Len Toy Eng
1898 - 2000
Len Toy Eng was born August 15, 1898 in Kee Fung Village, Taison, Kwangtung, China. She married Ben Soon Lee in 1916. Three years later, Ben Soon moved to the U.S. to work. He traveled back and forth between the U.S. and China every few years.
Her son Allen was born in 1923. She lived in Hong Mee village, China, in a house built by Ben Soon and his brother Ben Que until 1932. That year she and Allen moved to Hong Kong, where she lived for eight years. In December 1936, Allen moved to the U.S., a the age of 13 years old, to be with his father.
Len Toy remained in Hong Kong until 1940. That year, she moved back to China, where she and Ben Soon built a large two-story house. The Lee house at one time was considered the best in the village. It contained four bedrooms, large parlors, and two kitchens for cooking.
In 1947 after the World War II, Allen returned to China and one year later he married Mee Fong Tso. Allen lived with Len Toy in the Lee house in Hong Mee village until 1950. At that time he returned to the U.S. Mee Fong remained in China with Len Toy until 1954, when she moved to the U.S. to be with her husband.
Husband Ben Soon past away in September 1954 in the U.S. Len Toy remained in China until 1956. After the Communist took over in China and confiscated everything, she moved back to Hong Kong.
In 1956, granddaughter Rita was born. A year later, grandson George was born. Then in 1959, her second grandson Ed was born.
Len Toy remained in Hong Kong until October 1967, when she moved to the U.S. to live with Allen and his family in Boston. She played an integral part in the family, helping to raise her three grandchildren. One of her favorite activities was tending her vegetable garden, where she grew fresh Chinese vegetables each year. She also enjoyed cooking and eating.
She passed away in March 2000. She is survived by son Allen, his wife Mee Fong, three grandchildren, and three great granddaughters.
Mary Gelinas
1946 - 2000
Mary G. "Trudy" (Cerami) Gelinas, 53, of Litchfield, NH , died February 25, 2000, at her residence, after a period of declining health.
Born in Portsmouth, NH, on October 8, 1946, she was the daughter of Paul J. and Margaret (Keenan) Cerami. She resided in Litchfield , NH for the past sixteen years.
Mrs. Gelinas attended Saint Aquinas High School, Dover, NH and was a graduate of Immaculata High School, Manchester, NH. In 1988, she earned an associate degree, maga cum laude, in social services, from Castle Jr. College, Windham, NH. Mrs. Gelinas received her teaching degree from Rivier College, Nashua, NH, in 1994.
She was employed by the Manchester School District , Chapter I Program, for fifteen years. Most recently, she was a second grade teacher at Saint Anthony School, Manchester, for five years. She was a dedicated teacher who loved children and enjoyed working with them very much.
Mrs. Gelinas was a loving mother and wife who whose family was the center of her life. She was also very devoted to her grandchildren. Her interests included photography and spending time at the ocean.
Family members include: her husband of 34 years, Ronald R. Gelinas of Litchfield; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Lisa M.) Remington of Manchester, NH and Mrs. Christopher (Tina L.) Brien of Manchester, NH; three grandsons, Samuel R. Remington of Manchester, NH, Joseph A. Remington of Manchester, NH and Luke T. Brien of Manchester, NH; three brothers, James P. Cerami of Ashland, NH, Thomas R. Cerami of Brookline, NH, Paul J. Cerami of Naples, FLA.; three sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Kathleen M.) Daigle of Manchester, NH, Mrs. Timothy (Elaine M) Langton of Manchester, NH; Kristen A. Cerami of Concord, NH; several uncles; aunts; nieces; nephews; cousins.
Services: Calling hours at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester, NH, are Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM.
The funeral is Tuesday at 10: AM from the funeral home, followed by a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11AM in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Manchester, NH.
Following cremation, urn burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Eleanor Marquis
1916 - 2000
Eleanor E. Marquis, 83, of Manchester, NH, died February 27, 2000, at a local health care facility, after a long illness.
Born in Laconia, NH, on September 21, 1916, she was the daughter of Arthur and Nora (Trepanier) Corriveau.
Mrs. Marquis attended schools in Laconia, NH, and resided in Manchester for most of her life.
She worked as a function manager for the Dunfey Corporation at the Carpenter Hotel, Manchester, NH, and at the Sheraton Wayfarer Hotel, Bedford, NH, for many years. Later, she worked as a floral designer with Stache Florist until her retirement her retirement. She was very active in Manchester Ward Seven politics where she was elected selectman and moderator. She also worked vigorously on several presidential campaigns as Ward Seven Democratic chairman.
She was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, Manchester. She also was a past member of Saint Anne Church where she was very active with the ladies guild.
Mrs. Marquis enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had a special interest in crocheting, sewing and knitting.
Family members include: two sons, Claude C. Marquis of Bedford, NH and David T. Marquis of Manchester, NH; two daughter, Mrs. Roger (Claudette) Loos of Manchester, NH, and Marlene E. Murphy of Manchester, NH; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elmer Corriveau of Woonsocket, RI, Eli Corriveau of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Edgar Corriveau of Fort Myers, Florida; a sister, Emma Lucas of Gilford, NH; many nieces and nephews.

Burial will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.

Harold Kallenberg
1914 - 2000
Harold E. Kallenberg, 85, of Bedford, NH, died February 29, 2000, at a local health care facility, after a period of failing health.
Born in Manchester, NH, on June 1, 1914, he was the son of Frank and Anna (Thibodeau) Kallenberg. He resided in Manchester, NH for all of his life before moving to Bedford, NH in January.
Mr. Kallenberg graduated from Manchester High School Central, Class of 1932A.
Before his retirement, he was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He was affiliated with the Carpenters Union Local No. 625.
He was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Mr. Kallenberg was a loving and devoted husband and father whose family, particularly his grandchildren was the center of his life.
Family members include: his wife of 63 years, Mary (Gilbreth) Kallenberg of Bedford, NH; two sons, William H. Kallenberg of Manchester, NH, and Ronald R. Kallenberg of Littleton, Mass; a daughter, Suzanne M. Dupont of Manchester, NH, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Rhindress of Harwichport, Mass; several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Gaynor Thompson
1926 - 2000
Dorothy Gaynor Thompson, RN, 73, Village of Glenn Falls, Goffstown, NH, died June 17, 2000 at Elliot Hospital, after a sudden illness.
Born in Manchester, NH on October 22, 1926, she was the daughter of John and Anna (Donohue) Norberg. She resided in Manchester for most of her life before moving to Goffstown in 1987.
Mrs. Thompson graduated from Saint Joseph High School for Girls in 1944 and Mount Saint Mary College. Later, she received a nursing degree from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing.
She was an obstetric nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital for thirty years. Before her retirement, she worked with the Manchester Health Department as a school nurse at Manchester Memorial High School for twelve years.
Mrs. Thompson was a woman of many interests. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and was a member of the Twelve on Tap dance group. She was an avid traveler and crocheter. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years. She formed Manchester’s first Lamaze class for unwed mothers.
Mrs. Thompson was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she was active with the ladies guild. Most recently, she was a member of Saint Patrick Church.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose family was the center of her life.
She was married to Joseph Patrick Gaynor for thirty-one years; he died August 23, 1978. She was also predeceased by her husbands Andrew B. Thompson, Jr., and Harry Gressler.
Family members include her husband Robert Hanson of Goffstown, NH and South Portland, ME; six daughters, Ellen Gaynor Dionne of Amherst, NH, Patricia Gaynor Bergeron of Colorado Springs, CO, Susan Gaynor Jean of Manchester, NH, Deborah Gaynor Mijal of Goffstown, NH, Judith Gaynor Johnson of Goffstown, NH, Jo-Ann Gaynor Nealon of Bedford, NH, twelve granddaughters; three grandsons; one great-grandson; many nieces and nephews.

Lucienne St. Denis
1911 - 2000
Lucienne "Lucy" E. St. Denis, 89, of Manchester, NH, died June 26, 2000, at Catholic Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born in Amesbury, MA, on March 13, 1911, she was the daughter of Alphonse and Celestine (St. Hilaire) Fortin. She resided in Nashua, NH and Newport, NH before moving to Manchester many years ago.
Before her retirement, she worked as a shoe repairer with Evangeline Shoe Company for more than twenty years.
She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she was an active member of the parish Ladies Guild.
Mrs. St. Denis was loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandchildren whose family was the center of her life.
She was married to Arthur St. Denis for fifty-one years. He died June 25, 1988.
Family members include two daughters, Patricia Power of Merrimack, NH and Mrs. Richard (Jacqueline) Olson of Merrimack, NH; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
