Edmund F. Cuddy, 90
Winchester Edmund F. Cuddy, 90, a former resident of Hyannis, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at the Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Elizabeth A. (Eigo) Cuddy.
Born in Passaic, N.J., Mr. Cuddy was raised and educated in Hudson, N.Y., where he graduated from Hudson High School. He married in 1938 and settled in Pelham Manor, N.Y., in 1942.
Mr. Cuddy was a salesman for the A.N. Nelson Tool Co. in Brooklyn, N.Y. He retired and moved to Hyannis in 1972. He recently moved to Winchester to live with his daughter.
While in Hyannis, Mr. Cuddy was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Elks and several other civic organizations during his working years.
He was an avid fisherman.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Dennis C. Cuddy of White Plains, N.Y.; three daughters, Jane E. Lynch of Winchester, Ellen M. Mathewson of Barnstable and Mary M. McGlinn of Monroe, N.Y.; a sister, Anne Drew of Hudson, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Hyannis. Burial followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.

Dorothy N. Dimmick, 82
East Dennis Dorothy Neale Dimmick, 82, a pioneer in the field of early childhood care and education, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at the Newton Wellesley Alzheimer Center after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Herbert R. Dimmick.
Born in Jamaica Plain, Mrs. Dimmick graduated from the Boston Public Schools. After marrying her childhood sweetheart, she settled in Lima, Ohio, and subsequently moved to Park Ridge, N.J., where she lived until retiring to East Dennis and North Fort Myers, Fla.
In 1966, she created one of the first early childhood centers, Jack in the Box Nursery School in Closter, N.J. She was tireless in her devotion to the care and education of the young child and she developed one of the first all day programs to support working parents and their children.
A lifelong Episcopalian, she was an active member of Christ Church in Hyde Park and a choir member at Christ Church in Lima, Ohio, and St. Paul's Church in Montvale, N.J.
After her son's death in 1983, she and her husband established the Geoffrey Russell Dimmick Memorial Scholarship Fund to support the scholars of the Marine Resource Management Graduate School at Oregon State University.
Surviving are four daughters, Pamela D. Rawson of Tinton Falls, N.J., Darrell D. McWilliam of Duxbury, Debra D. Conway of Santa Clara, Calif., and Meredith D. Wiech of Bradford; a brother, Walter F. Neale Jr. of Barnstable; a sister, Anne S. Harrison of Varnville, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was also the mother of the late Geoffrey R. Dimmick and Paula D. Blagg.
A memorial service was held St. David's Episcopal Church in South Yarmouth.

Barbara Callahan Kilgour, 79
Centerville Barbara ( White ) Callahan Kilgour, 79, a former Hyannis and Fort Myers, Fla., resident, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at the Cape Regency Nursing Home in Centerville.
She was the wife of the late Albert F. Callahan.
Mrs. Kilgour was born in Somerville. She was a member and past president of the West Roxbury Women's Club and a Girl Scout leader in the Boston area.
Mrs. Kilgour was formerly active in the Hyannis Senior Citizens Center and with Meals on Wheels.
She enjoyed crafts, gardening and sewing.
Mrs. Kilgour is survived by a son, Albert F. Callahan Jr. of Hyannis; four daughters, Pat Andrulot of North Eastham, Peggy Kilroy of Centerville, Kathleen Morris of Westborough and Elizabeth Gricus of Rhode Island; a brother, Frederic White of Needham; a sister, Genevieve White ; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville. Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery
in Cotuit.

William J. Laverty, 80
Osterville William J. Laverty, 80, a Cape resident since 1971, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness.
He was the husband of Margaret J. (O'Hara) Laverty.
Born, raised and educated in Dorchester, Mr. Laverty was a graduate of Boston Latin High School. He also graduated from Boston College in 1940 and attended Harvard Business School.
He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Laverty was a resident of Weymouth from 1950 until 1971 when he moved to Osterville.
He was a longtime investment banker and merchant banker in Boston and New York.
He loved golfing and shellfishing.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Peter J. Laverty of New Jersey and William E. Laverty of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Anne Donovan of Plympton and Rita Dunbar of Marshfield; and five grandchildren.
He was also the father of the late Paul P. Laverty.
A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced. Burial was private.
Frederick J. Lepore, 58
Stamford, Conn. Frederick J. Lepore, 58, a former resident of Dennis, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Conn.
He was the husband of Thomasina (Brown) Lepore for 24 years.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Lepore lived in Dennis for 10 years until recently moving to Stamford. He was a sales representative for Linc Corp. in Stamford.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Frederick J. Lepore III of Marstons Mills and Christian Lepore of Stamford; two daughters, Loretta Polizzi of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Nicole Lepore of Stamford; a brother, Ronald Lepore of Massapequa, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held in Connecticut.

David W. Mendenhall, 75
Hyannis David W. Mendenhall, 75, a Cape resident for the past two years, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at his home.
Born in Noblesville, Ind., Mr. Mendenhall graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind. He lived in Hyannis for two years and previously in Chicago for many years.
A World War II Coast Guard veteran, Mr. Mendenhall was a librarian for the Chicago Tribune for 22 years until retiring.
He was involved with several acting companies in Chicago, directing and acting in many plays.
Surviving are a sister, Patricia Mendenhall of Hyannis, with whom he lived; and a cousin.
A memorial service was held at the Osterville Baptist Church, Osterville.
Lucille North, 88
Centerville Lucille (Coleman) North, 88, a Cape resident for the past two years, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
She was the wife of the late Wilfred W. North.
Mrs. North was born in Lewiston, Maine, and raised in Bingham, Maine. After graduating from high school, she attended business school in California and worked as a legal secretary.
A resident of West Bridgewater from 1935 to 1998, she worked for many years at the West Bridgewater Town Hall and served as interim treasurer for a time. She also owned and operated a small goat farm for many years. She was a member of the American Goat Dairy Association, the Beekeepers Association and "The Backyarders."
For the past two years, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and James Wingren, in Centerville.
She is survived by four daughters, Cynthia Donatelli of Mendon, Virginia Wingren of Centerville, Isabelle Williams of Modesto, Calif., and Susan Lee of Acton; a sister, Phyllis Mignery of Austin, Texas ; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were private.

Edward V. Paris, 72
West Barnstable Edward V. Paris, 72, a former production manager for General Electric, died Wednesday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Rosemary (Elworthy) Paris.
Born in Pittsfield, he was a longtime resident of Pittsfield and lived in West Barnstable for the past 11 years.
Mr. Paris was a well known athlete in Pittsfield and also played semi-professional football for Tyler Acres. He was also a member of the Cape Cod Old Timer's Softball League and an avid golfer.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a production manager for General Electric in Pittsfield, where he worked for 40 years until retiring in 1987.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Edward M. Paris of Forestdale, David A. Paris of Pittsfield and Paul J. Paris of Oxford; a daughter, Patricia Robitille of Sandwich; two sisters, Maryann Ferris of Pittsfield and Eva Sonty of Hondo, Texas ; a brother, Robert Paris of Pittsfield; and eight grandchildren.
He was also the father of the late Carol Jean Paris.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Chapel, West Barnstable.
A graveside service was held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield.

Josephine S. Padula, 82
Marstons Mills Josephine S. (Mazzeo) Padula, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community-Manor in Hyannis after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Frederick "Fred" Padula.
Born in Braintree, she was educated in the Randolph school system. She lived in Quincy for 64 years before moving to Marstons Mills two years ago.
Mrs. Padula was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Senior Citizens group.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Tarbox of Marstons Mills and Dorothy J. Burress of Pembroke; three sons, Fred J. Padula of North Weymouth, Michael J. Padula of Quincy, and Anthony J. Padula of Pembroke; a brother, James Mazzeo of Randolph; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Gerald J. Padula.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in the St. John the Baptist Church, Quincy. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.
