Lois Ord Gillilan, 95
Yarmouthport - Lois Ord Gillilan, 95, a Cape resident since 1966, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late James P. Gillilan.
She and her husband were childhood friends, living several blocks from one another. They attended the same grammar and high schools and went to college together.
Born and raised in Auburn, Neb., Mrs. Gillilan was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and attended the Conservatory of Music in Lincoln, Neb.
She was a longtime resident of Bristol, Conn., where she was active in church and community affairs. As president of the Bristol Girl's Club, she was very instrumental in raising funds to build a swimming pool for the club.
In 1966, Mrs. Gillilan and her husband moved to Cummaquid, where she lived until moving to Heatherwood at Kings Way in Yarmouthport in 1992. She was an active member of the Ladies Guild of the West Parish Congregational Church and a Friend of the Sturgis Library in Barnstable.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Richardson of Cummaquid; three grandsons; a great-grandson; and a nephew.
A memorial service was held at the West Parish Congregational Church, Route 149, West Barnstable.

Sabina D. Greene, 81
Centerville - Sabina D. Greene, 81, died at her home Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999 after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Thomas F. Greene.
Born in Galway, Ireland, she graduated from St. George's Hospital School of Nursing in London in 1938. During the bombing of London she worked in the hospital during the day, sleeping in bomb shelters at night. In London, she met and married her husband, who was serving with the 8th Air Force. After the war they settled in Westboro.
As a member of the American Legion Orchid Ladies, she made frequent visits to served the disabled veterans at Cushing Veterans Administration Hospital in Framingham.
She was employed as a nurse in the infirmary at the Framingham Reformatory for Women.
Mrs. Greene was formerly a communicant at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish in Westboro. She was a member of Our Lady Victory Parish in Centerville, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Westboro Democratic Town Committee and Stowell Parker Post, American Legion. In 1978, she and her husband retired to Craigville Village where they had summered for many years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Maureen E. Martin of Westboro, Kathleen G. Caldera of North Easton and Sabina M. Troy of Cohasset; three sons, Thomas M. Greene of Barnstable, John J. Greene of Westboro and Michael R. Greene of Charlestown; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, with burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.
Bradford A. Hayward, 50
Cotuit - Bradford Alan Hayward, 50, a resident of Cotuit, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at his home after a long illness.
Born in Brockton, Mr. Hayward enjoyed airplanes, country music, basketball, wrestling and the outdoors.
He is survived by his parents, Parker and Betty (Mulford) Hayward of Wareham; a sister, Carol Olson; two nieces; and several aunts and cousins.
A memorial service was held at the First Congregational Church, Wareham.
Burial will be private at a later date.

Henry A. Hebert
Hyannis - Henry A. Hebert, a former real estate broker and gift shop owner, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at his home after a long illness.
Born in Nashua, N.H., Mr. Hebert was a graduate of Suffolk University in Boston and employed by the Raytheon Corp. for many years before moving to the Cape.
He moved to the Cape in 1966 and later owned the Colonial Gift Shop in Centerville.
He was an opera enthusiast.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date in Nashua, N.H.

Jean Z. Marshall, 87
Hyannis Port - Jean Z. (Zimmerman) Marshall, 87, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Edward LeBoutillier Marshall.
Born and raised in the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia, she attended the Shady Hill School and later Miss Porters School in Farmington, Conn. She lived in Sewickley, Pa., and in Princeton, N.J., before retiring to Hyannisport in 1972, where her family had been summer residents since 1959.
A homemaker with a passion for politics, Mrs. Marshall was active in community affairs, serving as president of the West Beach Club as well as delivering Meals on Wheels to the housebound for many years.
Surviving are a son, John C. Marshall of Wayne, Pa.; two daughters, Elizabeth Games of Dedham and Helena M. Keiser of Orchard Park, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service is at 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at St. Peter's Church in Osterville.

Donald C. Pizzi, 86
Centerville - Donald C. Pizzi, 86, a former furniture salesman, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a sudden illness.
He was the husband of Evelyn M. (Perry) Pizzi for 40 years.
Born in Boston, Mr. Pizzi was raised and educated in Belmont. He retired to Centerville 35 years ago.
After serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a flight instructor, Mr. Pizzi returned to the Boston area where he worked as a furniture salesman for many years.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Cape Cod Art Association. Much of his time was devoted to the care of his wife.
Surviving besides his wife are a stepson, Frank P. Ryan of West Hyannisport; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Ina Maye Ashcroft Carothers, 93
Sulpher Springs, Texas - Ida Maye Ashcroft Carothers, 93, who leaves family on the Cape, died Thursday, September 30, 1999.
She was the wife of John J. McLoughlin for 47 years.
Raised in Sulphur Springs, she graduated as valedictorian of her Sulphur Springs High School class. She continued her education, graduating from Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn., before obtaining a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
She taught Spanish and history at the Sulphur Springs High School.
She was district chairman and vice president of the Northeast Texas Presbytery. She was president of the Waverly Club and one of the first volunteer "pink ladies" at the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member of the Sulphur Springs Country Club, the Alberta Lake Club and the Morning Arts Garden Club.
She was also an avid bridge player.
Surviving are a son, Andrew Carothers of Centerville; a daughter, Lucy McRae of Dallas, Texas ; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Carol Carothers Flegal.
Funeral services were held in Sulphur Springs.

Mildred Cole, 84
Yarmouth - Mildred (Potter) Cole, 84, died yesterday at the Cape Cod Hospital.
She was the wife of James Cole Sr. for 64 years.
Born and raised in Lowell, she was a graduate of Palmer High School and attended American International College. She worked for the Monsanto Co., from the time she left school until her retirement in 1973.
After moving to Cape Cod in the early 1970s, Mrs. Cole became an active member of the Federated Church in Hyannis. She was a past president of the Unity Guild at the Federated Church.
She enjoyed traveling, knitting and reading.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, E. James Cole Jr. of Clifton Park, N.Y.; two daughters, Joan Townsend of Louisville, Ky., and Lisa Kulig of Ludlow; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at the Federated Church, Hyannis. Burial followed in the Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth.

Joseph C. Duncan, 87
Hyannis - Joseph Cuthbert Duncan, 87, a native of Scotland, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of Alice Ann (Powers) Duncan for 49 years.
Born, raised and educated in Dunfermline, Scotland, Mr. Duncan came to the United States in 1929 at the age of 17. The next day, he started working for Western Electric in Kearney, N.J. He worked 42 years for the company, which is now Lucent Technology.
During his career, he helped to establish and organize Western Electric Plant in Haverhill, which later relocated to North Andover.
Mr. Duncan was a member of the Osterville Men's Club and the Hyannis Elks. He was also an avid golfer and most proud of his hole-in-one at the Round Hill Golf Course in East Sandwich.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, David J. Duncan of San Francisco; a daughter, Kathleen A. Sherry of Crownsville, Md.; two brothers, Ronald Duncan of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Robert Duncan of Sauchie, Scotland; a sister, Ann Mitchell of Dunfermline, Scotland; and many nieces and nephews.
