Norman G. Auclair, 81
WWII Army Veteran
North Attleboro - Norman G. Auclair, 81, of No. Attleboro died early Monday, February 5, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Vergie F. (Alley) Auclair.
Born November 13, 1919 in Acushnet, he was a son of the late Ephram F. and Antonia (Simon) Auclair. Mr. Auclair was a resident of North Attleboro since 1956 and was a United States Army Veteran of WWII.
He worked as a maintenance person at Bird Machine in So. Walpole for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 64.
Mr. Auclair was a former member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks #1011, No. Attleboro and being an avid fisherman and hunter, he was also a member of the Independent Sportmen’s Club in Foxboro.
Besides his bride of 59 years, survivors include; two sons, Norman Auclair, Jr. of No. Attleboro and Brian Auclair of Attleboro; a daughter, Dianne Doble of No. Attleboro; three sisters, Ann Quintal of Santa Clara, CA, Rose Allen of New Bedford, and Alice Parent of Agawan, MA., 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Bo.
A funeral service was held on Thursday,February 8 at 11 A.M. in the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro with the Rev. James Fitzpatrick, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, No. Attleboro officiating. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.
Visiting hours were held on Wednesday, February 7, 2001 from 5 - 7 p.m. and Thursday morning for one hour prior to the service. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
Phillip Beard
Phillip Beard of Dorchester, died February 6, 2001.
He was son of the late James T. and Elizabeth (Lynch) Beard.
Brother of Paul Beard of Dorchester.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Friday afternoon, February 9, 2001 at 1:15 p.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne. Late computer operator at Harvard from 1954 - 1985.

Harriet M. Chamberlain, 75

ATTLEBORO - Harriet M. Chamberlain, 75, of Attleboro died Tuesday, January 16 in Ridgewood Court Nursing Home.
She was the widow of Charles Chamberlain.
Born December 21, 1925 in Canton, she was a daughter of the late Frederick G. and Dorothy (Cowan) Russell.
She has been a resident of Attleboro for the past 7 years and previously lived in North Attleboro 4 years and Mansfield 18 years. She grew up in Canton.
Mrs. Chamberlain worked 20 years at Nabisco in Mansfield before retiring at age 59. She loved animals and took in dozens of stray cats over the years.
Her survivors include a son, James Chamberlain of Attleboro;
2 brothers, James Russell of Attleboro and Donald Russell of Norton.
Also 3 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Interment was held in Vine Hill Cemetery
in Plymouth. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Leonora R. Collamati, 87
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Leonora R. Collamati, 87, of North Washington Street died Monday, February 12, 2001 in Madonna Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Hugo Collamati.
Born September 20, 1913 in Union City, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Cesira (Rigobello) Bonollo.
Mrs. Collamati has been a resident of Madonna Manor for the past three years. She resided in Woonsocket, RI for many years and from 1977 until 1987 lived in Indiana. She was a resident of Plainville from 1987 until 1997.
She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School in 1932 and graduated from The School of Commercial Sciences in Woonsocket in 1933.
She assisted her husband in the bookkeeping of Hugo’s Market on Diamond Hill Road in Woonsocket for many years. Prior to their marriage she worked as a secretary at Slatersville Finishing Company in Slatersville, RI. Mrs. Collamati was a member of the Mercymount Mothers’ Club and Mount St. Charles Academy Mothers’ Club and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Her survivors include a son, Dr. Ernest J. Collamati, a Professor at Regis College; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Mario "Mike" Bonollo.
A funeral was held from SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Saturday, February 17, 2001 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Church Street at 10 a.m. Burial followed in Precious Blood Cemetery, Woonsocket, RI.

Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Soldier’s Home, Chelsea.
George H. Curtis
PLAINVILLE - George H. Curtis, 91, a lifelong resident of Plainville died Sunday, January 7, 2001 in Ridgewood Court Nursing Home, Attleboro.
Born November 17, 1909 in Plainville, he was a son of the late George E. and Anna (Smith) Curtis.
Mr. Curtis was a graduate of Plainville High School and later the Rhode Island School of Design in 1939.
He worked as an artist for many local jewelry companies including Balfour and drove a school bus for many years in Plainville. He also owned and operated The Pine Shop woodworking shop in Plainville.
Mr. Curtis was a member of the Massachusetts Archaeological Society, was the last living charter member of the North Attleboro Historical Society and a former member of Grace Episcopal Church in North Attleboro.
He was also a proud member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
George’s survivors include two cousins, Pauline Barreis of High Point, NC and Nancy Lawrence of Sequim, WA.
A graveside service was held in Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.
Paul "Eddy" Fournier, 79
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Paul "Eddy" Fournier, 79, of North Attleboro died Monday evening, January 15, 2001 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
He was the widower of Hilda (Jacques) Fournier.
Born November 4, 1921 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Alcide and Marie (Plante) Fournier. He was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro and worked as a paper cutter for Fuller Box Company many years. He later drove a school bus for North Attleboro Public Schools for several years.
Mr. Fournier was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on several Destroyer ships.
He was a locksmith by hobby and was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church where he was married in 1942. He received the Marion medal through his distinguished service to the Catholic church, was involved in Cathlic charities and was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul and Holy Name societies through Sacred Heart.
He was also active in the Boy Scouts and received their Pavue Deiu award.
His survivors include three daughters, Marie L. Sheldon of North Attleboro, Anne Simoneau of North Attleboro and Linda Dagesse of Cumberland, RI; a brother, Joseph Gerard Fournier of Taunton and was grandfather of 9 and survived by many nieces and nephews. He was brother to 8 late brothers and sisters.
A funeral was held from SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Friday, January 20th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Robert U. Fredette, 74
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Robert U. Fredette, 74, of Elm Terrace died Friday morning, January 26, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
He was the husband of Phyllis J. (Kudrnac) Fredette.
Born August 23, 1926 in Attleboro, he was a son of the late Rosario J. and Delima (Godbout) Fredette.
Mr. Fredette has been a resident of North Attleboro for the past 18 years, previously living his entire life in Attleboro.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of the Attleboro VFW Post #115. He was a shipper for the T.J. Holmes Co. of Chartley for over 20 years before his retirement in 1990.
Mr. Fredette was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and played the drums with several area jazz musicians.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Dana and his wife, Roxanne Fredette of North Attleboro, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated on Monday, January 29th at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Attleboro. Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.
