Stephen R. Shaw

A Funeral Mass for Stephen R. Shaw will be celebrated on Friday, June 15 in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, Trapelo Rd., Waltham.

Mr. Shaw was born in Waltham, a son of James W. and Gabriele S. (McNeice) Shaw. He was a lifelong Waltham resident and a graduate of Waltham High School. Mr. Shaw was a professional carpenter in the general contracting field.

He enjoyed playing darts and going fishing especially with his Uncle Charles Peters. Mr. Shaw died suddenly of a heart condition on Tuesday, June 12 in the Lahey Clinic, Burlington. He was 30 years old.

He leaves his parents, James W. and Gabriele S. Shaw of Waltham; two brothers: James W. Shaw, Jr. of Billerica and Christopher J. Shaw of Waltham; three sisters: Erika M. Lucas, Elisa M. Shaw and Monika M. Shaw all of Waltham; his maternal grandparents: John A. and Margarete (Aust) McNeice of Canton; aunt, uncles and cousins.

He was also the grandson of the late James and Julia (McCarthy) Shaw of Watertown.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Friday at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 o’clock in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, Trapelo Rd., Waltham. Interment will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.

Calling hours in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.

Eleanor M. (Noonan) Connors
Office Manager

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday August 4, 2001 for Mrs. Eleanor M. (Noonan) Connors of Watertown, formerly of Brighton. Mrs. Connors was born in Brighton, a daughter of the late Francis and Margaret (Murray) Noonan. She grew up in Brighton and graduated from St. Columbkille’s High School in Brighton, MA. She had been employed for many years as an Office Manager at the dental office of Dr. Leonard B. Shulman in Waltham. She has been a Watertown resident for over 30 years. Mrs. Connors died on Wednesday August 1, 2001 at her residence at the age of 57.

She is the mother of Detective Joseph L. Connors, Waltham Police Dept. and his wife Vita of Arlington and Carolyn M. Oates and her husband Walter J. of Waltham; grandmother of Christopher, Taylor and Hayley Connors; sister of John Noonan and Mary Lennon both of Watertown, Margaret Roberts of Marston Mills, Ann Albani of Newtown Square, PA, and the late James Noonan.

Leslie O. Hanson
Union Plumber 55 years

Funeral Services will be held on Friday August 3, 2001 for Mr. Leslie O. Hanson of Watertown formerly of Wilmington. Mr. Hanson was born in Starks, Maine a son of the late Leslie O. and Gladys (Richardson) Hanson.

Mr. Hanson worked as a plumber for the Watertown Arsenal in Watertown, MA from 1942-1943. He earned his journeymen's license having worked as a plumber's apprentice for five years. He was a member of the the 13th Parachute Maintenance Company, serving with the 517th Parachute Combat Team with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Hanson saw service in the Rome Arno, So. France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaigns. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middles Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He attended the Parachute Jump School and the Parachute Riggers School in Fot Benning, GA.

Mr. Hanson had worked for over 55 years as a Union Plumber with the Plumber’s Local #12. He died on Saturday July 28, 2001 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 84.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary I. (Walsh) Hanson. He was the father of: Leslie A. Hanson of Watertown, Beverly E. Hanson of Newton, David Hanson of Wilmington and the late Robert Hanson. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Kayla & David Hanson.

Claire Munhall
Technician

Funeral Services will be held on Monday August 6, 2001 for Ms. Claire Munhall. Ms. Munhall was born in Watertown a daughter of the late John F. and Mary E. (McManus) Munhall. She grew up in Watertown, graduating from St. Patrick’s High School and has been a lifelong resident. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse from the Bay State Hospital Nursing School. She had been employed for many years as a technician with the Raytheon Company. Ms. Munhall died on Friday August 3, 2001 at her residence at the age of 87.

She is survived by her sister Mary McLucas of Belmont and was predeceased by three brothers: William Munhall, John Munhall and George Munhall and six sisters: Angelina Sharkey, Grace Quimby, Etta Sullivan, Eileen Munhall, Dorothy Duggan and Margaret Naughton.

Funeral Services will be held from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Monday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 O’Clock in the Church of St. Patrick 212 Main St. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Thomas J. O’Brien
Retired from Western Electric

A Funeral Mass for Thomas Joseph O’Brien, Jr. will be celebrated on Friday, August 3, 2001 in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown.

Mr. O’Brien was born in Bangor, Maine, on July 31, 1937, a son of Thomas J. and Eleanor (Bille) O’Brien. He was a graduate of Watertown High School and had lived in Bedford for 20 years before moving back to Watertown 12 years ago.

He had worked as a Technician at the Western Electric Company in Watertown until his retirement in 1991. Mr. O’Brien died in the Deaconess-Waltham Hospital on his birthday, July 31st. He was 64 years old.

Mr. O’Brien leaves two children: Thomas E. O’Brien of Middleton and Linda J. O’Brien formerly of Bedford; two grandchildren: Christopher and Kelsey O’Brien of Middleton; two sisters: Elaine McIntyre of Nashua, N.H. and Joan MacDougall of Centerville; and a brother, Raymond O’Brien of Jensen Beach, Fl.

In addition to his parents, a brother, Edward O’Brien, predeceased him.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Friday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 o’clock in the Church of St. Patrick. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery.

Joseph D. Wheaton, III

Mechanic

Private Funeral Services for Joseph Douglas Wheaton, III, will be held during the week of August 5th followed by a private interment in the family lot.

Mr. Wheaton was born in Attleboro, on January 1, 1929, a son of Wallace H. and Margaret C. (Goodman) Wheaton. A graduate of Dighton High School, he was a long time Watertown resident and a retired automobile mechanic.

He served with the U. S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. Mr. Wheaton died in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jamaica Plain on Saturday, August 4, 2001, after a sudden illness. He was 72 years old.

He leaves a daughter, Elizabeth A. Wheaton, of Watertown; a brother, Charles Wheaton of Watertown; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Wallace Wheaton, and by a sister, Frances Cameron.

Peter A. Boccadoro

Drove Race Car “The Bear”

A Funeral Mass for Peter A. Boccadoro will be celebrated on Saturday, October 20, 2001 in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown.

Mr. Boccadoro was born in Watertown, on March 1, 1943, a son of Salvatore Joseph and Ida Mary (Domenichello). He was a graduate of Watertown High School and resided in New Bedford for the past 16 years.

He was an upholsterer and had worked at King’s Upholstering and Auto Seat Coverings in Watertown before moving out of the Watertown area. He also enjoyed automobile racing and drove “The Bear” at many east coast dragways.

Mr. Boccadoro died suddenly at his New Bedford residence on Wednesday, October 17, 2001. He was 58 years old.

He leaves his mother Ida M. Dodge of West Newton; a son Peter J. Boccadoro of Barre, MA.; a brother, Salvatore Boccadoro of Wayland; and three sisters: Susan Mongeon of Carrolton, Tex., Anna Campbell of Onset and Eleanor Biotti of Newton Centre.

In addition to his father, “Joe” Boccadoro, he was predeceased by a sister, Constance Patriarca LaCasse.

The Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Sat. at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 o’clock in the Church of St. Patrick. Interment will follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery.

Lily J. Jenkins

100 Years Old

Funeral services for Lily J. (Elliott) Jenkins will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2001, in Saint John's Methodist Church, 80 Mount Auburn St., Watertown, MA.

Mrs. Jenkins was born on June 11, 1901, in Summerford, Newfoundland, a daughter of Samuel and Fannie (Stuckless) Elliott. She moved to Watertown in 1923 and resided in the town for the rest of her life. For many years she worked in the cafeteria of the West Junior High School and Watertown High School.

From 1946-1956, she was associated with Morgan Memorial Fresh Air Camps in South Athol, MA. and for many years worked as a provider of private home care. She died on Friday night, October 19, 2001, in the Epoch Home Health Care of Weston. She was 100 years old.

She leaves two children: R. Wayne Jenkins of Dahlonega, Ga., and Paula J. Faulkner of Belmont; a sister, Gertrude E. Stockley of Newfoundland; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was the wife of the late Llewelyn P. Jenkins and mother of the late Rev. Ronald E. Jenkins.

The Funeral Service will be on Saturday at 11 AM in Saint John's Methodist Church. Interment will be in the family lot in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in Watertown Square at 6 Riverside Street, Watertown. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.

Rose H. Johnson

Homemaker

A Funeral Mass for Rose Helen (Roche) Johnson will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, in the Church of Saint Luke, 132 Lexington St., Belmont.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Nashua, NH, on August 14, 1907, a daughter of James H. and Elizabeth (Somerville) Roche. She grew up in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1925 and from Keene Normal School in 1927.

She taught briefly in New Canaan NH and then until 1941 in Nashua, N.H when she married Ernest J. Johnson. She was a Watertown resident for the past 54 years and was a member of Saint Luke Parish for those years attending church up to three weeks ago.

She died in the Emerson Hospital, Concord, on Saturday morning, October 13, 2001, after a brief illness. She was 94 years old.

She leaves a son, Gerald J. Johnson of Arlington; a daughter, Judith A. Johnson of Maynard; three grandchildren: Patrick M. Johnson, Daniel C. Johnson and Brian T. Johnson.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest J. Johnson who died in March 1978; three sisters: Isabel Phippard, Lillian Roche and Irene Curry; and a brother, James Roche.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 o'clock in the Church of St. Luke. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
