Kathryn M. Mootz

Funeral services will be held for Ms. Kathryn M. Mootz on Saturday May 16, 2009. Ms. Mootz was born in Minneapolis, MN a daughter of the late Peter and Helene (Wolff) Mootz. She had been employed for many years a Bookkeeper in the credit office of the United Shoe Company formerly of Boston, MA. Ms. Mootz had been a Watertown resident for over 45 years. During her residency she had been an active member of the Senior Neighbors, R.S.V.P, and the Catholic Charities. She had also been an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Sodality, the Catholic Charities and the Keep Smiling Club at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish formerly in Watertown. Ms. Mootz died on Thursday January 8, 2009 at the Cedar Hill Continuing Healthcare Center in Windsor, Vermont.
She was the sister of the late Anne E. Mootz and Mary K. Wood.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Saturday from 8:30-9:30 AM followed by a Memorial Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church 770 Mt. Auburn St. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
Helen V. (Russo) Maffucci

A Funeral Mass for Helen Virginia (Russo) Maffucci, 93, will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mrs. Maffucci, a daughter of the late Francis P. and Maria (Fiore) Russo, was born in Cambridge. She was a graduate of Somerville High School and has lived in Watertown for over 65 years. Mrs. Maffucci was a great cook and entertainer who was deeply devoted to her family. She died on Wednesday evening, May 6, 2009, in the Caritas-St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Boston, after a sudden illness.
She was the beloved wife of the late Guy T. Maffucci who died in December 1994; devoted mother of Vincent G. Maffucci of Watertown, Frances M. Joyce and her husband Edward of Waltham, Elaine P. Igoe and her husband Kevin of Norwood and the late Virginia E. Kidd and her surviving husband Russell of Amherst; dear sister of the late Lorenzo "Larry" Russo, Felix Russo, Joseph P. Russo, Angela E. Castle and Josephine M. Cusolito. She was also loved by her 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Tuesday at a time to be announced followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
Calling hours will be on Monday, May 11th from 5-8 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends kindly invited to the services.
Jeannette A. (DuBois) Ryan

A Funeral Mass for Jeannette Adrian (DuBois) Ryan, 87, will be celebrated on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mrs. Ryan, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Angelina (Blaine) DuBois, was born in Watertown. She was a graduate of Watertown High School and was a lifelong resident of the town. Mrs. Ryan was a bookkeeper with DuBois Corp., for over 40 years until her retirement. She died on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Waltham Crossing in Waltham.
She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard F. Ryan, Sr.; devoted mother of Joseph T. Ryan and Jeanne R. Julian and her husband Francis A. Julian all of Watertown and the late Bernard F. "Buddy" Ryan, Jr.; loving grandmother of Joseph T. Ryan, Jr., Richard R. Barry, Andrea C. Lallier, Suzanne J. Barry and Katherine A. Barry; and dear sister of Theresa L. Boudrot of Waltham, formerly of Watertown, and the late Eugene DuBois, Loretta Kenworthy, Bertrand DuBois, Madeline Snow, Army Lt. Theodore DuBois (K/I/A WWII) and Frederick DuBois. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Saturday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 o'clock in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will be in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.

Elizabeth A. (Kennedy) Hubbard

A Funeral Mass for Elizabeth Ann "Bette" (Kennedy) Hubbard, 87, will be celebrated on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mrs. Hubbard, a daughter of the late John J. and Molly (Colliton) Kennedy, was born in Belmont. She was a graduate of Belmont High School and the Hickcox Secretarial School in Boston. Mrs. Hubbard had been a sales associate at the former Grover Cronin Store in Waltham and during World War II served on the Civilian Patrol. She had been a resident of Watertown for 20 years before moving to Harwich Port in 1969. Mrs. Hubbard had volunteered at the Holy Trinity Thrift Shop in West Harwich. She died on Wednesday night, May 20, 2009, in the Maristhill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waltham.
She was the beloved wife for 64 years of William H. Hubbard; devoted mother of Charles R. Hubbard and his wife Pegeen Wright of Belmont and the late Cpl. Ronald J. Hubbard (USMC); loving grandmother of Julie O. Hubbard, Jeffrey C. Hubbard and Molly Hubbard. Dear sister of the late Mary Pictour, Leo F. Kennedy and John J. Kennedy. Dear sister-in-law of Barbara Chandnoit.

R. Gloria (Brescia) Contrada of Watertown, died after a lengthy illness on May 30, 2009 in the Emerson Village, Watertown. Eighty-Six years old.
She was the beloved wife of Joseph C. Contrada. Loving mother of Joseph A. Contrada of Waltham. Dear sister of the late Leonardo Brescia. Sister in-law of Eileen M. Brescia of Watertown. Private Funeral Services will be held.
Mrs. Contrada was a life long resident of Watertown, graduating Watertown High School class of 1941. Gloria served as the office manager for the Barrett Insurance Agency-Watertown for many years. She and he husband Joseph wintered in Ft. Lauderdale, FL many years. She was known as the “Family Organizer” by her family & friends.

Leon F. Ghita

A Funeral Service for Leon F. Ghita, 84, will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 10 AM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown.
Mr. Ghita, a son of the late Florea and Ivana Ghita, was born in Bucharest, Romania. He was raised and educated in Bucharest and was a shoemaker with his business in Bucharest. He came to the United States in 1973 and worked for a while in the shoemaking industry before becoming affiliated with his son's business, Florin Ghita, Inc., manufacturer of fine jewelry, in Boston.
He was a resident of Braintree for many years until moving to his son's residence in Weymouth, a few years ago. Mr. Ghita died on Saturday, May 30, 2009, in the Royal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Braintree.
He leaves his son Florin Ghita and his wife Radita Ghita of Weymouth; a grandson, Virgil Ghita and his wife Kathy Ghita; a granddaughter, Beatrice Ghita; two great-grandchildren: Emily Ann Ghita and Andrew Patrick Ghita; and a sister Ecaterina Iordache of Romania.
Calling hours are at the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main Street, Watertown, on Tuesday evening, June 2nd from 6:30 - 9 PM. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday morning at 10 AM in the funeral home, followed by interment in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
James F. Howard

A Funeral Mass for James Francis Howard, 86, will be celebrated on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 9 AM in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main Street, on Route 20, Watertown.
Mr. Howard, a son of the late James F. and Ella (Donovan) Howard, was born in Boston. He grew up in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He had lived in Belmont for 41 years before moving to Watertown in 1980. Mr. Howard served in the United States Army during World War II and was overseas in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. For many years, he worked as a steel burner and truck driver for the former Brown and Wales Company in Cambridge, before employment with the Belmont Housing Authority.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 45, Medford, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Waverley Post 1272, Belmont, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Tomas Cardinal O'Fiaich Division 14, Watertown; and the Teamsters Union Local 379. Mr. Howard was also member of Saint Patrick Parish attending church regularly and over the years participating in many of the parish social activities. Mr. Howard was a great sports fan and followed faithfully the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics. He died on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in the Concord Health Care Center, Concord, MA, after a brief illness.
He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Connolly) Howard who died in July 2002; devoted father of Nancy T. Mahoney of Medford, Kevin J. Howard and John M. Howard both of Leominster and the late James F. Howard III; dear brother of John Howard of Medford and the late Eileen Howard and Theresa Howard; dear brother-in-law of Mary J. Connolly of Watertown; and loving grandfather of Capt. Kathleen Farrell (USAF), Kerry Mahoney, Thomas Mahoney, Emily Howard, Michael Howard and Brian Howard.
Relatives and friends kindly invited to gather on Saturday morning, June 6th at 8:30 AM in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown for visiting prior to the Mass which will be celebrated at 9 AM.
