Richard J. McCarthy, 65; worked for Hathaway Shirt Co.

Richard J. McCarthy of Wellesley Hills died suddenly on June 7, 1997, in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 65.

Born in Dorchester, he was the son of Charles R. and Marion E. (Manning) McCarthy.

Mr. McCarthy was a director of production control for C.F. Hathaway Shirt Company in Lowell. He was a member of the Hull Yacht Club and the Boston College Varsity Club, and was a manager of the Boston College baseball team.

He leaves his wife of 29 years, Mary H. (Hughes) McCarthy; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was said in St. John the Evangelist Church on June 11. Interment was private. Arrangements were by the Henry J. Burke and Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Sebastian's Country Day School, 1191 Greendale Ave., Needham, MA 02192.

Stanley Gordon, 82; memorial observance through tonight

Stanley Gordon of Wellesley, formerly of Waban, died on June 9, 1997. He was 82.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Louis and Esther Gordon.

Mr. Gordon was the husband of Harriett (Amolsky); father of Joan and Michael Salke of Boston; grandfather of Brian, Allison and Evan Salke; and great-grandfather of Ian Salke. He was the brother of Beatrice Freedberg of Boston and the late Irene Miller and Milton Gordon.

Services are scheduled for today, June 12, at noon at the Levine Chapel, 470 Harvard St., Brookline. Memorial observance will be through this evening at his late residence.

Remembrances may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Stephen R. Deane, 85; complete obituary notice to follow

Stephen R. Deane of Brunswick, Maine, formerly of Wellesley, died May 27, 1997, at Lake Placid Health Care Center in Florida. He was 85.

A graduate of Bowdoin College, he received a master's degree in psychology from Harvard University and a doctorate in psychology from the University of Maryland. He served as a captain in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Dr. Deane was the retired head of the Department of Psychology at Simmons College and a longtime resident of Wellesley.

The husband of the late Ruth W. Weller, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Deborah) Wourms of Clemson, S.C., and Mrs. Mark (Nancy) Deyrup of Lake Placid, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Maine at the end of July.

Veronica M. Wullenweber, 96; former longtime resident of Illinois

Veronica M. (Cook) Wullenweber of Wellesley died June 4, 1997, at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham. She was 96.

Born in Poplar Grove, Ill., she was the daughter of John and Katherine (DeWane) Cook.

Mrs. Wullenweber was a resident of Wellesley for four years. She had formerly lived in Rockford, Ill., for many years.

She was the wife of the late Harry E. Wullenweber and mother of the late Beverly A. Bates.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Kendall P. Bates of Wellesley; four grandchildren, Jonathan E. Bates of Boston, David A. Bates of Elmira, N.Y., Mark D. Bates of Franklin, and Anne K. Bates of Wellesley; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held June 7 in the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley. Interment was in St. James Cemetery, Belvidere, Ill.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham 01701.

Ellis Knotts memorial service

A memorial service and celebration of the life of E. Ellis Knotts will be held Saturday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church, United Methodist, Wellesley.

Mr. Knotts died March 29, 1997, at age 80. An Army veteran of World War II, he had served under Gen. George Patton and was the recipient of a Bronze Star. Before retiring, he was the director of finance at ITT Sheraton Hotels.

A resident of Medfield for 32 years, Mr. Knotts had previously lived on Juniper Road, Wellesley. He was a longtime active member of Christ Church.

Eva R. Mighill, 85; former resident of Jamaica Plain

Eva R. (Roy) Mighill of Wellesley died June 1, 1997, at her home. She was 85.

Born in Boston, she lived in Jamaica Plain before moving to Wellesley. She worked as an accountant.

Mrs. Mighill had been a member of the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club, the Central Congregational Church, and the Rowley Historical Society.

The widow of John P. Mighill, she is survived by a son, Scott G. Mighill of Wellesley; a brother, Joseph Roy of Roslindale; a sister, Georgina Roy of Washington, D.C.; and a grandson, Joshua Sebastian Mighill of Wellesley.

A funeral service was held June 4 at the Mann & Rodgers Funeral Home, Jamaica Plain. Interment was in the Main Street Cemetery, Rowley.

Harold F. Pritone Sr., 74; WHS grad; longtime Medfield resident

Harold F. Pritone Sr. of Medfield, formerly of Wellesley and Norwood, died unexpectedly on May 28, 1997, at the Columbia MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. He was 74.

Born June 30, 1922, in Newton, he was the son of the late Albert and Leonarda (Cariani) Pritoni. He was educated in the Wellesley schools, graduating in 1940.

Mr. Pritoni retired in 1986 after serving as director of Building and Grounds for the Town of Medfield School Department for more than 20 years. He was also a former employee of Project Accept, a former Medfield Special Police Officer, and a former member of the Medfield Golf League.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. (Blood) Pritoni; his children, Harold F. Pritoni Jr. and his wife Nancy of Medfield, Denise M. Hosey and her husband John of Medfield, and Anthony J. Pritoni and his wife Cynthia of Norfolk; his brother, Albert Pritoni of Rangeley, Maine; and five grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Pritoni, Robert Tammero Jr. and John and Thomas Pritoni. He was the brother of the late Anthony Gallerani and Daria Zucchelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 31 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, Medfield. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. Arrangements were by the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, Medfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

John T. Sullivan, 75; veteran; retired Wellesley firefighter

John T. Sullivan of Natick, formerly of Wellesley, died unexpectedly on May 29, 1997, at the Columbia MetroWest Medical Center, Leonard Morse campus, Natick. He was 75.

Born in Newton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Burke) Sullivan. He was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Sullivan was a resident of Wellesley for 50 years and Natick for 25 years. He was a Wellesley firefighter for 33 years. He was a member of the Natick Lodge of Elks and the Natick VFW.

The husband of the late Gloria A. (Recchia) Sullivan, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Smith of Pembroke and Joanne Martinelli of Holliston; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Rita Goodwin of Stillwater, Okla., and Mary Santoro of Natick; a brother, Joseph Sullivan of Natick; and a dear friend, June Rooney of Natick.

A funeral Mass was said in Sacred Heart Church, South Natick, on May 31. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. Arrangements were by the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley.

Memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 44 Binney St., Boston.

Josephine Gray, 82; former radio actress, local volunteer

Josephine (Baker) Gray of Needham, formerly of Wellesley, died May 28, 1997, at the Deaconess Glover Hospital. She was 82.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, she had lived for many years in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.; in Wellesley from 1944 to 1957; and at North Hill in Needham for seven years.

While in New York, Mrs. Gray had worked as a radio actress on many radio shows. She was active in the Westchester Children's Association, worked at the Briarcliff Library, and was a member of the All Saints Church in Briarcliff.

She was a volunteer at the North Hill Library and was active in St. Mary's Church of Newton Lower Falls while living in Needham.

A graduate of Ohio State University, Mrs. Gray was active with alumnae of her sorority, Pi Beta Phi.

The wife of the late M. Mallory Gray, she is survived by three children, Michael M. Gray of Auburndale, Sarah J. Markesky of Essex, Conn., and Janet B. Bowler of Buchanan, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held June 2 at St. Mary's Church. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, Conn. Arrangements were by the Eaton Funeral Home, Needham.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, 258 Concord St., Newton Lower Falls, MA 02162, or All Saints Church, Scarborough Road, Briarcliff Manor, NY.

Lazzaro Ralli, 85; landscaper, active in Italo-American Club

Lazzaro Ralli of Wellesley died unexpectedly on May 29, 1997, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 85.

Born in Italy, he was the son of the late Isadore and Rosa (Ferretti) Ralli.

Mr. Ralli lived in Wellesley for 70 years. He was a former employee of F. Diehl and Sons of Wellesley. He also owned his own landscaping business. He was a founding member of the Italo-American Educational Club of Wellesley.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Resmini) Ralli; and five children, Rosemarie, Louise, Geraldine, Louis and Mary Jane Ralli, all of Wellesley.

A funeral Mass was said in St. Paul's Church, Wellesley, on May 31. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. Arrangements were by the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley.

Mary M. Caporuscio, 93; former longtime Framingham resident

Mary M. (Larosa) Caporuscio of Wellesley died June 3, 1997, at the Columbia MetroWest Medical Center, Leonard Morse campus, Natick. She was 93.

Born in Fairmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Emma (Crawford) Larosa. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Caporuscio, who died in May 1987.

Mrs. Caporuscio was a resident of Wellesley for the past eight years. Previously, she had lived in Framingham for more than 22 years and had been active in the Callahan Senior Center.

She is survived by a brother, Dayton M. Larosa of Fairmont; two granddaughters, Claire L. Sullivan of Dover and Barbara L. Robinson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son-in-law, Joseph P. Robinson of Saugus; three great-grandchildren, Laura, Paul and John Sullivan, all of Dover; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Frank Caporuscio and the late Rosalie L. Robinson.

Visiting hours will be today, June 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eugene J. McCarthy and Sons Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham. A funeral Mass will be said in St. Paul's Church, 500 Washington St., Wellesley, on Friday, June 6. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Framingham.
