Rachel D. Campana, 91

Osterville ­ Rachel Daniel Campana, 91, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville.

She was the wife of Anthony J. Campana, who died in 1974.

A lifelong resident of Osterville, Mrs. Campana was a descendant of one of the first families to settle in the village. She graduated from Barnstable High School and from the School of Fine Arts in Boston.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville and a charter member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church Guild.

Surviving are two daughters, Virginia C. Stimets and Gail C. Nightingale, both of Osterville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville. Burial followed in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Box E, Osterville, Mass. 02655; or to the Osterville Free Library, 43 Wianno Ave., Osterville, Mass. 02655.

Virginia Carbonell, 92

Greenville, Delaware ­ Virginia Cannon Carbonell, 92, a native of Hyannis, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000.

She was the wife of Joseph E. Carbonell Jr., who died in 1987.

Born in Hyannis, Mrs. Carbonell was a 1930 graduate of Radcliffe College. She was a resident of the Methodist Country House in Greenville at the time of her death.

Prior to moving to Wilmington in 1945, she and her husband lived in Washington , D.C., where she taught English to diplomats at the Russian Embassy. One of her pupils was Andrei Gromyko, future president of the Soviet Union.

She enjoyed historical anecdotes through her membership in the Society of Mayflower Descendants. She appreciated American antiquities and was a docent in the early years of Winterthur Museum's guided tour programs. Mrs. Carbonell traveled extensively with her husband to Europe, the Far East and South America to satisfy a curiosity of literature and the arts.

An avid horticulturist, she shared her garden for several years for the Wilmington Garden Day Tours. She was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington and the Wilmington Country Club.

Surviving are a son, Joseph E. Carbonell III of Chadds Ford, Pa.; a sister, Louise Richie of Dennisport; a grandson; and two granddaughters.

Services were private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Delaware Center for Horticulture, 1810 N. Dupont St., Wilmington, Del. 19806.

Mary P. Carroll

Brewster ­ Mary P. Carroll, a resident of Brewster since 1997, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at her home.

She was the wife of Alfred T. Carroll.

Born in Boston, Mrs. Carroll was raised in Mattapan. She lived in West Roxbury and Hanover for many years before dividing her time between Hull and South Miami, Fla. She moved to Brewster in 1997.

She was a secretary to the president of Hobart Corp. in Boston before her marriage.

Mrs. Carroll and her husband traveled throughout the world with the Gingham Swingers Square Dance Club. She was president of the Walnut Hill Garden Club in Hanover, secretary of the Rexham Beach Association in Marshfield and president of the Mother's Club of Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury.

Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Michael T. Carroll of Hyannis, Stephen R. Carroll of Brewster and Philip P. Carroll of Hanover; a sister, Eleanor Klauer of Sandwich; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of the Cape Church, Brewster. Burial was in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Association of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, Mass. 02675; or to a charity of one's choice.

Gladstone W. Collymore, 92

Hyannis ­ Gladstone W. Collymore, 92, who immigrated to the United States as a child, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community-Manor in Hyannis.

He was the husband of the late Juaneata Azeveido-Thomas, to whom he was married for 62 years.

Born in Barbados, Mr. Collymore came to Boston at age 7. He graduated from Boston Trade School.

After his education, he joined the National Guard and later the Army, serving as a military police sergeant during World War II. He was part of the 224th and 372nd military police companies. He later served as a drill sergeant during the Korean War.

After retiring from the military, he worked at and retired from Stop & Shop in South Boston.

Mr. Collymore is survived by two daughters, Arlene Woodruff and Carol Mitchell, both of Hyannis; two grandsons; and a granddaughter.

Burial was at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Margaret M. Cunningham, 77

Hyannisport ­ Margaret M. Cunningham, 77, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at her home, after a long illness.

She was the wife of the late Edward A. Cunningham Jr.

Born, raised and educated in Boston, she move to the Cape in 1974.

She is survived by a son, Greg J. Cunningham of Oceanridge, Fla.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis. Burial followed at St. Peters Cemetery in Arlington.

Donald M. Drew, 80

Barnstable ­ Donald M. Drew, 80, a World War II Army veteran, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community-Pavilion in Hyannis.

He was the husband Helen (Jones) Drew.

Mr. Drew was born in Hyannis and educated in Barnstable schools. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii when it was attacked by the Japanese in 1941. He also served in Normandy, northern France and the Rhineland.

He was co-owner with his brothers of Baxter Transportation in Hyannis for 40 years. He was a life member of the Odd Fellows Lodge 226 in Hyannis and was an avid gardener and a Patriots fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald M. Drew Jr. of Cummaquid and James W. Drew of Barnstable; two brothers, Kenneth Drew of Marstons Mills and Ithel Drew Jr. of Hyannis; a sister, Barbara Perry of Hyannis; and four granddaughters.

Burial was private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Barnstable Rescue Squad, Main Street, Barnstable, Mass. 02630, or Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, Mass. 02675.

Robert Fraser, 77

Hyannisport ­ Robert Fraser, 77, a former principal at Sandwich High School, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness.

He was the husband of Claire (Magner) Fraser.

Mr. Fraser was born, raised and educated in Boston. After high school, he graduated from Stonehill College in Easton and received a master's degree from University of Massachusetts/Boston.

He worked for the Boston Public Schools and later was the Principal of Saugus High School and Sandwich High School until retiring in 1984.

An avid golfer, he also loved dogs.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Robert W. Fraser of Hyannis; a daughter, Dr. Claire Fraser of Potomac, Md.; a brother, John Fraser of Florida; and a sister, Gertrude Kauranen of North Carolina.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville.

Memorial donations may be made to M.S.P.C.A., 1577 Falmouth Road, Centerville, Mass. 02632; or to the Riverbend Farm Kennels, 682 Sandwich Road, Falmouth, Mass. 02645.

Vivian Kendrick, 69

Dennisport ­ Vivian (Chipman) Kendrick, 69, a resident of Dennisport, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a brief illness.

She was the wife of Donald G. Kendrick Sr., who died in 1984. They were married since 1951.

Surviving are 10 children, Linda Laposky of Yarmouth, Rita Arral of Wareham, Betty Lou Kendrick of Eastham, Anita Marie Kendrick of Dennisport, Marion Frances Kendrick of Yarmouth, Patricia Cookingham of Hyannis, Janice Marine Tully of Bangor, Maine, Tamaera Lynn Kendrick of Yarmouth, Donald Gilbert Kendrick Jr. of Dennisport and Simon J. Kendrick of Bourne; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

She was also the mother of the late Wanda Gagane, Frida Kendrick and Vivian Kendrick.

A graveside service was held in Swan Lake Cemetery, Dennisport.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Amy (Craig) Knott, 78

Barnstable ­ Amy Craig (Pat) Knott, a Barnstable housewife since 1949, died Thursday, January 13, 2000, at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston, after a brief illness.

She was the wife of William Daniel Knott for 50 years.

Born and raised in Watertown, Mass., she later resided in Pennsylvania and New York City and graduated from Endicott Jr. College in 1942.

While in New York, she worked at Jordan Marsh, F.W. Schumacher, and at the Barbazon Modeling School.

Mrs. Knott during World War II served as a WAVE in the United States Naval Reserves as a gunner's mate instructor. In 1948-49 she was employed at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. For 35 years she was proprieter of Salt Acres Barn Shoppe with her husband's mother, Margaret C. Knott.

She was a girl scout leader for many years and active in the Unitarian Church's many programs. She served as her husband's secretary in his Yacht Surveying business over many years, as well as real estate in Barnstable.

She leaves her son, David Allen Knott; her daughter, Meredith C. Pells; and her sister, Margaret Craig Miner; three grandchildren, Samual A. Knott, Amy Rose Knott and Jesse D. Pells, all of Barnstable; two nieces, Linda C. Connelly of Watertown and Donna C. Caminos of Venezuela; and a nephew Robert A. Craig of North Chelmsford.

A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church in Barnstable Village on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Unitarian Church, Barnstable, Mass. 02630, or the Barnstable Fire Dept. Rescue Squad.

John R. Lundborn, 57

Hyannis ­ John Raymond Lundborn, 57, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital.

Mr. Lundborn was born in Boston and a graduate of Boston Latin High School. He served in the Army from 1964 to 1966 overseas in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

After returning from the war, Mr. Lundborn worked for Boston Ice Co. In 1970, he went to work for the Brush Hill Transportation Co. in Randolph, where he worked until his death.

He was a member and past president, past vice president and executive board member of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1548 in Plymouth and a member of the Hyannis Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his companion and fiancee, Cynthia Gushee of Hyannis and Fryeburg, Maine; two sons, John R. Lundborn of Truro and Matthew S. Lundborn of Marshfield; and former wife, Sandra J. (Kusser) Lundborn of Marshfield.

A service was held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
