Catherine C. Wood, 92
Cotuit - Catherine C. (McGrath) Wood, 92, a resident of Cotuit and formerly of Needham, died March 13, 2001, at the Cape Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sandwich, where she was recovering from recent surgery.
She was the wife of George B. Wood, Jr.
Mrs. Wood grew up in Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of Boston Teachers College, where she was class valedictorian. In her early teaching career, she taught at an American school in the Dominican Republic. She also was a substitute teacher for many years in the Needham Public Schools and throughout her life took a great interest in young people.
Mrs. Wood was a member of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee. A lifelong member of the Cotuit Mosquito Yacht Club, she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren take part in the club's sailing activities.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Mary Davina Herb of Pittsburgh, Pa., George B. Wood III of Hopedale and Collette C. Goodman of Bethesda, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
She was also the mother of John Wood, who died in 1970.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Christ the King Parish in Mashpee. Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Margaret O. Berry, 82
Centerville - Margaret O. (Westgate) Berry, 82, who also lived in Boynton Beach, Fla., died March 17, 2001, at the Windsor Nursing Home in South Yarmouth.
She was the wife of Earle H. Berry Jr., who died in January.
Mrs. Berry was born in Middleboro where she was a graduate of Middleboro High School. She lived in Centerville for many years and also had a home in Boynton Beach, Fla. Most recently, she had lived at Harbor Point Assisted Living in Centerville.
She was a homemaker and volunteer at the Hyannis East Elementary School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had been both a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader.
Mrs. Berry is survived by a son, Kevin E. Berry of Hyannis; a daughter, Donna L. Bailey of Laconia, N.H.; a sister, Elsie Wood of Middleboro; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were private.

John C. Bonner Sr.
Centerville - John C. Bonner, Sr. died March 18, 2001, at his home.
He was the husband of the late Jacqueline A. (Pidgeon) Bonner for 48 years.
A lifelong resident of Framingham, he was a graduate of Framingham High School, class of 1949.
Mr. Bonner served in the Korea War aboard the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Framingham where he served on the vestry. He was also a member of the Republican Club of Framingham, an avid Red Sox fan and a collector and dealer of baseball memorabilia.
Mr. Bonner leaves three children, Jacqueline B. Crawley of Franklin, John C. Bonner Jr., of Franklin and Scott D. Bonner of Milbury; a sister, Phyllis N. Hobon of Rochester, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Main Street, Barnstable. Burial was. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

William F. Chambers, 90
Centerville - William F. "Bill" Chambers, 90, a resident of Centerville, died March 21, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after an illness.
He was the husband of Martha (Salo) Chambers.
Born, raised and educated in Milford, Mr. Chambers moved to Cape Cod in 1936 and was a longtime resident of Centerville.
He worked as a security guard at the Barnstable County House of Correction for 23 years, retiring as a senior guard.
He was also employed for more than 40 years with the Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Homes.
Mr. Chambers served in the Pacific during World War II with the Coast Guard. He served during the Central Pacific Campaign in the Marshall Islands, at the initial assault of Leyte, the occupation of Saipan, Tinian and the Mariana islands, and the initial assaults of Luzon and Okinawa.
He was a charter member of the Dennis Thomas Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Hyannis and also a member of the Disabled American Veterans chapter of Hyannis.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marcia Stobbart of Asheville, N.C.; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and a niece.
Funeral services were to be held at the convenience of the family.

Elizabeth M. Corey, 82
Yarmouthport - Elizabeth M. (Ennis) Corey, 82, of Yarmouthport and formerly of Cummaquid, died of heart disease March 18, 2001, at the Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center in South Dennis.
She was the wife of William T. Corey since 1943.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Corey was a graduate of St. Brendan's Diocesan High School in Brooklyn and the Sloan Business School in New York.
Mrs. Corey was an executive secretary for the chief of the New York bureau of the FBI. She took minutes of several significant interrogations, including one of a German spy during World War II. After the war, she served as secretary to the commanding general of Fort Shafter in Hawaii.
She lived in Westwood, Hingham and in Westport, Conn., where she was active in school, church and community groups. After a time as a full-time homemaker, she served as secretary to the director of the special education department of the Westport school system.
Mrs. Corey moved to Cummaquid Heights during the 1970s and most recently to Kings Way in Yarmouthport. She enjoyed golf, bridge and being with family and friends.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Richard Corey of Monsey, N.Y.; a daughter, Barbara Groves of Weston, Conn.; three brothers, William Ennis of Etowah, N.C., Joseph Ennis of Santa Ana, Calif., and Robert Ennis of Oceanside, N.J.; a sister, Marie Condit of Forked River, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Chapel, Summer Street, Yarmouthport. Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
John Church, 77
Lenox John Church, 77, a member of the Hyannis Yacht Club who sailed from the Wianno Yacht Club in Osterville, died at his home in Lenox earlier this month.
He was married to Caroline Mason Norfleet for 52 years.
Mr. Church was employed for 37 years at General Electric in Pittsfield. An avid hobbyist, he built his own house and harvested a variety of home products ranging from honey to corn and maple syrup.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Dominic G. 'Sonny' DiLorenzo, 56
West Yarmouth - Dominic G. "Sonny" DiLorenzo, 56, of West Yarmouth, died March 16, 2001, at his home following a brief illness.
He was the husband of Judith A. (Jones) DiLorenzo.
Mr. DiLorenzo was born and raised in Woburn, attending Woburn High School. He served in the Air Force as a mechanic from 1961 to 1965.
After his marriage, Mr. DiLorenzo moved to West Yarmouth. He worked for the former Eldredge & Bourne Moving Co. in Hyannis during the 1970s and for the Hallameyer Express Co. in Hyannis during the early 1980s. He then worked for the Linhares Precast Co. in South Yarmouth.
Since 1995, Mr. DiLorenzo had been employed as a cook for the Cape Cod Potato Chip Co. in Hyannis, and was a part-time driver for the Atlantic Courier Co. in Centerville at the time of his death. He had also worked in maintenance for Fisher College in Hyannis in the late 1990s.
Mr. DiLorenzo enjoyed working on cars and computers and was an avid stamp collector.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Christine Texeira of East Falmouth and Diane DiLorenzo of West Yarmouth; a son, Anthony DiLorenzo of West Yarmouth; three brothers, Minot DiLorenzo of Londonderry, N.H., John DiLorenzo of Manchester, N.H., and Leo DiLorenzo of Woburn; two sisters, Pam McElroy of Raynham and Marie Marenghi of Woburn; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Dominic G. DiLorenzo III.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Burial followed in Chandler Gray Cemetery
in West Yarmouth.

William E. Hautanen, 87
Centerville William E. Hautanen, 87, of Centerville, died March 24, 2001, at a local nursing home.
He was the husband of Elsie (Renkainen) Hautanen. Born in West Barnstable, he attended Barnstable schools.
Mr. Hautanen was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Europe. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the combat infantry badge.
He worked for 18 years in the Barnstable County Sheriff's Department as a radio dispatcher and as an identification officer.
Mr. Hautanen was a member of First Lutheran Church, West Barnstable, a 45-year member of the Cape Cod Lodge of Odd Fellows and a life member of the D.A.V.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard W. Hautanen.
A funeral service was held at First Lutheran Church with burial in Crocker Park Cemetery, West Barnstable.
