Teresa A. Gregory
GILL - Teresa "Tweet" A. (Arena) Gregory, 66, of 17 Oak St., Riverside, died Saturday (12-15-07) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
She was born in West Springfield on Oct. 10, 1941, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Arcuri) Arena. She was a graduate of Greenfield High School. She had been a resident of Turners Falls prior to moving to Riverside in 1980.
Tweet was employed by the Yankee Candle Co., South Deerfield, until her retirement in 2006.
She enjoyed taking trips to the casinos.
Survivors include her husband, James J. Gregory; three sons, Peter J. Billiel and his wife Donna of Orange, Michael A. Billiel and his wife Patrice of Mikado, Mich., and Joseph J. Gregory Sr. of Turners Falls; a sister, Carmella Stebbins of East Longmeadow; seven grandchildren, Christie, Jessica, Jeffrey, Alisha, Elizabeth and Rebecca Billiel and Joseph J. Gregory Jr., and several nieces and nephews.
A son, Gary F. Billiel, predeceased her in 2002.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Anthony P. Dagilus
Greenfield, MA - Anthony (Tony) P. Dagilus, 86, of 181 Leyden Rd., passed away peacefully on Wednesday (12/12/07) at the Buckley Healthcare Center.
Tony was born in Greenfield on January 25, 1921, the son of George and Ona (Varotinskasis) Dagilus. He attended Greenfield schools and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1939.
Tony married
his devoted and loving wife, the former, Audrey Gwendolyn Vanasse on May 4, 1946 at Holy Trinity Church. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Prior to entering the Army, Tony was employed at Greenfield Tap & Die. After returning home he worked for American Photographic Appliance and the for the Mass. Department of Public Works until his retirement in 1984.
Tony entered the Army in 1942 serving in WWII. His war efforts took him from Kiska in the Aleutians to Italy with the 10th Mountain Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star by Major General Hayes due to his heroic action on March 3rd of that year at Pietra Colora during an attack on his platoon. The citation noted, 'His bravery and aggressiveness are highly in keeping with the finest traditions of the US Army.'
Tony was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield.
He was an avid outdoorsman and was a dedicated hunter and fisherman. He and his wife spent many hours fishing the local rivers. Tony also loved gardening, bird watching, hunting with his dog and sitting in his gazebo. He was a devoted fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots.
Tony built his home on Leyden Rd. and was an experienced carpenter. He enjoyed many hours in his work shop.
Besides his loving wife he leaves a sister, Mary Constantine of Litchfield Park in AZ and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Agnes Skrypek and a brother Joseph Dagilus.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (12/17) at 10am at Holy Trinity Church with Monsignor Ronald G. Yargeau, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held on Monday (12/17) at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St. will be held from 8:30am-9:30am.

Genevieve E. Krol
TURNERS FALLS - Genevieve "Jean" E. (Ofiara) Krol, 92, formerly of Hatfield and Turners Falls, passed on peacefully Tuesday (12-11-07) at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility in Leeds.
She was born in Chicopee on June 9, 1915, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Swol) Ofiara. She attended local schools in Chicopee and had been a resident of Turners Falls for 56 years.
She was married
to her husband, Stanley Krol, in Chicopee in 1939. He predeceased her on Jan. 12, 1996.
Jean was employed in the billing department for Ingersoll Rand Co. until her retirement in 1977.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and was a member of the Rosary Society. Also, she was a member of the Polish Women's Alliance.
Jean enjoyed watching religious programs and volunteering her services anyway she could.
She leaves a daughter, Stacia A. Yurkevicz, and son-in-law, Rudy, of Hatfield; four grandchildren, Gary Yurkevicz and his wife Jackie of Florence, Cheryl Hoey and her husband Rick of Ludlow, Annmarie Longley and her husband Gary of W. Springfield and Kevin Yurkevicz of Gill; three great-grandchildren, Michael Yurkevicz of Amherst and Craig and Matthew Yurkevicz of Florence; three sisters-in-law, Josephine Krol of Greenfield, Rose Gloski of Millers Falls and Vickie Zabko of Turners Falls, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Sucha and Alice Swienton.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church with the Rev. Charles DiMascola, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
A calling hour at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, will be Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

David T. Morey
GREENFIELD - David T. Morey, 60, of 23 Graves Road died Sunday (12-9-07) at home.
He was born in Greenfield on April 20, 1947, the son of Norman E. and Irmgard (Hohengasser) Morey. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1965 and had been a resident of Greenfield most of his life.
Dave was employed as a test operator for Verizon until 1994.
He served in the U.S. Army on the Honor Guard for Arlington National cemetery and then served in Vietnam during the war. He attained the rank of specialist fourth class. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in action and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.
Dave was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America and Disabled American Veterans. He was a charter member of Ducks Unlimited.
He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Irmgard and Phil Petersante of Greenfield; two sons, Norman and his wife Darlene of Greenfield and Chad of Turners Falls; two sisters, Cynthia Morey of South Deerfield and Sue Laford of Bernardston; three granddaughters, Mackenzie and Maya Morey and Lilly Morey-Paul, and many nieces and nephews.
A brother, Eugene Morey, predeceased him in 2002.
Calling hours at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
A private graveside service will be held in Calvary Cemetery.

Lora B. Pike
GREENFIELD - Lora B. (Billiel) Claine Pike, 91, of 135 Harrison Ave. died Sunday (12-9-07) at home.
She was born in Colrain on April 21, 1916, the daughter of David and Alice (Trumble) Billiel. She attended local schools in Colrain and Shelburne Falls. She had been a resident of Greenfield for more than 65 years.
Lora was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and rug braiding.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John Claine in 1962, and her second husband, Donald Pike in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence J. Claine of Greenfield; a daughter, Linda L. Claine of Greenfield; her twin brother, Lawrence Billiel of Avon, CT; a sister, Doris Hall of Shelburne; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a daughter-in-law, Carol Claine of Greenfield, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Howard E. Claine in 2006, and a daughter, Jean D. Councilman in 1997.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
A calling hour will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Charles J. Gibowicz, Jr.
Savannah, GA - Charles J. Gibowicz, Jr., 73, Ret. US Navy, Capt. of Savannah, formerly of Greenfield, died Friday (12/7/2007) at the Hospice House in Savannah, as a result of cancer.
He was born in Greenfield on August 6, 1934 the son of Charles J., Sr. and Blanche (Kacpura) Gibowicz. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1952 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 1957.
Following his graduation, he entered the US Navy's Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI and was commissioned as an officer in 1957. Gibowicz was a Vietnam veteran and served 28 years in the Navy retiring in 1985 with the rank of Captain. He was awarded two Legion of Merit Medals, two Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with unit citation and Republic of Vietnam and Philippine Republic Campaign Ribbons. However, he retained a strong interest in the Navy and was an active member of the Navy League and US Naval Institute and a member of the Navy Memorial in Washington, DC.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 61 of Thunderbolt, GA and a member of the Savannah Pulaski Society and a former member of the White Eagle Society in Greenfield.
Gibowicz began a second career in 1985 with Air Touch International, a cellular telephone company, working throughout Europe and Egypt, retiring in 2000.
Also, he wrote and published a book entitled 'Mess Night Traditions', a first.
He leaves his wife Audrey, two daughters, Patricia Ann Gibowicz of Manchester, NH and Christina Alexandra Doyle and her husband Tim of Pacific Grove, CA, a brother, Robert A. Gibowicz and his wife Tessie of Florence, two sisters, Dorothy A. Morgan of Greenfield and Barbara J. Boron of Turners Falls, an aunt and an uncle and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Saturday (12/15) at 9am from the Kostanski Funeral Home 220 Federal St., Greenfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Turners Falls with the Rev. Charles DiMascola, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home in Greenfield.

Catherine M. Scepanski
GREENFIELD - Catherine "Kay" M. (Sullivan) Scepanski, 79, of 58 Riddell St. died Friday (12-7-07) at home.
She was born in Greenfield on Dec. 19, 1927, the daughter of Timothy and Edith (Stafford) Sullivan. She was a graduate of Greenfield High School and a lifelong resident of Greenfield.
Kay was employed by the former R&R; Jewelry for many years and was an assistant manager until the late 1980s. Previously, she was employed by Lunt Silversmiths.
She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church and a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church.
Kay was a volunteer for community meals.
Her husband, Mitchell J. Scepanski, predeceased her on March 11, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Joseph M. and his wife Jane of Edmond, OK; a daughter, Teresa A. Kelley and her husband Michael of Halifax, MA; a brother, George Sullivan of South Deerfield; a sister, Margaret Neverett of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Scott, Kaitlin and Grant Scepanski, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in Holy Trinity Church. Monsignor Ronald G. Yargeau, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
Calling hours will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
