Roger C. Tenney Jr., 77, formerly of Arlington
BREWSTER — Roger C. Tenney Jr., 77, died Oct. 17, 2001, at the Sweetwater Forest Campground in Brewster following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Erica Anne (VanSchyndel) Tenney.
He was born in Arlington on Nov. 28, 1923, the son of the late Roger C. Tenney Sr. and Mary (Craig) Tenney. He resided on Cape Cod for the past 15 years, having lived in Brewster and Hyannis. Prior to moving to Cape Cod, he resided in New Jersey and at one time lived and worked in Europe.
He was a 1941 graduate of Arlington High School and attended Northeastern University and later transferred to Tufts University where he earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Tufts School of Engineering in 1944. While at Tufts, he was a member of the university’s ROTC program. He later attended Annapolis achieving the rank of ensign. He played football at Arlington High, Northeastern, and Tufts Universities and was featured in numerous Boston Globe articles highlighting his athletic abilities.
Mr. Tenney was a veteran of the United States Navy having served from December 1942 to August of 1945 during World War II, and later served in the Naval Reserves achieving the rank of lieutenant.
Mr. Tenney was employed by various divisions of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 42 years and served the company in a number of capacities including regional manager for New England and Canada and was the marketing director for the company in Belgium for seven years.
He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. Two years ago, Mr. Tenney and his wife purchased a recreational vehicle and traveled throughout the United States fulfilling their longtime goal of living the " RV life " full time.
In addition to his wife of 10 years, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Tenney of San Diego, Calif., and Chris Pisarchuk of Eastham; two daughters, Sandra Wheaton of Salinas, Calif., and Cynthia Tenney of Monterey, Calif.; a brother, Richard Tenney of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Janet Tenney of Arlington; five grandchildren; a nephew and two nieces. He as also the brother of the late Marsha Tenney.
A private funeral service will be held followed by interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Victor M. Roberto, 74, lifelong resident of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Victor M. " Vic " Roberto, 74, a lifelong resident of Arlington, died Oct. 22, 2001, at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was the husband of Josephine (Vellucci) Roberto.
He was born in Arlington on Feb. 24, 1927.
Mr. Roberto was employed as the assistant director of the Department of Public Works in Arlington. He was a town employee for 52 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Victoria A. Cooper and her husband Paul of Arlington and Diane Roberto of Woburn; a brother, Soccorso " Sam " Roberto of Winchester; two sisters, Jennie Marolda and Mary LaPuma, both of Arlington; and three grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Carmela Loungo, Genevieve Roberto, Samuel Roberto, Joseph Roberto, Anthony Roberto, who died Oct. 18, and Milio Roberto, who died Oct. 19.
A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, from the Cota-Struzziero-McKenna Funeral Home, 197 Washington St., Somerville, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, 30 Medford, St., Arlington. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

Milio N. Roberto, 78, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Milio N. " Bill " Roberto, 78, of Arlington, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge after a brief illness. He was the husband of Vincenza M. " Vinnie " (Fagone) Roberto.
Born in Arlington, he was the son of the late Michael and Rosina (Aurillo) Roberto. He was the owner of Roberto’s Gulf Service Station in Arlington for 25 years, retiring in 1977. During that time, he won many service station awards for outstanding service and multiple awards for Service Station of the Year.
Mr. Roberto was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and appeared on one of the 16 commemorative U.S. postal stamps for the armed forces dedicated to fighting men in peace and war during World War II. He enjoyed gardening and music, especially playing the piano and accordion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael A. Roberto and Kevin J. Roberto, both of Arlington; a daughter, Linda-Jo Dickerson and her husband Joel Dickerson of Watertown; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Jennie Marolda and Mary LaPuma, both of Arlington; a brother, Victor Roberto of Arlington; a sister-in-law, Josephine M. Osborne of Revere; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Carmela Luongo and three brothers, Samuel, Joseph and Anthony Roberto Sr.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 23, in St. Agnes Church, Arlington with the Rev. William R. Carroll officiating. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford.
Anthony J. Roberto Sr., formerly of Arlington
LEXINGTON — Anthony J. Roberto Sr., died Oct. 18, 2001, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was the husband of the late Virginia L. (Kelley) Roberto.
He was born in Arlington, the son of the late Michael and Rosina (Aurilio) Roberto.
Mr. Roberto was employed for many years as a mechanic in the construction industry at many locations in greater Boston and lived in Arlington for over 50 years and in Lexington for four years.
He is survived by a son, Anthony Roberto Jr. and his wife Maureen of Marlborough; two daughters, Rose Ann Hamed and her husband Joseph of Wallingford, Conn., and Georgianna Zagarella and her husband John of Medford; three brothers, Samuel Roberto of Winchester, Milio Roberto of Arlington, and Victor Roberto of Arlington; two sisters, Jennie Marolda of Arlington and Mary LaPuma of Arlington; two grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Donna O’Leary, the brother of the late Carmela Luongo, Samuel Roberto and Joseph Roberto.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 22, in St. Agnes Church in Arlington. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Acton.
Arrangements were under the care of the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford.
Carole Perkins, 62, formerly of Arlington
HARVARD — Carole (MacDougal) (Chaplin) Perkins, 62, died Oct. 19, 2001, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Bruce Perkins, whom she married in 1992.
She was born in Ithica, N.Y., on June 29, 1939, the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Huber) MacDougal. She grew up in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Arlington. Mrs. Perkins was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1957. She also graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1959, earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1992, and a master’s degree in community psychology in 1999, from UMass Lowell.
Mrs. Perkins taught English as a Second Language in the Littleton school system for many years.
She attended the Baptist Church in Littleton, where she was a youth group leader and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Littleton Baptist Church Couples Club, the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts, the New Day Groton Development Stages, and the Summer Festival American Conference at Ocean Park, Maine. She also worked with many women’s shelters and wrote her thesis about the Portuguese elders of Lowell.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; Heath MacDougal Chaplin of North Chelmsford and Beth Huber Chaplin of Rochester, N.H.; a brother, Richard T. MacDougal of Mendon; and two sisters, Jean M. Hutchinson of Rochester, N.H., and Kathleen M. Simpson of Westford.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the West Acton Baptist Church, 529 Massachusetts Ave., Acton. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 25, at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Elizabethtown, N.Y., on Saturday.

Jennie S. Ortolano, 94, formerly of Arlington
LITTLETON — Jennie S. (Alessi) Ortolano, 94, of Littleton, formerly of Arlington, died Oct. 19, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton. She was the wife of the late Joseph C. Ortolano.
Mrs. Ortolano was a communicant of St. Brigid’s Church in Lexington.
She is survived by three sons, Angelo J. Ortolano of Chelmsford, Dominic J. Ortolano and his wife Kathryn M. of Brewer, Maine, and Joseph A. Ortolano and his wife Ninfa S. of Lexington; two daughters, C. Jean Coates of Lexington and Sally E. Christle and her husband Henry G. of Littleton; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Angelina Cappuccio and Mary Fiorenza; and the mother-in-law of the late Mary Ortolano and Norman Coates.
A funeral was held Oct. 23, from the Douglass Funeral Home in Lexington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brigid’s Church. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

Gloria S. Lanzillo, 50, leaves family in Arlington
BEDFORD — Gloria Stephanie Lanzillo, 50, of Bedford, formerly of Everett, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at the Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the wife of Thomas Michael Lanzillo.
Born in Everett Aug. 17, 1951, she was the daughter of Stephen A. DiDonato of Chelmsford and the late Rose L. (Pasquariello) DiDonato,
Mrs. Lanzillo was a graduate of Everett High School, class of 1969, and graduated, cum laude from Framingham State College in 1973 with a bachelor’s of science degree in education. She received her master’s degree in education from Suffolk University in 1980. In the early 1980s, she took courses and became a skilled technical writer and certified electronics technician.
Mrs. Lanzillo was employed in the Everett public schools for 16 years. She taught primary grades and mathematics at the Hamilton and Centre schools. She was a member of St. Michael’s Parish in Bedford and program coordinator of the Association to Overcome Multiple Sclerosis (ATOMS), Mystic Valley, a self-help support group, part of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Besides her husband and father, she is survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Helen (Collins) Lanzillo of Arlington; two brothers-in-law, John Lanzillo of North Hampton and Leo Lanzillo and his wife, Lisa; and her nephews, Joseph, William and Anthony Lanzillo, all of Chicago, Ill.
The funeral was held from the Bedford Funeral Home, on Tuesday, Oct. 23, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael’s Church in Bedford. Interment was in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.

Katherine Kelleher, 87, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Katherine Kelleher, 87, of Arlington, formerly a longtime resident of Somerville, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at McFadden Nursing Home in Malden. She was the wife of the late Thomas F. Kelleher.
Born in Somerville May 22, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Agnes (Reynolds) Quinn. A homemaker, she lived in Arlington for 39 years.
Mrs. Kelleher is survived by two sons, Thomas F. Kelleher Jr. of Winchester and Richard Kelleher of Arlington; four daughters, Nancy McCallum of Cambridge, Rita Swadel of Medford, Mary Mooney of Burlington, and Kathleen Pacheco of Malden; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Immaculate Conception Church in Winchester. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

Sidney C. Hann, 48, leaves family in Arlington
BILLERICA — Sidney C. Hann, 48, a lifelong Billerica resident, died unexpectedly Oct. 18, 2001, at his home.
He was born in Billerica, the son of Dorothy A. (Martell) Hann of Billerica and the late Eric C. Hann.
Mr. Hann had been employed as a carpenter in the crating division of Horne Packaging in Billerica for two years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by four sisters, Diane Ward of Wilmington, Beverly Wilson of Michigan, Erica Gray of Dracut, and Darleen Hann of Arlington; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Oct. 23, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home in Billerica.
Frances Haas, 81, leaves family in Arlington
CHELMSFORD — Frances Haas, 81, died Oct. 15, 2001, at the Westford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westford. She was the wife of Chauncey Haas, who died in 1987.
She was born in Lexington on Sept. 23, 1920, the daughter of the late Augustus J. and Lillian (Sears) Silva, and was educated in Lexington schools.
During World War II, Mrs. Haas was employed as a manufacturer of war plane instruments.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford.
Mrs. Haas was a member of the Chelmsford Senior Citizens and worked in the organization’s Respite Care program. She was also a member of the Emblem Club in Chelmsford.
She is survived by three sons, Robert C. Haas and his wife Mary Lou of Windham, N.H., Michael J. Haas and his wife Terri Lynne of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, and James D. Haas and his wife Paula of Hooksett, N.H.; two brothers, Richard Silva of Utah and Edward Silva and his wife Lorraine of Arlington; a sister, Barbara (Cope) Baril of Methuen; a sister-in-law, Barbara Silva of Waltham; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was also the sister of the late John Silva and Lillian Silva.
A funeral was held Oct. 18, from the Blake Funeral Home in Chelmsford, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church. Interment was in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
