Eileen M. Lymneos, 81
Osterville Eileen M. Lymneos, 81, of Boston and Osterville, died March 12, 2002, in Stoughton.
She was the loving wife of Paul Lymneos for more than 59 years.
Mrs. Lymneos was born in Boston and raised in Lynn and Revere. She met her husband while working as a waitress in his father's restaurant.
She summered in Osterville for 44 years until making it her permanent home in 1999,
Mrs. Lymenos worked in the Blueprint Room at the Charlestown Navy Yard during World War II. She was a licensed hairdresser as well.
She was active with the Lions Club of Parkway-Boston during her husband's presidency.
She loved reading, and watching all sports.
Mrs. Lymneos spent many happy years, first with her children, then her grandchildren, roaming the beaches of Cape Cod searching for shells that she turned into creative gifts for family and friends.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving children Paula (Lymneos) Soltia of Mashpee, Steven Lymneos of Quincy and Michael Lymneos of Raymond, Maine; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Osterville. Interment followed at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery
in Centerville.
Ellen A. McBarron
Hyannis - Ellen A. McBarron of West Hyannisport died March 9, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of John W. McBarron for 46 years.
Born in Boston and raised in Brighton, Mrs. McBarron attended Boston public schools and worked as a secretary at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. of Boston.
In 1960, after she and her husband moved to West Yarmouth, Mrs. McBarron worked at the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Hyannis.
In 1962, she moved to West Hyannisport, where she lived for the last 40 years and raised her family.
Mrs. McBarron was employed as a teacher's aide at the Hyannis East Elementary School and as head custodian at the Barnstable Middle School and Marstons Mills Elementary School, retiring in 1998.
She was also president of the Hyannis Junior Women's Club for one year in the mid-1960s.
In 1974, Mrs. McBarron was appointed as a commissioner to the Barnstable Recreation Department and served in that capacity for 26 years, the last 12 as chairperson.
She was also a member of the Sandy Neck Advisory Board, the Kennedy Memorial Trust Committee, the Hyannis Civic Association and an elected town meeting member.
Mrs. McBarron was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis for more than 40 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, John E. McBarron of New Bern, N.C.; her daughter, Karen E. Foote of Manchester, N.H.; a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial followed at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
Ilmi Otilia Nickerson, 91
Yarmouthport - Ilmi (Renkainen) Otilia Nickerson, 91, a resident of Yarmouthport, died March 10, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community in Hyannis after a brief illness.
Mrs. Chase was born and raised in West Barnstable, and was a lifelong resident of the Cape.
She was the mother of the late Henry L. Nickerson and Mary F. White .
She is survived by a niece, Donna Strusse of Yarmouthport; a great-grandson, Wayne Leite of Hyannis; and four great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service was held in Ancient Cemetery
in Yarmouthport.
William F. Petersen, 70
West Barnstable - William F. Petersen, 70, a resident of West Barnstable, died March 10, 2002, at his home.
He was the husband of Marjorie (Brown) Petersen of West Barnstable.
Born in Boston, Mr. Petersen graduated from St. Columbkille High School and received an associate's degree from Northeastern University.
He enlisted in the Navy for four years as a Class A aircraft carrier radioman.
Mr. Petersen lived in Bedford for 27 years before moving to West Barnstable, where he lived for 10 years until the time of his death. He was an industrial engineer with Raytheon Corp. for 25 years. After his retirement, he worked at Anderson Hardware in Centerville.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to read, enjoyed golf and, in particular, loved St. Martin.
Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Tracey Connors of Groveland, Sharon Petersen of Lunenburg, Kerry Chase of Bedford and Heidi Storer of Lunenburg; two sisters, Ann Hartley of Framingham and Mary Frances Patch of Attleboro; three granddaughters; a grandson; and five nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Church in West Barnstable.
Burial will be at a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.

Martha M. Scharffe, 91
Yarmouthport - Martha M. Scharffe, 91, a resident of Yarmouthport, died March 2, 2002.
She was the wife of the late Walter Scharffe.
Born in Germany, she moved to the United States at the age of 16. She and her husband were the original owners of the Cummaquid Inn. Mrs. Scharffe was a member of a breakfast group that met at Jack's Outback in Yarmouthport for 24 years.
She enjoyed reading and watching the birds in her yard.
She is survived by a grandson, Joseph Michalsky of Yarmouthport.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. March 27 in Ancient Cemetery
in Yarmouth.

Mary Louise Shields, 56
Osterville - Mary Louise (Barrows) Shields, 56, a resident of Osterville, died March 15, 2002, at home.
Mrs. Shields was born in Hyannis and was a graduate of the Sacred Heart School in Kingston.
For 22 years, she worked for Intercity Alarms in administrative sales.
She enjoyed writing and playing the guitar.
Mrs. Shields is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Shields of Naples, Fla., and Scott S. Shields of Osterville; a daughter, Lisa O'Connor of New Ross, Co. Wexford, Ireland; two brothers, John J. Barrows of Raleigh, N.C., and James R. Barrows of Lowell; five sisters, Alyce Day and Elizabeth Downey of Centerville, Joan Leeman of Plymouth, Judie Scofield of Mashpee and Donna Bowman of South Yarmouth; and four grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville.
Burial followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery
in Centerville.

Eleanor S. 'Gram' Starck, 78
Centerville - Eleanor S. "Gram" (Wilson) Starck, 78, a resident of Centerville, died March 14, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was the wife of Robert Starck, who died in 1985.
Born in New Bedford, raised and educated in North Adams, Mrs. Starck moved to the Cape in the early 1940s and worked at Camp Edwards during World War II.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Hyannis Sand & Gravel and Independence Park for more than 30 years. She also worked with her family at Wimpy's restaurant.
Mrs. Starck was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church and enjoyed time with her family.
Surviving are a son, Robert E. Starck of Centerville; a daughter, Karen Siscoe of Centerville; a brother, William H. Wilson Jr. of Spring Hill, Fla.; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, with burial in Beechwood Cemetery
there.

Beatrice M. Whiting, 98
Hyannis - Beatrice M. (Walker) Whiting, 98, formerly of Chatham and South Yarmouth, died March 10, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Rennold W. Whiting.
Born in Saylesville, R.I., Mrs. Whiting graduated from Passaic New Jersey High School and Montclair Teachers College.
For several years, she taught school until her marriage. Living in Glen Rock, N.J., she did volunteer work for the blood bank during World War II and was a certified Braillist.
In 1950, she moved to Garden City, Long Island, N.Y. While there, she was a member of The Cathedral, Garden City Garden Club, Cherry Valley Country Club and Naussau Hospital Aid.
She and her husband retired to Chathamport in 1967. In Chatham, she was a member of St. Christopher's Church, Chatham Garden Club, Hospital Aid, Eastward Ho! Country Club and Chatham Historical Society.
She moved to Thirwood Place in South Yarmouth in 1993.
She was the mother of twin sons, the late Rennold Whiting Jr. and the late Ronald Whiting.
Surviving are seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other family members.
A memorial service was held at St. Christopher's Church in Chatham.
