Dorothy S. Fiske, 91, of Wilmington
WILMINGTON — Dorothy S. Fiske, 91, a longtime Wilmington resident, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001. She was the wife of the late Edwin L. Fiske.
She was born in Scott’s Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, on July 1, 1910.
Mrs. Fiske was an active member of the Skating Club of Wilmington and the winner of the Fastest married Novice Skater of Wilmington Award in 1960.
She was employed for many years at the F.W. Woolworth Department Store in Reading.
She is survived by a son, William L. Fiske of Kensington, N.H.; two daughters, Ann Fiske Whitney of Wilmington, and Patricia J. Breslin of Lincoln, N.H.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Oct. 31, from the Nichols Funeral Home.
Glen Gauthier, 43, of Tewksbury
TEWKSBURY — Glen Gauthier, 43, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell after a lengthy illness. He had been a resident at Tewksbury Hospital for the last two years.
He was born in Lynn on April 5, 1958, the son of Roland Gauthier of Danville, N.H., with whom he resided, and the late Sandra (Doran) Gauthier.
Mr. Gauthier lived the greater part of his life in Lynn, and the last few years in Danville and Tewksbury.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his stepmother, Diane (Carrozza) Gauthier of Danville, N.H.; a brother, Scott Gauthier of Bridgewater; a sister, Jane Geary of Lynn; and a niece. He was also the brother of the late Alan Gauthier.
A funeral was held Oct. 30, from the Tewksbury Funeral Home, followed by a funeral mass in St. William’s Church. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.

Mabel E. McLucas, 98, of Tewksbury
TEWKSBURY — Mabel E. (Hall) McLucas, 98, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Wilmington. She was the wife of the late George McLucas, who died in 1995.
She was born in Boston on May 4, 1903, the daughter of the late George and Maude (Stead) Hall, and was raised in Lynn.
Mrs. McLucas was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Lowell.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral was held Oct. 24, from the Tewksbury Funeral Home, followed by cremation. Interment was Oct. 26, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Alfred J. Tanguay, 76, leaves family in Tewksbury
LOWELL — Alfred J. Tanguay, 76, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at the Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center in Nashua, N.H.
He was born in Lowell on Oct. 24, 1924, the son of the late Joseph I. and Laura (Ryan) Tanguay.
An honorably discharged veteran, he was a member of the Merchant Marines.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Tanguay was employed as a carpenter at Dabco Construction in Lowell for many years.
Mr. Tanguay was a member of the SAC Club in Lowell.
He is survived by a son, Paul Tanguay and his wife Jean of Haverhill; a daughter, Suzanne Cormier and her husband Roland of Hudson, N.H.; three stepchildren, Bea Lessard of Hudson, N.H., Roger Tanguay and his wife Beth of Lowell, and Patty Herlihy and her husband Jim of Tewksbury; three brothers, Arthur, Paul and Gerard Tanguay, all of Lowell; two sisters, Blanche Bordeleau of Lowell, and Jeannette Lavoie of Dracut; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother Rita Moreau, Laura Fiorello, Leo and Raymond Tanguay.
A funeral was held Oct. 29, from the Dracut Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary Magdalen Church. Interment was in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery, Tyngsboro.
Kathleen M. Blake, 62, of Chelmsford
CHELMSFORD — Kathleen M. Blake, 62, died Oct. 23, 2001, at Lowell General Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Richard B. Blake.
She was born in Cambridge on Jan. 18, 1939, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Malloy) Lopez.
Mrs. Blake was employed as a medical secretary at Lowell General Hospital for 12 years.
She lived n Chelmsford for 22 years, and was a member of the Chelmsford Garden Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Dr. Brian C. Blake of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and Brad R. Blake of Hudson, N.H.; a daughter, Cynthia Marie Edwards of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Eugene Miller of North Hampton, and Russell Miller of Contoocook, N.H.; three sisters, Nancy A. Dakin of Harvard, Geraldine A. Blake of Billerica, and Paul M. Brady of Canal Fulton, Ohio; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Robert Russell " Rusty " Edwards and Allison F. Edwards.
A funeral was held Oct. 27, from the Burns Funeral Home in Billerica, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Theresa’s Church. Interment was in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.

Donald S. Hansen, 66, of Bedford
Donald S. Hansen, 66, of Bedford, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at his home. He was the husband of Lorraine M. (Gibbings) Hansen.
Born in Union City, N.J. Jan. 20, 1935, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Kulagowski) Hansen. He was a 1953 graduate of Bogota High School in New Jersey and a 1955 graduate of Newark College of Engineering. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Illinois in 1964.
A retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, he served from 1958 to 1978. In 1974 he received the Meritorious Service Medal.
Prior to retirement he was employed as a mechanical engineer for Raytheon, where he worked from 1978 to 1998. He was a member of St. Michael’s Parish in Bedford.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hansen is survived by a son, Christian M. Hansen of Boston; three daughters, Deborah A. and Susan A. Hansen, both of Bedford and Catherine A. Hansen Oram of Westford; a brother, William Hansen Jr. of River Edge, N.J. and three grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 29 at St. Michael’s Church

Carolyn MacLeish, 83, of Belmont
Carolyn (de Chadenedes) MacLeish, 83, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Belmont Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of Kenneth MacLeish, who died in 1977.
Born in Flushing, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Jean Francois and Agnes de Chadenedes. She lived in the Annapolis, Md. area for 30 years and later in Cooperstown, N.Y. before moving to Belmont two years ago.
Mrs. MacLeish was a guide for Historic Annapolis for many years and had a continuing interest in the Paca House Gardens. She was also an active supporter of the Key School in Annapolis. She was a member of Christ Church in West River, Md., supporting the church as a member of the vestry and the choir and as a chalicist and lector.
She is survived by two daughters, Martha MacLeish Fuller of Somerville and Ellen MacLeish Zale of Conway, Mass.; two sons, A. Bruce MacLeish of Newport, R.I. and Kenneth I. MacLeish of Duluth, Ga; and nine grandchildren. She was the sister of Eleanor de Chadenedes of Newton and G. Boyce de Chadenedes of Colorado Springs. She was also predeceased by a brother, Francois de Chadenedes.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 1, at the Brown and Sons Funeral Home, Trapelo Road, Belmont. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Christ Episcopal Church in West River.

Margaret A. Rhynd, 86, of Winchester
Margaret A. Rhynd, 86, of Winchester, formerly a longtime resident of Belmont, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001.
Born in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Jennie (Hogan) Rhynd. She was a former secretary for the Belmont Light Department.
The funeral will be held from the Brown & Sons Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Road, Belmont, Friday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 401 Belmont St., Belmont at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Brown & Sons Funeral Home, Belmont.
Ronald A. Nigro, 66, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Ronald A. Nigro, 66, of Arlington, died suddenly Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001. He was the husband of Iris F. (Campbell) Nigro.
Born in Arlington, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Vitiello) Nigro. He was educated in the Arlington public schools and was an Arlington High School Hall of Fame member. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Boston University in 1956 and graduated from Portia Law School, now known as New England School of Law in 1958.
He was treasurer of the Dudley Fuel Co. Inc. of Arlington from 1962 to 1996. He was also a substitute teacher at Arlington High School.
Mr. Nigro was a selectman from 1972 to 1973 and a Town Meeting member since 1965, representing five different precincts in the town of Arlington. He was a Town Manager appointee as Trust Fund Commissioner, founder and director of the Arlington High School Alumni Association and founder and director of the Samuel J. Nigro Scholarship Trust. An Army veteran, he was a member of the Arlington Sons of Italy and the Touchdown Club of Arlington.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rosemary "Romi" Nigro and Timo Shanko of Jamaica Plain; a son, Ronald A. Nigro Jr. of Arlington; a sister, June Nigro Farrell of Arlington; a brother, Samuel Nigro Jr. and his wife, Eileen, Nigro of Arlington and many nieces and nephews. He was brother-in-law of Alton Zink and his wife, Susan, of Wakefield, David A. Zink and his wife, Nancy, of Pepperell and Geri Smith of Wisconsin.
The funeral was held from the DeVito-O'Donnell Funeral Home, Arlington Heights, Monday, Feb. 19 with a funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Margaret T. Higgins
HYANNIS — Margaret T. " Peg " Higgins, 74, formerly of Concord, died June 26, 2001, at Cranberry Pointe Nursing Home in Harwich.
She was born in West Concord on Feb. 17, 1927, the daughter of the late John G. and Frances F. (Waterman) Higgins. She attended Concord Public Schools, graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Waltham, where she served as class president, and later from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in Boston.
From 1948 until 1951, she was employed as a registered nurse at Mass. General Hospital, Cape Cod Hospital and the Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary.
From 1951 until 1973, Miss Higgins served as a registered nurse in the United States Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Throughout her Air Force career, she was stationed at bases around the country including Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, and at bases in California, South Carolina and Delaware. She was also stationed overseas in Germany, Pakistan and Korea. She was the recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal.
Miss Higgins was a member of the Retired Officers Association.
A resident of Hyannis since 1975, she was a former volunteer at the Cape Cod Hospital.
Survivors include a niece, Patricia Manley and her husband Charles of Bellingham, Wash.; a nephew, Mark Higgins and his wife Maribeth of Maynard; grandniece, Rachael Manley of Bellingham; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Higgins of Concord. She was also the sister of the late Barry Higgins of Concord.
A funeral was held June 30, from the Joseph Dee & Son Funeral Home in Concord, followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, West Concord. Celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. John Murray. Interment services with military honors followed at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord, where Father Murphy read the committal prayers.
Concord’s town flag flew at half-staff on Saturday in honor of Miss Higgins service to her country in the U.S. Air Force.
