal, care of Catholic Charities, 75 Kneeland Street, Boston, MA 02111, to benefit the Hispanic community.
John Blackman Jr.
John F. Blackman Jr., 77, died Sept. 21, 2000. He was the husband of Joan (Beattie) Blackman. He was born in Watertown, and was a lifelong resident of Belmont. Mr. Blackman was a graduate of Cushing Academy. Mr. Blackman was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. For over 50 years he was employed in sales for D.F. Monroe. He was an active member of Payson Park Congregational Church. He was an active swimmer at Belmont High School since the pool first opened. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul J. Blackman and his wife Kathleen of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Linda J. Silva and her husband Mark of Milton; two brothers, David Blackman of Gloucester, and Peter Blackman of Waterford, Maine; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jill Gallison of Marion. A funeral service was held Sept. 26, from the Payson Park Congregational Church in Belmont. Interment was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. For those who wish, contributions in Mr. Blackman's memory may be made to the Payson Park Church Memorial Fund, 365 Belmont St., Belmont, MA 02478. Frances G. Fewer
Frances G. Fewer, 87, of Belmont, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at Belmont Manor Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Johanna (Terry) Fewer. Ms. Fewer was employed as a lab technician for the Polaroid Corp. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Fewer. The funeral was held from the Stanton Funeral Home, Watertown, Monday, Oct. 2 with a funeral Mass in the Church of St. Luke in Belmont. Interment followed in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
John Kelleher, Jr.
John F. Kelleher, Jr., former president, business agent and organizer of the Carpenter's Union, died at his home on Sept. 28, 2000, after a brief illness. He was 74. A graduate of Belmont High School, Class of 1943, he attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Hyannis, plus other specialty schools. Mr. Kelleher lived in Belmont all of his life. He was president, business agent and organizer of the Carpenters Local 275 in Newton for many years and was a member for over 50 years. He was the former president of the Newton District Council of Carpenters, representing over 13 cities and towns. As the former teacher of various government-sponsored union programs for members and their wives, he was also active in many civic associations, including the American Legion (Post 165), the Knights of Columbus and the Irish American Club. After retiring from the union, Mr. Kelleher was very active in the real estate business in Belmont and went on to earn his sales and brokerage licenses. He was the husband of the late Dorothy C. (Ingram) Kelleher, formerly of Jamaica Plain. He is survived by his brother, Andrew V. Kelleher; a brother-in-law, Dr. Edward E. Kelleher; and a sister-in-law, Muriel (Reynolds) Kelleher. He was predeceased by his sister, Marguerite (Peggy) G. Kelleher, his brother, Richard (Dick) M. Kelleher; and a sister-in-law, Doris (O'Donnell) Kelleher. He also leaves 14 nieces and nephews, and 13 grandnieces and grandnephews. Services were held Oct. 2, at Stanton Funeral Home in Watertown. Funeral was held Oct. 3, at St. Joseph's Church, Belmont. Interment will be at Belmont Cemetery.
Dorothy Currier
Dorothy S. Currier, 91, a longtime resident of Belmont, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at the Belmont Manor Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late George W. Currier. Born in Canada, she was the daughter of the late John and Addi (Ruggles) Simpson. She was a homemaker and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Belmont. Mrs. Currier is survived by a son, Richard Currier of Watertown; a daughter, Joan Ralph of Florida; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, George Currier Jr. and Robert Currier. Funeral services were held at the Greene Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 28 with the Rev. Clark of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Belmont Cemetery with the Rev. Clark officiating.
Muriel Anderson
WALTHAM - Muriel (Baker) Anderson, 83, died Sept. 25, 2000. She was the wife of the late Carl S. Anderson. She was born in Boston and was a graduate of Belmont High School. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Chosen Friends Rebekah Lodge 207, member of the Palestine Chapter 114, member of the Daughters of the Nile Opela Temple 50, Past Matron of the Belmont Chapter of Eastern Star, and a longtime member of the Belmont United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, Stewart C. Anderson of Bowdoinham, Maine; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Marion Baker; and five grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Judith (Anderson) Walsh, and the sister of the late Lyman, Karl, Harold, Arthur, Lillian and Charlotte Baker. A funeral service was held Sept. 29, from the Belmont United Methodist Church. Interment was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. For those who wish, contributions in Mrs. Anderson's memory may be made to the Belmont United Methodist Church, or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements were under the care of the Brown & Sons Funeral Home, Belmont.
Susan Bailis
Services were held Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at the Spingold Theatre in Waltham for Susan (Solender) Bailis, who died Wednesday, Sept. 27 at her home in Belmont. Rabbi Al Axelrad from Brandeis University officiated. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Little Compton, R.I.
Mrs. Bailis was a resident of Belmont and Little Compton, R.I.
She was the wife of Lawrence Neil Bailis. She is also survived by a daughter, Kathryn Ann Bailis; a son, David Gerald Bailis; her father, Sanford Solender of Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers, Stephen Solender and Peter Solender; and a sister, Ellen Hirsch. She was predeceased by her mother, Ethel (Klonick) Solender.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Susan S. Breast Cancer Research Fund of the Silent Spring Institute, 29 Crafts St., Newton, MA 02458.
