Lifelong No. Attleboro Resident
No. Attleboro - Jane E. Cloutier, 33, of Roxanne Square died Saturday, April 7, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

Born August 6, 1967 in Attleboro, she was the daughter of Arthur and Linda (Grimaldi) Cloutier of No. Attleboro.

Miss Cloutier was a resident of No. Attleboro all of her life.

She was a graduate of Tri County High School and would have graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Newbury College in May of 2001, completing all of her necessary course work last December.

She was the recipient of a scholarship from the National Kidney Foundation.

Besides her parents, survivors include a brother, John Cloutier and his wife Marisa of No. Attleboro; a grandfather, Patrick Grimaldi of No. Attleboro; a grandmother, Aurore Cloutier of No. Attleboro; a nephew, Brett Cloutier of No. Attleboro; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was niece of the late Aline Jeanneau.

A funeral was held from the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro on Tuesday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mark’s Church, 105 Stanley St., Attleboro Falls at 9 o’clock. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visiting hours were held on Monday from 5 - 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the No Attleboro Kids Day Fund c/o No. Attleboro Fire Dept., 50 Elm St., No. Attleboro, MA 02760.

Peter R. Dean, 69
Airforce Veteran of Korean Conflict
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Peter R. Dean, 69, of Hunting Street died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Beverly ( White ) Dean.

Born March 28, 1932 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late John and Elliot (Armitage) Dean.

Mr. Dean was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro and a 1950 graduate of North Attleboro High School.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Airforce having served during the Korean Conflict. He was an installer at the former New England Telephone Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in North Attleboro and the Veterans of Foreign War Post on Martha’s Vineyard.

Survivors include three daughters, Kimberly Cavalieri and Tracey Chretien, both of Attleboro Falls and Jane E. Walsh of Attleboro; two sons, Petter Dean and Bradford Dean, both of North Attleboro; two brothers, Ralph Dean of Haddonfield, NJ and David Dean of North Attleboro; 15 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Edward and John Dean.

A funeral service was held in the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro on Saturday, April 14th at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Maryalice Sullivan, pastor of Grace Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial took place privately in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Attleboro Falls.

George F. Desmarais, 78
Retired Fortifiber President
NORTH ATTLEBORO - George F. Desmarais, 78, of Old Wood Road died Tuesday evening, March 27, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Claire (Vandette) Desmarais.

Born July 19, 1922 in Attleboro, he was a son of the late Theodore and Emma (Therrien) Desmarais. Mr. Desmarais grew up in Attleboro and was a 1940 graduate of Attleboro High School.

Following graduation, he was a Cadet at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, but due to color blindness wasn’t able to become a pilot. Instead he became a navigator of the B-29 Bomber and was an Aerial Armament instructor in Topeka, KS.

Mr. Desmarais worked for Fortifiber, originally St. Regis Paper Mill, as Vice President. He worked several years for Fortifiber in Memphis, TN and subsequently became President of the company and was instrumental in bringing it to Attleboro. He retired as President of Glass-Kraft Papermill in Slatersville, RI in 1991. Mr. Desmarais has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1941.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, George A. Desmarais of North Attleboro; a daughter, Linda Stoltz of North Attleboro; five grandchildren, George A. Desmarais, Jr. , Holly Marcello, Brady Stoltz, Eric Stoltz and Jason Desmarais; also two great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held from SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Friday, March 30, 2001 at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Park Street at 9 a.m.

Ervin A. Estey, 75
U.S. Army Veteran of WWII
No. Attleboro - Ervin A. Estey, 75, of Ellis Road died Friday, April 6, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

He was the husband of Lovis (Evans) Estey.

Born May 14, 1925 in Mount Holly, Vermont, he was a son of the late Arthur O. and Leona (Shattuck) Estey.

Mr. Estey was a No. Attleboro resident for over 55 years. He was a 1943 graduate of the former Simmons Free High School in Warner, New Hampshire. He was a WWII United States Army veteran.

During his retirement, he worked for the Lorusso Corp. of Plainville as a part time parts runner , previously working there as a purchasing agent full time before retirement. Previoulsy, he was a general manager at Beauchaines Lumber of No. Attleboro for over 22 years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in No. Attleboro.

Mr Estey was an avid supporter of all No. Attleboro sports and music programs. He also loved to collect arrow heads and had a large collection of these..

Besides his wife of 55 years, survivors include a daughter, Christine Caron of No. Attleboro; four sons, Curtis Estey, Dwight Estey and Keith Estey, all of No. Attleboro and Paul Estey of Cumming, GA; two sisters, Gertrude Bradbury of Warner, NH and Betty Bradicich of FL and Nova Scotia and two brothers, Richard Estey of GA and Elwin “Skip” Estey Estey of Attleboro.

He was also survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was brother of the late Ruth Rabendaldt and Raymond, Allen, Philip and Kenneth Estey.

A funeral service was held in the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro on Tuesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. Burial followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, No. Attleboro.

Visiting hours were held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Estey’s memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 20 Hoppin Hill Ave., No. Attleboro, MA 02760.

Edna O. Fisher, 83
Plainville Stock Co. Retiree
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Edna O. Fisher, 83, of Circle Court died early Sunday morning, April 1, 2001 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the widow of Clarence Fisher.

Born November 23, 1917 in North Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Lucinda (Ringuette) Ouellette. She has lived in North Attleboro all her life.

Mrs. Fisher worked for Plainville Stock Co. for 20 years until her retirement in 1985 and was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church in Attleboro Falls and a member of St. Anne’s Sodality.

She is survived by a son, Mark Fisher of North Attleboro;
six sisters, Anita Peao of Pinehurst, NC
Bertha Slowey of North Attleboro
Lena Marcil of North Attleboro
Lillian Driscoll of Rockledge, FL
Jeanne Sanford of Norton
Lucille Quaranta of Ocala, FL;
three brothers, Albert Ouellette of North Attleboro
Roland Ouellette of Inverness, FL
and Francis Ouellette of North Attleboro
also 5 grandchildren and 46 nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Alice Suprenant, Ovila Ouellette and Edmond Ouellette.

A funeral was held from the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Mark’s Church, Attleboro Falls at 10 a.m. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

Clarence S. Harmon, 73
Marine Corps Veteran of WWII
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Clarence S. Harmon, 73, of North Attleboro died Monday, April 9, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Barbara (Hayes Lovejoy) Harmon and the former husband of Blanche (Everton Fontaine) Harmon of Attleboro.

Born December 26, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Brocker) Harmon.

Mr. Harmon was a resident of North Attleboro for over 50 years. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps serving most of his time in Hawaii. He was a maintenance painter at the Foxboro Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He then worked part-time as a parking attendant at FirstFed Bank in Attleboro for 7 years.

He was a member of the Bristol Masonic Lodge in North Attleboro and the American Legion Post in Foxboro. He was an avid sportsperson, enjoyed playing golf and loved to travel.

Besides his wife and former wife, survivors include two sons; Glenn C. Harmon of East Providence, and Leonard Harmon of Charlton, MA; two daughters, Karen Harmon of North Attleboro and Betty Barton of Plainville; five stepsons, Donald Fontaine of FL, Larry Fontaine of Attleboro, Richard Fontaine of Cumberland, David Lovejoy of Wrentham and Thomas Lovejoy of North Attleboro; three step-daughters, Sandra Sweeney of Attleboro, Colleen Price of Ohio and Donna Noviello of North Attleboro; one brother, Harry Harmon of Ohio; one half-sister, Doris Leonello of Ohio and one half-brother, Donald Freeman of Ohio. He was also survived by 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late James, Betty, and Glenn Harmon.

A funeral service was held in the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro on Thursday, April 12th at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Maryalice Sullivan, pastor of Grace Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial followed in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Attleboro Falls.

Margaret R. Ingham, 97

NEW BEDFORD - Margaret R. Ingham, 97, died Sunday morning, April 15, 2001 at the Sacred Heart Home in New Bedford.

She was the wife of the late George Ingham

Born September 14, 1903 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Augustus and Margaret (Bennet) Corea.

Mrs. Ingham was a resident of New Bedford most of her life.

She was a past-president of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxillary and member for over 50 years. She was a member of the South End Women’s Club for many years, where she was also a past-president and treasurer. She was also a member of many other clubs and associations in New Bedford for many years.

Her survivors include a granddaughter, Sandra Jones of New Bedford and two grandsons, Bruce and Wayne Ingham, both of Fairhaven. She was also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.

John William Kangas, 94

Fryeburg, ME and formerly of Maynard, MA - John William Kangas, 94, of Fryeburg, ME died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning.

He was born and lived in Maynard, MA and after retirement 1969 lived in Harwich, MA and moved to Fryeburg, ME in 1999.

During his life, he delivered milk to homes from a horse drawn wagon, was a marine deck hand and was a shipper for a chemical company. He was an avid gardener.

He was predeceased by his wife, Impi in 1996 and a grandson, Eric in 1990. He leaves his daughter, Joanna Nelson of Fryeburg, ME and a brother, Tauno of Yeleville AK, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

Private services were held.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Fryeburg Rescue Squad, Route 302, Fryeburg, ME 04037 in his name is suggested.

Dorothy M. Lightfoot, 70
PLAINVILLE, MA- Dorothy M. Lightfoot, 70, of Ft. Pierce, FL and Plainville, MA died at home in Florida on February 16, 2001 after a prolonged illness.

She was the wife of Paul Lightfoot for 31 years.

Born April 13, 1930 in Franklin, MA, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Sterns) Cochrane. She worked for 20 years at the Foxboro Co. as a secretary and later at Bliss Bros.

Mrs. Lightfoot was a member of the First Congregational Church of North Attleboro.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Vadala; a grandson, AJ Vadala III and a son, Keith Lightfoot all of North Attleboro; also a niece and a nephew.

She was mother of the late Linda Merriam and sister of the late James Cochrane.

A celebration of her life was held at the First Congregational Church of North Attleboro, Old Post Road, will be announced at a later date.
