NORTHBORO - The funeral for Edward D. Cleary Jr., 74, of 22 Lawrence St., a World War II veteran, who died Friday, Dec. 14, at home after a long illness, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, in Leland -Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Rose of Lima Renovation Fund, PO Box 685, Northboro, MA 01532. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Pauline G. (Jeffries) Cleary; two sons, John J. Carey of Southboro and Edward D. Cleary III of Northboro; a daughter, Beverly Ann Potter of Cape Coral, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was born in San Francisco, son of Edward D. and Della (Monahan) Cleary, and was raised in Worcester before moving to Northboro in 1955. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Pacific Ocean. Mr. Cleary worked at Westboro State Hospital, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church.
