Olga Naun, 86, leaves family in Tewksbury
SOMERVILLE — Olga (Dimitri) Naun, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at the Westford Rehabilitation Center in Westford. She was the wife of the late Joseph Naun.
She was born in Albania on Aug. 6, 1915, the daughter of the late Simon and Lone (Stevens) Dimitri.
She is survived by two daughters-in-law, JoAnn Naun of Tewksbury, and Gloria Naun of Shrewsbury; four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Richard and Paul Naun.
A funeral was held Oct. 24, from the Cataldo Funeral Home in Somerville, followed by a funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Albanian Orthodox Church, South Boston.
Gladys McCartney, 69, of Tewksbury
TEWKSBURY — Gladys McCartney, 69, a longtime resident of Lord Manor, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Tewksbury Hospital.
She was born in Lowell on June 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Charles and Marie L. (Berard) McCartney. She graduated from Lowell schools.
Miss McCartney was a communicant of St. Marie’s Church.
She is survived by three brothers, Charles E. McCartney of Lowell, Gerald McCartney of Tewksbury, and Richard McCartney and his wife Kathleen of Jackson, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Donald, William, Louise and Marion McCartney.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 30, in St. Marie’s Church in Lowell. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford.
John N. Behrikis, 78, of Waltham
WALTHAM — John N. Behrikis, 78, died Oct. 26, 2001, at the Reservoir Nursing Home in Waltham. He was the husband of Christina R. (Riggio) Behrikis.
He was born in Somersworth, N.H., the son of the late Nicholas and Stella (Logothetis) Bahrakis.
During World War II, Mr. Behrikis served in the Army.
Before retiring, he was a shipping supervisor at McNabb Engineering in Waltham. He was also an ordained minister involved in evangelical ministry.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Christopher D. Behrikis and his wife Christine of Milford; two daughters, Virginia S. Behrikis of Weymouth, and Niki V. Shanahan and her husband John of Tyngsboro; two brothers, Peter Behrikis of Belmont and Dr. Anthony Bahros of Norwell; two sisters, Theresa Pintabone of Waltham and Jane McGonigle of Wayland; an aunt, Maria Safina of Waltham; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late John M. Behrikis; and the brother of the late George and William Behrikis.
A funeral service was held Oct. 29, in the Joyce Funeral Home in Waltham. Interment was in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.

S. Joseph Pepe, 91, leaves family in Chelmsford
HAVERHILL — S. Joseph Pepe, 91, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Oct. 25, 2001, at Prescott House in North Andover.
He was born in Haverhill on May 7, 1910, the son of the late Antonio and Josephine (Bevilacqua) Pepe. He graduated from Haverhill High School, and the McIntosh Business College in Haverhill.
Mr. Pepe was employed as the manager of United Liquors Inc. in Haverhill for 25 years, retiring in 1983. Following his retirement, he served as a consultant to the company at their corporate headquarters. He also worked as a sales representative for M. Carney Co. of Lawrence.
For 20 years, Mr. Pepe served as chairman of the board at Northeast Community Credit Union in Haverhill, and currently had been chairman emeritus of the board of directors.
He was a member of the St. James Church in Haverhill. He was a honorary life member of the Bishop Minihan Council No. 202, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Haverhill Lodge of Elks No. 165, where he was the first Italian American to serve as exalted ruler of the Lodge. He was also a life member of the Victor Emanul Lodge, Sons of Italy.
An accomplished vocalist, he served as the soloist at St. James Church, the Bradford Men’s Club, Greater Haverhill Holy Name Choir, and the Haverhill Elks Lodge Quartet. He also sang at weddings and funerals for churches in the Haverhill area.
He is survived by a daughter, Anne R. Coddaire and her husband John W. Coddaire III of Chelmsford; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Oct. 29, from the C. Frank Linnehan & Son Funeral Home in Haverhill, followed by a funeral Mass in St. James Church. Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.

Brian E. Swimm, , 48, formerly of Chelmsford
WESTFORD — Brian E. Swimm, 48, formerly of Chelmsford, died Oct. 21, 2001. He was the husband of Susan L. (Pehrson) Swimm.
He was born in Lowell on Sept. 10, 1953, the son of Bradford L Swimm of Chelmsford and the late Kathleen T. (Hennessey) Swimm. Mr. Swimm graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1971, and attended the former University of Lowell, where he was a member of the Delta Kapp Phi fraternity.
Mr. Swimm was the manager at NES Embroidery Inc. in Bedford.
He attended south Chelmsford Baptist Church in Chelmsford and was also a member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks.
Mr. Swimm resided in Westford for the past five years.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by a son, Justin A. Swimm of Westford; a daughter, Heather L. Swimm of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, Randall T. Swimm and his wife Katherine of Tujunga, Calif., and Richard A. Swimm and his wife Michelle of Holland; a sister, Kathleen Stott and her husband Dennis of Chelmsford; his aunt, Rita of Chelmsford; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Oct. 25, at the South Chelmsford Baptist Church.
Arrangements were under the care of the Blake Funeral Home, Chelmsford.
Joseph T. Visniewski, 78, leaves family in Chelmsford
LOWELL — Joseph T. Visniewski, 78, died Oct. 26, 2001, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell. He was the husband of the late Patricia M. (Schults) Visniewski.
He was born in Chelmsford on Dec. 13, 1922, the son of the late Stanley and Caroline Visniewski. He was educated in Chelmsford schools.
Mr. Visniewski served in the Army during World War II as an ammunition carrier. He was involved in the Solomon Island Campaign, earning the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
Following his honorable discharge, he was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad, and traveled with the railroad. Later, he married and settled down in Lowell and was employed for Southwell Combing.
He was also a longtime employee for the city’s Parks Division, and was a member of the Polish American Veterans Club.
He is survived by a daughter, MaryAnn Visniewski of Lowell; a brother, Frank Visniewski of Las Vegas; a sister, Helen Azarowski of Chelmsford; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Sophie Gore, Walter, Tony, Stanley, John and Andrew Visniewski.
A funeral was held Oct. 20, from the McDonough Funeral Home in Lowell, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Margaret’s Church. Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell.
Emily M. Anderson, 88, of Lexington
Emily Myers Anderson, 88, of Lexington, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, of pneumonia. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Anderson.
The daughter of the late Wilbur and Bina Myers, she was raised in Franklin, Pa. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1930 and attended Dana Hall in Wellesley for a year. In 1935 she graduated from Smith College where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa her junior year and lettered in three sports each year. After teaching at the Northampton School for Girls she returned to Smith and earned her master’s degree in history in 1938.
After her marriage in 1940 she lived outside Chicago, moved to Barrington, R.I. in 1953 and then to Newport in 1976. She was active in many political, civic and charitable causes, especially the League of Women Voters. After the death of her husband she moved to Brookhaven-at-Lexington.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by four children, Signe of Bedford, Karl of Barrington, R.I., John of Riverside, R.I. and Bob Anderson Jr. of Newtown, Pa. and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 25 Great Road, Bedford on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Douglass Funeral Home, Lexington.
