Barbara Pugh

BEDFORD -- Barbara (Kastle) Pugh, 57, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at her home. She was the wife of Robert R. Pugh.

Born in Martinsburg, W. Va. Sept. 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late J. William and Virginia (Morrison) Kastle. She graduated from Winchester High School in Winchester, Mass. and received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Purdue University in West Lafayette, La. in 1965. From 1968 to 1980 she was employed as a staff member at M.I.T. Lincoln Labs. She was a Bedford resident since 1968, except for a three year residency in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands from 1980 to 1983.

An avid tennis player, she was a longtime member of the Woburn Racquet Club and the U.S. Tennis Association. She participated in many tennis tournaments where she was the recipient of numerous trophies. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and participated in many state Scrabble tournaments. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son Bill Pugh Kastle of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Kristen L. Pugh of Arlington, Va., and numerous relatives and friends.

The funeral and burial will be held in Martinsburg.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. in the First Church of Christ Congregational, 25 Great Road, Bedford.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Northeast Animal Shelter, 204 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970 or to Nature Conservancy, P.O. Box 97157, Washington, DC 20077-7345.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Joseph Dee & Son Funeral Home, Concord.

Kim J. Lubell

Mr. Kim J. Lubell, of Middletown, Conn., died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000 at his residence.

He was born in Morristown, N.J. on April 17, 1956, a son of Eliot Lubell of Nashua, N.H., and the late Lula (Tsaggaris) Lubell.

Mr. Lubell has been a resident of Middletown, Conn. for the past 20 years and had formerly resided in Bedford. He was a graduate of Bedford High School, Bedford, and had attended the Acro Tech School at Hanscom Field, Bedford. He was employed as a jet mechanic for Pratt Whitney, Cheshire, Conn. For 20 years.

In addition to his father, survivors include a sister, Deborah L. Hayden of East Bridgewater; a nephew, Jacob MacDonald also of East Bridgewater.

A graveside service was held Aug. 9 in Riverside Cemetery, Nashua St., Milford, N.H. Smith & Heald Funeral Home, Milford, N.H. was in charge of arrangements.

Joyce P. Hatch

YARMOUTH, Maine -- Joyce P. Hatch, 75, formerly of Carlisle, Mass., died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at her daughter's home in Andover. She was the wife of Leonard M. Hatch of Yarmouth.

Born in Northampton Oct. 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Merwin and Florence (Allen) Pond. She was a graduate of Milford Connecticut High School and the University of Connecticut. Prior to her retirement in 1986 she worked with the Concord Family Service as a supervisor of Home Health Aid, and as an office manager for Gordon Baird Financial Services of Concord.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hatch is survived by four children, Margaret Newman M.D. of Andover, Leonard M. Hatch Jr. of South Lebanon, Maine, Welles Chamberlain of Cohasset and Sarah Harmon of Chelmsford; two sisters, June McKiff of Milford, Conn. and Janet Goodman of Little Compton, R.I. and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services are private.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Cancer Center at Saint's Memorial Medical Center, Hospital Dr., Lowell, MA 01852.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Bedford Funeral Home, Bedford.

Ruth L. Foley

Ruth L. (Soley) Foley, 92, of Winchester, formerly of Burlington, Belmont and Arlington, died July 31, 2000, at the Winchester Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Alfred N. Foley.

Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Boston Girls High School. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Massachusetts General Hospital, weekly, for 23 years. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years, a former member of the N.E. Wildflower Society, the Boston Rotary "Anns" and the Belmont Garden Club.

Mrs. Foley is survived by two daughters, Ruth A. DeSanctis and her husband Dr. Roman W. DeSanctis of Winchester and Dorothy J. Janek and her husband John S. Janek of Bedford; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Winchester Unitarian Church. Burial is private.

Memorial donations may be made to the N.E. Wildflower Society, 180 Hemenway Road, Framingham, MA 01701.

C. Norman Douglas

MILFORD, N.H. - C. Norman Douglas, 86, of 40 Crosby Street, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at Harborside Healthcare Center-Crestwood, Milford. He was the husband of Priscilla M. (Bowen) Douglas who died in 1997.

Born in Boston Aug. 3, 1913, he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Dorcas (McVay) Douglas. He had been a resident of Milford for the past five years and formerly resided in New Ipswich for 20 years. He also lived in Bedford for many years. He owned and operated Douglas Livestock Farms in Bedford and Temple Mountain Livestock Farm in New Ipswich for more than 60 years.

Mr. Douglas is survived by four sons and daughters-in law, Norman D. and Charlene Douglas of Amherst, N.H., James G. Douglas of Santa Fe, N.M., William E. and Carol Douglas of Chelmsford, Mass. and Eugene B. and Kathleen Douglas of Pepperell; a daughter, Dr. Priscilla H. Douglas of Rochester, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Edmonds of New York, N.Y. and Isabel Douglas of Cambridge and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Donald J. Douglas.

Visiting hours will be held tonight, July 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm St., Milford, N.H. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21 at 10 a.m. in the First Church of Christ, 25 Great Road, Bedford, Mass. Burial will be in Shawsheen Cemetery.

Stephen P. Davidson

PEPPERELL - Stephen P. Davidson, 38, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Karen (Jacobson) Davidson.

Born in Concord April 26, 1962, he was the son of Richard and Stephanie (Pietrowski) Davidson. He spent his early life in Bedford where he attended school and was a 1980 graduate of Bedford High School. He was a graduate of St. Anselm's College and Notre Dame University and received his master's degree in business administration from Rivier College. Prior to his illness he was employed by Actel Corp. in Chelmsford. He was also a former employee of IBM in Waltham and Hewlett Packard in Andover.

Mr. Davidson and his family were members of St. James Church in West Groton. He was also a coach for the Groton Hockey Association Mosquitoes and Mite program.

Besides his wife with whom he celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary June 30, and his parents, he is survived by his three children, Sean, 10, Brendan, 8, and Kelsey, 5, all of Pepperell; two brothers, Michael Davidson, his twin, of Kennesaw, Ga., and Richard Davidson of Bedford; two sisters, Kathleen Jaeger of Arlington, Va., and Mary Mahan of Grays Lake, Ill.; his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Broderick of Swampscott and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 21 at St. James Church, West Groton at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held today, July 20, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Dr. Patrick Wen MD, Brain Tumor Research Fund, 44 Binney St., Suite G 430, Boston, MA 02115.

Edward Campbell

BEDFORD - Edward "Pop" Campbell, 76, died Aug. 1, 2000, following an extended illness. He was the husband of Rita (Kelley) Campbell.

He was born in Everett on Oct. 3, 1923, the son of the late Edward and Mabel Campbell of Everett.

Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the Army Air Corp and later retired as a truck driver from J.J. Gallery Frozen Foods of Watertown.

For many years, Mr. Campbell managed the Bedford Militiamen Drum & Bugle Corp., along with being past president of the Eastern Mass. Drum & Bugle Corp. Association. He drove Bus No. 7 for the Bedford Charter Service.

Mr. Campbell is a late member and past commander of Bedford's American Legion Post 221.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael E. Campbell and his wife Pamela of Bedford; three daughters, Rita Behnke and her husband Robert of Lexington, Patricia Payne and her husband James of Billerica; Jo-anne T. Nolan and her husband Michael of Foxboro; a brother, Arthur K. Campbell and his wife Diane of Everett; a sister, Dorothy Purdente and her husband Richard of Reading; and four grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 4, in St. Michael's Church in Bedford. Interment was in Shawsheen Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the care of the Shawsheen Funeral Home, Bedford.

Raymond H. Russell

LOWELL - Raymond H. Russell, 81, of Lowell, died Feb. 11, 2000, at Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth L. (Ahearn) Russell, who died on July 13.

He was born in Lowell on March 23, 1918, the son of the late Howard and Ida (Hubley) Russell. He attended Lowell schools.

Mr. Russell served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was employed at the Ames Worsted Mills in Lowell, Burbeck's Mills Dairy in Lowell, and the Lowell Liquor Mart, which he managed for many years before retiring in 1988.

Mr. Russell was a member and past secretary of the Tyngsboro Sportsman's Club.

He is survived by two sons, Donald Russell and his wife M. Pamela (Howes) of Lowell, and Jeffrey Russell and his wife Brenda (Lurvey) of Shirley; a brother, Kenneth Russell of Bedford; four sisters, Marion Barker of Tewksbury, Barbara McNiff and her husband John of Dracut, and Shirley Wright and Gail Donahue and her husband James, all of Lowell; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral was held Feb. 14, at Dolan Funeral Home, Chelmsford. Interment was in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.

Melville R. MacIntosh

DERRY, N.H. - Melville R. MacIntosh, formerly of Naples, Fla., and Bedford, died Feb. 11, 2000, at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, N.H. He was the husband of Winifred (Brodie) MacIntosh.

Born in Somerville on Aug. 2, 1917, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary (Melville) MacIntosh. He was a graduate of Lexington High School.

Mr. MacIntosh was a retired drafting manager for Gen-Rad Company of Concord, and an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David MacIntosh and his wife Bonnie of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Robert MacIntosh and his wife Connie of Derry, N.H.; a brother, Dana MacIntosh and his wife Phyllis of Melrose; three sisters, Dorothy Reynolds of Needham, Mildred McNamara of Avon, and Harriet Streeper and her husband Al of Burlington; and three grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Feb. 15, in the Bedford Funeral Home. Interment was in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.

George Luff Favinger

George Luff Favinger, 89, of Fitchburg, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000 at Birchwood Care Center in Fitchburg. He was the son of the late Charles L. and Alice (Poore) Favinger of Waban.

Mr. Favinger is survived by a sister, Anne F. Gary of Bedford, formerly of Lexington; three nieces, Susan G. Argetsinger of Burdett, N.Y., Lizabeth Gary of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Allison G. Gabrielson of Woodbury, Conn. and many grandnephews and a grandniece.

Burial, under the direction of Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., Fitchburg, will be private.
