Kenneth Belsito, 77
Hyannis - Kenneth Belsito, 77, of Hyannis, died June 9, 2001, at his home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Irene E. (Rousseau) Belsito.
During World War II, he enlisted at age 17, serving as a damage control crew chief on the USS North Carolina, which was in numerous major campaigns in the Pacific, including Guadalcanal, the Gilbert and Marshall islands, Luzon, Iwo Jima and Japan.
A native of Grafton, Mr. Belsito worked for nearly 50 years as a design engineer at several Massachusetts firms, retiring at age 73. He was an inventive man, and held three patents on his mechanical devices. In addition to many practical machines, he designed some fanciful one-of-a-kind items, such as a semi-automatic grilled-cheese sandwich maker.
He was an all-around handyman at home, and an impeccable woodworker and carpenter, building everything from cabinets to complete houses.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Peter S. Belsito of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; two daughters, Ann R. Belsito of Sandwich and Elaine Belsito of Cambridge; a granddaughter; five nieces; four nephews; eight great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Funeral services were private.

Jay H. Buffington, 61
Marstons Mills - Jay H. Buffington, 61, of Marstons Mills, died at home June 8, 2001, after an illness.
He was the husband of Georgette (Campbell) Buffington of Marstons Mills.
He was born in Fall River, and raised and educated there. He was a graduate of Durfee High School in Fall River.
Mr. Buffington was the owner and operator of Jay's Restaurant in Quincy, and manager of Sandy's Restaurant in Sandwich and South Yarmouth. He worked in the yard at Botello Lumber in Mashpee.
He was a member of the Fetherdic Tennis Club, Fall River. As a youth, he was active in the Fall River Little League, and once pitched four no-hitters in one season.
He was an expert pool player, and played an exhibition match with world champion pool player Willie Mosconi.
He loved the outdoors, and was a beekeeper.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his mother, Janice (Borden) Buffington of Fall River; two daughters, Ann Elizabeth Buffington of Hyannis and Deborah Alexis Buffington of Marstons Mills; two sons, Scott Campbell Buffington of South Dennis, and Richard Borden Buffington II of Cotuit; three brothers, Richard B. Buffington of Somerset, Peter D. Buffington of Portsmouth, R.I., and Mark C. Buffington of Houma, La.; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service was held in Mosswood Cemetery
in Cotuit.

James Freeland Butler, 79
Centerville James Freeland Butler Jr., 85, of Centerville, died June 6, 2001, at his home.
He was the husband of the late Katherine H. Butler, who died in 1994. They were married for 50 years.
He was born and raised in Worcester, and was a graduate of Worcester North High School and Becker Business College.
He began his professional career with American Steel & Wire in Worcester, and in 1954, was transferred to Pittsburgh.
As a sales executive with U.S. Steel Corp., Mr. Butler retired in 1977 and moved to Centerville.
He was an active member of the Osterville Men's Club.
In his spare time, he was an avid golfer and forever enjoyed the game.
He is survived by a son, James F. Butler III of Medfield; a daughter, Nola B. Geraigery of Centerville; a sister, Helena McCue of Rochester, N.H.; and two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated June 30 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Private burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery
in Centerville.

Patricia F. Capulli, 71
Hyannis - Patricia F. (McDonough) Capulli, 71, of Hyannis, died June 15, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Pavilion, of diabetes.
She was the wife of Lawrence R. Capulli, who died in 1972.
Mrs. Capulli was born, raised and educated in Boston. She lived in Virginia while raising her family and worked as a manager at the Curtain Call Restaurant in Washington , D.C. She retired to Cape Cod in 1985. She enjoyed reading and playing cards.
Surviving are three daughters, Jeanne M. Critzer of West Yarmouth, Susan P. Arnold of North Conway, N.H., and Gail A. Molnar of Grasonville, Md.; a son, Christian A. Capulli of Chatham; three sisters, Dorothy Locke of Cohasset, Kathleen Rizzo of Naples, Fla., and Joan Woods of Braintree; a brother, Joseph McDonough Jr. of Braintree; five grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Lawrence R. Capulli Jr.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.

Walter J. Dooley, 84
Marstons Mills - Walter J. Dooley, 84, of Marstons Mills, died June 10, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Marion E. (Rose) Dooley.
He was born in Boston, and raised and educated in Roxbury. He lived many years in Brockton and moved to Marstons Mills three years ago.
Mr. Dooley retired as the manager of Center Radiology in Brockton in 1982. He worked at Brockton Hospital, Carney Hospital in Dorchester, and was head of the X-ray department at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, from 1962 to 1965. He was chief of the X-ray department at Boston City Hospital from 1937 until 1960.
He was a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technicians.
He leaves three sons, Robert Dooley of Raynham, Paul Dooley of Wareham and Michael Dooley of Marstons Mills; a daughter, Barbara A. Dooley of Avon; a brother, Leo J. Dooley of Jamaica Plain; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He also was the father of the late William F. Dooley and the late Walter J. Dooley.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Edward's Church in Brockton. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery
there.

Mary R. Fellows, 73
Marstons Mills - Mary R. (Reidy) Fellows, 73, of Marstons Mills died June 9, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness.
She was the wife of Henry J. Fellows.
She was born, raised, and educated in Springfield, and was a 1944 graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield. She moved to Marstons Mills in 1992.
She was employed by New England Telephone in Springfield and Hyannis. She retired from New England Telephone in 1952 to become a homemaker and raise her family.
She lived for a time in East Hartford, Conn., where she was active in the East Hartford Little League Auxiliary and the Midget Football Auxiliary. Mrs. Fellows was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church.
She loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed traveling to visit them. In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons, Henry J. "Hank" Fellows of New Britain, Conn., James M. Fellows of Walled Lake, Mich., and Robert M. Fellows of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii; a daughter, Kathleen F. Bishop of Newington, Conn.; a brother, James Reidy Jr. of Bristol, Conn.; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Helen Ann Fellows.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery
in Centerville.

Loring E. 'Red' Garrett, 73
Centerville - Loring E. "Red" Garrett, 73, of Centerville died June 9, 2001, in Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Facility Pavilion in Hyannis after a long illness.
He was the husband of Margie (Mayo) Garrett of Centerville, to whom he was married for 43 years.
He was born in Lynn, and raised and educated there. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He attended Northeastern University, and later taught evening classes there. He lived 22 years in Belmont.
Mr. Garrett was an Air Force veteran of World War II and Korea, serving at the Pentagon.
He was president of the Data Processing Association of America, and vice president of the Savings Bank Life Insurance Company.
He was an active volunteer with the Big Brother Association of Boston.
He retired to Centerville in 1992, where he continued to enjoy his hobbies as an award-winning gardener, wood carver, and fisherman.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Van Garrett of Belmont; and four grandchildren.
He was also the father of the late Lorie Garrett.

in Cotuit.
