Donald A. Davis, Sr., 74, died Saturday, November 1 at the Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of Loretta H. (Lepine) Davis. A lifelong resident of Stoughton, he was educated in Stoughton schools. He was a foreman with the Stoughton Dept. of Public Works in Stoughton for 30 years before retiring 13 years ago. Mr. Davis was a member of the Rising Star Lodge in Stoughton and the Town Employees Assn. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, especially vegetables.
In addition to his wife Loretta, Mr. Davis is survived by his children, Donald A. "Rusty" Davis, Jr. and Jacquelyn M. Davis both of Stoughton and Joanne Petersen of Kingston. He was also survived by 2 grandchildren.
Visitation, Funeral Service and Interment will be private. Donations in Don's memory may be sent to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
EDWARD T. "RED" HORAN

Edward T. "Red" Horan, 81, a longtime resident of Sharon and former resident of Stoughton, died Saturday at the Brockton Hospital in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Ruth M. (Craig) Horan. Born in Boston, he was educated in Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton Schools, Class of 1940. An accomplished athlete and class officer, Mr. Horan was an All-Scholastic selection, a four-year letter winner in Football, Baseball and Basketball and an inductee into the Stoughton High School Hall of Fame in 1993. He was widely acclaimed as an outstanding pitcher for Connie Spillaine's first Easton Huskies semi-professional baseball team in N. Easton.
Enlisting in the Army Air Corps at the outbreak of WWII, "Red" earned his wings as a pilot. Captain Horan piloted 126 missions in the Pacific Theater and received the Army Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters. While overseas, he was informed of the death of his brother William while in the skies over Nazi Germany as well of the death of his dear father of natural causes.
Returning from the war, Mr. Horan married his high-school sweetheart, Ruth Craig of North Easton and resumed work in the family ice and oil business started by his father in 1936, which later evolved into a fuel oil sales and appliance business in Stoughton. The company grew into a modern oil dealership on Simpson Street in Stoughton from which he retired in 1988.
Mr. Horan was an active participant in the community. With his wife Ruth, he was involved with the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton, raising money for electric wheelchairs and activities for the students. A devout Catholic and daily communicant, he was a parishoner of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, where he served as Senior Acolyte. A Eucharistic Minister, he served as outreach coordinator at the former Goddard Hospital in Stoughton.
In addition to his wife Ruth M. (Craig) Horan, he is survived by his children: William T. of Stoughton, Mary Elizabeth of Newtonville, Edward T. Jr. of Stoughton, James M. of Easton, Daniel P. of Brockton, Ruth M. Nelson of W. Bridgewater, Peter G. of Easton and Regina M. Dallaire of Sharon. He was the brother of Leo F. of Revere and Helen Ball of Stoughton and the late William P. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday at 9: 15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, STOUGHTON at 10: 15 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Donations in lieu of flowers in Mr. Horan's name may be made to the Edward T. Horan Sr. Religious Education Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St., Sharon, 02067. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery

JAMES W. FREEMAN

James W. Freeman, 64, a longtime resident of N. Carver, died Friday at the VA Medical Center in Brockton after a brief illness. Born in Stoughton, he was raised and educated in Stoughton. Mr. Freeman was a Veteran of the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a Welder and Pipefitter for the former Goddard Hospital in Stoughton for 25 years and then for Ark-Les in Stoughton for the past 5 years. Previously, he worked at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. Mr. Freeman was a member of the VFW in Carver and a former member of the Rising Star Masonic Lodge in Stoughton. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Dorothy M. (McMann) Freeman, he leaves his children Cheryl A. Baldini of Hyannis and Richard J of VA. He was the son of Annie (Wihanto) Freeman of Norton and the late William H. Freeman. He also leaves his siblings; William J. of Sutton, Anna May Moss of UT, Roberta L. Mann of Norton and the late Richard Freeman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his grandchildren Joseph and Lindsay Baldini and Connor and Nicholas Freeman.

MILDRED R. (CLOUGH) SUNDQUIST

Mildred R. (Clough) Sundquist, 89, died at Park Place in Ocala, FL on Monday, October 27 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Allan L. Sundquist. Born and educated in Natick, Mrs. Sundquist resided in Rumford, RI for 40 years before moving to Ocala, FL 2 years ago. She was a payroll clerk at Boston Edison for 30 years and E. Providence, RI schools for 11 years before retiring 25 years ago. She was a member of OPEL, Older People Enjoying Life and PEAL, People Enjoying Active Living. In her free time Mrs. Sundquist enjoyed painting, photography, traveling and dancing.
She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Calderone of Ocala, FL and her nieces, Karen Briere of Stoughton, MA and Jana Gardella of Concord, MA. She is also survived by 5 great nieces and nephews, 1 great-great niece and 1 great-great nephew.
Funeral Service will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior from 10 AM. Interment will take place at Blue Hill Cemetery

JOSEPH "DUKE" LESSA

Joseph "Duke" Lessa, 81, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Tuesday at the Sachem Nursing Home in East Bridgewater after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Alice T. (Rodericks) Lessa. Mr. Lessa was a WWII veteran of the US Army. Mr. Lessa worked for many years as a self employed tile contractor. In his free time, Mr. Lessa enjoyed remodeling properties, reviewing history and geography.
He leaves his children, Brenda L. Sjoquist and her husband Cliff and Kenneth J. Lessa and his wife Lisa all of Stoughton. He was the brother of Armand "Eddie" and Donald both of Stoughton, Laura Saints of DE, Ronald "Don" Lewis of CT and the late Tony Lessa. Mr. Lessa is also survived by his grandchildren, Julia and Alexander Sjoquist and Jonathon, Bradley and Morgan Lessa.

VIRGINIA M. (BROWN) GONSALVES

Virginia M. (Brown) Gonsalves, 82, died on Sunday, October 26 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Clarence V. Gonsalves. Born in Weymouth and educated at Sacred Heart School in Weymouth, Mrs. Gonsalves resided in Stoughton for the past 53 years. She was an assembler at JW Wood and the Kendall Co. in Stoughton and then Wehsco Inc. in Stoughton before retiring 20 years ago.
Mrs. Gonsalves is survived by her daughters, Rosemary M. Mancuso of Minnesota and Joanne P. Le of Stoughton as well as her grandchildren, Ernest Mello III, April M. Dougherty, Timothy Dougherty and Anh Marie Le and her great-grandson, Bradley M. Dougherty.

Margaret L. (Flaherty) Santos, 93, died Friday, October 24 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Anthony P. Santos. Born and educated in Boston schools, Mrs. Santos resided in Stoughton for over 30 years after living in Sharon for several years. She was Supervisor of Money Sorting at Federal Reserve Bank in Boston for 22 years before retiring in 1973. In her free time she enjoyed Bingo, watching the Red Sox and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Santos is survived by her daughter, Mary Homer of Stoughton and her grandchildren, John F. Homer of NYC and Catherine M. Homer of Stoughton. She is also survived by her niece, Mrs. Larry (Lois) Storace of Medford. In addition to her husband, Anthony, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Lillian Lynn and her brother, John Flaherty.

Jose F. DeAscensao, 70, died at home in Stoughton on Thursday, October 23 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Maria C. (Teixeira) DeAscensao. Born and educated in Portugal, Mr. DeAscensao came to Stoughton in 1967. He worked as a machine operator assistant at Chase & Sons in Randolph for over 20 years before retiring 6 years ago. He was a member of the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton.
In addition to his wife Maria, Mr. DeAscensao is survived by his daughters, Maria C. Medeiros of Stoughton and Monica T. Avelar of Berkley, as well as his sister, Teresa Sousa of Portugal. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

HELEN (KOZLOWSKI) FELOS

Helen (Kozlowski) Felos, 94, died on Thursday, October 23 at the Copley at Stoughton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Anthony P. Felos. Born in Poland, Mrs. Felos was educated in Hanover Schools and has resided in Stoughton for over 50 years. She was a housewife at home with her family and worked for 49 years with her husband at Twin-Kee Clothing in Stoughton. She was also a member of the Stoughton Historical Society, the Daughters of Italy in Stoughton and the Stoughton Art Association.
Mrs. Felos is survived by her children, Chester Gasunas and Elaine T. Ostrander both of Stoughton, Janet Jones of Marshfield and Anthony P. Felos, Jr. of Blanchard, ME. Along with her husband Anthony, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Kozlowski and her sister Anna Lemish. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great-granchildren.

Sheila M. (Moss) Campbell, 59, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Sunday at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of Fred M. Campbell. Born in Norwood, she was a graduate of Canton Schools. Mrs. Campbell worked at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton as the Activities Coordinator for the Adult Day Care Division for 14 years. She retired 6 years ago. She was a member of the Stoughton Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband Fred, she is survived by her sons: James W., Stoughton FD, of Avon, Fred M. Jr. and Chad J. both of Stoughton. She was the sister of David Moss of Brockton and Audrey Martin of Falmouth. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
