Edward F. 'Bud' Reardon, 75
Falmouth - Edward F. "Bud" Reardon, 75, founder of Bud's Country Lounge in Hyannis, died Aug. 14, 2000, at Falmouth Hospital.
He was the husband of Elsie M. (Cimeno) Reardon for 46 years.
Born in South Boston, Mr. Reardon was a 1941 graduate of Roslindale High School. Entering the Navy in 1942, he served aboard the destroyer USS Erben in the Pacific Theater and witnessed the Japanese surrender.
With a love of music, he graduated from Berklee College of Music and joined the U.S. Marine Corps Band. He later formed his own big band, the Headliners, and played throughout New England. Mr. Reardon also played the organ at Fenway Park and at Boston Garden for Boston's major sports teams, and taught piano and organ.
Mr. Reardon worked for the Veterans Administration until founding Bud's Country Lounge in Hyannis.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Edward F. Reardon of Falmouth and Paul J. Reardon of Cummaquid; two daughters, Deborah A. Reardon Stone of Teaticket and Mary E. Reardon Howard of Hollis, N.H.; a stepson, Francis M. Flanagan of New Seabury and Deerfield, Fla.; a brother, Robert P. Reardon of Dorchester; and 11 grandchildren.
He was also the stepfather of the late Dennis Flanagan.

Winifred L. Roper, 76
Needham - Winifred L. (Sergeant) Roper, 76, a former resident of Centerville and Holliston, died of cancer Aug. 13, 2000, at the Wingate of Needham.
Born in Providence, R.I., she grew up in Cranston, R.I. She graduated from Cranston High School and Roger Williams School of Nursing in Providence.
A Needham resident for 25 years, she was the director of nurses at the Hamilton House Nursing Home in Needham from 1971 to 1980. She later moved to Centerville, where she was the nursing supervisor for the Whitehall Nursing Home and Cape Regency, both of Centerville. She lived in Centerville for 18 years before moving to Holliston.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara L. Richards of Raynham, Marjorie M. Lucenta of Plainville and Elizabeth L. Stark of Wellesley; a sister, Barbara Donovan of Little Compton, R.I.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Joan M. Swift, 76
Osterville - Joan M. (Martin) Swift, 76, died April 19, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was the wife of Francis L. Swift.
Mrs. Swift was born in Denver, Colo., and raised in Westchester County, N.Y.
She was a 1945 graduate of Trinity College in Washington , D.C., and lived for many years in Allentown, Pa., where she was a homemaker and raised her family.
In 1985, she moved to Wellesley and then to Osterville in 1995.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and a member of the Women's Guild.
She was also a member of the Osterville Garden Club and enjoyed reading and playing bridge.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, James E. McCambridge, III of Madison, Wis., and Robert M. McCambridge of Gaithersburg, Md.; a daughter, Ann M. Altimare of Lancaster, Pa.; three stepdaughters, Mary Lee Halpin of Weston, Barbara J. Swift of Natick, and Charlotte F. Leibold of Tornball, Texas ; a stepson, Francis L. Swift Jr. of Washington , D.C.; a sister, Ann M. Olson of Fayetteville, N.Y.; a brother, the Rev. Francis Martin of Gaithersburg, Md.; and 11 grandchildren.

Daniel F. Sullivan, 83
Hyannis - Daniel F. Sullivan, 83, died Aug. 19, 2000, at the Windsor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Yarmouth.
Mr. Sullivan was born in Holyoke and educated in Chicopee.
An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Sullivan worked as a machinist at the Springfield Armory before moving to the Cape in 1966. He then worked in security for the Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1978.
After his retirement, he worked as a security guard at Kmart in Hyannis.
Mr. Sullivan was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
He is survived by a son, Brendan J. Sullivan of Hyannis; a daughter Donna Sullivan-Pontz of Hyannis; a sister Nancy Hinkes of Belchertown; one grandchild; three nieces and a nephew.

Robert J. Thibeault, 55
Barnstable - Robert J. Thibeault, 55, of Barnstable, died Aug, 18, 2000, at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community-Pavilion in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Carla J. (Wykofka) Thibeault.
Mr. Thibeault was born in New Bedford, moved to Barnstable at an early age and attended Barnstable schools. He graduated from Barnstable High School, where he was on the football team. He was a longtime resident of Barnstable Village.
Mr. Thibeault was a U.S. Mail Star Route truck driver for 36 years and had recently received the Million Mile Award from the U.S. Postal Service. He had participated in the Walk to the Statehouse from Cape Cod in February of 1961. He loved music and football.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Ramona Douglas and Jennifer Thibeault, both of Barnstable; two brothers, Alexander Thibeault of Pensacola, Fla., and Roy Thibeault of Norway, Maine; and three sisters, Jeanne St. Peter of Marstons Mills, Pauline Bradley of Hyannis, and Doris Quirk of New Bedford.

Thomas G. Baker, 72
South Yarmouth - Thomas G. Baker, 72, a business owner and Cape native, died Aug. 29, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Born and raised in South Yarmouth, Mr. Baker was a graduate of Barnstable High School.
He was an Army veteran, having served during World War II in the South Pacific and during the Korean War.
He moved to Brockton and started a custom furniture, cabinet and boat business in East Bridgewater. After seven years, he moved back to South Yarmouth and started a manufacturing company of fiberglass boats.
In 1949, he was part of a team that successfully made the first fiberglass boat at Cape Cod Ship Building in Wareham.
In the early 1970s, Mr. Baker moved to Rye, N.H., started making custom furniture and took over the Pine Crafter's Shop and Rye Pine Shop. He later moved to Hyannis and started The Professionals, a custom cabinet shop with locations in Falmouth, Hyannis and Orleans.
In 1991 he founded Grampa's Bike Shop, where he restored and sold Old Colonial bikes. Earlier this year, he moved the shop to Harwich.
Surviving are a son, Thomas G. Baker III of Harwich; four daughters, Margaret M. Baker of Providence, R.I., Janet L. Baker of Middleboro, Christine Anne Baker of Halifax and Beth M. Baker of Lakeville; a sister, MaryAnne McDowell of Hyannis; and several grandchildren.
Reid C. Borden, 77
Centerville - Reid C. Borden, 77, a resident of Centerville, died Aug. 28, 2000, at the Hospice House of Cape Cod in Barnstable after a period of failing health.
He was the husband of the late Shirley M. (Capen) Borden.
Born in Nova Scotia, Mr. Borden emigrated to the United States as a small child. He was raised and educated in Hanover and was a longtime resident of Rockland before moving to Centerville.
Mr. Borden and his family have summered at Saquish Beach since 1957.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a marksman who saw action in the European-African and Middle Eastern Theaters.
Surviving are a daughter, Grace Ellen Gallo of Centerville; two sisters, Muriel Wallace of Florida and Audrey Drummey of Norwell; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

George G. Buehler, 66
Centerville - George Gulick Buehler, 66, a Cape resident since 1981, died Aug. 29, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness.
He was the husband of Carolyn (Mack) Buehler for 42 years.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Buehler graduated from Germantown High School and LaSalle University, Pa. He also attended New England School of Accounting from 1962-1964 and New Haven College from 1967-1968, where he earned a purchasing certificate. He was named Outstanding Young Man of America, 1968.
From 1966-1970, he lived in Monroe, Conn., where he was a member of the Connecticut Jaycees and a deacon at Monroe Congregational Church. He moved to the Cape in 1981.
Mr. Buehler served aboard the USS Cascade (AD-16) from 1955-1959, Sffp 2/C, and was a member of Local No. 4 Pipefitters Union of Worcester. He built and repaired nuclear power plants throughout the country.
Surviving besides his wife are three children, Ronald of North Carolina, Kris of Forestdale and Susan MacDonald of New Hampshire; and three grandchildren.

William C. Crossley, 77
Osterville - William Charles Crossley, 77, a resident of Osterville and Sanibel Island, Fla., died Aug. 26, 2000, after a long illness with cancer.
He was the husband of Eleanor Shea Crossley.
Born in St. Paul, Minn., Mr. Crossley attended Cretin High School and graduated from the University of Minnesota. He spent his entire working life as an entrepreneur in the real estate and construction industries in North Haven, Conn. He retired to Sanibel Island, Fla., and maintained a summer home in Osterville.
Mr. Crossley held a pilot's license and enjoyed flying small airplanes for many years. He also built and flew radio-controlled model airplanes. The primary focus of his life was his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, William Charles Crossley Jr. of Hyannis; two daughters, Catherine Crossley Johnson of Centerville and Elizabeth "Betsy" Crossley Jehan of Guilford, Conn.; a brother, Arthur Crossley of Wallingford, Conn.; and eight grandchildren.
He was also the father of Richard Crossley, who died in 1973.

Ronald S. Hambly, 83
Centerville - Ronald S. Hambly, 83, former tax collector for the town of Barnstable, died Aug. 27, 2000, at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Elizabeth S. (Shepherd) Hambly.
Mr. Hambly was born and raised in New Bedford. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and the Kinyon Business School in New Bedford.
In 1935 he began working for Corson Cadillac-Oldsmobile in Hyannis. In 1950, he moved to Hyannis and was the manager of the dealership's office until 1968.
In the late 1960s, he served as temporary administrative assistant to Barnstable Police Chief Albert Hinckley, and later as financial adviser to the police department.
Mr. Hambly was elected tax collector in the town of Barnstable for 15 years. He retired from that position in 1984.
He was the first president of the Barnstable Babe Ruth League and a past Master of the Fraternal Lodge AF&AM.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, David Hambly of Centerville; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
