Mary Catherine Girroir
A Funeral Mass for Mary Catherine “Kaye” (Campbell) Girroir, 89, will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown, MA.
Mrs. Girroir was born on April 24, 1914 in Black River (Mabou), Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She was raised and educated in Cape Breton and came to the United States in 1937. For the past 49 years she was a Watertown resident and member of Saint Patrick Parish. In addition she held membership in the Canadian American Club and the Cape Breton Gaelic Club. She died at her residence on Saturday, November 29, 2003, after a brief illness.
She leaves a daughter, Karen Girroir of Watertown, MA; a sister-in-law Mary Campbell of Black River, Cape Breton; nieces and nephews.
Wife of the late Francis J. Girroir who died in January 1986, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm Donald and Catherine Ann (MacMaster) Campbell and sister of the late Angus Campbell, Jean Campbell, Donald Campbell and Mary Margaret Campbell
The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, MA. on Wednesday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 o'clock in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will be in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline, MA.

Kathleen Marie Martin
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2003 for Ms. Kathleen Marie Martin. Ms. Martin was born in Watertown a daughter of the late Randolph and Katherine (Killion) Martin. She grew up in Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School in 1935 and later receiving her B.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art. She worked for many years a designer of jewelry. Ms. Martin was active for many years with the Tiara Association for Irish Research, the Waltham Art Association, the Watertown Art Association and was co-chairperson on the reunion committees for the Watertown High School Class of 1935. She enjoyed golf and was a swimmer at the Y.M.C.A. in Waltham. Ms. Martin died on Sunday December 7, 2003 at the Epoch Senior Care Center in Weston, MA at the age of 86.
Ms. Martin was predeceased by three brothers: Edward P. Martin, Leo J. Martin and Randolph J. Martin. She was the aunt of Randolph J. Martin of So. Royalston, VT, Leo G. Martin of Watertown Edward P. of Orlando, FL, John K. of Watertown, Elizabeth Pennington of Toronto, William of Lexington, Paul of CA, Mary Ellen Madden of Ipswich, the late Catherine E. Moynihan and many great nieces and nephews..

Daniel J. Omobono
A Funeral Mass for Daniel John Omobono, 78, will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13, 2003, in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, Waltham.
Mr. Omobono was born in Brighton on April 16, 1925. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and entered the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He saw action overseas in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater in the Bismark Archipelago, Luzon, Mindano, and the Philippine Liberation.
He was an active member of the American Legion, Joseph Hill Post 156, Waltham. He served a Vice Commander and was a member of the Legion Band. Mr. Omobono played trumpet and later the cymbals, traveling with the band locally, nationally and internationally. The band participated in the parades and concerts in Waltham and surrounding towns and played at Red Square in Moscow, Russia.
He was also a member of the Marine Corps League Kelly-Sullivan Detachment, Waltham, Disabled American Veterans, and the First Marine Division Association. Mr. Omobono, who retired as a General Contractor in the mid 1970s, died at his residence on Tuesday, December 9, 2003, of cancer.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Jeanette M. (Ceglio) Omobono; two children: John D. Omobono and his wife Linda J. Omobono of Billerica, and Karen Danielle Omobono and her husband Michael J. Collura of Waltham; three grandchildren: John “Jay’ Daniel Omobono, II, Marisa J. Omobono and Stacy L. Collura; a great-grandson: Anthony D. Collura; two sisters: Mary Mancini of Watertown and Gina Cormier of Waltham; two brothers: Guido “Frank” Bono of Norwood and Anthony L. Omobono of Billerica.
Son of the late Giovanni “John” B. and Maria (Celucci) Omobono, he was also the brother of the late Gerard “Gerry” Omobono, Carmela Zawadski and Lucy “Lulu” D’Eramo.
The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Saturday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 o'clock in the Church of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham. Angelo D. Russo
A Funeral Mass for Angelo Dominic Russo, 80, a retired Watertown Firefighter, will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mr. Russo was born in Avellino, Italy on February 28, 1923. He came to the United States when he was six months old and was a lifelong Watertown resident. He attended the Marshall Spring School, West Junior High School and Watertown High School.
During World War II he entered the service from Watertown and served in the First Division of the Marine Corps. He was a member of the First Marine Division and the Guadalcanal Division Veterans Associations and traveled across the country to attend meeting with other veterans.
He was a charter member of the Amvets Post 14, Watertown, served twice as Commandant of the Pvt. Charles Shutt Detachment Marine Corps League, Watertown, and was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burnham-Manning Post 1105, Watertown, the American Legion Post 99, Watertown, and the Disabled American Veterans.
After seven years in the military and four years on the Watertown Highway Department he was appointed to the Watertown Fire Department in 1952. He drove the Watertown Rescue Ambulance and served in the Department for 28 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a former member of the Firefighters Union Local 1347, Watertown.
Mr. Russo was a founder of the Pop Warner Youth Football League, ran in the Shamrock Road Race, participated in the Watertown Firefighters Golf Tournament, enjoyed Bingo and has bricks in Ellis Island.
He died in the Sherrill House in Boston, on Monday, December 1, 2003, after a long illness.
He leaves six children: Dominic C. Russo of Brockton, Janet M. Russo of Watertown, Brenda Ann Russo of Medford, Kathleen Goff all of Watertown, Diane M. Mullens of Rye, NH, and Debora Fox of Framingham; a former wife, Edit M. O’Brien) Russo; a sister, Jean Reale of Newton; 4 grandchildren: Heidi Falter, Thomas Russo, Christopher Fox and Andrea Russo.
He was the son of the late Anthony and Bridget (Russo) Russo and brother of the late Lucille Craig.

Genevieve Doris Sharkey
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday December 9, 2003 for Ms. Genevieve Doris Sharkey. Ms. Sharkey was born in Boston, MA a daughter of the late Francis J. and Angeline E. (Munhall) Sharkey. She grew up in Arlington, MA, graduating from Arlington High School class of 1934. She worked as a Practical Nurse for the Raytheon Manufacturing Company in Waltham, MA until 1942. In 1943 she enlisted in the U. S. Navy Waves Division working as an Airplane Mechanic during World War 2, serving until 1945. After the war she was employed by the New England Telephone Company as a cashier, retiring in 1976. She lived in Watertown for many years, moving to Sandwich after her retirement. Ms. Sharkey loved gardening and bird watching. She loved her country and all it stands for. She was a patriot all the way. Ms. Sharkey died on Thursday December 4, 2003 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA at the age of 87.
She is survived by two nieces: Joanne Marie Sharkey of Watertown and Karen Lidster of Fairbanks, AK. ; and was the great aunt of James Riccio and his wife Christine of Wilmington and Bill Lidster and his wife Galina of Anchorage, AK. and great-great aunt of Joshua Blackburn and David Lidster. She was also survived by many cousins and close friends from Cape Cod.

Marion “Vicki” Chisholm
A Funeral Mass for Marion Victorine “Vicki” Chisholm, 77, will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Ms. Chisholm was born in Somerville, Mass., on January 25, 1927. She was a graduate of Saint Patrick High School, Class of 1944 and lived all her life in the town. Ms. Chisholm was a Secretary at Raytheon Co. for 40 ½ years retiring in 1989.
She was active in Saint Patrick Parish attending Theology classes and teaching Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. She furthered her education in teaching CCD at Aquinas Junior College. In her youth Vicki enjoyed crocheting, bowling and horse back riding.
Ms. Chisholm also enjoyed Bingo attending the games at the American Legion Hill Post in Waltham, Saint Patrick Parish and the former game at the Watertown Boys and Girls Club. She died on her birthday, January 25, 2004, in the Epoch of Weston Nursing Center, after a brief illness.
She leaves three sisters: Evelyn Marie Twomey of Waltham, Irene A. Cullen of Medway and Edna C. Clarke of Londonderry, NH; a brother Robert “Fred” Chisholm of Framingham; and many nieces and nephews.
Daughter of the late Charles M. and Josephine (Burns) Chisholm, she was also the sister of the late Anne Formalarie.

Mary Margaret MacDonald
Funeral Services will be held on Monday February 2 , 2004 for Mrs. Mary M. MacDonald. Mrs. MacDonald was born in Watertown a daughter of the late Pierce P. and Mary _ (Ford) Condon. She grew up in Watertown graduating from St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Watertown High School and Framingham Teacher’s College. She was on the first faculty at the Brown School formerly on Main St. in Watertown teaching 3rd grade. Mrs. MacDonald was also a graduate of the New England School of Anatomy and Embalming formerly in Kenmore Square in Boston. She was a licensed Funeral Director and along with her husband operated the Joseph A. MacDonald Funeral Home in Watertown Square. She was a Communicant at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church formerly on Mt. Auburn St. in Watertown and was an active member of the St. Catherine of Siena Sodality and the Couples Club. Mrs. MacDonald died on Thursday January 29, 2004 at her residence at the age of 97.
She was the wife of the late Joseph A. MacDonald and is survived by her children: Mary K. “Molly” and her husband James Duffy of Natick, Jean C. MacDonald and Joseph P. and his wife Ruth MacDonald all of Watertown; her grandchildren: Mary Kate Fitzpatrick of Natick, Brian J. MacDonald of Watertown, Shaileen D. Volpe of Millis and Kevin W. MacDonald of Watertown. She was also survived by her 5 great grandchildren: Joe and Cara Fitzpatrick, Joseph and Hannah MacDonald and Molly Ann Volpe.

Ann L. McCarthy
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday February 3, 2003 for Mrs. Ann L. McCarthy. Mrs. McCarthy was born in Boston, a daughter of the late James and Angela (Milano) Perrotti. She grew up in Revere, graduating from Revere High School Class of 1930, serving as Class Treasurer. She had been employed for many years as Manager and Hostess of the Howard Johnson Restaurant formerly on Soldier’s Field Road in Brighton. She later served as Manager and Hostess for the Ramada Inn on Soldier’s Field Road in Brighton, MA. Her last employment was as manager of the “Glass Slipper Consignment Shop” in Belmont. Mrs. McCarthy had been a Watertown resident for over 50 years. She died on Friday January 30, 2004 at her residence at the age of 91.
She was the wife of the late Edward J. McCarthy, Sr. and is survived by her children Edward J. McCarthy, Jr. and Jacquelyn Ann McCarthy both of Watertown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Robert P. Moynihan
A Funeral Mass for MSgt. Robert Paul Moynihan (United States Army, ret.), 62, will be celebrated on Thursday, January 29, 2004 in the Church of Saint Ignatius, Chestnut Hill.
MSgt. Moynihan was born in Waltham, on April 27, 1941, a son of Gerard J. and Marion K. (Kane) Moynihan. He graduated from Saint Patrick High School, Class of 1958 and was a long time Watertown resident and former resident of Waltham before moving to Brighton.
He furthered his education at Brandeis University receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. After graduation he served in the Peace Corps and was stationed overseas in Afghanistan. MSgt. Moynihan enlisted in United States Army in 1976 and retired in 1996 with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his twenty years he served as an Intelligence Analyst, was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and was able to speak five languages.
He received a Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3) and Army Superior Unit Award.
Lately he was a Parking Enforcement Officer for the Town of Watertown Police Department. He died in the Youville Hospital, Cambridge, on Sunday, January 25, 2004, of cancer.
He leaves four brothers: Gerard J. Moynihan of Natick, Daniel J. Moynihan and Richard V. Moynihan (Bob’s twin) both of Watertown and Stephen G. Moynihan of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, Katherine M. Ostiguy of Watertown; and 14 nieces and nephews.

Eva Modafferi
A Funeral Mass for Eva (Frissore) Modafferi, 96, will be celebrated on Monday, January 26, 2004, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mrs. Modafferi was born in Montville, N.J., on March 27, 1907. She grew up and was educated in Boonton, New Jersey and had worked at Macy’s Department Store in New York City retiring when she was 71 years old. A resident of New York City for 40 years, she moved back to Watertown in 1980. Mrs. Modafferi died on Friday, January 23, 2004, in the Emerson Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Watertown, after a long illness.
She leaves two daughters: Joanne Petito of Watertown and Geraldine Di Masi of New Milford, Conn.; a brother Don Ferris of Studio City, Calif.; a sister, Adeline Ferrier of Kempner, Tex.; 7 grandchildren; and 7great-grandchildren.
She was the wife of the late Anthony B. Modafferi who died in July 1985; daughter of the late Luigi and Maria C. (Ventresca) Frissore; and also a sister of the late Archie Frissore, Ralph Frissore, Anthony “Fritz” Frissore and Lucy Cardarelli.
