A. Jeannette Tripp, 98
Peterborough, N.H. A. Jeanette (Simpson) Tripp, 98, who lived on Cape Cod until 1992, died at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Jaffrey, N.H., on Dec. 27, 2001.
She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Tripp, who died in 1941.
Born in Winthrop, Mrs. Tripp was a graduate of Mt. Holyoke College and taught English and other subjects in Yarmouth from the 1940s to the 1960s. For 30 summers, she was the hostess at the Hyannisport Civic Association Beach Club.
Mrs. Tripp was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and a church organist and choir director.
She is survived by two sons, Charles W. of Dennis and John H. of Monte Sereno, Calif; her daughter, Ann Webb of Peterborough, N.H.; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph E., and a daughter, Patricia Ingraham.
A funeral was held at Trinity Evangelical Church in Peterborough, with burial in Pine Hill Cemetery
there.

Michael P. Circello Sr., 83
Hyannis - Michael P. Circello Sr., 83, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 12, 2002, at Windsor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in South Yarmouth.
He was the husband of the late Edith (DeColibus) Circello.
Mr. Circello was born in Taunton and raised and educated in Brockton.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army with Company C, 289th Engineer Combat Battalion, in Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Bronze Star and many other medals during his military service. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1945.
Mr. Circello worked for Rulands Electric Co. in California until his retirement in 1980, when he moved to Hyannis. He had a passion for baseball and boxing, and enjoyed coin collecting.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Circello of Las Vegas, Nev., and Michael Circello Jr. of Hawaii; a daughter, Deborah M. Quist of Yarmouthport; four grandchildren; and one niece.
A funeral was held at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in South Dennis, with burial following in the Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.

Elizabeth A. Cuddy, 91
Waltham - Elizabeth A. Cuddy, 91, a resident of Waltham and formerly of Hyannis, died Jan. 7, 2002, at Meadow Green Rehab & Nursing Center in Waltham.
She was the wife of Edmund F. Cuddy, who died in February 2000.
Born, raised and educated in Hudson, N.Y., Mrs. Cuddy graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1927. She graduated from State University of New York at New Paltz, N.Y., in 1930 and taught school in Hudson, N.Y., for eight years before marrying in 1938.
Mrs. Cuddy moved to Pelham Manor, N.Y., in 1942 and was a substitute teacher in the Pelham and New Rochelle, N.Y., school systems.
She moved to Hyannis in 1972 and became a substitute teacher at Barnstable elementary schools.
Mrs. Cuddy was an active member of Missionary Cenacle Apostolate and also volunteered at Cape Cod Hospital's gift shop for more than five years.
Surviving are a son, Dennis C. Cuddy of White Plains, N.Y.; three daughters, Jane E. Lynch of Winchester, Ellen M. Mathewson of Barnstable and Mary M. McGlinn of Monroe, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, with burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery
there.

Dorothy E. Guiliani, 90
North Attleboro - Dorothy E. (Woodman) Guiliani, 90, a resident of North Attleboro and former Hyannis resident, died Jan. 6, 2002, at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Sharon.
She was the wife of Michael Guiliani, who died in 1974.
Born in Canton, Mrs. Guiliani previously lived in Hyannis for 17 years. Before moving to Cape Cod, she lived in Arlington for many years. She was a 1930 graduate of Somerville High School.
Mrs. Guiliani was a collector for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority in Boston from 1942 until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of the MBTA Pensioners Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Claudia A. Lyons of North Attleboro; two sons, Paul D. Guiliani of North Attleboro and Michael J. Guiliani of Billerica; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery
in Peabody.

Janet T. Hynes
Hyannis - Janet T. Hynes, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 7, 2002, at the Greenery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the wife of Richard W. Hynes for 39 years.
Born in Wollaston, after high school, Mrs. Hynes attended Emmanuel College in Boston, majoring in language.
She went on to teach French at the Manter-Hall School in Cambridge, and at the Manter-Hall Summer School in Hyannis. She also ran their college admissions service program that proved very successful.
She enjoy sailing as well as cooking.
Surviving besides her husband are a brother Dr. James Elliott Taylor; a sister, Carol Churchill; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.

Joseph LaMar, 99
Hyannis - Joseph LaMar, 99, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 7, 2002, at his home.
He was the husband of Enid (Alleyne) LaMar of Hyannis and Ontario, Canada, and Mildred LaMar who died in 1965.
Born, raised and educated in Atlanta, Ga., Mr. LaMar served in the Army during World War II.
He worked as an auto mechanic all his life, both as an owner and for other companies. Mr. LaMar was a member of the American Legion, was an avid hunter and enjoyed sports and fishing.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mattie-Joe LaMar of Atlanta, Ga.; a stepson, Yan Michael Vincent of Ontario, Canada; a stepdaughter, Diane Vincent of Ontario, Canada; a brother, John LaMar of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, with burial following in Mosswood Cemetery
in Cotuit.

Francis Edward Levine, 71
Valley Center, Calif., - Francis Edward Levine, 71, a resident of Valley Center and formerly of Barnstable, died Dec. 22, 2001.
He was the husband of Frances E. Levine who died in 1997.
Born in Woodstock, Vt., Mr. Levine graduated from Barnstable High School in 1948. He worked for Maxwell Labs Inc. as a principal engineer and physicist, retiring in 1998.
Mr. Levine served in the Air Force.
He was a member of the California State Sheriffs Association.
Surviving are four daughters, Deborah Levine of El Dorado Hills, Calif., Denise Weddle of Valley Center, Annette Levine of San Jacinto, Calif., and Andrea Swartz of Brenham, Texas ; a son, Michael Levine of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Sprague of Hyannis; a brother, John J. Levine Jr. of Osterville; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at McLeod Mortuary in Escondido.

Robert W. Sherman, 73
Centerville - Robert W. Sherman, 73, a native Cape Codder, died Jan. 10, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Priscilla (Gaffney) Sherman of Centerville for 34 years and the late Lois E. (Randall) Sherman, who died in 1966.
Born, raised and educated in Hyannis, Mr. Sherman graduated from Barnstable High School in 1946.
He enlisted in the Army and served with the 20th Infantry during the Korean War.
After being discharged from the Army, he went to Boston University, transferred to Bryant College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business accounting.
Mr. Sherman started his own public accounting business in Hyannis. He moved the practice to Yarmouthport and then to Dennis, where the business is continuing under the name Sherman & Kelly CPA. He retired in 1989.
Mr. Sherman lived in Yarmouth until moving to Centerville in 1984.
A lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Hyannis, he served in many capacities and on many boards at the church.
He was a member of the Harwich-Dennis Rotary Club and Hyannis Rotary Club for 25 years and a member of Howard Lodge AF&AM in Yarmouth.
He enjoyed travel, golf and spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, C. Randall Sherman of West Yarmouth and Rod Sherman of Dennis; a daughter, Nancy Sherman of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers, Walter Alden Sherman of New Lenox, Ill., and Carl F. Sherman of Centerville; and four grandchildren;

Helen Tufts, 83
Hyannis - Helen (Jansen) Tufts, 83, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 7, 2002, at Cape Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Centerville.
She was the wife of the late Sidney Tufts.
Mrs. Tufts was born in Pittsfield. She moved to Hyannis in 1980 after living in Pittsfield and Northampton for many years.
In addition to favorite pastimes of sewing and reading, she prided herself on having an extensive vocabulary, which she regularly demonstrated by beating family members at games of Scrabble and Upwords.
Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Tufts of Hyannis, Penelope Tufts of Barnstable and Candace Gross of Woodstock, Ga.; two sons, Sidney Tufts of Carlsbad, Calif., and Christopher Tufts of Sutton and Mashpee; two sisters, Lorraine Mueller of Maryland and Doris Golden of Shrewsbury; a brother, William Jansen of Pittsfield; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis Assmus
Cotuit - Phyllis (Lavalle) Assmus, a resident of Cotuit, died Jan. 4, 2002.
She was the wife of the late retired Col. Edward Assmus.
Born in Newton, Mrs. Assmus was stationed with her husband in Japan and France during the 1940s and 1950s.
She always said how happy she was to have finally come to live in Cotuit. She was a well-known figure in town, walking daily with her dog, first Rosie and then Gizmo, through the village and along the beaches, stopping to talk to anyone she met.
She is survived by a son, Carl Assmus; and two grandchildren, Ivy and Michael.

Dennis A. Boyd Jr., 32
Hyannis - Dennis A. Boyd Jr., 32, a resident of Hyannis and a native Cape Codder, died unexpectedly Jan. 15, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital.
Born in Hyannis, Mr. Boyd was educated in Barnstable schools and at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich.
He worked for Bay State Gas and was a house painter for Stewart Painting, Duchesney Painting and Gray Painting. He also did commercial shellfishing.
He is survived by his mother, Kathleen A. (Rood) Perry of Hyannis; his stepfather, Raymond C. Perry of Hyannis; his fiancee, Carol V. Bohne of Hyannis; a stepsister, Joyce Miller of New Jersey; three stepbrothers, Raymond C. Perry Jr. of Hyannis, Ronald B. Perry of Hyannis and Jeffrey J. Perry of West Yarmouth; two aunts; and many cousins.
A celebration of his life was held in the family home in Hyannis.
