Sister Lorraine Lavoie
Sister Lorraine Lavoie, SGM, 82, died May 27, 2001, at Youville Place in Lexington.
She was born in Lowell, where she was baptized and educated.
Sister Lorraine entered the Sisters of Charity of Montreal Grey Nuns in Cambridge, where she received her religious formation and pronounced her vows as a Grey Nun on Aug. 15, 1943.
As a Grey Nun and nurse, Sister Lorraine cared for the sick at Youville Hospital in Cambridge, St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., The Protectory of Mary Immaculate in Lawrence and the Grey Nuns Infirmary in Lexington. She was religious superior for the Grey Nuns and the receptionist at the Grey Nuns Provincial House in Lexington.
She is survived by a brother, Robert Lavoie of Hyannis; a niece; and six nephews.
A Mass was celebrated on May 31 in the Chapel at Youville Place. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Gloria Cady
Gloria E. (King) Cady died at home on Friday, June 1 2001. She was the wife of Robert Cady, to whom she was married for 54 years.
A lifelong resident of Lexington and graduate of Lexington High School Class of 1946, Mrs. Cady was a longtime employee of Sears Roebuck in Burlington.
She was affiliated with Hancock United Church of Christ of Lexington and was a summer resident of Sunset Lake in Hampstead, N.H., for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Nancy Hadley and her husband Alan of Lexington, and Janice Linehan and her husband Brian of Lexington; six grandchildren David Hadley, Tammy McNamara and Derek, Matthew and Marisa Beecy and Stacey Linehan; two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Visiting hours are Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road. The funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Hancock United Church of Christ, 1912 Mass. Ave. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

Elsie R. Demone
Elsie R. (Timlick) Demone, 96, of Lexington, formerly of Somerville, died at the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood Sunday, June 3, 2001. She was the wife of the late Harold (Harry) W. Demone who died in 1976.
Born in Arnaud, Manitoba, Canada March 6, 1905, she graduated from Winnipeg Manitoba High School and worked as a dental assistant until she moved to the United States with her husband in 1924. She also lived in Cambridge and Lincoln.
During her husband's career as a builder of small homes, she was his designer/architect, interior decorator, banker, payroll clerk and bookkeeper. Her hobbies included competitive bridge, knitting and baking. She also enjoyed the Boston Bruins, the Red Sox and the Celtics, a hobby she shared with her sons.
She is survived by two sons, Robert G. Demone of Lexington with whom she lived and Harold W. Demone Jr., and his wife Marguerite F. Demone of Falmouth; a granddaughter; 17 nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, Manitoba, Canada and California and more than 30 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A memorial service and buffet reception will be held Monday, June 11 at 1 p.m. at the Hartwell House Restaurant, 94 Hartwell Ave. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Charlotte E. Dearborn
Charlotte E. Dearborn, 83, of Acton, formerly of Londonderry, New Hamp. and Stoneham, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Ernest L. Dearborn.
Born Dec. 24, 1917 in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Edith L. (Brown) Eldridge. She was a graduate of Somerville High School and Burdett College in Boston. Prior to retirement she was employed as a secretary.
Mrs. Dearborn is survived by two daughters, Andrea F. Cooper of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Judith M. Reilly of Acton; a brother, Albert C. Eldridge of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 30 in the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, Stoneham, with the Rev. Dirkje Legerstee of the First Congregational Church officiating. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
Florence Adams
Florence Pearl Adams, 89, of Dover, N.H., formerly of Stoneham, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Charles M. Adams.
Born in Revere, she was raised in Stoneham and lived there most of her life until moving to Dover 25 years ago. She was a 1929 graduate of Stoneham High School. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Besides her husband of 68 years, she is survived by two sons, Charles M. Adams Jr. of Wakefield and William E. Adams of Pittsburg, New Hamp. and Stoneham; two daughters, Marcia A. Llewellyn of Marstons Mills and Michele Pariseau Forviere of Dover, New Hamp.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick's Church, Stoneham Saturday, June 2, followed by burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home of Stoneham.
Lois M. Gillis
Lois M. (Keating) Gillis, 86, of Stoneham, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was the wife of the late Woodrow Gillis.
Born May 11, 1915 in Stoneham, she was the daughter of the late Owen V. and Florence (Cherry) Keating. A lifelong resident, she was a graduate of Stoneham High School and a homemaker.
Mrs. Gillis is survived by a sister, Marion Rooney of Florida; a niece, Lois Torri and her husband Robert, of Stoneham; three nephews, Ronald Walton of West Palm Beach, Fla., David Riddell and his wife Donna of Stoneham and Paul Riddell of Wakefield. She was mother of the late Alan Gillis and his wife June and sister of the late Owen Keating Jr. and Florence Riddell.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at the A.E. Finnegan and Son Home for Funerals, 322 Main St., Stoneham. Interment was in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
Michael J. Hurley
Michael J. Hurley, 62, of Stoneham, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born in New York, he was the son of the late John A. and Mary (Frawley) Hurley. He was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare as a printer, for the past 35 years. He was very active with the Elks organization and was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Stoneham Elks. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Mrs. Hurley is survived by a sister, Veronica Hurley of Stoneham; a brother, John A. Hurley of Whitman, four nephews and one niece.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick's Church, Stoneham Tuesday, June 5. Interment followed in Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.

Melvin L. Nelson
Melvin L. Nelson Sr. of Goldsboro, N.C., formerly of Stoneham, died Friday, June 1, 2001. He was the husband of Mary (Lamb) Nelson and the late Gloria L. (Generazzo) Goldsboro.
Mr. Nelson was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of the Korean conflict and prior to retirement was employed by AVCO.
He is survived by two daughters, Dianne L. DiBella of Chelsea, and Laura J. Gilson and her husband Frank of Stoneham; two sons, Thomas M. Nelson and his wife Joanne of Salem, New Hamp., and Melvin L. Nelson Jr. and his wife Heidi of Londonderry, New Hamp.; three grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Morris and brother, Larry Nelson, all of No. Carolina and many nieces and nephews in Mass. and No. Carolina.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 6 at the A.E. Finnegan & Son Home for Funerals, Stoneham.

William R. Jackson Sr.
William R. Jackson Sr., 66, a lifelong resident of Stoneham, died Friday, June 1, 2001. He was the husband of Jean E. (Lundblad) Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was a 1952 graduate of Stoneham High School and employed as a carpenter with H.E. Jackson Carpenters. He was a founder and past president of Stoneham Youth Hockey.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Kathleen E. Sweeney of Stoneham, Cynthia J. Back and her husband Peter of Pepperell, Robert A. Jackson and his wife Sarah of Stoneham, Edward I. Jackson and his wife Jean of Derry, New Hamp., William R. Jackson Jr. and his wife Michelle and Donald Jackson and his wife Lorraine, all of Stoneham; six sisters, Julie Dangora of Wakefield, Pauly McKennon of Stoneham, Ethel Pimentel of Chelmsford, Ella Fronc of Atkinson, New Hamp., Marion Jackson of Lowell and Ruth Arsenault of Alton, New Hamp.; a brother, Herbert Jackson of Alton, New Hamp.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Harold Jackson, formerly of Stoneham.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 5 at the First Congregational Church, Stoneham. Interment was in Lindenwood Cemetery.

Eleanor Riccardi, 74, leaves family in Chelmsford
Eleanor Riccardi, 74, a 44-year resident of Arlington, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Sylvester J. Riccardi.
Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Amelia (Cecconi) and Louis Pacini. She spoke often at the Stigmatine Fathers Retreat House, and was a former rector working closely with the spiritual director to coordinate espousal retreats and spoke on marriage.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Riccardi is survived by two sons, John P. and David W. Riccardi, both of Arlington; two grandchildren; a sister, Elisa Ercolini of Chelmsford and a brother, Louis Pacini of Canada.
A funeral Mass was held Monday, June 11 in St. Agnes Church, Arlington with the Rev. Brian M. Flatley officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
George G. Boiko, 70, leaves family in Chelmsford
George G. Boiko, 70, of Winnisquam, N.H., formerly of Medford and Burlington, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at his home. He was the husband of Patricia (Flynn) Boiko.
Born in Medford April 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Gregory C. and Antoinette A. (Kanopka) Boiko. He was a graduate of the Medford public schools and Wentworth Technical Institute. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict in the 1950s. He then went to work for Prospect Tool and Die of Woburn where he worked his way up until he became sole owner and president of the company in 1980. He moved to Burlington in 1963 and then to Lake Winnisquam in 1988 where he pursued his love of water skiing and boating.
Mr. Boiko was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree, Burlington Council and past member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He also served as president of the Winnisquam Water Ski Association.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gregory W. Boiko of Derry, N.H., Gary J. Boiko of Chelmsford and James B. Boiko of N. Andover; a daughter, Pamela J. Sweeney of Bradford; a brother, William Boiko of Austin, Texas and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9 from the Lane Funeral Home, Winchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church in Burlington. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
