Dale A. Bloedow, 44, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Dale A. "Butch" Bloedow Jr., 44, of Arlington, died suddenly Saturday, June 2, 2001 at his home. He was the son of Dale A. Bloedow Sr. and Phyllis M.(Callaghan) Bloedow of Arlington.
Born in Cambridge, he was a lifelong Arlington resident. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1974 and attended Newman Prep School and Mass Bay Community College. He was employed as a medical secretary at MIT. He was a former member of the Winter Hill Yacht Club.
Besides his parents, Mr. Bloedow is survived by two brothers, Robert E. Bloedow of Haverhill and Karl A. Bloedow of Arlington; a sister, Barbara M. Bloedow of Arlington; and his grandmother, Laura C. Felker of Oshkosh, Wisc.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, June 7 at St. Jerome's Church in Arlington. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Keefe Funeral Home, Arlington.
Theresa Brennan, 80, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Theresa Brennan, 80, of Arlington, died Monday, June 4, 2001 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
Born in Bangor, Maine, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Theresa (Hogan) Finnegan. A longtime Arlington resident, she was employed as a supervisor for Liberty Mutual. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters.
Mrs. Brennan is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph C. and Edward F. Finnegan and a sister Mary E. Finnegan.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 8, at noon at St. Jerome's Church in Arlington. Interment will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor, Maine. Visiting hours will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Philip A. Haight, 85, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, June 1, 2001, for Philip A. Haight, 85, in the Church of St. Jerome followed by interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. He was the husband of Helen T. (Leddy) Haight.
Born in Oakley, Idaho, he was a longtime resident of Arlington. Before his retirement he was a supervisor of the Massachusetts Department of Education. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife, Mr. Haight is survived by a son, James C. Haight; a daughter, Sheila C. Harmon, and son-in-law, George E. Harmon.
Mr. Haight died Monday, May 28, 2001, in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Berglund, Williams, O'Brien Funeral Home, Arlington.
Donald Nicholson, 86, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Donald Nicholson, formerly of Springton, Prince Edward Island, Canada, died May 29, 2001. He was the husband of the late Iona (Dixon) Nicholson and Lois (Howe) Nicholson.
He was born in Springton, Prince Edward Island, Canada on Dec. 10, 1914. Mr. Nicholson served in the Royal Canadian Army during the Italian Campaign of World War II, and was discharged in 1945.
After his discharge, Mr. Nicholson moved to the Greater Boston area, where he was a carpenter. In 1998, the John Abbot Lodge, AF&AM, presented him with a 50-year Veterans Medal.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his annual summer trips to PEI to visit family and friends.
Mr. Nicholson is survived by a brother, Murdoch Nicholson of PEI Canada; three sisters, Belle Nicholson of PEI, Canada, Annie Wolfe of Manchester, N.H., and Margaret Nicholson of Montreal, Canada; two stepsons, Dunbar Seamans of Union, Maine, and Stephen Mullins of Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Beverlee (Seamans) Douglas of Marblehead; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 10, at Berglund-Williams, O’Brien Funeral Home, 292 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington.
Mary J. O’Connor, 87, formerly of Arlington
CONCORD — Mary J. O’Connor, formerly a longtime resident of Arlington, died June 3, 2001, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation of Concord. She was the wife of the late James O’Connor.
She was born in Arlington on Nov. 13, 1913, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (McClintock) Beasley.
She is survived by a son, James J. O’Connor and his wife, Joan, of Worcester; two daughters, Mary Lou Eliades of Lowell and Janet O’Connor and her husband, John Horvath, of Acton. She was also the sister of the late James and Phillip Beasley.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 7, in St. Agnes Church in Arlington. Interment was in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Arlington.
Arrangements were under the care of the Keefe Funeral Home, Arlington.
Elizabeth Webb, 61, formerly of Arlington
LITTLETON — Elizabeth (McCoy) Webb, 61, of Littleton, died suddenly at her home on Monday, May 28, 2001. She was the wife of David Webb.
She was born in Boston on Oct. 27, 1939, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Dolan) McCoy. She grew up in Arlington and was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1957. She attended UMass Boston and worked as a dispensing optician for Dr. Horley in Arlington and Dr. Messa, for several years.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Steven R. Hill and Douglas F. Hill, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kevin P. Hill of San Diego, Calif.; her brother, Frank McCoy of Raynham; a sister, Helena Seyferth of Lexington; and three grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Arthur McCoy.
There were no funeral services.

Salvatore Brunetto, 78, of Burlington
Salvatore Brunetto, 78, of Burlington, died Tuesday, June 5 at Winchester Hospital. He was the husband of Gladys L. (Janerico) Brunetto.
Born and raised in Boston he was the son of the late Louis and Jennie (DiStafino) Brunetto. He moved with his family to Burlington in 1960.
Mr. Brunetto worked in the produce business all his life beginning with Clipper Fruit, located on Alewife Brook Parkway in Cambridge. It was there that he became affectionately known as "Tutti." In 1982 he went to work for Wilson Farms in Lexington, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the YMCA.
Besides his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his dear friends, Ruth Tobio and John Billotti. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Freddie Brunetto and a sister, Sarah Brunetto.
The funeral will be held today, June 7 from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Woodbrook Cemetery, Salem St., Woburn, at 10 a.m.

Ryan S. Kane, 10, of Burlington
Ryan Scott Kane, 10, of Burlington, died June 3, 2001, at Children’s Hospital in Boston.
Ryan was a fourth-grader at Francis Wyman Elementary School in Burlington. He loved playing football, and was a running back in Burlington Pop Warner. He also played basketball at the recreation department and enjoyed camping and biking.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Doreen (Woodbury) and Neil Kane; a brother, David Kane; a sister, Andrea Kane; his grandparents, Dorothy (Bowes) and James Woodbury and Ruth (Fish) and Morton Kane; his great-grandparents, Muriel and Frank Bowes and Bernadette and Earl Woodbury, Lillian Fish and Dorothy Kane; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also the great-grandson of the late David Fish and Isaac Harry Kane.
Services were held June 5, at Temple Shalom Emeth in Burlington. Interment followed at the Woburn Hebrew Center Cemetery in Woburn.
Condolence calls may be made at his late residence through today, June 7.

Mary F. Cavanaugh, 88, leaves family in Burlington
Mary Frances Cavanaugh, 88, of Lexington, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Woodbriar of Wilmington after a brief illness.
Born in Lexington she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Annie (McDevitt) Cavanaugh and a lifelong resident. She was a 1930 graduate of Lexington High School and attended Burdett College in Boston. Prior to retirement she was employed as supervisor of mail order for Sears & Roebuck in Boston for 38 years. Previously she was a bookkeeper for Continental Leasing Co. in Billerica for 10 years. She was a communicant of St. Brigid's Church and a member of the Ladies Sodality.
Ms. Cavanaugh is survived by her nieces and nephews, Donald F. Miller and his wife Geraldine A., of Burlington, Terrence Cavanaugh of Sitka, Alaska, Timothy Cavanaugh of Laconia, N.H. and Cathy Pagani of Quincy and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was sister of the late James E. Cavanaugh, William T. Cavanaugh and Anna J. Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Malachy's Church in Burlington on May 29 with burial following in Westview Cemetery, Lexington.

Thomas Scalley Jr., 73, leaves family in Burlington
Thomas F. Scalley Jr., 73, of Woburn, died suddenly at Winchester Hospital Thursday, May 24, 2001. The son of the late, Thomas F. and Anna T. (Foley) Scalley, he was married to Patricia (McEachern) Scalley for the past 49 years.
A lifelong resident of Woburn, he attended Woburn schools, graduating from St. Charles School in 1941. He entered Woburn High School with the class of 1945 but interrupted his education to enlist in the Navy during World War 11. Upon his return from service he attended Franklin Institute to prepare for entry into the family plumbing business. In 1951, upon his father's death, Mr. Scalley took over the reigns of the family business. Although he had officially retired 10 years ago he continued to be a part of its everyday operation until his death.
Throughout his life he was a faithful member of St. Charles Parish and played an active role in the renovation and renewal of the parish in the 1960s. He also served as an usher at Sunday Mass for many years.
He enjoyed traveling, making yearly visits to Texas and Florida.
Mr. Scalley held lifetime membership in various service and religious organizations including the Woburn Lodge of Elks, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Towanda Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and three sons: Patricia Fernandes of Burlington, wife of Stephen Fernandes, Janice Carey of Woburn, wife of Neal Carey; Pauline Scalley of Woburn; Thomas of Woburn, husband of Regina Scalley; Kevin of Rowley, husband of Kate Scalley; and Stephen of Coppell, Texas, husband of Diane Scalley; 11 grandchildren; two sisters: Anne McGee of Worcester and Elizabeth Lawton of Woburn and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William J. Scalley.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, May 29 at the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home followed by a Rite of Christian Burial at St. Charles Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions in his name be made to St. Charles School, 280 Main Street. Woburn, MA 01801.
Rita E. Severo, 77, leaves family in Burlington
Rita E. Severo, 77, of Woburn, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the Orlando Regional Sand Lakes Hospital in Florida following a long illness. She was the wife of Fred A. Severo.
Born in Woburn she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret E. (Burke) DeMeo. She was raised in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School. She made her home in Woburn since 1954. Prior to retirement 15 years ago she was employed as an office manager in the payroll department of B.A.S.F. in Bedford for many years. She was devoted to her family.
Besides her husband of 52 years she is survived by a son, Fred A. Severo Jr. and his wife Darlene of Revere; a daughter, Debra R. Severo of Woburn; three sisters, Phyllis Greer of Burlington, Barbara McCarthy of Woburn and Carolyn Vandall of Chelmsford; three brothers, Anthony DeMeo of E. Boston, Richard DeMeo of Peabody and David DeMeo of Billerica and three grandchildren She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Paul DeMeo and a sister Rosemarie Mattarazzo.
The funeral was held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, Woburn, Monday, June 4 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Barbara's Church, Woburn. Interment followed at Woodbrook Cemetery.
