The Rev. John E. Connor, 92
Boston - The Rev. John E. Connor, 92, a resident of Centerville, died January 22, 1998 at the Regina Cleri Residence for Priests in Boston.
Born in Arlington, Father Connor attended Arlington schools and later attended Boston College High School. He graduated from Boston College in 1927.
He studied at St. John's Seminar in Brighton and was ordained in 1932 by Cardinal William O'Connell at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston.
A priest for 66 years, he oversaw the building of St. Clare's Church in Braintree Highlands. While at the parish, he trained altar boys, started a choir and taught Sunday school.
Father Connor also formed the Mr. and Mrs. Club, Woman's Sodality, the Holy Name Society and the Altar Guild while at St. Clare's. He served at the church from its opening in 1959 until his retirement in 1974.
He was responsible in part for several innovations at the church, including turning the altar to face the parish and removing the railing, which allowed parents to help their children receive Communion.
Before serving at St. Clare's, he served at St. Catherine's Church in Somerville, St. Columbkille's Church in Brighton and St. Philip's Church in Boston.
After his retirement, he moved permanently to Centerville, where he had a second home for many years.
Funeral services and burial were held in Boston.
John K. Costello, 44
Glastonbury, Conn. - John K. Costello, 44, a labor relations lawyer, died January 31, 1998 at Manchester Memorial Hospital of complications of pneumonia.
He was the son of Patrick and Sheila (Finn) Costello of Centerville.
Mr. Costello was raised and educated in Hingham, where he was active in sports and the drama club. He continued to enjoy acting and directing at the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge, while attending Harvard University. He graduated with honors from both Harvard University and Suffolk University Law School.
Mr. Costello was employed for many years as a labor relations lawyer at Southern New England Telephone. He was a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Thomas Costello of Marstons Mills; a sister, Patricia Selander of Scituate; a niece and a nephew; and his former wife, Johanna Schaefer of Moodus.
A memorial service will be held in the spring at a time and place to be announced later.

Elizabeth Duarte, 79
Marstons Mills - Elizabeth (Enos) Duarte, 79, a retired typesetter and former telephone operator, died February 3, 1998 at the Center for Optimum Care in Mashpee.
She was the wife of Joseph S. Duarte Sr.
Born in Santuit, she was educated in Cotuit and was a graduate of Barnstable High School. She was a telephone operator at Camp Edwards during World War II and a typesetter for Lujean Printing in Cotuit for 20 years, retiring in 1980.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Edward J. Duarte of Powell, Ohio, and Joseph S. Duarte Jr. of Marstons Mills; a daughter, Judith VanKleef of Peabody; a brother, Alfred Enos of Hyannis; 10 grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.
The funeral and burial were private.

Richard W. "Dickie" Edwards Jr., 49
Hyannis - Richard W. "Dickie" Edwards Jr., 49, died February 6, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Patricia Vogel.
Mr. Edwards was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Barnstable, where he attended school and played sports.
He was a self-employed fisherman and auto mechanic.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Alleyne (Williams) Edwards of Hyannis; two sons, Michael Edwards of Falmouth and Richard W. Edwards III of West Yarmouth; three daughters, Theresa Breakel, Diana Edwards, and Brittany Vogal, all of West Yarmouth; two brothers, Charles and Ervin Edwards of Hyannis; four sisters, Deborah Galvin of West Yarmouth, and Sharon St. Pierre, Marlen Edwards, and Gail Jean, all of Hyannis; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral was held February 10 in the Old Indian Cemetery
in Mashpee.
Frank D. Emery, 79
Cummaquid - Frank D. Emery, 79, a resident of Cummaquid since 1956, died February 3, 1998 at Windsor Nursing Home.
He was the husband of Anne (Sullivan) Rogers Emery.
Mr. Emery was born in Kittery, Maine. He was a graduate of Pace Accounting School in Boston.
Mr. Emery served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during World War II. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Jill E. Kuehl of Heath; three sons, Joseph F. Emery of Milpitas, Calif., Jay W. Emery and Joshua J. Emery, both of Cummaquid; a brother, Walter C. Emery of New Jersey; three sisters, Joyce Emery of Pacific Palisades, Calif., Marie Baker of Harwich and Joan Lucas of Harwich Port; and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral service was held February 6 at the Hallett Funeral Home in South Yarmouth. Burial followed at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Dominic L. Giampietro, 71
Naples, Fla. - Dominic L. Giampietro, 71, a former Osterville resident, died February 1, 1998 at home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Grace (Smith) Giampietro.
Mr. Giampietro was born in Norwood. He lived in Canton, Milton and Osterville before moving to Naples in 1981. He made his living as both a professional engineer and a commercial real estate developer.
Mr. Giampietro served in the Navy during World War II. He was a former vice president and director of the Associated Builders and Contractors Association of Massachusetts, a former president of the Oyster Harbors Homeowners Association, as well as a member of the Quail Creek and Grey Oaks Country Clubs in Naples. He was also a lifetime honorary member of both the Florida Sheriffs' Association and the 100 Club of Massachusetts.
He was an avid tennis player and traveler up until the time of his illness.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Richard Giampietro of Middleboro, Mass., and Dean Giampietro of Telluride, Colo.; a sister, Jean McDonald of Titusville; two brothers, Edward Giampietro of Estero and Louis Giampietro of East Sandwich; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service was held in Naples. Memorial donations may be made to the Naples Hospice or to a local hospice chapter.
John F. Lally, 77
Osterville - John F. Lally, 77, a retired teacher and coach, died February 7, 1998 at E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford.
He was the husband of Dorothy (French) Lally.
Born in Holyoke, Mr. Lally moved to Osterville from Arlington, Va., in 1977. He was a 1943 graduate of Amherst College, where he was captain of the baseball team from 1942 to 1943. In 1959, he was named to the First Team All-Amherst Baseball Team.
He was a teacher and coach at Worcester Academy, then went to C.T.A. where he worked for 24 years in the Far East Division until his retirement in 1974.
Mr. Lally was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in China with SACO, training guerrillas. He was an alcohol and drug counselor in Arlington, Va., and for Cape Counseling Center in Hyannis.
He was a member of the Osterville Men's Club, Cape Cod Horticultural Society, Men's Club and Senior Bowling Leagues, and of the Amherst Club of Cape Cod, where he served as treasurer. He served as a town representative for five years.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Laura French Jessup of Fairfax Station, Va.; three brothers, James Lally of Holyoke, William Lally of Hadley and Vincent Lally of Westfield, N.J.; and two grandsons. He was also the father of the late J. Dickinson Lally.
A memorial service was held February 12 at the United Methodist Church in Osterville. Burial was private.

Lydia I. Piermarochi, 69
Fitchburg - Lydia I. Piermarochi, 69, who leaves a sister in Osterville, died January 28, 1998 at Leominster Hospital after an illness.
A lifelong resident of Fitchburg, she attended Fitchburg High School. She was an assembler for Foster Grant in Leominster for 40 years until her retirement in 1986.
Surviving are a brother, Francis L. Piermarochi of Fitchburg; a sister, Philomena Reed of Osterville; and several nieces and nephews. Services were private.

Marion Rautenberg, 84
Chelmsford - Marion B. (Fleury) Rautenberg, 84, who leaves a son in Centerville, died February 9, 1998 at the Northwood Nursing Home in Lowell.
She was the wife of Willard F. Rautenberg, who died in 1989.
Born in Andover, she was a 1931 graduate of Melrose High School. Over the years, she was employed by Jordan Marsh department store in Malden. Mrs. Rautenberg attended the Melrose Congregational Church and the Yarmouth Congregational Church.
Surviving are two sons, Norman E. Rautenberg of Tyngsboro and Kenneth W. Rautenberg of Centerville; two grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held February 11 at Dolan Funeral Home in Chelmsford.
