Pasquale J. Masiello, 83, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday, March 11 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Eva C. (Serio) Masiello. Born and educated in Boston, he was a graduate of English High School. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 45 years. Mr. Masiello was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a clothing salesman and manager at Sumners in Boston for over 30 years before retiring several years ago. He was an avid storyteller.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Masiello is survived by his sons, David Masiello of Attleboro, John Masiello of NC, Steven Masiello of Marshfield and Robert Masiello of Las Vegas, NV, as well as his brother, Salvatore Masiello of Brockton. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Interment will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery

CHARLES F. ACHORN

Charles F. Achorn, 69, died at the Stanley R. Tippett House in Needham on Monday, March 7 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Judith A. (Campbell) Achorn. Born in Boston, he was a graduate of Boston Trade School and attended Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Mr. Achorn resided in Stoughton for over 30 years. He was a machine operator at Forti Fiber in Attleboro for over 40 years before retiring in 2001. Mr. Achorn was a member of the American Legion in Boston and the VFW in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Achorn is survived by his children, Anne M. Homer and her husband Lawrence of Brockton, Kathleen A. Farrell and her husband David of Stoughton, Donna F. Scholl and her husband John of Walpole, Charles Woodward of Wrentham and Diane Lindemayer of CT. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica, Kelly, Jason, Patrick, Amy, Katey, Megan, Melissa, Sara, Jenna and Ryan, as well as his niece, Kristina Feist and his nephew, Eric Feist.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday at 10: 30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 PM. ANNIE (COHEN) HAYNES

Annie (Cohen) Haynes, 95, died at the Tower Hill Center for Health & Rehab. in Canton on Monday, March 7. She was the wife of the late William L. Haynes. Born in Barnwell, SC, Mrs. Haynes was educated in Brookline Schools. She was a Stoughton resident for the past 17 years after living in Roxbury for 50 years. She worked in domestic service for many years before working in manufacturing in later years. She retired 30 years ago.
Mrs. Haynes is survived by her son, Ronald B. Haynes of S. Easton, her daughters, Marjorie H. O'Reilly of Newton and Deborah A. Pearson of Stoughton, her grandchildren, Michelle Henson, Sherice Pearson and Evan O'Reilly and her great-granddaughter, Cierrah Bridges. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.

WILLIAM H. RIDER

William H. Rider, 75, died unexpectedly at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, March 3. He was the husband of Eleanor C. (Collins) Rider. Born in Paterson, NJ, he was educated in Paterson schools and graduated from Columbia University in New York. Mr. Rider was a Brockton resident since 1979. He was an engineer at Raytheon in Norwood and Quincy for 20 years before retiring in 1991.
In addition to his wife, Eleanor, Mr. Rider is survived by his sons, Clifford T. Rider of ME, William R. Rider of Ayer and Scott M. Rider of CT and his daughter, Erin C. McKenna of VT. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Vander Wende.

CYRIL S. "STAN" LEWIS, JR.

Cyril S. "Stan" Lewis, Jr., 77, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Sunday, February 27 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Helen M. (Catalano) Lewis for 51 years. A lifelong Stoughton resident, he was educated in Stoughton Schools and Norfolk County Agricultural School in Walpole. Mr. Lewis was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator with the Local 4 in Boston for many years. He was also the owner of Meadowbrook Campground in S. Easton for 25 years and KOM Tree & Landscaping for 25 years. Mr. Lewis was a longtime member of the Faith Baptist Church in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed painting, woodcarving, gardening, teaching and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Helen, Mr. Lewis is survived by his sons, Brian E. Lewis and his wife Pamela of Bridgewater, Douglas E. Lewis and his wife Heather of Easton and Mark E. Lewis and his wife Karen of Groton, as well as his sisters, Elaine Davis of E. Bridgewater, Eleanor Gaibl and Mildred Morrill both of Stoughton. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary E. Lewis and his sisters, Elsie Paine, Evelyn Kundrodt and Esther Lewis.

JOHN G. SERPA

John G. Serpa, 79, died Sunday at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Maria H. (Lopes) Serpa. Born in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he moved to the United States in 1966, settling in Stoughton. He became a United States Citizen in 1975. Mr. Serpa worked as an assembler at Digital in Boston for many years, retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Clube Luis de Camoes and San Joao Filharmonic Society both in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife Maria, he is survived by his children: Celina M. "Sally" Fraga of Stoughton, Judy M. Townsend of Sharon, Avelino L. "Al" Serpa and Eddie L. Serpa both of Stoughton. He was the brother of Antonio G., Cecelia Freitas, and Deolinda Gomes all of Portugal, Bernadette Almeida of Stoughton and Francisco G. of CA. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Chester A. Smith, 85, died Friday February 25 at the Goddard Rehabilitation Nursing Center in Stoughton after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Florence F. (Minuchi) Smith. Born in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton Schools, class of 1937 and Boston College, class of 1950. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy. Mr. Smith was a member of the Naval Reserves for over 30 years. Mr. Smith worked as a chemist for Avon Sole in Avon for over 20 years and prior to that for Plymouth Rubber for 10 years. He had been retired for over 15 years. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and watching the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics.
In addition to his wife Florence, he is survived by his children: Chester I. Smith, Noreen F. Pope, Stephen W. Smith, Patricia J. Smith-Allen, Mark E. Smith, Deborah A. Connors, David A. Smith and Thomas J. Smith. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Mr. Smith is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and 1 sister.

JOHN R TOBIN III

John R. Tobin III, 54, died unexpectedly at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after suffering a heart attack. He was the husband of Susan A. (Kosinski) Tobin. Born in Quincy, he was raised in Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton Schools. Mr. Tobin was a resident of Carver for over 30 years and active in town youth sports. Mr. Tobin worked as a manager for Verizon for 30 years. He also worked as a police officer in the Town of Carver for 5 years many years ago. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Police Academy. Mr. Tobin was a member of the Upland Sportsman Club in Plympton. He was active in youth sports in Carver as a baseball coach for 22 years and a football coach for many. He loved baseball and enjoyed teaching baseball to kids. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, John C. and his girlfriend Alison Wilson and Keith R. and his wife Caitlyn all of Carver. He was the son of John R. Jr. and Anna M. (McStowe) of Stoughton. Mr. Tobin was the brother of Thomas F. of Norwood, Barbara Fobert of Attleboro, Michael J. of Stoughton and Kenneth J. of TX. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

WILLIAM J. MACKIE

William J. Mackie, 75, died Friday, February 25 at his home. He was the husband of the late Vera G. "Rusty" (Coughlin) Mackie. Born in Boston, he was a graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1947. He was a US Army Veteran of the 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Mackie worked as a machinist at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy for 37 years. He retired in 1988. In his free time, Mr. Mackie enjoyed reading, hockey and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Katherine A. Paradis of Franklin, Kevin J. Mackie of Mansfield and Pauline T. Hurley of Stoughton. He was the grandfather of Teresa & Joseph Gwynn, Elizabeth, Emma & William Mackie and Jason, Kyle and Eric Paradis. He was the brother of Mary Maclay of Quincy and the late Robert Mackie. Mr. Mackie is also survived by his best friend Kathy Maguire.
Graveside Service will be held at Knollwood Memorial Park, High St., Canton (Enter from Canton St. off Rt. 27 Sharon) on Monday at 12: 30 PM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Sunday from 2-5 PM. Martha (Bower) Buckley, 51, of North Easton died Wednesday evening, February 28, 2001 at the Brigham and Woman Hospital in Boston after a short illness she was the wife of Richard W. Buckley of North Easton. Born in Ohio she was the daughter of Edna (Squire) Bower of Raynham and the late Wayne R. Bower. She was raised in Norwalk, Connecticut. Mrs. Buckley once worked as a Senior Flight Attendant for the former Eastern Airlines Company. She also had a Massachusetts State Insurance Brokers License and had worked as a secretery for a Insurance Company. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Buckley of North Easton; Her two Brothers, Donald Bower of Florida and Robert Bower of California; Her Sister, Ellen M. Sharp of South Easton; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A private family prayer service was held in the Russell Funeral Home and interment took place in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery

Walter A. Devlin, 77, of Randolph formerly of Charlestown and South Boston died Monday, February 26, 2001 at the Olympus Specialty & Rehabilitation Hospital in Braintree. He was the husband of the late Helen E. (Koval) Devlin. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Daniel Devlin and Marion A. (Herbert) Devlin he was raised in Charlestown and attended Boston Schools. Mr. Devlin served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. Mr. Devlin was a retired truck driver he worked for several years for Hood Milk Company and M&M Transportation in Somerville. He was a member of the Local # 25. Mr. Devlin was a car enthusiast and was a member of the DAV chapter#22 in South Boston.He is survived by his three sons, Ronald C. Devlin of the Philippines, Paul S. Devlin of Randolph, and Alan M. Devlin of South Boston; His Brothers, Daniel Devlin of North Andover and Fred Ienesson of California; he is also survived by eight Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews. He was the father of the late Daniel Devlin and Maureen Devlin.
