Edith Frances Lema, 85

Hyannis - Edith Frances Lema, 85, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 18, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Jesse Lema.
Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth Dickey of Wellfleet, Sharon Stewart of Dennis and Jane Lavallee of Brewster; a sister, Helen Peters of Provincetown; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Janice Doyle.
A memorial service was held at Victory Chapel in Hyannis.

James R. Pelkey, 72

Marstons Mills - James R. Pelkey, 72, a resident of Marstons Mills and formerly of Stoughton, died Nov. 20, 2001, at his home of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
He was the husband of Maureen (Keeley) Pelkey of Marstons Mills.
Born in Proctor, Vt., Mr. Pelkey graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in civil engineering. He was a second lieutenant in the ROTC at Northeastern.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Pelkey worked for 27 years at C.E. Maguire Inc., Architects, Engineers and Planners in Waltham. While at Maguire's, he served as assistant vice president, and operations manager for the architectural division, and then vice president and director of international operations. In this capacity, he traveled extensively to Africa and the Middle East.
In 1986, he moved to Marstons Mills and joined Schofield Brothers Inc. as manager of engineering in the company's Orleans office.
Mr. Pelkey was invited to attend a dinner with President Carter at the White House.
While a resident of Stoughton, he served on the Urban Re-Development Authority.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Debra M. Creem of Medford and Maureen A. Trudnak of North Easton; a son, James J. Pelkey of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Marie Dubrevil of Nashua, N.H., and Barbara Kingsley of Lancaster, N.H.; and five grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

Vassil L. Psilekas, 86

Marlborough - Vassil L. Psilekas, 86, a resident of Marlborough and former resident of Yarmouthport, died Nov. 19, 2001, at UMass Health System-Marlboro Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Athena (Exarhopoulos) Psilekas for 61 years.
Born in Brockton, Mr. Psilekas graduated from Brockton High School, attended Northeastern University and graduated from the University of Maryland.
He was a career Army officer for more than 22 1/2 years, reaching the rank of major.
He served in World War II and saw action in Italy.
He also served in Guam and the Philippines, and served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring in 1965.
He then worked for the U.S. government at Fort Devens in housing management, retiring in 1978.
Mr. Psilekas was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville and a member of Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church in Marlborough, where he served many years as president and secretary of the parish board of directors.
He was a life member of Nicholas Granitsas Chapter 105 Order of the Ahepa of Marlborough and was also secretary of Chapter 3483 Order of the Ahepa in Hyannis.
Mr. Psilekas was a member of the U.S. Army Officers Association and a member of the senior citizens group at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. He was an avid coin and stamp collector.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Ann Boyaval of Waltham and Carol Dragstedt of Marlborough; a brother, James L. Psilekas of Brockton; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held at St. Mary's Church in Marlborough. Burial with military honors followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, corner of Cashman and Central streets, Marlborough, MA 01752; or to St. George Greek Orthodox Church Cross of Life Fund, 1130 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632.

Gerald C. Quinn, 82

Hyannis - Gerald C. Quinn, 82, of Hyannis, died Nov. 22, 2001, at Cape Heritage Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was the husband of Florence M. Kestley.
Mr. Quinn grew up in Elkton, S.D. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University. He began his career in 1939 in the graduate engineer training program with Allis-Chalmers in Milwaukee, Wis. After earning his degree, he continued with Allis-Chalmers as a production test foreman. Later, he was the editor of Electrical Review and a supervisor of industrial relations.
During World War II, Mr. Quinn worked on the Manhattan Project. He also lectured widely and conducted seminars related to troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment.
In 1958, Mr. Quinn and his family moved to Mahwah, N.J., where he was employed by McGraw-Hill Publishing Co. in New York City. He was recognized for outstanding journalism as associate editor of Factory Magazine and later with Electrical Construction and Maintenance. He retired in the late 1970s.
He was a lifetime member of IEEE and recognized for many years of service as editor of the Industrial Applications Society newsletter.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Gerald of Cypress, Calif., James of Santa Barbara, Calif., Peter of Harvard, and Joseph of Springfield, Pa.; five daughters, Kathleen Davenport of Lancaster, Ohio, Joan Bartle of Wrentham, Mary Pope of Concord, Monica Quinn of Chicago, Ill., and Sarah Quinn Mouraviev of North Chelmsford; a sister, Margaret Mary Gross of Bowie, Md.; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Thomas, John, and John Paul Quinn.
A funeral Mass was celebated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial followed in St. Francis Cemetery in Centerville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Cape Cod, P.O. Box 95, Barnstable, MA 02630.

Gloria W. Race, 72

Centerville - Gloria W. (Deveau) Race, 72, a resident of Centerville, died unexpectedly Nov. 19, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was the wife of Eugene E. Race.
Born, raised and educated in Natick, Mrs. Race lived in Framingham for many years and worked as a bookkeeper for approximately 15 years for the Framingham Country Club.
Mrs. Race moved to the Cape in 1992 and lived in Centerville for the past five years.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Surviving besides her husband are her mother, Ethel (Elliott) Deveau of Framingham; two sons, William E. Race of Marlboro and Lee M. Race of Virginia Beach, Va.; four daughters, Roxane M. Lyons and Kim A. Campbell, both of Framingham, and Robin J. Acker and Kathryn M. Larsson, both of Centerville; three brothers, Joseph A. Deveau and John F. Deveau, both of Framingham, and Raymond M. Deveau of Boca Raton, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Juanita Y. Reavis, 92

Boston - Juanita Yvonne Reavis, 92, a resident of Boston and Hyannis, died Nov. 15, 2001.
Born in Framingham and raised in West Yarmouth and Hyannis, Ms. Reavis completed high school and then earned a teaching degree from Hyannis Normal School.
She was a private cook, primarily for the late Dr. Dwight Harken and family for approximately 30 years.
Ms. Reavis took great pride in her family.
Surviving are her companion, Robert Hill; a daughter, Mary E. Hill; a sister, Harriett McClain; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
A graveside service was held in Oak Neck Cemetery in Hyannis.

Frank A. Snyder, 89

Hyannis - Frank A. Snyder, 89, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 19, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community-Pavilion in Hyannis after a long illness.
He was the husband of Frances (Liberman) Snyder.
Born in Brockton, Mr. Snyder was a resident of Brockton until moving to the Cape in 1992. He graduated from Brockton High School, Temple University and Middlesex School of Podiatry.
Mr. Snyder was a podiatrist with a practice in Brockton.
He was a founding member of Temple Beth Emunah, Brockton, and also active in the now defunct YMHA and YWHA.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Edward Snyder; a daughter, Ellen Enright; a sister, Ruth Snyder; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral was held at Schlossberg & Solomon Memorial Chapel in Canton. Burial was in Sharon Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
