Stephen J. Driscoll

LOWELL—Stephen J. Driscoll, 71 years old, died Friday morning at his home after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Blackwell) Driscoll, and the late Margaret (Kelly) Driscoll, who died in 1965.
He was born in Lowell, on July 7, 1931, a son of the late Mortimer J. and Vera (Lawlor) Driscoll. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Grammar School and Keith Academy, Class of 1949.
Mr. Driscoll served in U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a Foreman by the New England Telephone Company for over 35 years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and was the last President of the I.B.T.W. He also spent many hours as a counselor for the Samaritans.
Surviving him besides his wife of thirty three years are six daughters and two sons-in-law: Marianne and William Gaffney, of Methuen; Maureen Driscoll, of Methuen; Kathleen Driscoll, of Canterbury, NH; Margaret Driscoll, of Dracut; Colleen Driscoll, of Lowell; and Anne and Scott Finley, of Lawrence; a brother and sister-in-law: David and Laurette Driscoll, of Lowell; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 PM on Tuesday, April 29th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass to be offered Wednesday, April 30th, at 10 AM at ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH, North Andover. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory may be made to St. Michael’s Church Building Fund; 80 Maple Avenue, North Andover, MA 01845.

Shrewsbury - Elizabeth J. (Patterson) Schonborg-Ostlund, 75 of Fort Walton Beach, FL, formerly of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, (April 26) in Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, after an extended illness.
She leaves three sons, David G. Schonborg of Fort Walton Beach, Fl, Lee B. Schonborg of Shrewsbury and Douglas M. Ostlund of Seattle, WA., three daughters, Linda J. McDaniel of Normal, IL, Elizabeth A. Etre of Worcester, and Rebecca J. Ostlund of North Grafton, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her first husband George R. Schonborg died in 1961. Her second husband Maynard M. Ostlund died in 1974. Three brothers and one sister, all predeceased her and a grandson, Brian M. McDaniel of Normal, IL died in 2001. Mrs. Ostlund was born in Worcester, daughter of Donald and Nellie (Stover) Patterson.
After graduating from Shrewsbury High School. Mrs. Ostlund attended Becker Jr. College. She worked as a Medical and Legal Secretary for a number of years before retiring to Florida in 1987. She enjoyed the beach, reading, crocheting, knitting, golf and her beloved cat LB.
The Funeral will be held Thursday( May1) at 11 a.m. in Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston St. West Boylston (www.faybrothers.com). Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Mountain View Cemetery. Calling Hours are Thursday (May 1) from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mary C. Coleman

Worcester - Mary C. (Rousseau) Coleman 89, formerly of Idalla Rd. died Tuesday (April 8) at the Westborough Healthcare Center, Westborough, after an illness.
Her huasband of 66 years, Howard W. Coleman died in 2000. She leaves four sons, Howard W. Coleman Jr. of Paxton, Malcom V. Coleman of Worcester, Gene K. Coleman of Apache Junction, AZ and Kenneth L. Coleman of Woodstock, CT, and a daughter Carole J. Boilard of Worcester, 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Joseph Rousseau of West Boylston, George Rousseau of Florida and Richard Rousseau of Worcester and two sisters Virginia Rousseau and Rita Rousseau all predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Alexander L. and Mary C. (Desrochers) Rousseau.
She was a seamstress for MKM Mills in Rochdale, a custom dressmaker and worked at the Gold Star Restaurant retiring many years ago.
She was a founding member of Saint Christopher’s Church and a member of the Indian Lake Yacht Club. She was an accomplished needle worker, rug hooker, and cake decorator. She also enjoyed sailing, traveling and flying airplanes with her husband.

David M. Blake

Worcester - David M. Blake 33, of 2 East Kendall St. died Monday (April 7) at UMASS Memorial Medical Center-University Campus after an illness.
He leaves a son, David M. Blake of West Boylston, his parents, Steven T. and Carol E. (Lopardo) Blake of West Boylston, a sister, Jodie Blake-Howard of West Boylston, his maternal grandparents, Domenic and Elizabeth Lopardo of West Boylston. He was born in Holden and lived in West Boylston for 22 years before moving to Worcester.
He attended West Boylston Schools and graduated from Worcester Vocational High School.
He was a self-employed Carpenter and Licensed Construction Supervisor. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, a gifted mechanic, enjoyed the open roads and water sports.
A Funeral will be held Friday (April 11) at 10 a.m. in Greendale Peoples Church 25 Francis St. Burial will be in the Spring in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Calling Hours are private.

Ellen M. Chase

Worcester - Ellen M. Chase 58, of 27 Mt. Vernon St. died Sunday (June16) at UMASS Memorial Medical Center-Lake Ave. Campus after an illness.
She leaves her mother Shirley M. McIntyre of North Brookfield, four brothers, John E. McIntyre III of Millbury, Patrick K. McIntyre North Brookfield, Kevin P. McIntyre of Spencer, and Michael B. McIntyre of Sutton, a half-sister Barbara DiPasquale of Marlboro, several nephews and nieces. A brother William H. McIntyre of No. Brookfield pre-deceased her. She was born in Marlboro.
She graduated from the Fanning Trade School.
She was a Nurse's Aide at several area Nursing Homes and a Volunteer at UMASS Hospital for last 15 years.
A Graveside Service will be held at the family's convenience in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no Calling Hours. Worcester - Carl E. Dejarnette 46 of 4 Crown St. died Wednesday (June 18) at UMASS Memorial Medical Center - Belmont St. Campus after an illness.
He leaves his mother Nettie (Deramus) Dejarnette of Worcester, a brother, Alexander Dejarnette of Worcester, two sisters, Julia Miller of Worcester and Wanda Dejarnette of Oklahoma, his paternal grandmother Lucille Dejarnette of Clanton, AL, several nephews and nieces and uncles and aunts. A brother Eltoro Dejarnette of Worcester died in 1990. He was born in Birmingham, AL son of Obdie Dejarnette. He graduated from Doherty High School.
He was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

Worcester - Lorraine T. (Moen) Mills 75, of 55 Hollywood St. died Sunday (April 27) in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Francis E. Mills, three sons, James F. Mills and Steven P. Mills both of Worcester and Dennis W. Mills of Leicester, four daughters, M. Diane Clark of Whitinsville, Susan Beebe-Kuczinski of Cleveland, OH, Patricia A. Higgins of Shrewsbury, and Deborah A. Waterson of Worcester, three sisters, Mae Moen of Escundido, CA, Helen Provencher of Wheelwright, and Barbara Smith of Worcester, 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Peter F. and Herminie M. (Lavoie) Moen. She attended South High School.
She worked in the Customer Service Department at Big D Supermarket for 25 years, retiring in 1990 previously she worked 20 years at Harr Ford. She was a member of Saint Peter’s Church and was active in Local Politics.

Lois A. Haling

North Brookfield - Lois A. (Jonzischka) Haling 73, of 2 River Rd., died Saturday (May 31) at home, after an illness.
Her husband Kenneth A. Haling died in 1989. She leaves a daughter, Kimberly A. Haling of North Brookfield and a brother, Paul L. Jonzischka of Fresno, CA. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Otto J. and Ruth E. (Kingsbury) Jonzischka. She attended Worcester Schools. She lived several years in Auburn and many years in Hawaii, prior to moving here.
She was a Office Manager for her husband's medical practice for many years in Hawaii, before retiring several years ago.
A funeral service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in West Brookfield. There are no calling hours. Dexter Russell

Dexter C. Russell, age 83, died peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2002 at the Kindred Hospital in Boston.
He was born in Winchester on March 10, 1919 to the late William and Annie Russell. He was a resident of Medford for over fifty years.
He enlisted into the Navy during World War II. His honors and commendations include the Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, The Phillipian Medal, as well as the American Area Medal. Dexter was very proud of the fact that he sailed on the P.T.'s vessels during World War II.
He was employed as a custodian for the Medford Public Schools for over 25 years.
He is the beloved husband of the late Evelyn T. (Riley) Russell. Loving father of Marcia Ann Wolfson of Melrose, Gail M. and her husband George Bernard of VT, Marilee J. and her husband David I. Duff of Cape Cod, Donald M. and his wife Nancy V. Russell of Billerica, Deborah J. Kypriotes of Saugus, Peter C. Russell of Derry, NH, Thomas N. Russell of Medford, Bonnie J. and her husband Brad DeFlumeri of Everett, and the late William D. Russell. Also survived by 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
His funeral service is, Thursday, March 21st, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
Mr. Russell was a very devoted father, a lovable man with a happy-go-lucky attitude toward life. He will be deeply missed.
George Hawe

George M. Hawe, age 80, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at the Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Concord.
He was born in Everett on July 15, 1921 to the late Ephraim and Aimee L. (Maynard) Hawe.
He was raised and educated in Medford; graduating Medford High School, Class of 1939. George served the US during World War II in the Navy. While serving, he was honored with the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed as a controller for the MBTA for over 35 years until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Hawe was a member of the MBTA Union.
Beloved brother of Wendall I. Hawe of N. Fort Myers, FL., Dorothy Gates of Stoneham, Marion R. Knight and Robert C. Hawe of Acton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Dorothy Maynard

Dorothy (Donabedian) Maynard, age 84, died peacefully, on Friday, May 17, 2002 at the Wingate Nursing Home in Reading after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Worchester on September 14, 1917 to the late Melkon and Esther (Najarian) Donabedian. She was a Medford resident, graduating Medford High School, Class of 1935, until she moved to Melrose in 1989. She married
the late Thomas W. Maynard on December 24, 1952 at Medford City Hall.
She was active involved at Wingate Nursing Home, acting as President of Residence Council. Her other interests include gardening, theater, arts, music, and travel. During her husbands military career they lived in various places, including Hawaii for several years. Dorothy took great pride in her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Besides her beloved husband, she leaves one cherished daughter, Donna M. and her husband Timothy J. Dunn of Andover. She is the loving grandmother of Christopher and Nicole Dunn, both of Andover, Renee Dunn of Durham, N.H., and Jonathan Dunn of Buffalo, N.Y. Devoted sister of Agnes Mazmanian, Paris Hertigan, Rose Vartanian and the late Sarkis Donabedian. Dear aunt of June Servidio of Arlington and Rose Guzzetti and several other nieces and nephews.

Harriet Archer, age 98, died on Tuesday May 28, 2002. She was born in Somerville on March 01, 1904 to the late Edward and Anna (Stone) Wyman. She was a resident of Coventry, R.I., formerly of Medford and Somerville. She was a graduate of Medford High school.
She was employed as an Assistant to the Registrar at Tufts University for 16 years until her retirement in 1969.
Harriet was a member of the Forever Young Club, H. Rise Club, A.M. Club, Medford Women's Club, as well as the Business and Professional Womens Club of the First Baptist Church.
She is the beloved wife of the late Ralph J. Archer. Loving mother of John W. Mills, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Warwick, R.I. Cherished grandmother of John W. Mills, III, Julie Carlson and Tod A. Mills. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren.
Her service will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, May 31st at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours have been omitted. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
