Joseph P. Geary, 87
Centerville - Joseph P. Geary, 87, formerly of Marstons Mills, died March 12, 2002, at Harbor Point of Centerville Assisted Living.
He was the husband of the late Mary T. (Paragham) Geary.
Mr. Geary was born in the Hell's Kitchen section of Bronx, N.Y. He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in communications.
He was a member of the Building Services Union in New York City and worked in several commercial properties, retiring in 1978.

Elvira E. Hatch, 89
Hyannis - Elvira E. (Ericson) Hatch, 89, a resident of Hyannis and formerly of Scituate, died March 13, 2002.
She is survived by five daughters, Lois, Helen, Evelyn, Doris and Judith; a son, Hector; a sister, Florence; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Ruth M. Jacques, 86
Centerville - Ruth M. (Wiley) Jacques, 86, of Centerville, formerly a longtime resident of Hyannisport, died March 12. 2002.
She was the wife of the late Wendell F. Jacques, an architect.
An accomplished artist, Mrs. Jacques collaborated with her husband in the design of many new homes from Milton to Cape Cod, including several at New Seabury. They also specialized in remodeling antique Cape Cod houses, such as the Lamb and Lion Bed & Breakfast in West Barnstable.
Mrs. Jacques loved animals and was an activist on their behalf all her life.
Surviving are two sons, Wendell F. Jacques Jr. of Rockport and Barry E. Jacques of Centerville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Allan Francis Jones, 80
Barnstable - Allan Francis Jones, 80, a resident of Barnstable, died March 15, 2002, at the Royal Nursing Center in Falmouth.
Mr. Jones was the husband of the late Betty Ann Lowry and the late Betty White Jones.
He was born in Marstons Mills, and was a 1939 graduate of Barnstable High School. He graduated from the Bordentown Military Academy in 1940. Mr. Jones enlisted in the Army and served in World War II from 1942 to 1944 in the military police.
Elected as representative to the state Legislature In 1948 at the age of 26, he served 14 years in the House and eight years as senator for Cape Cod and the Islands and the Plymouth District.
He was a Republican floor leader beginning in 1958, and was the ranking member of his party on the Ways and Means Committee. He never lost a bill he sponsored.
Among his efforts to improve education were legislation for a reorganization of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, placing it within the state college system; funding for building the Cape Cod Community College campus in West Barnstable; establishment of a regional vocational school; creation of a fire training school for Barnstable County, the first of its kind in the state; and leadership in the fight to defeat legislation that would have resulted in the loss of $1.6 million in state education aid to the Cape.
Mr. Jones helped establish a drug abuse treatment center in Barnstable County.
Other achievements included serving on a state commission that selected the JFK Library as the most appropriate memorial to the late president, a bill making the Otis Air Force Base a permanent facility, and the "Good Samaritan Law," which exempts doctors who aid accident vitims from possible civil suits.
Mr. Jones also served on the Barnstable Airport Commission.
A lifelong resident of Barnstable, he enjoyed spending summers in Edgartown and winters in Stowe, Vt.
He was a member of many local clubs and civic organizations and was an accomplished pilot, sailor and skier. He was also an avid reader and collector of marine antiques.
He is survived by one son, Stephen Jones of Stowe, Vt.; three daughters, Candace Schulenberg, Jey Smith and Holly Heaslip, all of Barnstable; two brothers, Charles Jones of Cummaquid and Phillip Jones of Arizona; two sisters, Harriet Swift of Barnstable and Ruth Alvezi of Sandwich; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held today at 4 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Barnstable on Route 6A.

Argentina 'Tena' Miller, 91
Barnstable - Argentina M. "Tena" (Scagliarini) Miller, 91, a resident of Barnstable, died March 12, 2002, at Cape Heritage Nursing Home in Sandwich after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Russell A. Miller.
Born in Bologna, Italy, she moved to Plymouth at the age of 1 and to Barnstable Village in 1946, where she lived until the time of her death. She attended high school.
Mrs. Miller was the owner of the Barnstable news store known as "Miller's" from 1947 to 1986.
She loved to garden, gamble and play bingo.
Surviving are a son, Russell A. Miller of Vero Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

Mary Monteiro, 80
Hyannis - Mary (Robbins) Monteiro, 80, a resident of Hyannis, died March 23, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Monteiro was raised and educated in New Bedford. She moved to Cape Cod and began working as a domestic housekeeper.
She also worked for King's Department Store for 20 years, and was also employed at the CVS Pharmacy at the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis for 17 years before retiring in 2001.
She enjoyed attending dances.
Mrs. Monteiro is survived by a son, Marcellino Charles "Rob" Robbins of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Priscilla Bazilio, of Hyannis; a brother, Julio Robbins Jr. of Nantucket; a sister, Leonora Gaspie of Nantucket; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial followed in Oak Neck Cemetery.

Russell D. Ockerbloom, 77
Centerville - Russell D. Ockerbloom, 77, a resident of Centerville, died March 14, 2002, at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Shirley M. (Beech) Ockerbloom for 55 years.
Raised and educated in Worcester, Mr. Ockerbloom enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served in the South Pacific.
He owned and operated the Russell Ockerbloom Insurance Agency in Worcester for many years.
In 1969, Mr. Ockerbloom relocated to Hyannis, where he was employed by the Postal Service, retiring in 1990.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Gerald Ockerbloom of Marshfield and Thomas Ockerbloom of Hyannisport; two daughters, Donna Withrow of Orleans and Cindy Byers of Katy, Texas ; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Julia B. Paulat, 87
Centerville - Julia (Bacchiochi) Paulat, 87, a resident of Centerville, died March 9, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Fla.
She was the wife of the late Frederick W. Paulat.
Born in Needham, Mrs. Paulat was a resident of Centerville for more than 35 years. For many years, she was the owner and operator of the Bon Repose furniture store in Hyannis.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ann Guidrey Rote, 79
Cotuit - Ann Guidrey Rote, 79, of Cotuit and Wayland and formerly of Needham, Wayland and Sarasota, died March 12, 2002, at Wayside Hospice at Traditions of Wayland after an illness with lung cancer.
She was the wife of the late William Aidan Rote.
Mrs. Rote was a native of Watertown and summered in Gloucester. She graduated from Watertown public schools and from the Katharine Gibbs School. She worked with the war production board and in the Frances Guidrey stationery business before her marriage.
She devoted her life to her family and home. Her volunteer work included Florence Crittenton League, Glover Memorial Hospital and serving as a "Doric Dame" tour guide at the Massachusetts Statehouse.
She enjoyed tennis, gardening, travel and spending time with friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann "Nancy" Chatham Rote of Lincoln; a son, William Aidan Rote Jr. of Northboro; three sisters, Frances Hayes of Rockville, Md., Katherine Headrick of Freeland, Wash., and Virginia Lowe of Everett, Wash.; two brothers, Joseph J. Guidrey of Silver Spring, Md., and Philip R. Guidrey of Osterville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 16 nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Richard G. Rote.
A funeral was held at John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills, followed by burial in Mosswood Cemetery
in Cotuit.
