Robert Emmett Lyons
December 16, 1939 - May 17, 2007
Robert Emmett Lyons, 67, of Maynard, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Bob passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his side. He was the husband of the late Ettie M. “Major” (Dyer) Lyons who died in 2004.
Born in Concord on December 16, 1939, he was the son of the late James J. Lyons and Laura (Monaghan) Lyons. He attended Concord public schools and graduated from Concord High School.
From 1958 until 1963, he served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
Prior to his retirement in 2005, Mr. Lyons worked in computer security at the Federal Aviation Administration in Cambridge. Previously, he was employed for 30 years at Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard. During the 1960’s he worked for NASA at Cape Canaveral, Florida and the Goddard Flight Center in Landover, Maryland.
A resident of Maynard since 1972, he was a member of the Maynard Lodge of Elks. An avid sportsman, he was a fisherman and fan of the Patriot’s and the Red Sox. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Lyons, Jr. and his wife Rosalie of Salisbury Beach, Matthew H. Lyons and his wife Mary-Ellen of Littleton and E. Vanessa Lyons of Ellsworth, Maine, four grandchildren, Connor Lyons and Evan Lyons, both of Littleton, and Jessica Bosse and Jacob Bosse, both of Salisbury Beach, brother, Richard Lyons and his wife Carol of Franklin, one sister, Kathryn Lyons of Acton, nieces, Linda Lyons, Lisa Lyons, nephews, John Lyons and Richard Lyons as well as several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother James J. Lyons Jr.,
Funeral will be held on Monday, May 21st from the Dee Funeral Home of Concord, 27 Bedford St., Concord Center at 7:45 AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Bridget’s Church, Maynard at 9 AM.
Burial will be in the family burial plot in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord where officers of the U. S. Air Force will present military honors.
Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Sunday, May 20th from 3 to 7 PM. Deacon John Pepi of St. Bridget Parish will officiate at the wake services at 5:30pm on Sunday.
Concord’s town flag will fly at half-staff on Monday in recognition of his service in the U.S. Air Force.

Nicholas Eannuzzo
September 24, 1922 - July 14, 2007
Nicholas Eannuzzo, 84, a lifelong West Concord resident, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Emerson Hospital in Concord.
He was born at home on Conant Street in West Concord on September 24, 1922, son of the late Joseph and Salvatrice (Terrasi) Eannuzzo.
For thirty-six years, prior to his retirement in 1987, Mr. Eannuzzo was employed as a millwright at Slid-a-Units Atlantic Pre-hung doors in West Concord where he worked on interior millwork for new house construction. Previously, he worked at the former Allen Chair Company in West Concord.
He enjoyed woodworking, vegetable gardening and was an avid sports fan of the Bruins and Red Sox.
Survivors include two brothers, Stephen Eannuzzo and Salvatore “Toto” Eannuzzo, both of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Nelson and Domenic Eannuzzo.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 18th at 10 AM in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
Burial will follow in the family burial plot in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord.
Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, July 17th from 3 to 7 PM.

Hedvig von Mayrhauser Sturges
August 13, 1923 - July 13, 2007
Hedvig (von Mayrhauser) Sturges, 83, died peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by her three children on the evening of Friday, July 13. She was the beloved wife of Rowland G.H. Sturges, also of Concord.
Born in Kiel, Germany in 1923, Hedvig grew up in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and finally Italy, where she attended convent schools before emigrating with her family to the United States in 1939. Hedvig's family settled in her mother's hometown of Kansas City, MO, where she graduated from the Barstow School. Hedvig attended the University of Missouri until she met Rowland Sturges of Providence RI, who had been posted to Kansas City for wartime service. After a whirlwind six-week courtship, Hedvig and Rowland were married.
They settled in Cambridge in 1947 and remained Cambridge residents until moving to Concord in 2003.
In 1949 Hedvig joined the board of The Window Shop, a Cambridge-based European bakery and gift shop that provided scholarship funds for refugees. The Treasurer of the Window Shop for many years, Hedvig was also a frequent volunteer in parent activities at Shady Hill School and Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, the primary schools that her children attended.
In 1982 Hedvig became the rental agent for the Cambridge Boat Club. Hedvig stewarded operations at the Boat Club until her retirement at age 80, when the members held a ceremony and named a four-man scull in her honor. Hedvig also handled financial matters for the Cambridge Historical Society and for numerous private clients. She was a member of the Mother's Club and the Quaestus investment club.
Hedvig leaves her devoted children Alice Steinman and her husband Ira, of Mill Valley, CA, Howard Sturges and his wife Priscilla of Concord and Jeffrey Sturges of Santa Monica, CA; also grandchildren Timnah Steinman of Oakland, CA and Joshua Steinman and wife Paige of San Francisco, CA, and Polly and Phoebe Sturges of Concord.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday July 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Parish in Concord, 20 Lexington Road, Concord Center.
Private burial will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Community Music Center of Boston, 34 Warren Avenue, Boston MA 02116.
Mr. Charles Francis O'Neil
July 02, 1941 - November 29, 2005
Charles F. O’Neil, 64, former longtime Concord resident, of Littleton, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Emerson Hospital in Concord.
Born in Concord on July 2, 1941, he was the son of Ruth C. (Blanchard) O’Neil of Acton and the late Walter L. O’Neil. He attended Concord public schools and graduated from Concord High School in 1959.
During the Vietnam Era, he served as an Airman Third Class in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Spain.
Since 1964, Mr. O’Neil was employed as a Warehouseman for Palmer Moving and Storage Company in Concord.
For many years, he was a resident of Concord before moving to Littleton. He enjoyed his family, friends, sports and traveling, especially to Ireland and throughout the United States.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Walter L. O’Neil, Jr. and his wife Victoria of Lee and Kevin D. O’Neil of Sutter Creek, California, one sister, Sally Testa and her husband John of Acton, 6 nieces and nephews, Michael O’Neil, Daniel O’Neil, Evan Testa, Katherine O’Neil, Tara Testa and Erin Whitaker, 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, December 3rd from the Joseph Dee & Son Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER at 9 AM followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10 AM.
Burial will follow in the family burial plot in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord.
Visiting hours will be held at the Dee Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
Concord's town flag will fly at half staff on Saturday, December 3rd in recognition of Mr. O'Neil's service to his country in the United States Air Force.
Mrs. Dorothy Theresa Colbert
October 14, 1930 - December 28, 2005
Dorothy a resident of Concord, Massachusetts since 1957, died suddenly, but peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, December 28, 2005. She had been in good health and spirits having had a Christmas Eve party at her home. Her immediate family and all her grandchildren had surprised and celebrated with her on the occasion of her 75th birthday on October 14th of this year.
Dot met her husband, Edward, in Somerville, Massachusetts while she was working as a teller at the Somerville National Bank. She was a 1948 graduate of Somerville High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Their close friends from high school have continued to support them through 52 years of marriage.
Dorothy is survived by her husband and five sons, Michael of Durban, France, Stephen and his wife Bethany of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Edward and his wife Deborah of Topsfield, John of Norwood, and Joseph and his wife Jean of Carlisle. Grandma Dot dearly loved each of her eleven grandchildren Andrew, Stephanie, Michaela, Tate, Matthew, Kelsey, Keith, Kimberly, Michael, Jennifer, and James.
Dot was born at home of loving parents Mary Lysaght Hoar and Patrick Hoar, in Haverhill. Her parents had immigrated from Counties Clare and Kerry in Ireland.
Dot the youngest of six is survived by two sisters, Marion Gavin of Hingham and Patricia Williams of Arlington. She was sister to the late John Hoar of Arlington, Francis Hoar of Hingham, and Elizabeth Hoar of Arlington. Also survived by a close family of many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy's love was to be a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Over the 48 years in Concord she was active in St. Bernard's parish, their Circle of Friends, a hostess at the Old Manse, the Emerson Auxiliary, and the West Concord Women's Club.
Dorothy has left all of us with an empty space to be filled by her memories, her smile, her laugh, and her love.
