Adeline D. Maddaloni, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Adeline D. Maddaloni, formerly of Longmeadow, died June 10, 2001, at her home following a brief illness.
She was born in Rochester, Vt., the daughter of the late Pasquale and Marianna (Federico) DeSantis. Mrs. Maddaloni had been a resident of Arlington for five years.
Mrs. Maddaloni is survived by a son, Michael P. Maddaloni of Waltham and his fiancée, Tracy J. Osero, of Newton; a daughter, Maria E. Maddaloni of Arlington; three brothers, Mariano DeSantis of Rochester, Vt., Dominic S. DeSantis of Jamesville, N.Y., and Pasquale " Pat " DeSantis of Rochester, Vt.; two sisters, Carmela A. DeSantis of Ware,and Ann C. DeSantis of Arlington; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 13, in St. Jerome’s Church in Arlington. Interment was June 14, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Rochester, Vt.

Edward L. McHugh, 71, formerly of Arlington
WOBURN — Edward L. McHugh, 71, died June 4, 2001, at his home. He was the husband of Diane F. (Casey) McHugh.
He was born in Arlington, the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Arnold) McHugh. Mr. McHugh lived in Woburn for the last 42 years. He formerly lived in Arlington and Belmont.
Mr. McHugh was employed as a produce manager for the First National Stores for 44 years before he retired.
He had a great interest in antique automobiles. He owned many cars over the years and enjoyed working on them and displaying them at car shows.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Edward McHugh of Washington, Albert McHugh of Burlington, and Robert McHugh of Woburn; a daughter, Lynne Rice of Woburn; two sisters, Louise Swanton of Waltham and Anne Sylvester of Dedham; and two grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Ruth Babineau.
A funeral was held June 8, from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home in Woburn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Anthony Church. Interment was in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Mary J. O’Connor, 87, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Mary J. (Beasley) O’Connor, 87, died June 3, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Concord. She was the wife of the late James J. O’Connor.
She was born in Arlington on Nov. 13, 1913, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (McClintock) Beasley.
She is survived by a son, James J. O’Connor and his wife, Joan, of Worcester; two daughters, Mary L. Eliades and her husband, George, of Lowell and Janet O’Connor and her husband, John Horvath, of Acton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joseph Beasley and Phillip Beasley.
A funeral was held June 7, from the Keefe Funeral Home in Arlington, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church.
Anthony Paiva, 80, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Anthony Paiva, 80, of Arlington, died Thursday, June 7, 2001 at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Mary Teresa (Southwell) Paiva.
He was born in East Cambridge and prior to retirement was employed as a bus driver for the MBTA for 38 years. He was a member of Local 589.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Wendy Jacobs and her husband, Larry, of Pennsylvania and Lisa Dell’Anno and her husband, Daniel, of Winthrop and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9 at the DeVito-O’Donnell Funeral Home, Arlington Heights. Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

George G. Boiko, 70, formerly of Burlington
George G. Boiko, 70, of Winnisquam, N.H., formerly of Medford and Burlington, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at his home. He was the husband of Patricia (Flynn) Boiko.
Born in Medford April 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Gregory C. and Antoinette A. (Kanopka) Boiko. He was a graduate of the Medford public schools and Wentworth Technical Institute. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict in the 1950s. He then went to work for Prospect Tool and Die of Woburn where he worked his way up until he became sole owner and president of the company in 1980. He moved to Burlington in 1963 and then to Lake Winnisquam in 1988 where he pursued his love of water skiing and boating.
Mr. Boiko was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree, Burlington Council and past member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He also served as president of the Winnisquam Water Ski Association.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gregory W. Boiko of Derry, N.H., Gary J. Boiko of Chelmsford and James B. Boiko of N. Andover; a daughter, Pamela J. Sweeney of Bradford; a brother, William Boiko of Austin, Texas and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9 from the Lane Funeral Home, Winchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church in Burlington. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Marilyn Pohl, 73, formerly of Burlington
Marilyn (Yeadon) Pohl, 73, formerly of Burlington, died June 4, 2001, at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, N.H. She was the wife of the late Robert R. Pohl, who died in 1987.
She was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys Yeadon. Mrs. Pohl was raised in Lynn and Swampscott. Following high school she attended Burdett College. She moved to Burlington 44 years ago.
Mrs. Pohl was an active member of St. Mark’s Church and was a frequent visitor to the public library.
She is survived by two daughters, Robin Boutin of West Ossipee, N.H., and Susan Pohl of Whitinsville; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service was held June 7, in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Burlington. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.

Patrick F. Mahoney, of Tewksbury
TEWKSBURY - Patrick F. Mahoney, 20, died unexpectedly ON Saturday, June 23, 2001, in Raymond, N.H.
He was born in Boston, Feb. 23, 1981, the son of Arthur F. Mahoney Jr. of Tewksbury, and the late Kathleen T. (McDonald) Mahoney. He was raised in Billerica and attended the Shawsheen Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School in Billerica.
He was a resident of Raymond for less than a year and was employed as a limousine driver for a Manchester N.H. airport shuttle service.
Besides his father he is survived by a son, Evan J. Mahoney-Gilpatrick; a sister, Michelle A. Mahoney of Chelmsford; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, June 27, in St. Theresa's Church in Billerica, followed by interment in Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Memorials to the local DARE Chapter in the donor's community will be appreciated.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tewksbury Funeral Home.
Francis B. Sheehan, 78, leaves family in Reading
TEWKSBURY — Francis B. " Shine " Sheehan, 78, died June 21, 2001, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell. He was the husband of the late Dorothy L. " Dottie " (Brothers) Sheehan.
He was born in Manchester, New Hamp., on Nov. 22, 1922, the son of the late Peter I. and Bridget (Barry) Sheehan. He attended Tewksbury schools and continued his education at the University of Maryland, receiving a bachelors degree in business administration, and also attended Boston University where he earned his masters degree in guidance and counseling.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and participated in the assault and capture of Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands.
Prior to his retirement in 1985, Mr. Sheehan was employed by the Tewksbury School Department for 30 years. He was a guidance director at Tewksbury Memorial High School for 22 years, and also served as the former director of the Tewksbury Night School program.
He is survived by two sons, Peter J. Sheehan of Tewksbury, and Barry Sheehan and his wife Linda (Joyce) of Reading; three daughters, Donna M. Ritchie and her husband William of Tewksbury, Maryanne S. Grondin and her husband Michael of Plaistow, N.H., and Sally A. Sheehan of Mansfield; three sisters, Mary Canavan of Newton Square, Pa., Catherine Berube and her husband Donald of Tewksbury, and Anne DeCarolis and her husband Mario of Londonderry, N.H.; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held June 25, from the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home in Tewksbury, followed by a funeral Mass in St. William’s Church. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.

Francis L. Brown, 85, of Tewksbury
TEWKSBURY - Francis L. " Tad " Brown, 85, Tewksbury historian, died Saturday, June 30, at the Tewksbury Hospital. He was the husband of Mary E. (McKinley) Brown, who died in 1990.
Born in Lowell, June 2, 1916, he was the son of the late John T. Brown and Mary Jane (Callahan) Brown. He had been a lifelong town resident. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Germany. Upon discharge from the Armed forces, he began a 50-year career with the town of Tewksbury’s Highway Department retiring as highway foreman.
He was active in the organization of many fraternal groups in Tewksbury, but was especially proud to have co-founded the Tewksbury VFW Post 8164, and had the honor of being elected as the first commander. He was also active in the formation of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge 2070, and remained a charter member.
As his children grew, Mr. Brown’s passion turned toward the town of Tewksbury’s history. He served in official capacity as the town historian, and was a member of the Tewksbury Historical Society. For many who knew him, his accounts of ancient to modern incidents within the town were always a fascinating moment, as the past came alive through his acute memory and ability to convey a story in a spellbinding manner.
In honor of his military and town service, the town named a square at the corner of Pleasant Street and Whipple Road the " Tad " Brown Square. He served as the Grand Marshall for many Memorial and Veteran’s Day parades.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jean and James E. Nolan of Tewksbury; a sister-in-law, Ann McKinley of Chelmsford; a brother-in-law, Alexander Wilson of Methuen; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was also father of the late Julie Frances Brown who died in 1995.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 6 from the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of Dewey and Main streets (Rte 38), Tewksbury center with a funeral Mass Friday at 11:30 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Visiting hours are today, July 5, 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.

Charles J. DeStefano
WINCHESTER — Charles J. DeStefano, 80, of Winchester, died Oct. 7, 2001, at Winchester Hospital. He was the husband of Virginia (Stull) DeStefano.
He was born in Boston. Mr. DeStefano graduated from Medford High School and attended Bentley College.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. DeStefano retired from Eagle Electric Supply Co. in Boston as a salesman of electrical supplies, after 41 years of service.
He was a member of the Sons of Italy Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles I. DeStefano of Wilmington, and Wayne E. DeStefano of Pepperell; a daughter, Donna V. DeStefano of Lakeland, Fla.; a stepson, Earl Strange of Everett; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 10, at St. Mary’s Church in Winchester. Interment was in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
Arrangements were under the care of the Lane Funeral Home, Winchester.
