Marianne L. MacDowell, 82
Hyannis - Marianne Leticia (Krueger) MacDowell, 82, a retired electrical engineer and Cape Cod business owner, died Aug. 3, 2000, at her home.
She was the wife of Earle MacDowell.
A lifelong resident of the Cape, Mrs. MacDowell was a graduate of the Sea Pines School for Girls, Yarmouth High School and the Leland Powers School of Broadcasting.
In the 1930s, she wrote and produced her own radio programs, and during World War II she was an artist for the Colonial Candle Company of Cape Cod. She also served with the USO.
She was the co-owner of Bambi Cabinet Company and a designer of custom cabinetry.
Mrs. MacDowell worked for Com Electric for 20 years, retiring in the 1980s.
She was a past noble Grand of Willinghand Rebecca Lodge, twice.
Besides her husband, Mrs. MacDowell is survived by a son, Frederick Krueger of Mountain Home, Ark.; a daughter, Ruth Krueger of Stockton, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Mary Crawford of Russelville, Ariz., Winifred Dick of Schertz, Texas , and Earlene MacDowell of Cotuit; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Nancy Murray Pillsbury, 68
Hyannis - Nancy Murray Pillsbury, 68, a Hyannis resident for the past 25 years, died July 28, 2000, at the Greenery Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Hyannis.
She was the wife of Penn Parker Pillsbury, who died in 1977.
Born in Hyannis, Mrs. Pillsbury lived in Hyannis for the past 25 years. She graduated from Leyland Powers in Boston and managed the Basbanes Motel until its closing.
Surviving are two sons, James M. Pillsbury of Framingham and Timothy Pillsbury of Hyannis; two daughters, Harriett Pillsbury of Newtown, Conn., and Townsend Pillsbury of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Frances G. Sampson, 83
West Yarmouth - Frances G. (Farley) Sampson, 83, a Cape resident since 1968, died Aug. 2, 2000, at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late retired Boston police Officer Frederick B. Sampson.
Born and raised in Boston, Mrs. Sampson was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Cambridge and attended Trinity College in Washington , D.C.
Mrs. Sampson married in the early 1940s and settled in Brighton, where she raised her family. She moved to West Yarmouth in 1968 after having summered on Cape Cod for many years. She retired 24 years ago from the Boston College Research and Development Department.
An active member of the St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, she was a member and past president of its Ladies' Guild. She was also presented the Marian Medal in the late 1970s.
Surviving are two sons, Frederick G. of Wayland and Kenneth F. of Carver; a daughter, Geraldine Coleman of Brighton; a brother, James Farley of Burlington; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late John and the late Farley.

Lillian E. Slattery
South Yarmouth - Lillian E. (Higgins) Slattery, a resident of South Yarmouth, died Aug. 1, 2000, at the Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster.
She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Slattery.
Born, raised and educated in Orleans, Mrs. Slattery worked as an operator for New England Telephone in Cotuit and Hyannis for many years.
Mrs. Slattery was a communicant of St. Pius X Church and active in its Women's Guild. She was also a Girl Scout leader in South Yarmouth.
She enjoyed wintering in Florida.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeanne E. Marshall of Marstons Mills; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ella F. Wasserman, 94
Hyannis - Ella F. (Brennan) Wasserman, 94, a Cape resident since 1980, died Aug. 3, 2000, at the Greenery Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Hyannis after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Samuel Wasserman, who died in 1992.
Born and raised in Maine, Mrs. Wasserman moved to Boston in the 1940s. She owned and managed real estate and rooming houses.
After her marriage in the late 1940s, she settled in Boston and later in Hull. She moved to Hyannis in 1980.
Mrs. Wasserman was the owner and manager of the South Cape Motel in Sandwich and the White Whale Motel in Mashpee. She retired eight years ago.
She is survived by eight nieces, including Joan Brennan of Hyannis, with whom she lived; two nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Henry J. Carty, Jr., 89
Hyannis Henry Joseph Carty, Jr., 89 died Aug. 12, 2000, at the Cape Regency Nursing Home in Centerville.
He was the husband of Emily L. (Bauman) Carty for 65 years.
Mr. Carty was born in Roxbury and attended Boston Trade School, learning cabinet making. In 1976, he retired from Industrial Plastics Fabricators in Walpole.
Before relocating to the Cape, Mr. Carty was an honorary member of the Norwood Knights of Columbus, Council 252. He also received many certificates from the Norwood Hospital Blood Bank for his generous donations.
Mr. Carty was an honorary member of the Cape Cod Retired Men's Club and participated in its bowling league as well as other events. In addition to bowling and baseball, Mr. Carty enjoyed gardening, reading, helping friends and neighbors, and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Charles H. Carty of Carver; a daughter, Nancy C. Lepri of Wilmington, N.C.; two sisters, Evelyne Murphy of Roslindale and Ann Orth of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Olga Chirigotis, 70
Cummaquid - Olga (Petrakos) Chirigotis, 70, of Cummaquid, died Aug. 9, 2000, at Hathaway Manor in New Bedford.
Mrs. Chirigotis was born in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School in 1948. She lived most of her life in Lowell, moving to Cummaquid in 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Eleni Chirigotis of Bridgewater; five sons, Stephen J. Chirigotis of Wichita Falls, Texas , Charles and William Chirigotis, both of New Bedford, Frederick Chirigotis of Cummaquid, and John Chirigotis of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Charles P. Petrakos of Lowell; three sisters, Rita Vainas of Lowell, Annie Patriakeas of Dover, and Polly Zouzas of Chelmsford; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Peter Chirigotis.
Robert F. Cohen, 68
Hyannis - Robert Francis Cohen, 68, a resident of Hyannis, died Aug. 10, 2000, at a local nursing home.
He was the husband of Brenda A. (Young) Cohen.
Born and raised in Brockton, Mr. Cohen served in the Navy during the Korean War. When he returned from the war, he worked at Brockton Veteran's Hospital and then as a foreman at Randy's Wharf of Brockton. He also worked at the Boston Globe for many years.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed shellfishing and was a Red Sox fan.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Robert F. Cohen Jr. of Covine, Calif., Michael D. Cohen of Azusa, Calif., and Robert D. Young of Quincy; three daughters, Lisa J. Nakash of Ontario, Calif., Natalie "Cindy" Cohen of Santa Anna, Calif., and Charlene (Young) Enos of Taunton; two sisters, Eileen Daly of West Bridgewater and Beverly Correia of Brockton; two brothers, David C. Cohen of Brockton and Donald E. Cohen; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Alfred A. Fuller, 81
Marstons Mills Alfred A. Fuller, 81, a former dairy farmer and an excavating contractor business owner, died Aug. 7, 2000, at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Barbara (Weekes) Fuller.
Born in Marstons Mills, Mr. Fuller was educated in Barnstable schools.
A dairy farmer for many years, he ended the farm in 1958 and started an excavating contractor business.
Mr. Fuller was director of the Barnstable County Agricultural Society and a 50-year-plus member of the Cotuit and East Sandwich Grange and the Cape Cod West Pomona Grange. He was also a member of the Liberty Hall Club of Marstons Mills and longtime friend of 4-H Camp Farley.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Alfred A. Fuller Jr. of Chatham and Harold R. Fuller of Forestdale.

Ruth Mathieson
Centerville - Ruth (Angell) Mathieson, a Cape resident since 1984, died Aug. 7, 2000, at her home, surrounded by her family, after a long illness with cancer.
She was the wife of Robert E. Mathieson for 51 years.
Born in Dedham, Mrs. Mathieson was educated in Marshfield and Quincy. She graduated from North Quincy High School in 1942.
After living in Wollaston for many years, she and her husband moved to Centerville in 1984.
Mrs. Mathieson was proud of her membership in the Mayflower Descendants Society. She also took great pride in her gardens, where she enjoyed spending a great deal of time.
She loved animals, books and walking on the beach.
Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Carol Cooney of Braintree and Patricia Barry of Duxbury; two sons, Robert Mathieson of Sandwich and David Mathieson of Yarmouth; two sisters, Emily Prario of Wareham and Joyce Lee of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.

Theadorina 'Teddye' Mendes, 78
Marstons Mills - Theadorina "Teddye" (Monteiro) Mendes, 78, a longtime Cape resident, died Aug. 8, 2000, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Plymouth, she moved to Marstons Mills as a young girl and graduated from Barnstable High School. She was a licensed practical nurse at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis for 23 years until retiring seven years ago.
She loved gardening, knitting, reading and taught swimming to special needs children at the YMCA.
Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Rivers of Marstons Mills, Casandra Meadows of Boston and Marstons Mills and Laurel Mendes of Mashpee; two sisters, Mary Perry of Osterville and Anne Loving of Boston; two brothers, John Monteiro of Brockton and Antonio Monteiro of Quincy; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
